      Hello, Thanks for the positive comment. All of the spray paint that I used was an acrylic spray paint. But, before you lay any coat of paint on the surfboard you must clean and make sure that all of the wax, film and dirt is removed. Do NOT use acetone to remove any of the wax, etc. acetone will eat through the resin layers down to the foam. I used Goof-Off but, you can use any wax remover made specifically for surfboards. Some people will even take a very fine grit sand paper and sand the areas where the paint will be laid. This way the paint sticks better, however, I didn't do that and the paint on my board has never come off or chipped and I use this board often.
      Make sure you let each layer of paint dry fully. I'd spray paint each layer, let it bake in the sun and dry for a few hours per layer, then I'd go back and add all extra layers allowing each coat to dry fully. This process does take longer however, you will not have to worry about any of the paint to chip off or smear. Also, I finished off the paint job with an acrylic clear coat and allowed it to bake in the hot Florida sun for 1 day. This will ensure your paint jobs protection. 🤙

    Hey, how well does the spray last? Is it chipping?

    • @joeypaesano
      @joeypaesano  2 года назад

      +Jaydon Devaux The paint last. I’ve used this DHD a lot this past summer and it still looks the exact same as when I 1st painted it.
      Make sure to use acrylic paint and then use an acrylic clear coat to seal the paint. You’ll get no chipping or peeling. I also let each coat of paint dry and bake in the sun.

      @@joeypaesano thanks a lot man! I’ve been wanting to paint my board for a while now but didn’t want the paint to start chipping and making a mess. Great videos btw, new subscriber here.🤙

      @@jaydondevaux9892 I really appreciate the Sub! Thank you 🤙🏽
      I plan on doing a few more surfboard artwork videos.. they’ll be coming.
      Honestly, I haven’t had any chipping, peeling or fading at all. Even when I put wax on the board and remove it, it doesn’t affect the paint either.
      It will take a little patience in between coats because you need the coats to dry. Plus, the acrylic clear coat needs to dry.

      @@joeypaesano I have a follow up question; if I paint the bottom of my board (it’s an older board so it’s a little yellow and I want to paint it white) do you think it would slow it down or is it slick enough?

      I LOVE when it rains! I even enjoy our thunderstorms, it's so calming. One of the great advantages of living here in Florida (as you know) is the endless lakes, rivers and one great big ocean you can always drop a line in and fish.

    Do you have to put a clear coat on the paint for it not to cheep off ? I own a 7,6 I don’t have track pads

    • @joeypaesano
      @joeypaesano  3 года назад +1

      Hello Estevan. Yes, make sure you use a clear gloss acrylic spray paint. I’ve never had an issue with the paint chipping or cracking. It’s safe to wax too and the wax comes off easily with a wax comb or scraper.
      After painting my surfboard I did spray the acrylic clear coat gloss and let it bake in the sun for about 4 hours.
      My suggestion is to let your surfboard lay out in the sun & dry. Then let the clear coat set & harden in a well ventilated area (ex: patio) for a few days before waxing it & going into the water.
      Honestly, the paint will not come off. I hope this answer helps you.
