  • After a few weeks of being held up in my room between shifts, I finally decided to head out to do a bit of street photography with the Lomo'Instant Wide. I figured I'd do a first impressions of this camera as I've had it for awhile now.
    Hopefully one day I look more comfortable on camera.

    TIME STAMPS:
    Street Photography (4:24), First Impressions (12:12)
    I apologize for the lack of energy on this video. Work was REALLY rough this week and I was pressed on time for releasing this. I'm going to try something different on the next video and just go unscripted to see what the response is. That'll be another Wednesday upload, so stay on the lookout. Also, please don't forget to comment/like/subscribe - it'd all really help the channel out.
    I'm planning to do more reviews to boost up the numbers, and I hate doing ones where I just stand in front of camera, so let me know what you'd all like to see.
    Cheers,
    Manuel.

    ‘Too much talk’ was my first impression, as a first time viewer. However, having watched the entire video I must say Manuel, you have at least as much talent to be in front of a camera, as you have behind one. 👍

    Dude, this video is so well put together! Very extensive and fun, Instax wide as a format itself is still my top choice for instant!

      Thank you! I really put my all into these first impressions/reviews, so I appreciate the feedback. I'm really looking forward to doing the full review as soon as this situation calms down a bit.

    i would agree with you whole heartedly!!! definitely the lomoinstant wide over the polaroid one step plus. absolutely agree. The lomoinstant wide is a great camera. ive had mine now for three years, and it definitely takes some getting use to when properly exposing. the more i used it, the more familiar i got with the light meter on the camera. i would definitely lean more toward underexposing an image while standing outside. its a great camera once you get use to how it works and meters. the lens gives it a dream look, very "lomography" if you get what i mean.
    whats funny is that my camera also started jamming after a while. i hate when it does it, and usually it is the very first frame.... after the first frame, typically it starts working just fine.
    all in all, i like this camera. i like the film format as well too since i feel like instax gives more consistent results when compared with polaroid originals.

      After seeing how bad the Polaroid film holds up after just a few months in a fridge, I couldn't agree with you more about the consistent results. It's such a coin toss with Polaroid film - not even discussing their issues with the temperature giving the film a color shift..

    omg this is the content Ive been looking for, this is amazing Manuel. I just bought into lomo this year and feel you on the overall design..they do have add on lenses for the wide. Id also recommend their square! Anyway thanks for this, look forward to more!

      Thanks, Elizabeth! This means a lot to hear as I'm getting ready to get back into the RUclips grind.
      And I am looking into the square! I was ready to snag up a RB67 instax back from Coyote Camera Works, but now they're gone. ='[

    Made it 7 seconds into this video and I'm seeing NIN and Misfits patches. Thumbs up just for that! Hopefully the rest of the video is just as good. Rock on!

    Great video, thanks so much! I'm looking to switch out my Polaroid OneStep+ due to how difficult I find it to use and some of the issues you mentioned. Was torn between the Instax Wide 300 and this Lomo'Instant Wide, do you have experience with both? Which would you recommend?

    Mine jams on every pack and blows out everything in bright sun. I have a 500af coming from Japan to replace my lomo. Maybe 1 in 15 pictures is in focus. When the focus is right it does look amazing but I have way too many out of focus family pictures.

    whats up Manuel, really liked this video man. you had alot to say, I wish I had your gift of gab. you werent trying to be funny but theres some pretty funny parts. for some reason I cant get fired up with instant photos. maybe its because the colors or the softer focus. then again I have a baby photo of myself that was taken with a Land camera and its a very well shot image from a studio. the film jamming sucks because each frame is cha ching. I need those boots man you might wanna put amazon affilliate links to your wardrobe. then again its not the rags but the man in them.

      Hey Ray! Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm actually going to try going off script for the next one - I feel wayyyy too robotic on these videos, especially when I'm super tired, and I think that's a major reason why people dont hang around.
      Idk man. This is the first time I've been this consistent and I def need to send you that film this week before the usps shuts down. Lol

    What type of battery do you use for the lens cap? Can’t seem to get mines to work.

