That's not true in terms of each splitting of your soul splitting your soul in half. Your soul is either always in an equal-sized number of pieces (I.E. a three-part soul means your soul is in equal thirds, but if you split it again each piece is an equal quarter of the whole), or a specific amount is split off each time, for example every time you split your soul it splits off an eighth of the original amount.

I always thought of it as that the horcruxes, as much as they do definitely imbue power, they also change the original purpose of of the object: a diary is for writing in confidentiality, but instead it is used for manipulation and also hidden away a ring is for wearing but once it became a horcrux the Gaunt ring cannot be worn without inflicting harm and is hidden away a locket is for keeping loved ones close to your heart, but instead it is used to manipulate people a cup is to be put on display for all to see as it shows pride in ones accomplishment, but once it is a horcrux, it is locked away in a vault and hidden a diadem is to be worn, it shows beauty and wealth and is there to be displayed on someone's head, but it is hidden (to be fair, it was hidden before it became a horcrux however this still doesn't contradict my original statement) snakes are meant to be wild and live of small mammals such as rats, but once a horcrux, Nagini begins to get more aggressive and gains an appetite for humans Harry was meant to live a full ordinary life (for a wizard), but the horcrux changed him, made him a parseltongue, made him different and changed his entire life. This change, would surely cause the sword of Gryffindor to reject the horcrux as its primary purpose is to become a more powerful sword, and becoming a horcrux would prevent it from being a sword even if it made it more powerful also, the vast majority of the power which a horcrux imbues is defensive and a sword is an offensive weapon, so whatever defensive measures the horcrux may imbue, it would not become a more powerful sword.
Something else that shows up when you need it most: The Room of Requirement, also known as The Come And Go Room. Not specific to Gryffindors, but ABLE TO CONTAIN FIENDFYRE! Is that a characteristic of the entirety of Hogwarts Castle, or was it just a necessity that the Room needed to fulfill? And yes, Diablo 2!!!
I have a head canon that trying to turn the sword into a Horcrux is what repelled the killing curse from Harry and reflected the piece of soul onto him instead. The protection from love was never powerful enough to block the curse, it just prevented Voldemort from touching Harry. Even in the graveyard, Voldemort just says "I could not touch the boy” when he is describing the magic of Lily's sacrifice. The head canon is even more elaborate but the rest of it is purely just my speculation on the details
Keep in mind it's arguably. Also, the only time they dueled, Albus was master of the Elder Wand. So it's actually possible Voldemort was the better wizard, Dumbledore was just getting a buff.
Probably not, as the as the Diadem of Ravenclaw was described as being a tarnished silver, so it's not made of goblin silver. Meaning it is not goblin silver like the Sword of Gryffindor. Goblin silver swords would probably reflect the horcrux spell.
Goblin silver repels mundane dirt. Perhaps it became tarnished in becoming a Horcrux, ie a magical dirtiness. In truth I don't actually think goblin silver can become a horcrux either, I am just postulating a possible way for it to be both tarnished and goblin wrought.
I don't think the sword chooses "worthy" or generically powerful things to absorb, I think the sword absorbs traits that would make it more powerful as a sword and repls the rest. A soul would not give any benefits to a sword, so I think it would repel a horcrux. But this makes me wonder: Why did the sword not keep the flame it was forged in? Do goblins not use fire to shape their metals?
Ever thought of using the Report-System of RUclips for Good? Like... being the opposite of Cancel-Culture? The literal opposite? Yeah, this comment is random, but...
I should think the fact that the sword can randomly teleport into the hands of people who are likely to want to destroy anything associated with Voldemort or the Dark Arts would make it the worst item Voldemort could possibly turn into a horcrux, so it's just as well that it never became one.
When they destroyed the locket there was some kind of illusion taunting Ron and trying to break his moral. So your idea seems plausible. It could become a Voldemort nightmare projector.
True. Only problem would maybe be if the sword was somehow immune to getting melted down because of some spell or other power that it had absorbed throughout its use in al the years Gryffindor had it, and after.
@@anacvetko5865 But the goblins have worked with this metal forever, they would still know how it works and if that's possible or how to get around it. They believe everything they make still belongs to them, the only reason they don't have the sword is because Griffindor was so stubborn. So I'm sure they've worked through all manner of situations, doesn't matter what the sword has absorbed, if the sword is a horcrux then the goblins are the best equiped to handle the situation or at the very least find a solution. There has to be a weakness to this metal and I bet it's something only they know and no one else would figure out.
Voldemort Damage X: enchanted item/creature fires X bolts of green light out after every attack damaging nearby structures and killing targets, but somehow only those that are within hitting distance.
I think that a generic goblin-made sword might have been able to be made into a horcrux; however, i doubt that the act of creating a horcrux would in any way be compatible with the ideals of courage, valour, and chivalry that gryffindor upholds.
Attempts to throw swordcrux into the veil. Swordcrux being sentient with the horcruxs inate ability to defend itself at all times uses the swords ability to teleport to preserve itself
WAIT HOLD ON If Voldemort succeeded in making the sword a horcrux, and Harry still killed the basilisk with the sword so it’s impregnated with basilisk venom, would it be still be able to kill another horcrux?
Hmmm... But the horcrux is only killed if the container is broken and if the sword is broken it wouldn't be able to allow itself to be imbibed with the venom. So that could only work if the timing is juuuust right.
Yup. Swordcrux would be stronger, sword would absorb venom as we saw and get abiliti to destroy horcruxes i dont think that they got enough will power to do sth about (there is no descritpion of them changing container only that they can repair it)
Asking if the basilisk venom would destroy the horcrux in the sword is pointless, because Harry would have to die for the sword to be a horcrux, so the events of chamber of secrets wouldn’t happen and it never would got the venom
Is there a hidden Mickey on your couch with the two Luxo balls and Cap’s shield? Or am I just seeing things? It’s highly possible I’m just seeing things lol
Fawks? No, no, the sword was used to stab the Room of Requirement, it was fully an accident, you see, a first year got spooked and thought he was going to die while getting sorted and popped a sword out of the sorting hat and then went flailing about the school until the room or requirement showed up.

