Hey guys Downhill skateboarding is a whole big world, racers compete down the biggest hills all over the world. ive been doing it for almost 8 years now and it still shakes me to the core!! Im happy to finally see a downhill episode on the Braille channel, way to go!!
Amazing content! Thank you for putting our sport out there for the world, been following your content for a long time and it’s an honour! Spud killed it as always 🔥
If you don’t mind, what one did you start first? I’ve never had the chance to really try longboards at all. Don’t even know how they feel on flat just cruising. I have been a street skateboarder for about 14 years now but bombing hills has always been possibly my favorite thing to do. The last two years I’ve been hitting the hills on a penny board! I don’t know what it is but it carves nice and kinda feels like your not even on anything because it’s so light. I love it but I feel like a longboard will feel extremely heavy and awkward to me. Oh, I also noticed that the penny is noticeably more stable than I recall my street decks ever being. I figured it would be worse than street setup. I got up to 30-35mph on the penny before wobbling and definitely don’t get near that on my normal setup. Do the softer wider wheels really give that much stability? I know longboard trucks are a bit different but I figured those tiny penny trucks would wobble more compare to my 8” street trucks.
@@fransk8187 I don’t know if I ever hit a hill I need those for. Not that I couldn’t have utilized them but that I didn’t need them to take a turn. I’m from a smaller farming location though. The land is pretty flat so there isn’t much for sharp turns out here. Amazing strait downhills for speed though.
@@SDsimplelife I only found it because I was riding to the store on my little sister penny one day(didn’t have a board at the time) and said f it lets hit this hill on the way home. Took it out to a bigger hill shortly after and fell In love.
As a downhill skater I love seeing the braille guys out in the hill. Lots of us just kick it on a neighborhood hill for years before we ever do a mountain road.
This is awesome! This is great exposure for a niche form of skateboarding that often doesn't get the love that street skating does. I've been skating downhill for 10 years now and it's an amazing sport with a fantastic community of people. Spud is definitely in the upper percentile of skill which makes it seem like a very unattainable sport. I'd love to see another video like this that focuses on entry level downhill.

Noiiice! Perfect timing on the vid. I'm from the SF Bay Area but currently up in the PNW. I'm a bit older now and getting back into trying to go faster down the hills on longboards(and film it with the GoPro) I used to live at the bottom of the "9th Avenue run" in SF so I did have pretty decent stand up slides. I do kind of need to re-learn stand up and glove down laid out slides on longboards though. Anyway, rolling down the hills or carving & grinding through the Sk8parks is pretty fun, especially since the weather has finally turned nice and sunny.

It’s interesting to see a downhill video made for non-downhill skaters. At first I was confused by the dark eerie music during the montage at 9:00 . The music choice thematically did not hit the feeling I’d normally get from that kind of video. Then the realization came: the music choice actually fits perfectly. This is how a properly sane person feels watching a downhill skater.
"Why would anyone do this?" Give it a go. Get in touch with your local longboard crew, find a street not too crowded and learn to slide... And before you know it you'll be hooked.
