I always find it amazing how much thought you put into your projects and not just throw something together like I have seen on some other channels. I have always tried to do the same, but you have brought up excellent points that even I wouldn't have thought of until sometime after the fact. That's one reason I soooo enjoy your channels! Can't wait to see Parts 2 & 3💜💜💜
Thank you for the kind words and support.
I agree. He makes it look to easy. Lol. I’m guilty of throwing stuff together because of my limited time on my property. Probably that and not having all the skills Andrew has. 😂
As a flat bed truck driver i REALLY appreciate the thought put into delivery. It is unbelievable at some of the job sites i have delivered to that have zero thought put into deliveries
More people should think about this.
I love your fence, and your supervisor is on the job. Great job Andrew. It’s nice to see your thinking of the safety for getting delivery driver off the road.
Thank you for watching
Another great video Andrew 👏. I am a truck driver and I appreciate you thinking about us. I am so glad you went to 90 ft. instead of 80 ft.,it puts us at ease coming into a driveway. The fence looks great, 4 board definitely looks bigger. I like your thought process when it comes to doing stuff. Looking forward to the gate video.
I've never had a sleeper truck deliver here, it's always smaller local terminal trucks. I should have plenty of room for them.
Nice inside corner detail.....Just what I was looking for. Need the same on my farm gate entrance.
Glad you like it!
Gates and fencing, ranchers life. Great job!
I have literal miles more of fencing to do, I'm not looking forward to it lol.
@@TKCL I am there with you with the amount of property boundary I would like to fence, but at 72 years of age it won’t ever happen in my lifetime. “Keep on Keeping on!” Tim in northern TN (formerly Lakeland, FL)
Looks great...always love how you explain everything you are doing and why...a true teacher for sure! Can't wait to see the rest of the videos building this fence and gate.
Thank you for watching
Hi, Andrew! This is a good project. You have obviously put a lot of thought into your planning. Mr. Thinker Tinkerer, I hope you create a playlist for this project. I like to go back and watch completed projects.
Thank you for the support and suggestions.
Looks awesome, as usual, Andrew! We are going to 4 rail our entrance too...bought the lumber 2 years ago or more...just haven't got to it! Tractor Hard! 🚜💪!
Always another project to tackle.
It's not that you haven't got to it, it's just in the planning phase, that's my excuse anyways. :)
Looks great! Can’t wait to see the gate!
Turned out really really nice ! Simple and straightforward = ) The only thing I would have done differently is to cut the posts an inch above the top rail either sloped or, better still, then capping them with some sheet lead or copper. A massive help to longevity by keeping water from sitting on the end grain of the post. Maybe not necessary in all situations but a little advice for others = )
Andrew as usual you have put a lot of thought into your project. What a beautiful entrance to your property. Nice job!! ❤️❤️👍👍🎄🎄🇨🇦
Thank you sir
Excellent class in building a 4 board. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching
I hire you to put my finances up I love the way you plan everything out
Good information just saying
Great build as always. Glad to see you had Inspector Ruger on site keeping an eye on hole depth and board placement!!👍
He's always watching
Fence is looking great Andrew. Cant wait to see what you come up with for the metal fence.
Coming soon
The fence looks amazing.
Thank you
That is a great looking fence. Love the thought you put into it.
Thank you
Cashway is an amazing place and the staff is very friendly I've only been in there once or twice since i live in Live Oak FL but would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cashway
Agreed! I use to have a business in Live Oak many years ago.
Are you talking about cashway in Perry I live in O'Brien FL
Yes in Perry Florida. I'm familiar with Obrien, spent a lot of time over that way.
That fence will look awesome when its complete.
Excellent fence build! That fence is not going anywhere, period, solidly built! I recommend a Security Key Pad, Cameras, Energy Efficient Lighting and a Large Package dropbox to go along with your gate.
A lot of that will be happening. Thanks!
This is a good and timely video. We are replacing rotted posts in our driveway. One of our cypress ponds went dry this summer and we found a bunch of sunken pond cypress logs in perfect condition. We are planing to use a few of them for new gate posts. We are running 2 12ft farm gates across and put a SpeeCo latch in the middle. They can lock if ever need be. You can use U bolts to mount a speeCo latch to both gates, if you lack a middle post. We plan to add wheels to both sides. I have 2 way speeCos in my barn and padture gates and I love them! Eventually we will replace it all with nice security gates if we stay on this property long term lol. I keep getting unsubscribed somehow lol.
Nice find on the cypress!
Outstanding fence. Looks great.
Thank you
Always enjoy your videos. I have similar needs for getting horse trailers and big truck and trailers off of a skinny 2 lane busy road out front. I have put a pipe entrance 80 foot in from the road. Because of the weight of pipe gates I went with 2 10 foot gates instead of 1 20 foot gate. They swing in towards the home and barns. Looks good and works well. Had the gate openers installed by professionals though. Got tired of getting out and opening gates or forgetting to shut gates. lol
Good luck with your project.
Thank you, I've got a rather robust system going in for opening it.
Well done Andrew!
Can’t wait for the gate!