But what about the cup, I bet it was goblin forged and it got destroyed by the basilisk venom. That being said the biggest problem is that the sword just disappears and McGonagall says that vanished objects go "into non-being, which is to say, everything" meaning that likely the sword just disappears and becomes part of everything so Harry would have to perform some sort of act to even summon it in the first place.
The sword having similar powers to Fawkes aligns nicely with the Albus is a descendent of Godric theory. And just doubles up on the “appears when a Gryffindor(Dumbledore) is in great need” lines we have got about the sword and phoenixes. Just treat ‘Gryffindor’ both as a family name, and then it works for both house and blood relatives.

My immediate thought was: Absorbing a piece of someone's soul wouldn't make it more powerful. Actually, it would make it more vulnerable because it would increase the risk of someone trying to destroy it.
About Avada Kedavra, I think it might work on the sword. The spell means something to the effect of “let the thing be destroyed” (in Latin I think), so it’s not exclusively a killing curse. We saw in Voldemort and Dumbledore’s duel at the Ministry that Avada Kedavra can destroy non living things. The golden centaur was shattered, and a desk got set on fire by the curse. And unlike basilisk venom and feindfyre, Avada Kedavra has no counter other than a sacrifice (Phoenix tears for basilisk venom, and feindfyre has a counter curse). Other than sacrificial love, no known magic can block, divert, or otherwise stop the killing curse. That includes being absorbed.
More so my own theory but theres not to my knowledge a magic creature in hp that can survive it but if there is it maybe possible to defend against the curse

@@Civilian08 i had that idea too, but wouldnt that heat make the sword stronger too, so the sword would stay at the bottom of the volcano (maybe sinking to the center of the earth), but then again, every worthy gryffondor would then be able to magically take it back (guess kill every gryffondor solves that)
@@jetkirby House elves are per book canon unable to destroy horcruxes. That was an order kreacher tried to complete given to him by Regulus, and he could not do it.
The paras plushie in the background is a great new addition xD Poor paras.
The room of requirement also shows up when you need it most! And that is presumably a Ravenclaw invention!
Presumably? Why is that? Never heard that before.
There are people who think that Gryffindor built the headmasters office, Slytherin built his Chamber Of Secrets, Hufflepuf built the Kitchens, and Ravenclaw built the Room of Requirements.
The room of requirement looks more like hufflepuff magic than ravenclaw. It appears to whoever need it, regardless of any notion of worthiness or blood. I kinda remember dobby being able to find it, but I'm not sure
@@nessimrichard9887, Dobby called it the "come and go" room. Dobby would take Winky there when she got plastered on butterbeer.
Dobby shows up when Harry needs him most, so it stands to reason that Godric Gryffindor killed a House Elf and absorbed its powers in his sword.

