    If you're reading this and you just watched this video for the first time or just landed on this channel: this is what you get when you mix spanish and german engineering with an english car and a society that makes people sick and sell them meds. damn, i can't stop watching this video. everytime i re-watch it i catch something with my eye that i go like "fuck, i need to do this".

    Amazing build. German & Spanish engineering at its best. "The devil is in the details", as they say, awesome detailing on this rig!. I am a Toyota guy 100%, but I still find Land Rover Defenders quite sexy, I just can't imagine myself fixing something on them every single month or week (neither I have the mechanical expertise & patience you guys obviously have) Great stuff. Hey Manuel, thanks! We spend quite a lot of time planning too utilize all the space.
      Yeah old Land Rovers have their problems, but I’ve to say we drove 85k km fully loaded, bad fuels, with a lot of rough terrain. And we had not many issues. I don’t know how Toyotas go thru that kind of usage.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Год назад +3

      Yes you could use an air suspension compressor but as far as I know those are high pressure low flow… for tires you want the opposite. And you would need to add a pressure switch which turns the compressor off. Ours is set to 6 bar of. The hole system is rated for 10bar. If you have the space add a bigger air tank, ours is too small.

    omg! i thought i was gonna have to wait longer for a rig tour! Damn you guys are good, i can see how everything just make sense for you guys. I love how the dash is setup. And how genious was this idea of the heat exchange stuff? Holy moly, that's what i call engineering. Ya'll use propane to cook? Because i'm on a dilema. I might buy a dual propanel cooker (i don't know if it's called that way, you know the thing with the 2 burners?) and use it with a 2kg propane tank that's gonna stay on top of the car and buy a fuel stove for emergencies. I'm wondering if i can do the oposite, because i know that cooking inside the car with fuel is dangerous as fuck. Do i get a 2 mouth burner that uses propane or fuel? And of course, in the name of all the subscribers i thank you both of you for the video and for putting the time to edit and make it so clear for us! Be safe out there guys! Good to see ya'll again!

    • @Thebluelandy

      Hey Gustavo, thank you so much!
      We use a Coleman two burner stove that Runs with petrol. It’s a simple bit of kit, I got it cause my dad was traveling with a Coleman for years and it never failed. And I figured you can get petrol everywhere, to refill propane tanks can be tricky in some countries.
      We have a Primus multi fuel as backup it runs with propane, petrol or diesel. We use it with small propane cartridges to make coffee in the morning or also cook inside (but this happed only 1-2 times so far)

    • @frank-lr
      @frank-lr Год назад

      Do you really want/need to cook inside? I mean what with all the smell and vapours. In addition burning propane creates a lot of water vapour; I guess 10 minutes uses about 30g, which creates about half a bath tub's volume of water vapour.

    • @GustavoScarpellini
      @GustavoScarpellini Год назад +3

      @@frank-lr i would be cooking inside emergency only. And i think boiling water for a coffe or frying some eggs doesn't take long enough to moist everything. Strong wind is a problem. Especially if your lifters getting weaker, then the canvas is rattling, Which is a nightmare at night.
      It gets better, If you turn the front of the car into the wind but sometimes we had to sleep inside with the roof down (max.5 nights so-far).
      Rain is not really a problem, we had here and there small leaks but it got all sealed.
      The biggest issue in bad weather is that the Defender is still a tiny car and there is not much space even with pop top inside.
      I did winter trips with my brother at -12 degrees C it was a fun adventure. But if it looks like I’ll have constant rain for the next 2 weeks I start driving until the weather gets better 😅

    Just come across your channel. Great land rover set up. Do you mind me asking why you chose a defender over other 4x4's landcruiser, mercedes, etc?

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  11 месяцев назад

      Hey of course! I wanted as a kid always a Defender, so I bought one from my first paychecks…
      A G-class in Germany is quite expensive and they all have too much rust. For a Land Cruiser i would have needed over a year’s worth of paychecks…
      And in the end we’re really happy with the Defender, it’s reliable, easy to work on and the Land Rover Community is the greatest bonus. We call so many people friends now that we met through the Land Rover connection.

      @@Thebluelandy thank you so much for your reply. Great how you interact with viewers of your channel. Your trip and vehicle embodies the true land rover spirit of adventure. I don't think you'll see many people being able to do with a new defender what you've been able to do in yours 👍

    Hallo schönes Video. Sind die Außenscheinwerfer 12V? Wir suchen nach runden mit 24V. Falls ihr einen Tipp habt würden wir uns sehr freuen. Kleiner Tipp von uns...bitte verwendent unterwegs nur biologisch abbaubare Produkte...falls ihr das nicht ohnehin macht und ich mit getäuscht habe bei der Badezimmerlade. Danke und noch schöne Reisen!

    • @Thebluelandy

      Danke, die Scheinwerfer sind 12 und 24V kompatibel, sind eigentlich für Traktoren oder LKW daher nicht so teuer wie der 4x4 Kram. Schaut mal nach HELLA 1G0 357 000-011.
      Wir achten drauf, dass wir abbaubare Produkte benutzen, aber 100% ist leider sehr schwer (zb Sonnencreme). Dafür fahren wir einen der wenigen Defender der keinen Tropfen Motoröl verliert.

      Hello Christian,
      I just went to the next metal workshop, and asked them to cut two panels of 1,5 or 2mm aluminum. And had it painted by a paintshop. Then I glued it to the car using Sikaflex 227.

    Why is the defend so poplar for this kind of trips and not something like a wrangler or gladiator?

    • @spikemd1364
      @spikemd1364 Год назад +3

      Because Defenders are awesome! Diesel gives much better range. In Europe, Defenders are much cheaper than a Jeep.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Год назад +2

      Hey, Yeah it’s right Defenders are more common in Europe. And they are pretty low tec this means they can be fixed easily with a hammer, this and the good availability of spare parts worldwide makes the car a good base.
      The Defender has also a payload from roughly 1 ton, As far as I know, is the pay load of a wrangler way less, manly cause the axles are not as oversized as in a Defender. Wranglers are probably better offroad but don’t behave aswell on the road, manly because both axle have a panhard rod. If the axle moves up and down, the panhard rod make the axle also move sideways. The Defender has an A-Frame on the rear axle and is there for more stable in roads.
      All this together make the Defender probably the better touring or Overland base.

      Thanks for the replies. Because it seems to be the opposite here in the USA. These older model defenders are extremely expensive.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Год назад +1

      The reason why Defenders are so expensive in the USA is cause they got banned after the 300tdi model for not having airbags. That makes them rare and therefore expensive. But in USA you have a wider choice of great 4x4s, which are great for touring. I personally like the Tacomas or the 4runners.