Thank you for watching
Well done Andrew. Next you and Tiffany will want to go down the whole front for the road. Future projects
Don't remind me 😒🤣
Looks like a professional job
Thank you
Great video! Cool to see your entrance. Never seen this part of your property!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks great man!! Excited for this series! Lots of awesome solar powered fence openers on the market…
We have one of the best to install soon with all the goodies.
Cap the post or cut at an angle for water runoff. You can use roofing tar at this point. Sure is nice looking
I do plan to tar the tops since we are staining the fence black.
If I am worried about rotting post, I use tar and cloth sheets to rap the part of the pole in the ground. Knock on wood, I have never had the any problems with the pole in the ground.
Looks great! That's one of our next projects.
Thanks
I was wondering when you was going to update your entrance. Looks good!
A couple of years ago I dragged home a bunch of long pallets to redo some wood on the perimeter fence of my property, haven't done jack-all with it though since I forgot entirely that air tools need power and there isn't an extension cord long enough for me to reach the 3/4 of an acre to the roadway LOL Since that time I have gathered different tools to achieve my goal - there is currently stock fence encompassing the entire acre, but it has the road-facing portion with a wood facade to create the "fancy look" So soon I will be replacing the broken or messed up boards and will be painting the tops of the support posts purple, far more polite and endearing than the no trespassing signs. I do wonder where that purple idea came from though.
Oddly enough we don't use the purple method here.
Looks great man and well explained
Glad you enjoyed it
that looks awsome and i know you will make a few drivers happy they dont havr to do a 100 point turn intothe property!
Yes! The UPS guy has already thanked me for thinking about putting the gate off of the road.
I missed your blasting nail gun:))) The fence looks very solid.
Don't worry, there is electrical coming soon for this project 🤣
That looks so nice ❤
Thank you
Looks great
Thanks
Great job, looks stellar!!
Thank you
We like the Kentucky four board fence you built. Are you going to paint it the traditional black color. You did an excellent job building the fence and it looks very nice and it one of our favorite fence designs. Looking forward to seeing your gate you design and build
We are going to stain it black after the lumber dries for a few months. Paint chips and doesn't seem to last. Gate video coming soon.
Damn that fence looks Good!!! 💪💪
Thank you
Impressive!
Great Job
Thanks
Nice work! Looks great!
Thanks a lot!
Hi, Evan! The gate looks great
You've been watch Country View Acres too much Mrs Pam 😊
@@TKCL oops! I bet I sent your message to Evan.
Looking good sir!👌
Thank you
Looks great man!!
Thank you
👍thank you.
BTW... Great Job.
How are you going to attach the existing fence to your new one? Love how it looks so far. Can't wait to see the gate.
I'm just going to wrap the rusty old barbed wire to the new posts. In the future we will run new wire all the way down.
As a future CDL driver, I find it amazingly awesome how you went into such thought as of thinking of the driver! Thank you Andrew!
Weird random question, may I ask the brand/style of boots you wear? I am in the market for a good comfortable pair, with a comp/steel toe for work.
Thank you! I am wearing a pair of steel toe boots from Hi sea, very affordable and have been holding up well. They even have a lifetime warranty.
They sponsored me a while back, try this link for the boots Mens steel toe boots: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=2360688&u=3376612&m=122274&urllink=&afftrack=

18:00 sounds very suspicious to me. 😂 “Management” always disappears when the work needs to get done.
Lol 🤣
Hey love the videos. Also it must be nice to work with sand soil, I live in middle GA and we have mostly red GA clay and that stuff is hard to dig in. Hope you have a good one.
I love our soil, rock free and easy to dig. With that said we have big pockets of land on the property with the red clay you describe, it's like concrete.
❤❤❤❤
Great video, very useful. Question I have is, how do you keep the height of each pole fixed- I assume you work your way from the bottom up using the boards as guides, but just wanted to confirm. Thanks again.
Many ways to do it. I did some quick math to include gaps and board widths to know my final height. I started with the bottom run keeping every board level. Then all you have to do is measure off the fist run for the remainder of the the other runs.
Andrew have you considered increasing your culverts to make turn in easier?
I'm not going to do that again. It was insane the paperwork and inspections required by the road department for the last one. Literally 9 pages of engineered drawings and they required me to out this size in. It wasn't cheap either.
Make the gate post holes square or they will rotate in the holes when stressed. Hinge alignment is critical, especially when using operators. 30 plus years experience here in Florida.
Thanks, good idea on square.
Roger my conture you do it right
👍👍
Ohhh.... I think I see a new solar gate opener project coming up!!!😂
🤫
So, I've watched about 10 or so of your videos, and I have to know, what did you do before you went full time RUclips? What's your background? Reason I'm asking is because not just anybody can whip out a well-rounded, quality plethora of projects like you do. Leo
I was a manager at a paper mill before going full time on RUclips. I don't have any welding or construction experience. If there is something I want to learn, I go for it and I'm not afraid to fail.
@@TKCL Well man, you're killin it for sure! Top quality builds on everything I've seen so far. Keep up the good work.
How about where the Driveway meets the Highway? I would think it would be a good idea to widen the access area there. I would think it might keep a truck out of the swale or ditch.
