    Just got a 50 year old 110. It's been a dream of mine to own and rebuild a 110 from as far back as I can remember....always loved them. My mechanic builds racecars and I have very basic knowledge of cars... but that's all about to change. This may take me years, but I am SO excited just to finally have this old girl. She has very little rust, and the engine is actually running, if you can believe it(I don't know if it is the original... doesn't matter bc I am changing it) Just subscribed... no one here really does 90/110 rebuilds (at least when I first wanted to do this years ago), there are a few now as people are finally seeing the value in these... but no enthusiast clubs.

      Want to start a club along the lines you've suggested :) Just watched this from start to finish and its given me an appetite to do something similar.
      About to do a 110 restomod myself.
      Mike :)

    When you were over heating on the mountain and you had your hood open.... I could tell your Belt is loose... this will cause your water pump to not pump enough coolant around. Adjust your belt and you will see it cools better and your battery will charge better. Cheers

    Dave, you know I ‘love’ ❤ all that you guys do at Mahker, but this is thee BEST episode you’ve ever produced…of course it’s featured a Military Defender, (although not a Wolf, which you know I evangelise about), I’m desperate to do some rallies like Scram etc. I’ve been slowly upgrading as much as I can myself…I just need a lottery win to get you to finish ‘Project Darwin’ off for me !

    What’s the BM engine going to be like on other countries less refined fuel? The 200tdi is perfect for throwing many different grade fuels in.

    • @hypotheticallywhatiskyle
      @hypotheticallywhatiskyle 9 месяцев назад

      As long as you run two fuel filters (and probably a water separator) it’ll be absolutely fine, it will just detune itself

      @wearemahker  Год назад +1

      Thanks. Would love to be able to do that for Dave but that episode is a compilation of almost a years worth of footage and took four days to put together. The build take anywhere from three months to a year to complete in some cases so we just wouldn’t be putting any content out if we did it this way. We’re harvesting footage of each build now so that when they are finished we can put a video out like this and in between it’ll still be the weekly updates from the workshop so there is regular content. Thanks for the feedback

    Sad to see how in Morocco the asphalt is reaching every single village... I'll say it's good for the people who live there, but for us is not the same. I also drove that road in 2019, from Kalaat M'Gouna, through the Valley of the Roses, we reached that mountain pass, Tizi n' Ait Hamad, (more than 3000m) and in fact that road crosses 3 mountain passes and all of them around 3000m high and that road finishes in a place called Tabant (we saw something super nice there, don't know if you saw it too, next to the road, in the village)... we went in 2019, october, temperature was nice, offroad because there was no asphalt, and driving a Dacia Duster 4x2, was super fun and the car very capable through some snow... I also own a 90 300Tdi and a 110 Tdi200... A 200 is a very reliable engine, but of course is not a high rpm engine, more a torque engine, so high speed, no bueno, amigo. Anyway, thanks for sharing the video, was super entertaining. Keep up the good work. Don't be like Dave!

    Nice job. I've been running 110s in deserts since the 80s.
    Couple of questions. What have you got in the rear diff? Did you put an ATB in the centre diff? And are you running a cooler for the gearbox?
    Did you upgrade the fuel filter/separator? Lastly how much fuel can you carry.?
    Cheers
    Pat
