I hope they clean up the code soon, as I'm tired of bugs that are years old still being a problem or reemerging after several patches. Stuttering and matchmaking problems being examples of the latter. Dsync and weapons reloading changing the magazine (if one is available) when you assemble a weapon after building it in the "edit preset" feature are examples of the former. I've been an actual game tester (EA, Sony, Bandai Namco) and did both alpha and beta testing on PCs and consoles and Tarkov..........is NOT in beta. It's mid to late-range alpha. At best. Especially after Nikita saying it's approximately 65% done. That's an alpha number. Not a beta. Beta is when the devs think it's done and they want QA to test it to see if they missed something or to try to break it and see if it needs to go back or a day-1 patch is sufficient. You don't have screwed up tasks or have half the game's maps missing in beta. I may not know coding itself, but I did see/experience the difference between alpha and beta games and many actions by devs when either they're over worked or don't actually know what they're doing and BSG is showing signs of both. I could be TOTALLY missing something obvious and be talking out my ass, but that's how I see Tarkov at the moment and it's not looking good. 12.8 did bring a TON of much needed quality of life improvements and some of them did make it easier for new(er) players, but it also undid a bunch of work in patches and sometimes I feel like I'm back in 12.5 or whatever when in-raid stutters were still a big problem. Hopefully, some of my concerns will be proven unfounded in the video when I watch it. I love Tarkov, as it feeds a ton of my mil-sim needs, but it sometimes feels like BSG is polishing a new paintjob on a 1987 Honda Civic with an engine that misfires in 2 cylinders and has a 4 speed automatic transmission that skips 3rd when driving over 3000 RPM. EDIT : I've now seen the video and it's AMAZING!!!! Excellent work, dude!!! The scientific method is a powerful tool and you learned a lot about Tarkov as a result. My original comment pretty much stands, just not as "frustrated" or upset emotionally speaking. So anyone reading this comment a second time, thus seeing this update, please reread the original and adjust accordingly. Now having a pretty good idea of what's going on, client-based control, there are new questions. Where does BSG and the community go from here? Is there something that can be done? Is it permanent? Will a fix be so massive that they would essentially be rebuilding Tarkov from scratch? For context for those who don't know how game development works. Sometimes a bug won't appear until a certain component of the game is added. Meaning A+B+C=Failure. Point A could be a "flaw" (unknown at the time, or totally normal but incompatible with flaws B or C and the incompatibility is unknown) in the ambient lighting design. Point B could be the type of rendering used with the flashes of a gun that were sourced from actual gun fire. Point C could be the engine it all gets processed in. The "bug" or visual problem that occurs? The sky is rendered improperly and the ambient light on surfaces, say blue from a mid day sun, flashes pink whenever a gun is fired because the engine (for some reason) can't render both separately so the colors get mixed. The problem? The engine used to render graphics has been in use the entire time and the code used to render the sky also renders the collision and if the collision code is changed in any way, the game crashes 100% of the time when a gun is fired. This example is completely out of left field and most very likely totally wrong is how coding actually works, but it's to get people thinking about coding and how a patch isn't as simple as it seems. Changing code is delicate work. Think of it like Jenga. Each "block" represents a line of code and every time you try to change the code so you can get the stack taller, thus "building" more of the game, you create potential flaws and weak points. You may make a cool part of the stack look like a natural pattern, but you created a weak point in the process. And some times, a string of code is the only block holding the entire thing together and if you try to move that block, the entire thing comes crashing down. So with all of the new information in this comment in mind, I hope people now understand what Vertias is trying to do here. Educate the community on the problems of Tarkov and what may be causing them.
Just a tad preachy and grandiose for a video game video don't you think? Not bad or unprofessional just like. Can you just say what's wrong with the net code?
It must be a pretty rare thing to have a member of the game's community this dedicated. The amount of effort put into this series is wild. Quality content.
@@mattdab0ss30 Yeah and they are struggling with the networking. Hopefully they will get things back to working order eventually. These serious desync issues are a new thing.
I think I understood more about lags, shutter and why this events happen in ~42 mins than in hours of normal courses from any teacher/college/school whatever... Good job man! You are not just a regular streamer who just plays for fun and earns an extra buck from RUclips, you acually do quality research and can give a very detailed report to the devs wich they should really take into consideration.
