My favorite theory is that there is two timelines we see in Doctor Who. Before Genesis Davros died during the creation of the Daleks. The Daleks grow to be a strong force under their Emperor. They conquer Earth, they invade other planets. They become a force that could conquer the universe. One strong force under one leader. The Time Lords afraid of this send the 4th Doctor back to make changes in Genesis. He refuses to commit genocide so tries other changes. With the knowledge gained Davros survives and perhaps left a little bit in their programming that they need him. So they come back to get him when they lose. That is why after Genesis we see the Daleks weaker and a lot more infighting about their goals. The change from Genesis that changed the timeline is Davros surviving. He is actually the worst thing for them.

I’m simply in love with this Dalek, so this is very aptly timed. I was chuckling several times during this video. Was it 150 Thousandth time, lol? Anyway, great job! Loved it!
Great video! When it comes to redesign Daleks, while the real world reason they were dropped was mainly due to fans not reacting well to the new designs, we never got an reason in the show for their disapperance. However, there is techinically a explanation for it in a unlikely place. According to a article from the Radio Times, at the Doctor Who Experience there was a Dalek ship you would enter, in which there was a exchange between the resdsign Daleks and a army bronze/classic Daleks who belong to Davros. The two sides were fighting over who are the true pure Daleks and given the fact we've not seen the redesigns for a long time now, it's clear that Darvos's army won and became the dominate faction. So once again splintering Dalek factions had led to another civil war, just a shame we didn't get to see it on screen as it would have been great to have a fall scale Dalek civil war with current effects.
You know, I always imagined the Daleks as a genocidal species in a state of constant war. But they sue for peace, make use of slave labor, and 22:14 feels like legal extradition. They have a lot of trials for what I'd assume would be an ultra-authoritarian government, I'd assumed the Daleks declared the time war as soon as they had the technology to rival the Time lords, but 25:11 makes it seem like a defensive war.
Any one else notice his voice changes to that of an oldschool dalek at 31:41? When he says "Dalek Just" it sounds just like how a dalek would say it. I think someone is secretly a dalek
My own head canon is that there are three species of Daleks. First, there are those that mutated from Mutos and rebuilt the Kaled city, which were the silver Daleks we saw in the 60s, and were eventually defeated during "Evil of the Daleks". Then there are the Daleks genetically engineered by Davros, that were trapped within the underground bunker beneath the Kaled City, and were the grey Daleks seen during the 70s and 80s. FInally, there are the converted Daleks, which began being produced by Davros on Necros, which eventually evolved into the Imperial Faction, lead by the Emperor Davros. During the Time War, remnants of all three factions wound up being forced to work together. In particular, following the Time War, the new Dalek Emperor attempted to rebuild the Dalek Empire using the conversion process created by Davros.
If i had a nickel for every time a friend of the doctor got turned into a Dalek, I'd have two nickels. It isn't much, but it's weird that is happened twice.
Absolutely brilliant marah ;) Being of the generation that sat down to watch the very first episode way back in 63, and being a TV21 fan back in the day, you brought back all of that background Dalek stories that I'd some how forgotten. Thanks so much for your presentation, and all delivered with a slight hint of Geordie. Brilliant!
Your placement of The Juggernauts was perfect for me 👍 always struggled with that one considering it’s always seemed that is when Davros escaped his trial, even though the same happened in The Davros Mission and another comic.
Nice video :) I wasn’t aware of their complete history, and there were a few movies staring Peter Cushing that retold the events of some of the stories from the show, just slightly different. As for weather they’ll survive the xmas special, well, apparently, the guy who created the daleks for the bbc implemented a legal stipulation that they always had to be used through out the DW series: Meaning if they (the BBC) wanted to use them at all, they had to keep using them, or they’d lose the rights to do so.
Please tell me I missed it and you actually DID mention what is possibly the greatest nuwho novel if not the best DW novel ever; "Prisoner of the Daleks"?! The Tenth Doctor is taken prisoner, as this book takes us on an unsettling and very adult journey through labor camps, child abuse, human rights not to mention the vicious torture of the Doctor just because the head Dalek (Dalek X) feels like doing so. Not a children's book; this is the first story that makes the Daleks look as terrifying as they were always meant to be.
Its a part I had to cut to get the video length down unfortunately but I loved reading about it in my research, I did refer to it in my story of the timewar however
I used to be scared of them as a kid but after I saw one get pushed out of a window I just started calling them the "garlics" and laughing at them whenever they came on screen
At 48:13, I think the reason the Daleks had restored their memories of the Doctor was because they extracted knowledge of him from Tasha Lem after turning her into a Dalek Puppet, during their takeover of the Papal Mainframe in the Siege of Trenzalore
In my school vr game there was a Bioweapon they made called the Meltdown which are used to destroy almost all of the body besides the head so it be used to control The darlek shell
After watching this video, I've got questions about the Asylum of the Daleks. Mainly, if there was a Dalek Prime Minister, was he voted in? Did he seize control? And... where is the parliament of the Daleks now? There looked like there were thousands of Daleks there. They can't all have been destroyed in the Time of the Doctor because they couldn't all fit in one saucer. And in series 9, there looked like there were only a hundred or so Daleks on Skaro.
The parliament might be done in a mocking way perhaps, these are mecha alien fascists after all so a parliament would seem very odd. The real answer is moffats writing inconsistencies and shortcuts to 'cut to the chase' so to speak. I liked that the Russel T Davis era had a (mostly) continuous dalek plot running with the cult of skaro. It meant that you knew the threat level, or even better thought you knew the threat level only for it to be revealed as wayyyyy higher. Recent stories kinda just throw the daleks out with no connecting fibre.
They can fly! They also have spaceships and tanks (I think?) and lots of weapons to blow up anything that is above them (meaning up a single stair, or standing on a rock, hahaha). But yeah, stairs are great ways to defend against Daleks, as I don't think they've always been able to fly, or at least fly without their platform things.
Senan Collins , then why do we see a Silurian ark floating above trenzolore also the Silurians are a very advanced race in technology they developed space travel long before humans , they are really intelligent, also I think these are the Silurians we see after the events of the hungry earth/cold blood 🩸 coz tbh it makes sense when you think about it xx