Is there a code that states how wide this must be? Is there a Limit to the width?
Can you create an access area for the USPS vehicles to get to your mailbox?
There is code and engineering that's required, it's very expensive. My driveway is to code per our road department.
I would of cut the 6x6 up rights 1 or 2 inches obove the cross boards a put a 6x6 post cap with or without solar lights to protect the top end grain.
Thats just me though.
Another great job.
God bless.
We discussed this and didn't want the distraction of 18 lights by the highway, people don't need to be seeing that. We will light up the gate and keypad area.
@@TKCL use just caps to protect the end grain or you can treat them yearly to prevent moisture penetration.
That's why I said with or without the lights.
Although the post are treated the top grain will absorb moisture.
Any way love the content.
I understand, I am sealing the tops and we are staining the entire fence after it drys.
Hot Dang and new video doing something cool
See it isn't all firewood 🙄
@@TKCL I have been a loyal watcher of your channel since the beginning, it’s always been educational, Thanks
I know, I recognize your name often. Thanks for the support.
Does code in your area require the boards on the fence to be on the outside of your property. In my state they require the boards to be on the outside of your property.
Looks fantastic! 6x6 post definitely look good! What size gravel do u recommend?
I get #5 rock locally, it's very comparable to the #57 rock everyone knows about. Gravel also works well. Anything that can not seal and allow drainage will work.
Clean stone drains but it moves around under tires. "modified" stone or basically everything 3/4" and below compacts, but isnt water permeable. I recommend modified, but must slope 1/4" per foot so water drains. If water puddlea anywhere, youll get potholes. Too much slope=water runs off fast and carries the fines with it. Too little slope= water ponds and creates potholes. Raise the final grade 2" above the surrounding grade, and slope the dirt away from the roadbed. Most important thing for driveways=water management.
There are chemical mixes that work better to hold the posts and protect the post against rotting and they have no shrinking. You likely know but just thought I would mention it.
If your referring to the foam, I'm not sold on its long term reliability. It's not solid enough to not deform over time with heat and cold ground expansion, plus twisting and shrinking of posts.
Some people can afford more than others in these hard economic times.
I'd say if your broke as we once were, it's time to reevaluate your situation, expenses and change habits. Best decision we ever made.
do you have a 30 ft culvert wide. it also depends which way you are coming off the road. does Tiffany charge you for helping you, now you put a TKCL on the gate. be bless and safe. SAVANNAH TN.
I think it's 33ft if I remember correctly, I had to follow the road departments requirements. You'll be happy with the gate 😉
Looking at building a small 20x20 boxed garden fence. Always wondered why you and others just dry fill the whole with cement instead of pre mixing and pouring? How long does it take for the dry cement to actually cure doing it that way?
For something non structural, dry pour works great as you can pack the post in and it's solid. When you pre mix you typically brace the post and let it set overnight. Cure time for dry pour really depends on the moisture content in the soil or rain. Could be ready next day, or take a long while waiting for rain.
@@TKCL appreciate the knowledge
Going to widen the widen the entrance over the ditch? Could you do a dual gate?
Entrance over the ditch?? Not sure what you mean. If you mean the road, absolutely not. All kinds of rules, permits and cost associated with driveways. Not doing a dual gate, I want a single. Less stuff to tear up and have to always be in harmony with each other.
Leaving it natural or painting it? It would probably look sharp in white, but that might be too much too.
Staining black after it dries out for a few months.
I see the mail box out by the road, is there enough room for tractor trailer to make the turn?
Yes
You gonna do a solar gate system there
Yes sir!
That is a nice entrance Andrew! I have a question though. How come you cut-off the access to the road paralleling the boundary fence? Seems like you mow that area.
I have already made paths through the lines to access those areas.
Have you considered a sliding gate instead of a swinging gate? Are you having an opener?
This whole project started due to a very generous viewer sending out a nice gate kit, I'll be installing that soon.
Where did you get your string tool? Looks better than ones I see. How long is it?
It's a kite string, watch this short I made and the link is in the video description to the product. ruclips.net/user/shorts15cL13j5duo?feature=share
I’m needing to build about 200-275’ of fence
That's doable there's miles of this stuff around here.
👀👀
👀👀👀
👀👀👀👀👀
You doing a longer culvert?
Nope, crazy regulations here from the road department.
@@TKCL Jefferson county, go figure. Lol.
It's your place but I would cut some of those trees. Seen too many fences, side walks, etc get ruined because of root growth. Any tree or even shrub that with 6-8 foot of anything can cause the ground to heave up over time as the roots grow. Suddenly your fence isn't level anymore. It sucks to go back in 5 yrs and have to rebuild the whole thing because your small tree grew just a bit.
Something to consider, but I love our trees.
Build you a Aluminum gate
Not currently welding aluminum, that's something I plan to learn soon. I don't want my gate to be my learning curve.
Is there anything you cannot do?
Plenty, but that's not going to stop me from trying.
Uno
Got it!
Unusual that the delivery truck was spelled "Kashway" when the business in Perry is spelled "Cashway". What gives?
You're looking at it wrong, it is a C, but their logo has a house in it and the house wall is close to the C making it appear like a K.