What an incredible breakdown on how game loops work, as a dev, I'm impressed how well you explained it, loving this series so much! Also, we are twins: musician programmers, there are dozens of us!
This probably contributes to no audio moments as shifty movement produces less sound because the server is registering less actual movement and just teleporting the player.
As someone who wanted to like you but didn't at first - thank you. I can only imagine how hard it must be to be constantly in the eye of a community as passionate as EFTs. I didn't want to judge because only you know what's going on in your life but I didn't enjoy being in your stream and chose to just enjoy your YT content. Regardless of that, you've always put out stellar content. But hearing what you've been saying, advocating for and now your sharing how you've received all this really is inspiring. Thanks for all you've done in the past, and thanks for the message you're working so hard on with the community and the work for yourself. We're with you and I'm excited to enjoy all aspects of what you put out there.
I totally agree. A "How to make the ultimate game series" would be awesome. A guide to what gamers hate the most and the solutions or lack of in the industry!!
The balance between appreciation and getting a big head can be hard, but the fact that you are aware of that means you have good intentions. Also I think everyone would be better off by being more skeptical. The amazing Randi would be proud
It's always a breath of fresh air to see something be tested, analyzed, and observed to determine a point. Great video, and I highly enjoy your willingness to delve into finding an objective result, while still relaying the fact you're a human being, and therefore intrinsically flawed.
Hey Veritas. I'm disabled now due to a chronic illness that hit me around 2 and a half years ago. I dropped out of CS/Software Engineering at LSU around that time. I haven't been able to work and I am lucky to have a family that loves me the way they do. Because of their dedication I'm finally feeling like I'm turning the tide, although it remains to be seen if I'll ever be the person I was. The point of telling you this is, Tarkov helped keep my worries, stresses, depression, failures, etc at bay. You were one of the reasons that Tarkov helped do that for me. I haven't been following as closely as I used to only because I was taking a break and skipped last patch. I'm hoping to jump in again soon. Anyway, I feel like I've definitely had a huge unlucky streak early in my life. But you inspired me to get better at Tarkov, to try and stream when I can eventually afford a setup, and to invest much more time outside of college into learning to code. You have your flaws, like everyone, but I look past the things I don't like because it doesn't change the big picture. Self improvement is great when you do it for your well being and not for the view of others. Be as happy as you can and enjoy life. Spend time with those who mean the most to you. Im sure you know this, but I only learned it after my downfall. Family, friends, and love in general are the most important things in life. They are the key to true happiness. Viewers will always find a reason to be unhappy just like I have before. However, knowing you have people who would do anything for you, helps put your inner doubts at bay. Though you make great content that is well thought out for the benefit of not only yourself, but your viewers, and the devs. Which is absolutely great. I know eventually it must be a drain for you, when viewers harshly nitpick every little thing when you thought it was fine. Just want to say don't let those shitty people get to you. Read the constructive comments and the compliments. Let those who truly love and care about you be the ones to shape you, because they truly know you and will be there for you when you need it most. Keep doing great things and I wish you the best success, you are somewhat of a role model for me. At least in the sense that what you do is a big dream of mine. It also happens to be one of the few things I could still do from home if I never recover. Obviously that depends if i'll be as successful as you are. Good luck and great videos.
Another fantastic video, I'm glad we have people like yourself in this community who shine light on player experiences that sometimes developers just don't see or understand the issue enough to be able to take action, I hope these videos help make Tarkov the best it can be.
This video series should be a mantidory watch when you download the tarkov launcher. The information is simplified to make sense yet not dumbed down I've learnt a ton and can't wait for the next one.
This has changed how I play the game. I had been playing the game like R6 Siege by holding angles and strategic positions. But this explains why I am constantly losing to people quick peeking me. Thanks bro.
I have watched you in depth videos, you break downs and testings for some time now. Your attention to detail and drive to get all of the info is amazing. Keep up what you are doing and don't forget the phrase, Illegitimi non carborundum.
