- Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today. I’m so happy you are here with me today to see what I created.
Today’s piece is about exploring the composition and perspective of a piece. I used a cell activator in my white paint (two drops of silicon oil). When I look at it, I see a face/head - on a side profile with lots of emotions, feelings, energy all swirling around. My other half saw space and the wonderful cosmic energy. What do you see?
Technique used: open cup
What I learnt: sometimes having some negative space rather than stretching the design over the edges adds the movement and depth you need for a great overall feel and look.
Colour palette: red, orange, violet, silver, gold, white, black.
Time Stamps: If you want to go to a specific section of the video, here are the main segments:
Hair/Blow Dryer: I currently use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting unless I specify otherwise.

First i see a fiery planet or fire ball. But i do see a side profile of a head with the swirling emotions inside of it. Love the glow of the orange and red. Love this one!!😊

I too saw a head, but in the middle and it was looking at one point like a big lion mane surrounding the center but then it changed in my thoughts and I began seeing the massive amounts of energy that we as humans give off to the universe. I'm just waking up so that might not be coming across as I mean it too but I think you get the idea. I absolutely love the light violet in there holding its own and not mixing or turning muddy. In the end...I love this piece! Thx for sharing Mark.👍🤗💙

Hey Mark, i would scan the canvas in a flatbedscanner and sell my design to a big motorcycle companie. I can see this design on a gastank of a huge Harley Davidson or something! Very nice

Just seen this video Mark. I think it like looking into a volcano and seeing all the lava swirling and boiling. It’s fab! Could I just ask where do you get your squeeze bottles?
Thank you 😊 I don’t use them anymore as they are a nightmare to clean out to be honest. But you can find them in The Range, Amazon or in places like Tesco 👍🏻 (all UK based not sure where you are Jenny)

The blue is water and if not enough to take the firer out.

I have a question.... your paint "appears" thick. How do you get it to dry without cracks?
Thank you so much. Yes I’m this piece the paint was fairly thick. I always dry my pieces at room temperature and elevated so air can get to the top and underneath. I think the brand of paint also helps to avoid cracks when drying 👍🏻

Another beautiful piece of art Mark; when you first said ‘it looks like a head’ I thought, that isn’t nearly chaotic enough to represent my mind!! LOL But, at the end of the pour, it did look more like the constant battle that goes on in my head! I’m rarely a fan of red, but it works so well in this piece.

Thank you so much and thank you for your kind comments. I use a pouring medium that an artist in the UK produces (I don’t know it’s ingredients as the artist doesn’t share that).

For me, I felt it looked like a stomach; filled with fire and all those swirling, gut wrenching feelings. The nervousness, the anxiety, but also excitement and that butterfly feeling you get with love.

Beautiful creation, Mark. It looks like what I imagine a volcano would look like if you could peer down into it when it's erupting. I think the black background contributes to this imagery. Cool!

Gorgeous🥰, I would call it The Big Bang, the birth of the universe. Have you used a funnel before to do a similar technique?
I have done yes Lesley, but you know, I always forget about how brilliant the funnel can be in helping to control the release of the paint. I might need to do more 😊🙏
Love this piece. I have two interpretations. The first reminds me of a human heart with all it's vessels, etc. The second thing this reminds me of is Hades and what it would look like and everything that is going on there. The colors are so perfect for both.