They have a lot of trials for what I'd assume would be an ultra-authoritarian government,
I'd assumed the Daleks declared the time war as soon as they had the technology to rival the Time lords, but 25:11 makes it seem like a defensive war.
Imagine taking a shot every time he says Dalek
Fun Fact: Rusty was in the intensive care section of the Dalek Asylum.
Fun Drinking Game:
Take a shot every time he says Dalek

Thank you from a old doctor who fan "Giving away my age" John pertwee was my favourite as a teenager, thanks.
I think that they should've done more with those human/Dalek/Time-Lord hybrids: killing them off was a waste.
Black Phoenix nobody really liked them though

Nice video :) I wasn’t aware of their complete history, and there were a few movies staring Peter Cushing that retold the events of some of the stories from the show, just slightly different.
As for weather they’ll survive the xmas special, well, apparently, the guy who created the daleks for the bbc implemented a legal stipulation that they always had to be used through out the DW series: Meaning if they (the BBC) wanted to use them at all, they had to keep using them, or they’d lose the rights to do so.
that would be Terry Nation
So we can never get rid of them
Well done of getting 20k. A fine achievement.
Its a part I had to cut to get the video length down unfortunately but I loved reading about it in my research, I did refer to it in my story of the timewar however
Well done mate & thanks for your time & effort to bring this to the Dr Who Fans👍🍺🇦🇺
31:08 To be fair, there probably weren't any Daleks left *inside* this universe. They were in the Void.
Bro, legit props to you for reading all this stuff
I love that when the daleks are talking in the comics their dialogue is all caps!
That’s how all comic dialogue is
That’s how all comic dialogue is
In my school vr game there was a Bioweapon they made called the Meltdown which are used to destroy almost all of the body besides the head so it be used to control The darlek shell
I wish I could watch The Daleks Master Plan and The Evil of the Daleks
Davros seems a bit like Darth Vader,"more machine than man.... twisted and evil".
Stairs, curbs, high grass, uneven terrain, rock's 🪨 and pebbles are just a few of the Daleks weaknesses!

