    I bought an X-H2 a few days ago coming from an X-T3 and knowing that the X-T5 was about to get announced. My choice has nothing to do with video, it's all about ergonomics. For a few years I have been trying to convince myself that I love the small form factor and the analog controls of the X-T range. The truth is I just don't. With the X-H2 it's actually liberating to get a camera that really fit in the hand. I am also happy to get back the true and proven PASM system, it feels like I am meeting up with an old friend.

    Great video Reggie!!
    I personally stick Ith my good old XT3. It gives me good result and great experience so far. The 26mpx sensor and AF is enough for my needs. But if I had to choose rn, I'd go with the xt5. It's definitely an option, similar screen as the XT3, and improvements that might change my life (ibis, AF, autonomy, and bigger hand grip).
    Keep going, love your work.

    I have XT4 and sold my XT3 and have been sorry for that except for the IBIS. I don't do video so the XT4 is big overkill for what I do. I have pre-purchased the new X-T5 and patiently waiting for it to ship. They say shipping is to begin on 11/17 and I have my fingers crossed on close to the top of the list at B&H. I will sell the XT4 once the XT5 arrives. I still have XT1 and XT2 in my closet and never use them but just can't give up the XT1 - my first Fuji love. Great video and thanks for your efforts. As always, great video! This question is for anyone willing to put their two cents in. When shooting events, I myself shoot weddings (XT-4), do you guys actually use the retro dials while shooting? First off I can hardly see the values since I need glasses for reading up close so I stick with the front and rear dials. I recently purchased an XH2 and want to make sure I made the right decision. So far the only caveat for me with the XH2 is not being able to assign the iso to either front or back dial. Otherwise, I love the grip and balance most lenses. The PASM dial is not a big deal to me since it stays on Manual 100% of the time and I would love to know why other users dislike it. Thanks for reading!

    I changed from an X-T4 to an X-H2. 8 months later and I’m not finding the PASM dial to be as satisfying or straightforward as I had hoped. I miss the dials! So have just arranged to swap to an X-T5, and as I also use a X100VI it makes more sense and is easier when swapping between the 2 cameras as the photography process is so similar.

    Luckily I've the best of both worlds! I recently got the XH2 for my pro work (portraits, performing arts production events) as well as photography my own hyperactive kids 😂 I still use my XT4 for slower paced street, travel and candid photography. As much as I've always been in love of the XT series styling, and analogue experience, it is simply not fast enough for my clients' work where very fast settings change on the fly is needed as well as mounting heavy F1 / F1.4 lenses. The XH2 is perfect for my work and very comfortable to hold for a long day, whereas the XT4's analogue experience is perfect for my slower photography. Am also using the XT4 as a second body in my work whenever I need two cameras.

Furthermore for me the xt4 is too small for my hand, so like many of us, I added a grip but still is not perfect like my old 6d. So today if i would buy a new one, would be XH2s straight. As a sports photographer I would also like to have seen a CF Express card so as to eliminate buffer issues in burst mode. That pushes me towards the XH2, but the original appeal of Fuji were the retro dials and although I’ll keep the XT4 I’m a little nervous about switching between the XH and XT layout mid shoot when the heat is on to get the shot.

    I'd vote with X-H2 for the following reason.
    - The fully articulating screen is better both for videos and photos IMHO. Most importantly, I can keep it closed 99% of the time for regular angle shots (not low or high), as I always use the view finder for pictures.
    - The speed of the memory card on X-H2 is better. CFExpress is faster than SDcard.
    - I always hated the teeny HDMI. I want a chance to get rid of that and go to regular HDMI
    - Pasm vs not Pasm is a big deal for me. Regardless of the system, I control the variables of iso, shutter speed and f-stop.

    Long term XT3 user here, having some doubts with the X-T5 in a box in front of me! The difficulty in deciding is not really in the specs (a known quantity that favors the X-H2). The big question is - how does the handling of the X-H4 stack up to the X-T, can it be used in when the stakes are high (weddings / street / events / sport / wildlife) where autofocus mode switching and other settings need to be rapidly adjusted? Any thoughts on this?

    X-T5 will have twice as many features as my current camera which I consider to be very capable. You can't go wrong with the X-T5 even as a hybrid shooter. However X-H2 is more future proof. I just cannot decide between the X-H2S and the X-H2. Are the qualities of 8K video and 40 mpg stills in X-h2 really noticable when the images are cropped?

    I’ve been holding out on upgrading from my X-T3 which has been working great me for years now. I’m a bit on the fence about the X-T5, it seems promising but I think I need to see a solid enough improvement when it comes to AF (in the end result not just the detection, but that the camera actually focuses more accurately for fast-ish moving subjects), and when it comes to image quality. Will the trade-off between more megapixels and more hard drive space be justified? 26MP has for most use cases been more than enough for me so far. The crops in video are a bit or a downgrade compared to the X-T3, will that be balanced out somehow with other benefits on the X-T5?
    Otherwise the main reason I would go for the X-H2(s) is the ability to use the custom modes to pretty much have 7 different cameras I can switch between very quickly…

    • @Reggiebphoto
      @Reggiebphoto  Год назад

      the funny thing is, the custom modes could be mapped to the custom setting banks in the x-t5 if FujiFilm actually tweaked how their firmware works. I've been asking for this feature since the x-t3

    • @fadiheterjag
      @fadiheterjag Год назад

      @@Reggiebphoto yes but there will always be limitations in a body like the X-T3/5, since anything that is a physical dial could not be part of a custom mode. I’m talking drive mode, AF mode, iso, etc. Because then the setting on the dial and in the software would diverge and that would just break the whole experience of an X-T body. This is why nothing is locked to a physical dial in the X-H2, which pissed off a lot of people (like say with the AF mode) but made perfect sense from a usability perspective.

    I’ve got 3 X-T3s but they’ve been getting a little dodgy on me as of late. I think the internal batteries may be on their last leg so periodically my cameras will reset to factory settings which is annoying but not the end of the world. This issue has set me on a journey of contemplation as to whether or not I should purchase a new camera and which to choose from. I gave the 50R a test drive and loved the results if not the camera itself. I would LOVE to get into the GFX system but that comes with a whole new array of lenses and a hefty price tag for each on top of the $10,000 I’d need to get the GFX100 body I want. I guess if I sold ALL my XF gear that might put me in position to make that decision, but the X-H2 and X-T5 are very tempting for their cost effectiveness.
    Stills are my bread and butter and while I make movies on the side I have no real desire to shoot video with my personal camera. I’ve always appreciated and enjoyed the aesthetics of the X-T line but the top dials do not lend themselves to smooth operation in event settings.
    The X-H2’s dials and wheels are much more akin to the canon system I grew up on and make for a more seamless shooting experience. Also I’ve always liked the idea of stowing away my back screen and just using the viewfinder ever since the X-pro 3 came out but I simply cannot abide the rangefinder style.
    All this to say I’m no closer to making a decision than I was before I watched this video. But thanks Reggie for all you do!
