From a punk that played in former bands, I think what's lost in this is the vocal melodies that followed all of these progressions. It's not necessarily the music, it's the message. Whether it's political, heartbreak, or everyday life... that's what has always resonated within punk. It's why I fell in love with it. Same as 50s rock & roll. Keep the music simple but write and sing with purpose.
Just so you guys know, that walnut sg is a Epiphone. You dont need a Gibson to sound great. Tone is in the fingers! (Edit: i have nothing against epiphone, i have 2 of them and there great)
Absolutely true. I feel tone is 93% your hands and 7% gear. I've never had a Gibson because, well - they are too damn expensive. Since the 90's I've had squiers, knockoff budget guitars and then epiphones. Epiphones are great for the price and easy to mod if that's your thing (for me, yes). I can't say that I've ever had a bad one.
Not only an Epiphone, but a $150 bolt on. I have the same one, and while it doesn’t take on any of my Gibsons, the only thing I’d change about it are the tuners, if that says anything. (I’ve changed all of the electronics, but not out of necessity.)