Love 💕 this Matthew, I always loved❤️Davros and the Daleks as villains.
37:28 This is the most diplomatic way to explain this Davis Ex Machina I've ever heard. I applaud you for this. Bravo, sir. Bravo.
I thought it was just the one Dalek in The Big Bang. Interesting it's two.
And now we get the Restoration Empire with the new emperor, the strategist, execution unit and so on, which I love.
I remember when the hand mine scene happend everyone was saying "oh we don't know that's THE davros" like yeah sure, I've git 2 mates called davros
I always hoped the child like Dalak’s Alpha, Beta and Omega would have made a difference.
So detailed :) Well done Matthew
When you said Davros lost his sense of taste that was a pun as rich as Whoniverse lore 😂👌🏿💯
Davros: Leads Daleks
Also Davros: Has died more times than Kenny McCormick
Fantastic presentation! Thank you!
0:22 I've never thought of "poor" as a two-syllable word!
Never underestimate Brits. Every one of them pronounces every word different
Pooer
I love how I found out you were Canadian just by seeing what kind of Smarties you chose
The reason that the Daleks regained their memories of the Doctor was from when they made Tasha Lem into a Dalek Puppet in The Time of the Doctor.
Oh no, my smarties are planning world domimation! I've got to eat them, QUICK!
Impressively comprehensive, well done!
Is anyone who can remember it all, elligible for a PhD in Dalek History?
I thought the Daleks were only robots.
Thank you for enlightening me.
43:18 It was mentioned during 'The Time of the Doctor' that they extracted the memories of the doctor from the papal mainframe.
The episode where 12 has to choose to save Davros is so good!
Also, Power of the Daleks w/ the 2nd Doctor is the greatest Doctor Who story ever told
Finaly ... Now i understand so much more ... Thank you very much!!!
I don't think the silurians were on trenzalore, their space travel wouldn't be that advanced
Could you do a history of the Krintillains if there is any?
The amount of research for this is impressive. Most impressive.
Basically, it was a mercy if you were a Kaled or Thal who died in the civil war on Skaro. Better that than being turned into a Dalek...
When you discover, the Fourteenth Doctor was the one who gave them the idea of the Dalek name, the "Exterminate" catchphrase, and the plunger hand. 😂
Amazing video buddy thanks for all your hard work 👍
Love this great work bruv I have subscribed x
Love the video, just brilliant, maybe being daft though but i seem to have missed the 6th Doctors Revolation of the Daleks with Davros being The Great Healer. Or did i just miss this?
Was searching about who is daleks, watched whole video - still don’t know who they are
Aww! Key! You really are a clever boy! 😀
That was a really good performance on the piano!😀
Also a great way to get treats!!😂
And Jodie my dear! I think it's time that you went back to the piano! I miss you playing!!😀
Have a lovely day all of you! Love and best wishes Terry xx 😀✌🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Amazing video, thank you :)
Fantastic work, thanks for sharing
I have a dalek in in my house. My vacuum cleaner.
Everybody gangsta til that vacuum starts screaming
*”exterminate.”*
Thanks, you are a dalek guru! learnt so much
This is great, fascinating to see how it all comes together across time. A couple of little corrections - Exxilons not Exxilions and Movellans not Movellians. But otherwise, ace!
Great summery of their timeline 😀
Excellent video, very very detailed explanation into the lore of The Doctor who universe.
I don’t think many people realise just how large the Doctor who universe is, and how well flushed out it is either, so thank you for going into detail on it. Especially since that’s a lot of effort on your part.
If I had any nitpicks it’s that you mispronounced a few of the planet/species names and got a few details wrong. However, I’m nitpicking as Ik it takes a lot of effort to make a video like this.
Well done 👏🏻. Xx