    Thanks for all the great info. I have the Fuji 300 wide and the Fuji mini 90 Neo Classic that I really like because of all the modes and its smaller size and vintage looks. But I'm hoping they come up with a wide that has more mode's and more professional controls. I have an Ebay bid on one of these right now. You might want to check out Forest Hills Film Lab's take on this Lomo camera too. Thanks for the video, well done.

    So I actually had my first lomo'instant replaced because the film kept getting stuck. Guess what? Exact same problem with the new one, sooo annoying! Also, most of the pictures I take outside come out overexpose (even with the -1 setting). I'm seriously thinking about getting the Fujifilm Instax wide 300 :(

    • @ManuelGuzmanPhotography
      @ManuelGuzmanPhotography  3 года назад +2

      I haven't had issues with my replacement thus far, but I haven't had many opportunities to use it either given the pandemic, though I can see how they could easily fail given my first copy was just on the shelf. I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, though! Hopefully things will be better with the Fujifilm version. Tbh I don't even use that "extra features" on this camera that often, especially with the focus meter being so ambiguous.

      I have the same issues. It worked well at first but every pack gets jammed on the dark slide. I’ve seen other reviews on their square camera having the same issue. I will not be buying anymore of their instax cameras.

      Never mind I just got to the end of the video. It sounds like there are some problems with the zone focusing.

    Did you have any issues with overexposure? Other reviews report this. I'd love a Polaroid but the film is hard to get where I live (and costs about $4.30 per shot, which is crazy). Thanks

    • @ManuelGuzmanPhotography
      @ManuelGuzmanPhotography  4 года назад +2

      I had more issues with under-exposure whenever I tried to shoot backlit areas. Tbh it's more trial and error to see how it works best for you, but either way you'll find out if you got the shot within a few minutes as opposed to Polaroid having you wait half an hour. I end up shooting more with this camera than my OneStep - which I also did a review on.
      let me know if you have any other questions!

    Buen video, sobre todo por ir contra el riesgo de contagiarse. Algunas fotos salieron sobre expuestas pero se puede ver la riqueza de color en la fotos. Quería consultarte si sigues teniendo el problema con el atasco de las fotos. Gracias y saludos desde Perú.

    I think the jamming is down to the cartridges rather than the camera. My wide 210 does it sometimes too.

      Haha - thank you. It was great timing with your last video. I'm itching to try it out that instax-mini trick with RB, but I already spent a good amount of more Instax Wide film.

    Hi! what instant camera do you recomend between Polaroid Now and Lomo intax wide, there are so many bad comments about Lomo instax and i really confused, i don´t know which one its better.

    • @ManuelGuzmanPhotography
      @ManuelGuzmanPhotography  3 года назад +1

      Hey Paula! Simply based on price alone, I'm going to recommend any instax camera over Polaroid. Obviously aesthetics is a huge thing, but at the end of the day I feel I reach for my Instax cameras more often simply because the film is a lot cheaper and more reliable.

      @@ManuelGuzmanPhotography I live in Colombia (South America) , here the price of lomo instant is around 200 US and intax film (x20) between 20 to 25us and the price of polaroid now is 109us and film I type cost 33 us(x16) what do you think?
      Thanks for answer, I really appreciate that 🌞

      I can't tell you what camera is better for you and I'm never going to use the word "best" in a comparison. I can only repeat what I said in this video: if you're a heavy film shooter, Instax is always going to be cheaper in the long run.

      Hola @@paulagomez4340 , en Polaroid las versiones más lujosas son la sSX-70 o las versiones reparadas de MINT (USD 800.00 aprox.) Luego, en las nuevas cámaras one step 2, one step +, now y now +; creo que lo mejor está en one step + y now (cada una con sus defectos) .Lo que he visto por los videos es que el sistema de enfoque de estas nuevas polaroid funciona mejor desde el app (lo que es ilógico). Si aprendes a usar y tienes el presupuesto alguna de las SX70 sería una buena opción.
