  • It's all starting to come together!
    Our dream camper van build is starting to really take shape. The design of our camper is something we have gone back and forth adapting, and changing, whilst always trying to maximise the small amount of space we have. I think that the biggest challenge for a Defender camper build is the space.
    After months of work, we finally have a built camper!🙌
    We really hope that this video is helpful for those of you who are completing a build yourselves and hopefully you can learn from our many mistakes.
    Please let us know if you have any questions and we will be more than happy to get back to you. Enjoy everyone!!☺️
    *Disclaimer - we are not experts in camper building, we are just two people trying our best to create a functional, practical house on wheels!

      We'll be sure to do more of that in our future videos. There's always a fine line between under and over explaining things, I guess we are still trying to find a middle ground in our videos.
      We removed the fuel tank in the previous video because when lifting the floor we noticed a couple of things that needed fixing. It did actually turn out to make the job a lot easier with the tank being out!
      Thank you for your comment ☺

    I just came across your channel. Obviously you've done it now but it's not a bad idea to allow access to the rear light wiring on top of the arches. If you ever need to get in there you'll have to remove everything. Also, I used that spray adhesive for carpet but if you're going anywhere hot, it can't handle it and fails. F44 flooring adhesive is good if it starts to come off in the future. I speak from experience 😉

      Hey Vic, we did go back and forth on this and decided to cover this area in the carpet, we may end up regretting this! Thank you for your advice! We really appreciate it!☺

    Great video. My wife and I are in the overland lifestyle as well. We live in Nevada and we take our two Boston Terriers in our ‘21 Land Cruiser with its rooftop tent. We don’t have the amount of space your RR has but we manage. Great workmanship and carpentry skills. Can’t wait to see the final product.

      Thank you Gary! The thick black insulation was actually given to us by a friend, so I'm not sure exactly where it's from or the spec. The silver insulation is from this place - www.camperedup.co.uk/insulation

    Could you tell me what thickness of ply you used to create your cabinets and seating please ?

    • @TheLandyExpedition
      @TheLandyExpedition  Год назад

      Hey Colin how’s it going?
      We used a mixture of 12 and 9mm.
      We used 9 on areas that were fixed down to wheel arches and floor etc to try to save some weight. The main cabinetry was built using 12mm ply

  • @johnanchor2415
    @johnanchor2415 Год назад +1

    Cool! Thanks for sharing! Arent you worried that all that lumber will cost a fortune to haul around compared to building the same setup but using for example aluminium and plastic?

    • @TheLandyExpedition
      @TheLandyExpedition  Год назад

      Hey john please excuse my apologies for the late response!
      This whole build was done (timber) wise. Using 12+9mm ply. I think we only actually used 2.5 sheets of ply. That’s 1.2x2.4m so the weight is really as low as it could be using any materials!
      Cheers!
      Harry
