Ken Block Teaches His 13-Year-Old Daughter To Do Donuts... in the Gymkhana Ford Escort!

  • It’s pretty crazy how fast things are changing day to day here in Utah. One week ago my family and I built a mini-Gymkhana GRiD practice course inside my Hoonigan Racing workshop ( • Gymkhana Grid: Stay At... ), and this week my daughter Lia and I are at an actual race track with an entire paddock to ourselves.
With my ’78 Ford Escort Mk2 RS in tow, and an eager 13-year-old showing more interest in the finer art of HOONING, I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the limited re-opening of UMC (Utah Motorsports Campus) for a day of GYM-Class, teaching Lia proper technique for doing donuts!
And even though the RWD Gymkhana Escort may be one of the “easier” cars in my fleet to drive - she quickly learns that it’s not as easy as it looks - and you’ll have to watch the full episode to see how she does on her first time out!

    B) I think the world will miss Ken Block.

She raced at cleetus mcfarlands race event yesterday and cleetus did a huge 300 drone tribute for her dad at the end of the race , it’s on RUclips and a beautiful emotional tribute. Seeing her get out there and actually racing in an event shows such strength and her determination in taking on the Hoonigan brand,..I’m SO happy for her that she and Ken have been driving together and getting her into the Hoonigan drag races etc since 13 years old. Ken apparently gave her the Hoonicorn and that’s why she’s been driving it in the this verses that “ episodes. She’ll take it on and over and I believe this will be SO good for her in staying close to her dad in spirit . I think she’s going to be a legendaryWRC driver, she’s already KILLING it in the rally events she’s done . They live up the canyon from me and man they’re in our prayers and Lens so massively missed . I know people posting comments like yours really help them. Rest in peace Ken, love you Lea! 💜

Imho, it heavily depends on the "hobby". When you're get used doing hard stuff that costs tons of money and effort to practice only, not talking about repairs and upgrades - well, it teaches you a lot. Being humble, being focused, grind this thing everyday really hard, understand how things work and what processes are going on... and if you're beginner, you wait until spare parts come up when you mess up your gear, count your money and days until next purchase, etc.
And when you are decades in this, and even managed to earn some fame and money doing your thing on top of that - welp, you're sure thing know shit about it. You know how hard it can be, and how much sweat and tears are left behind to get here. You sure will be easy on someone new, taking first steps, and will try to support him/her/them, knowing that he/she/they really gonna need that support, especially in the begining.

Always want a bike, electricity car... None towards to my business😂😂... It okay, that their life... Mybe should sell my company, for their dream... Im also grow up and have ambition and dream in motorsport, but cant afford it.. Because of family status, poor and always got condemnation from neighbours, friend and sometime my teacher... But now i relize they push me to suscessful in electrical company... No hard felling, and im still help them even they make me like a rubbish... It a past, im not loke them.. And I'm not going to do like them to me... Thanks for bullying me, this suscess because of they... And always help person like me... And once you give them money or anything else.. You will get the reward from something never expect, believe me.. When you are truth with poor live and you think you need help.. But if you spend your money or other stuff to help people, Your income will increase without knowing from where you got the opportunity or eroperty even a huhe money..... Try it, i guareenty you all will fell like im do, But must do with its simplicity.... Should try it..

    Wow... I'm 24 right now.
I still remember that day well. I was 17 and it was my first time with stick shift. Dad took me to an open ground where I learnt to drive, braking, emergency braking (without ABS), parallel parking, those 8 figure courses.
I drove 2 days and on the third he told me to drive outside the city to a village and in a busy street (I had my learner's license). And that's it.
I mean, the ground was sandy with rocks and stuff, it was Tata Indigo 1.2 L Diesel Car and not a Monster rally car from 1980s, we weren't doing drifting or donuts, but still I feel nostalgic. Love you, Dad.
I'll be driving with him next week for this exam I'm taking some 400 kms from my city.

Coming back to these videos all this time later it just reminds me of how good of a teacher Ken was and how well Lia is taking everything in. You can see when Ken is going around the cone Lia is jumping between looking at where the car is, where his hands are and what theyre doing and what he is doing with the pedals, she is taking in every little detail with as much focus as she can and knowing now how good of a driver she has become it shows both a level of natural talent, intense focus and wanting to learn, and a drive to be the best that she can at whatever gets her adrenaline pumping. I know she will be a great racer and likely even one of the greats we talk about for years to come. This is the level of dedication I hope to show in anything I do.

When I was 12 my Dad bought me a 1964 VW bug, within a month I had cut the thing down to a Baha. He turned me loose on a thirty thousand+ acher game reserve with core property that backed up to it, it had access and logging roads all over it. I learned to drive and to repair my own car with that bug. The lessons I learned in that time I know has been instrumental in getting me out of some situations that I should have died in behind the wheel. The lords hand and the experiences I had driving those dirt roads and trails at full throttle that is. When I look back I have mixed emotions. The fun and enjoyment are mixed with the emotion of what I did to that classic six-volt system mint condition bug. But I would not trade the memories for anything in this world, I know just how blessed I was to have gotten to experience those thing and just how much my father loved me!

So great to watch this as a father. I think if you'd ask her back then she would've said she's the luckiest 13 yr. girl out there. What a great tribute to a guy who was so patient while he taught her, how he always made sure she understood homework and good grades came with his reward of this for her. Here's hoping that all of his closest buddies rally around her to be her "uncles" out of their love for him. It's what my friends since High School (40+ years ago) would have done for each other if this happened unfortunately to one of us. "Proud Dad moment", indeed Ken Block, indeed. One she will never forget, cherish the memories sweet Lia.
