Thank you! This video was incredibly helpful. Today, I finished installing my MegaJimny Lightbar. I just need to upgrade the cabin switch and tidy up the cabling to complete the setup. Since the MegaJimny Lightbar doesn’t come with a piggyback adapter, I used the Stedi Piggyback for this task. Here are some pointers from my experience that may help others: 1) Test Before Full Installation - Before mounting everything, test the lightbar setup. Connect the harness to the battery, lightbar, and piggyback adapter to ensure it works. This can save time troubleshooting later. 2) The harness has a lot of extra cable. To keep the engine bay neat, I wired the harness from the relay to the lightbar first, reducing the cable length to exactly what was needed. Since the MegaJimny Lightbar didn’t have connectors, I cut the cable and manually connected the harness wires to the lightbar using heat-shrink tubing for a secure fit. 3) The chopstick tip from the video was a lifesaver! My harness already had a switch attached, so I removed it, taking a photo of the wiring setup for reference. When guiding wires through the cabin, avoid taping them at the very end of the chopstick. This allows you to use pliers to pull the chopstick through from the cabin side without risking damage to the wires or connectors. 4) Accessing the Cabin Panel - Remove the panel with the mirror controls for better access. The switch placeholder has clips at the top and bottom. Start by squeezing the bottom clip, pushing the placeholder from the back, and releasing it using a trim removal tool. The top clip should then come away easily. 5) Despite my switch photo, I initially re-wired it incorrectly, and the lightbar didn’t work. After fixing the wiring, the lightbar still didn’t function. To my frustration, I discovered that I’d blown the high-beam fuse, which also stopped the right-hand high beam from working. Once I replaced the fuse, everything worked perfectly! Double-check your wiring to avoid similar issues! Thanks again for the fantastic video-it was incredibly helpful!
I am really impressed with the way you have explained everything step by step and good on you for having a go, im also an electrician and i know for a fact the wiring you have used is absolutely fine, if you are going to add more accessories like a uhf or driving lights i recommend a fuse panel thats powered with positive and negative bus bars built in, helps keep the engine bay neat and tidy especially in a jimny 👌
I hope you do a short video displaying the light capability at night. N thanks for the installation guide, good to see it actually being done vs some promo that doesn't show that
I like the thought process behind your installation. I went a different route but accomplished a similar result. That said I might have had to do a different installation process as I have the H4 halogen wiring.
Nice installation. Everything well tucked away out of sight. Smart idea using the chopstick getting the cable through the firewall! Having that extra lightbar switch, high beam with or without the lightbar, is an excellent option when driving in fog/rain/snow when too much light is reflected back on the driver. From personal preference I cannot find good looking LED lights, they all are so darn ugly. Adding the lightbar under the roof rack is what I’d do too as it’s less a dominant position compared to other locations on the car. And the high position on the roof provides better reach/distance lit up in front of the car. As you’ve added several electrical connections to the positive/negative on the battery, they might be a problem in the future if the electrical surface area isn’t paid attention to. To avoid any future issues, to avoid power/current loss, I have learned that marine electrical wiring is preferable. Looking forward to your next videos. 🍻
Thanks so much for your comment! Yes, I found the light bar to look the best on this car. That's good to know about the marine electrical wiring, I'll definitely have a look into that!
Hi, great looking jimny you have! 👌 im Looking for leds for My jimny as well, and wonder if you still are using the st3k bar and. If you are happy with it? Looks nice and I can buy that from where I’m located as well , great video and explanation! Thanks!
Ah so you had to buy a piggyback adapter that fits the Jimny. I was going to get ARB to wire mine to my jb43 but they quoted me $900 so now I'm teaching myself. Does the piggyback go into the plug for the main bulb in the headlight?
Yes it does! You just take out the original plug and plug that into the piggyback, which then plugs into the headlight. The other cable is the one that plugs into the cable from the stedi lightbar 👌
Hey!, Im having trouble knowing what to connect and what not for the switch to light up only when the key is on. I already tested the lights with the battery and all but the light of the switch is constantly on and I dont want that. Do I need to connect just some of the cables to the light switch?, there are like 6 or so, its a big plug.
Hey mate! Yes you’d need to connect two cables if you want the switch to light up at night for example. I haven’t personally installed that as it only lights up once it’s switched on for my part, but I think there is an instruction manual for it in terms of what cable you’d need wired up. You’ll need to wire that cable to a fuse that aligns with your headlight switch (or anything else that lights up when turning the lights/night mode on). I was too lazy to do it but hope that makes sense 🤷🏽♀️
Hey mate! So the lightbar is wired to the high beams, but it doesn't come on every time you use the high-beam unless you push the button to activate it. Makes sense if you don't really need the light bar when using the high-beam. However if I drive at night on the beach, it's good to have that button to activate the light bar on high-beam.
Sorry, Needed Sea Sick pills. Some good explanations but the Camera was way to close and very difficult to get an overall view of the layout and connections.
Awesome video thanks. The black aluminium piece you used is called 'extrusion'. Another piece of pretty useless information for you to forget straight away.

Thanks so much! 🎉 That’s good to know and I’ll definitely look into that, as it will probably be quite crowded in such a small engine bay 😅👌🏽

Thank you! Yes I am planning on doing that 😄 I should get around to do it soon, haha. Cheers!
love your channel just subscribed keep it up! i got the ST4K from stedi and damn they are BRIGHTTTTTTT
Yeah they're awesome!! Thanks so much :)

Cheers! Yeah there are many ways to do it in terms of where you'd run the cables etc
loving all the videos, definitely wanting to get a jimny and might have to go for a test drive some time
Thank you! You should, it's an awesome little car :)
How did you secure the electric wire down the window frame?

Very Good Ma'am Like Already Subscribed
What about the night time driving to see how it performs?
It's soooooo bright it's actually ridiculous haha
Where did you get those mounts for the maxtrax to attach to the rack?
From OzJimny or Maxtrax themselves :D

@@ExploreJimny hey! Yes it works the fuse was called IGN something about ignition and only turns the light when the key is turn, so thanks!
How did you stop it from whistling?
I lowered the rack to maximum so that less air can travel through in between the rack and roof 😊
I am confused, does the lightbar goes on with a switch or if the high beam light of the car is put on ?

Haha it's not that bad once you get going!
Hmm.. Do i sense some viking genes in you? My viking compass says so.

better than paying arb $900 to do it
