@@stephenyoung494 that's great to hear, Stephen! trying to narrow down what it is you want on the layout design side is one of the hardest parts. We too are thinking of using this video as a catalyst for our Defender 110 build. Trying to conceptualize a shelving solution that would enable her to get up to and down from the bed on her own.
Ya - I also wanted to have my Ali-Cab Canopy Camper useable when the pop top was down. Except I found a great quality used office chair (hacked it to an inch of its life-:). If you can't fit it in the bag, it has to stay home. That's the right attitude. It's still a Landi, not a converted school-bus. Thank you so much - so fun designing and seeing this build come to life. And too right, better to invest on reliability up front than get stuck out in the bush and pay 10x more to get recovered, the parts, etc. We've definitely learned this lesson over the years!
Excellent walk around, I wonder if LR get in touch with you about any upgrades at all. Next one is what do you use for Wi-Fi etc, have you access to satellites or do you just use different country codes etc
Thank you! We've never worked with Land Rover but would love to if the opportunity ever arises. For wifi, we usually just get a new SIM card in each country and then hotspot our laptop.
We had a really basic setup in the Arctic, if we go somewhere below freezing in the future we would have to come up with a different solution for water storage as this tank is exposed to the elements
Hey! Glad you enjoyed it! Are you looking for the figures for just what we spent on the the interior cabinetry, or a rundown on everything including the roof conversion, products (fridge, sink, induction, battery setup, solar, etc)? I don't have it all priced up but it's something I could pull together pretty easily I think!
@@servus1556 Not including any products (roof conversion, fridge, sink, taps, water system, electrical system, windows, etc) we spent around £2,800 on the cabinetry/camper side of things. That includes things like: - insulation - the raw sheets of birch ply for all the cabinetry - the laminate and bonding services for the birch ply (we had laminate bonded to our birch so it was easy to maintain and clean) - CNCing - bamboo worktop - upholstery foam - upholstering of the cushions - the flooring - the hinges and fixtures Seems like a lot, but when you compare it to the £18,000 quote we got from a company to build it almost to this same spec, I must say I'm pretty pleased. Glad we decided to do most of it ourselves. Disclaimer: I'm sure there's some things I'm forgetting on this list or random things we bought that I didn't put on my excel doc, but that is a good estimate.
Thanks so much for sharing your great and informative video. So many good nuggets of advice😊👍 We are in the UK and looking for a 110 to start to build up for two and two dogs🐶 What are your thoughts on the engine? Not sure which way to go. 300tdi, td5 or newer puma? All pluses and minuses. The hard part is finding an older well preserved truck. All exciting and once again so good to see a well put together and sorted truck like yours. Wishing you many wonderful future adventures 😁🚒🖐️
All depends on your budget really, I’d probably say if you plan on taking it to far flung corners of the world a 300tdi in good condition or fully rebuilt would be best. But if you don’t really want to rebuild you’re more likely to get a Puma with a better body condition and lower mileage. The Defender market is really all over the place, my advice would be don’t worry about the age of the Defender as even the newest defender is about 7 years old now and things will need replacing on it, so just spend your time looking for one that’s been well looked after. A 1990 rebuilt Defender is a better buy than your average 2015 Defender in my opinion.
Heya, great video! Really loving the differentiated experience-insight + also including some important mechanical parts 🚀 Is there any information about the inside design + plans that you used to CNC the parts? Would even be willing to buy them. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys great build, I love it!! question: Is there any reason, in particular, y'all chose 2000 w cap for your solar? eg safety based on the size of your home.
Thank you! We went with a 2000W inverter because the highest powered item we have is our induction cooktop at 1500W. Anything above 2000W for our current setup would have been overkill and since we're tight on space it made sense to stick to the smaller 2000W inverter. If we had any appliances that were at the 1800W mark or higher we would have gone with a high capacity inverter. Hope this helps!

You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed 😊
Awesome build. Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :):) 🍻👍🏼😁
Thank you! Cheers!
@@EXPEDITIONROVE …👍🏼😁
class build love it you have everything bet it cost a fortune to do though all top gear if your going to do it do it right . Great build 10 out of 10
Thank you! Nearly 2 years in an still loving it 😊
AHHH LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!
Thank you so much guys!!!🥰🧡
Outstanding build. Well thought out. Looks like no expense spared to make it reliable 👍
Thank you so much - so fun designing and seeing this build come to life. And too right, better to invest on reliability up front than get stuck out in the bush and pay 10x more to get recovered, the parts, etc. We've definitely learned this lesson over the years!
OMG I am in love with you guy and your car, what a rocket....
Thank you!
LOVE THE ORANGE COLOR 🟠
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this awesome inspiration!! Great build 😍
Ah thank you so much! Really appreciate it
Love your videos content
You really need to update more way more please 🙏🏽
Thank you so much! Working on it!
Did you have your water tank when you were in the arctic circle? Does the water freeze in it?
We had a really basic setup in the Arctic, if we go somewhere below freezing in the future we would have to come up with a different solution for water storage as this tank is exposed to the elements
Thanks guys for sharing this video! Especially the Indoor part is amazing! Do you want to share how much the Interior expansion was?
@@EXPEDITIONROVE Im just looking for the interior cabinetry (wooden lining, kichten area, fly screen, etc.)
. Would be lovely of you.
@@servus1556 Not including any products (roof conversion, fridge, sink, taps, water system, electrical system, windows, etc) we spent around £2,800 on the cabinetry/camper side of things. That includes things like:
- insulation
- the raw sheets of birch ply for all the cabinetry
- the laminate and bonding services for the birch ply (we had laminate bonded to our birch so it was easy to maintain and clean)
- CNCing
- bamboo worktop
- upholstery foam
- upholstering of the cushions
- the flooring
- the hinges and fixtures
Seems like a lot, but when you compare it to the £18,000 quote we got from a company to build it almost to this same spec, I must say I'm pretty pleased. Glad we decided to do most of it ourselves.
Disclaimer: I'm sure there's some things I'm forgetting on this list or random things we bought that I didn't put on my excel doc, but that is a good estimate.
Thanks so much for sharing your great and informative video.
So many good nuggets of advice😊👍
We are in the UK and looking for a 110 to start to build up for two and two dogs🐶
What are your thoughts on the engine?
Lovely. Where do you store your clothes ?
We carry a duffel bag each that we leave in the bag and just move them to the front seats when we park up
thats amazing, i bet your glad your engine built your engine😁
absolutely! so pleased with it and it's great to have peace of mind on the engine rebuild
cheers, I'm waiting for the next video from you guys
Hopefully coming soon! We're thinking of doing more regular videos from our Africa trip....
Great video! Love the layout, do you mind me asking who did the CAD for you, and did they also make it? All the bast for your travels.

Heya, great video! Really loving the differentiated experience-insight + also including some important mechanical parts 🚀
Is there any information about the inside design + plans that you used to CNC the parts? Would even be willing to buy them. Thanks in advance!

Thank you! We're hoping to do more during our upcoming Africa trip to share more fo the on-the-road adventure!
Best build I’ve seen! ❤
Such a huge compliment, thank you!
Beautiful car!!
Thank you!
Nice set-up.
Thank you!
Wow! Great build!!
Thank you!!
This is a dream!