Idea's for destroying the sword
1. The veil
2. Dementor kiss
3. Goblin forge?
I always thought of it as that the horcruxes, as much as they do definitely imbue power, they also change the original purpose of of the object:
a diary is for writing in confidentiality, but instead it is used for manipulation and also hidden away
a ring is for wearing but once it became a horcrux the Gaunt ring cannot be worn without inflicting harm and is hidden away
a locket is for keeping loved ones close to your heart, but instead it is used to manipulate people
a cup is to be put on display for all to see as it shows pride in ones accomplishment, but once it is a horcrux, it is locked away in a vault and hidden
a diadem is to be worn, it shows beauty and wealth and is there to be displayed on someone's head, but it is hidden (to be fair, it was hidden before it became a horcrux however this still doesn't contradict my original statement)
snakes are meant to be wild and live of small mammals such as rats, but once a horcrux, Nagini begins to get more aggressive and gains an appetite for humans
Harry was meant to live a full ordinary life (for a wizard), but the horcrux changed him, made him a parseltongue, made him different and changed his entire life.
This change, would surely cause the sword of Gryffindor to reject the horcrux as its primary purpose is to become a more powerful sword, and becoming a horcrux would prevent it from being a sword even if it made it more powerful
also, the vast majority of the power which a horcrux imbues is defensive and a sword is an offensive weapon, so whatever defensive measures the horcrux may imbue, it would not become a more powerful sword.
I watch this channel pretty much exclusively for Harry Potter content. Your theories never disappoint!
Lol the knight bus shows up for wizards in need!
Tom Riddle/Voldemort is arguably the most powerful wizard of all time.
Albus Dumbledore: Am I a Joke To You?
Keep in mind it's arguably. Also, the only time they dueled, Albus was master of the Elder Wand. So it's actually possible Voldemort was the better wizard, Dumbledore was just getting a buff.
Awww the Paras plushie made it on set. Good for him.

9:18 you remember Quirle in book 1? That is valdimort damage
9:04 And then when Sozins comet arrives
I think that Voldemort damage would make the sword creepily hug you, cutting you in the process.
Goblins are stated to have their own magic that they don't teach wizards. It's entirely possible they don't.
Whether it could or not were lucky it didn’t become one because that sword is Badass!!!
Harry would have had a heck of a time getting rid of it!

Voldemort damage: you hear his laugh as he mocks you. it also triggers crucio for that duration.
When they destroyed the locket there was some kind of illusion taunting Ron and trying to break his moral. So your idea seems plausible.
It could become a Voldemort nightmare projector.
12:30 then would it absorb the power of death?
I'm sure the goblins would know how to melt down a weapon made of their metal.
True
What if it was as simple as smashing the sword into pieces with a goblin's bladesmithing hammer?
@@taylor_green_9 It probably is since that's non magical. It probably just absorbs magical abilities.
This is an important consideration as well
Attempts to throw swordcrux into the veil.
Swordcrux being sentient with the horcruxs inate ability to defend itself at all times uses the swords ability to teleport to preserve itself
that made me laugh
Does a return to sender, point first, lol.
WAIT HOLD ON
If Voldemort succeeded in making the sword a horcrux, and Harry still killed the basilisk with the sword so it’s impregnated with basilisk venom, would it be still be able to kill another horcrux?
Hmmm... But the horcrux is only killed if the container is broken and if the sword is broken it wouldn't be able to allow itself to be imbibed with the venom. So that could only work if the timing is juuuust right.
What is this "Harry still killed the basilisk" talk? Neville killed her and will always have killed her. Take nothing from Neville, ever.
@@her-myoh-nee1324 Basilisk not nagini
Yup. Swordcrux would be stronger, sword would absorb venom as we saw and get abiliti to destroy horcruxes i dont think that they got enough will power to do sth about (there is no descritpion of them changing container only that they can repair it)

A single cut from the sword makes you lose your phone
Love to see this since the old "missing horcrux" video is one of my favorites!
I imagined “Voldemort damage” basically just being necrotic damage (effectively meaning it damages you by magically draining your life force)
Speaking of Fawkes, could the Sword of Griffindor absorb his tears? I don’t know what it would do the sword but it sounds like a good idea
Sword of healing. Completely useless.
The ultimate torture implement. Heals you as it hurts you.
@@1Kapuchu100 I never thought where this comment would go. This is not what I expected 😂
It'd heal the wielder
Also, if Fawkes can't die wouldn't they make the best possible horcrux? Like, phoenixes would be over powered
I kinda see it
Sort of, there is maybe one out of a luxo ball and two mini luxo balls above the shield.
When you get stabbed with the sword you automatically loose your nose. Voldemort damage.
Fawks? No, no, the sword was used to stab the Room of Requirement, it was fully an accident, you see, a first year got spooked and thought he was going to die while getting sorted and popped a sword out of the sorting hat and then went flailing about the school until the room or requirement showed up.

this exact line is the reason ollivander creeped me out so much as a kid

Didn't the golden stuff reflect the curse while the stone stuff got destroyed.
