I know this stuff is simple, but when you're learning, being able to play a few simple riffs like this REALLY makes guitar fun. I needed this, thank you!
Good lesson with a combination of visual, theoretical, and demonstration. If you included examples for the other patterns, that would improve the lesson. For example, Green Day plays pattern five up on the neck in their song Holiday. Thanks for putting in the effort to make the video. Nice clean cut.
interesting sir. I see that you switch between your ring finger and pinky finger for the 5th interval in the power chord. it seems like this is a technique to make chord switches faster and soother. I'll rewatch the video and try to see how I can benefit from this technique. maybe you can make a video about this, otherwise I'll just teach myself. thanks for helping us fellow musicians create music.
I liked your video, but I think riff 2 and 5 are the same, just played in a different order. They both fall into the "T shape" you were talking about. Personally I call that the Blink 182 riff since they use it over and over again in so many of their songs, lol.

Realistically punk rock comes from inside you don't have to emulate popular playing styles like green day and blink 183 or whatever you just have to pick up a guitar and FUCKING HAVE AT IT it's not any specific strumming pattern like down up down up down or all down strokes do you really think Greg Ginn ,Johnny Ramone or Dr.know was thinking that shit when they wrote some of the most vicious guitar riffs ever hell no its it's about pouring all of your feelings out the ones you dont know what else to do with like pouring them into a bombshell and tapping it with a tiny hammer until it explodes just express yourself through your instrument and whatever comes out thats punk rock or whatever picture you choose to paint with it.
It's funny to hear the word "punk rock" and "interesting" in the same sentence. It goes to show how an outsider to the lifestyle can still appreciate an respect this musical genre on a technical level and give credit where its due...

Cool guitar, what is it?
How did you practice touching only the strings with the pick where you press with the finger?
I still hit other strings :/
Thx for help :)
A little late but play slower at first and you will know exactly how much force to exert eventually
Thanks 🙏
the fact that i made up that first progression with the same strumming on my own scares me
Thank you
