@@SomewhereWilder Great, better to be safe than sorry. I’m from the UK originally and now live in the US, have been restoring my old 1964 Series IIA 109. It’s got quite the story as the original owner drove it down to Cape Horn, Argentina. I use it mostly for weekend fishing and camping trips but would love to do more. Perhaps when work does not get in the way! Love your channel and keep’ ‘‘em coming, be safe and happy. G
If it’s a diesel heater it’s vented outside . Only need a co2 detector if there’s ingress if gasses or living flame 🔥. Always a good idea to have one at sleeping height though
Great build guys, I am still on the road with my roof top tent, if I would go for the Icarus pop top too, thanks to your video I got the Doemtic water dispenser too.....the NC 500 is on my list too👌greets from Zurich, Tom
My Defender is on its 5th incarnation currently after almost 17 years of owning Monty, they truly are Transformers ! Great build and video guys and look forward to following your travels !
Thank you so much! One day we would absolutely love to😍 For now we are more than happy watching Expedition Rove & Landy Expedition having the most amazing time!!!
Those are not internal roll bars, they are the mounting for the seat belts that would have been fitted when it was a station waggon. I've just removed mine because the metal plates on the underside of the bars (in the tyre well) have caused galvic corrosion.
Hey guys, I’m new to the channel and stumbled across your videos when looking for more Defender content and absolutely love what you guys are doing! Well filmed, well edited and really calming! Keep up the great work..
Nice! Looks like a lot of fun! I still have not done anything to my 96 DEF. I am was reluctant drilling into body but like you said it will be much easier to undo them if it is needed. Thank you.
What a great refurb - well done. We have a ‘95 110 CSW and are looking at something similar but I can’t decide on whether to keep the rear side window or fit side lockers, do you use them a lot? If I kept the windows I could cover them and use the locker cost (quite expensive) on the rebuild. Any thoughts Thanks Perry
Thanks for watching Perry 🙌 The side hatches were already installed when we bought the Landy 4 years ago but if we'd had time before getting the pop-top fitted we might have swapped them out for gullwing windows to let more light in! The hatches are good for privacy, but we haven't got the internal locker space that you see on some builds - we like being able to open them up in summer to let light and air in instead ☀
@@SomewhereWilder thanks very much that’s helpful and something else to think about. If I decided to fit lockers I would consider the internal locker but would loose the rear storage width 🙈
I'm looking at installing a diesel heater in my 110. Just wondered if you went for a 2kW or a 5kW heater? Happy with it? - love the channel, keep em coming! 👍
Thanks so much! We only used hand tools(jigsaw, handsaw, sander, drill and rivet tool), apart from when we had the wood cut in the store we bought it from 😊
Hi guys what area in scotland are you ? Im in oban and moved here just over 2 years ago from near manchester 😁 im leading a group of friends with land rovers on the NC500 starting from oban next tuesday and im leading them anti clockwise 😁
@@SomewhereWilder we are leaving oban this tuesday and hrading to inverness and doing the nc500 anti clock wise 😊 taking our time and have about a week and a half to do it 😁 no rush .hopefully we may see you guys along the way
We made sure to fill them with enough stuff so it all kind of stays in place! It's mostly just camping bits like tent/backpacks/that kind of thing so they are soft but bulky so nothing rattling around too much 😊
Love these videos guys - great inspiration for my own conversion. One question - after you've converted the Landy from a Station Wagon to a camper did you have to notify the DVLA? What happens when you go for an MOT?
@@SomewhereWilder editing is worth it though, sound quality on most videos is trash so it's hard to watch/listen too. I always watch your guys's videos start to end
Oh we hadn't heard that, we only spoke to a few friends beforehand about it though! I guess maybe it's different for others but we had a wonderful experience with them😊 They've been super helpful with the post install questions we've had so far too when we had to wire the lights and stuff ourselves💡
The woman in this video made several hi pitched noises. Whilst i have no issues with someone expressing their joy, on RUclips videos it' very hard on the ears! please stop her now!!
Make sure you get a carbon monoxide detector for your Landy because you have the heater in back.
Yessss such good advice! They are so important ❤️ We actually have two as we definitely have the carbon monoxide fear🥴

Great conversion! Enjoy it to the fullest! From one Defender family to another! Love the boxes!
Awesome work getting there one piece at a time
Enjoy your first trip and adjust as you go take care be safe
Awesome video, more please! I love your channel, you are so cheery and goofy :D
Thank you so much!! Goofy is definitely accurate seeing as we have no clue what we’re doing half the time ahaha 😅❤️ thanks for watching!!
You can also put painters tape on the cutline of the jigsaw
Ooh thanks for the tip! Will try that next time 💡
I like the way that to mime cooking on the new back-door fold-out worktop it looks like Frida is playing the piano! 😂
Hahaha I’m glad you liked that bit because I was so close to leaving it out as I look like a weirdo 😅
@@SomewhereWilder ah no, come on, if you left out the "weirdo" stuff there would be nothing left! 🤭
Seeing such progress is therapeutic but also gives me confidence that I can one day build an overlander for myself
Ahhh we love that!! We definitely had absolutely no experience when we started doing this so definitely think anyone can do it too❤️
Absolutely love this ❤❤❤ ah I want to go back 🥺
Great build! I turn the jigsaw uppside down to not get any splitting.
Fellow 300di 110 owner ✋🏼😊Alucab pop top and wrap around awning looks like a fantastic upgrade.
What a Great build, and great simple ideas. Thank you
Love the build guys! Can’t wait to see you again. Also, can’t believe Frida has the same socks as me!!
Ahahaha we have all the Land Rover themed items at this point 😅😆
Thanks so much Alex!!!
Really super video 👏👏👏👏... Well worth the wait! 😉😆
Yay thanks so much Rob! Hopefully won't be so long until the next one 💪

So jealous of the alucab roof! Build looks sick guys nice work
Okay were with you 2 good luck stay safe. Happy trails
What are those lovely camping chairs?? 😊
They are the CAMPZ beechwood folding chairs (we ordered them via Addnature) and love them so far!! 😊
The internal bars you mention are for seat belt anchors in the rear.
Love your content 🍻

Looking great, hope you have as much fun in the new build as you did in the old one.
Ahhh thank you so much!! We hope so 🤞🫶
Nice Work! 👍 LG, Alfred
Thank you so much!! 😊
God I loved this! Nice trick with the sleeping bags, and yes there is never a straight angle in a vehicle lol I learned that with my build
Thank you so much!! You can never have enough storage in a Land Rover that's for sure😆 and yes I swear no two defenders are the same shape inside 😂
@@SomewhereWilder I gotta ship my rig out to Scotland one of these days
So fun watching you rebuilding!

don’t watch it then 👍