@Veritas glad you finally examined the variations in network connectivity with regard to the discussion. One major factor that you have left out (long time IT and InfoSec professional) is the implementation of encryption. Players wanted packets encrypted and BSG complied. That results in a need for packets to be encrypted and decrypted on both ends. No problem if everyone has super fast hardware, but as you alluded to various connection properties (ISP, routing over the net, ping spikes etc) the same issue but greater is less efficient hardware just flat out not performing that encryption/decryption process as effectively. So those packets with positional updates etc are not always consistently responded to by clients. Does the player with a potato affect everyone else on the server, YES. But the only way to control that would be to have everyone on the exact same hardware (e.g. like console games do). BSG tries, and I think does reasonably well, all things considered, in trying to manage various ping and latency states, instances of said potatoes, AND the hacker issue. Perfection, no. But as you pointed out, every multiplayer game faces these same challenges. I have faith that BSG will continue to improve the state of things. But as you pointed out also, until quantum computers become a thing, and data transfer becomes instantaneous, we are all bound by the laws of physics (yep, not just Physix, haha) but the speed of light and electricity, by the processing power of the hardware on each and all ends, after all, it is not just your client and the server, but your client, the server, and ALL the other clients. This is NOT an issue just affecting multiplayer games, it affects stock market trading, communications from ground stations to satellites and aircraft, the list goes on and on. The world does not revolve around us, our perspective does. Thanks for the video.
Agreed - I actually had an entire section about how in the middle of June, during the height of quarantine, on the back of one of the biggest twitch drrops marketing campaigns in history, and packet encryption being added, is when much of this stuff started. I had to cut so much I didn't want to and that ended up getting dropped because of how deep I wanted to go there... The only surviving part is I made sure to reference decryption in the whole "all that data being dumped on the client, needing to be decrypted, deserialized, etc etc". Thanks for the info, I'd love to hear more if you have more info on anything!
@@VeritasGames Indeed. I mention this every now and then on my stream. That there is so much about the network and packet encryption process that is affecting this more than any other factor.
Another epic one, addressing I think one of the if not THE MOST important issue of the game. Netcode. Damn, I learned a lot of stuff from this video once again. I hope with this analysis of yours BSG and Nikita have some food for thought, and who knows what 2021 will bring to us. Maybe these all long awaited fair fights :D And nah mate, thank you for taking time to test!
So many of our problems are likely a mix of client side authoritative movement, server threads getting locked, and inconsistent communication with the clients? Dang, that would explain so much... I really hope BSG starts to work on those ends. Ive seen them recently collect a lot of data and ask for reports and information, I think they definitely take this stuff seriously.
This is a great analysis and I don’t know anything about coding programming or such but I still understood the main issue the way you explained. The fact that BSG agrees with your videos is awesome too for the future! Keep up the awesome work man !!
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to test these things. I've quit the game several times because I wind up demoralized by losses that feel out of my hands; the types of scenarios that you showcased in the video. I'm itching to go back, to start playing the game again. .. But each time I quit, I tell myself that I won't, not until they make another pass over "the netcode"; until the major server issues are fixed... Then a large update drops and boom, I'm back in the saddle, getting headshot by people who haven't rounded the corner yet - round and round it goes...
Kudos brother. Trusting your intuition that's in sync with your knowledge and experience, while stripped of an ego, is an amazing achievement by itself. Your visual dissection of the game mechanics is very important as it gives an insight to the "younger" population (whether by age or by experience) and makes them instantly "game empathetic". THANK YOU for doing this and I"ll keep on watching and lurking in your Twitch channel while equally enjoying your moments of sincere joy and (baby)rage, just as much as your brilliant interludes of guitar and keyboard. P.S. sorry for "Ze English" - it's not my first language 🙃
Just want to say thank you Veritas for the work you've put in on this series and especially this one. The information you have gathered for battlestate will hopefully push this game further with better experiences for all in the future. Your deep diving is appreciated!
Sometimes I see your videos go live and I think, 42 min... Veritas, I ain't got time for that. Then I make time, and fully appreciate your commitment and hard work to bring such interesting and pertinent data, observations and well thought out conclusions. Thanks for all the hard work that went into this video/series. It's stuff like this that makes Tarkov, it's devs and their relationship with their community so awesome. Well done!
I was deep into the analysis and then realized I faded into the piano cover at 10:27. I did rewind back to listen the genius analysis and perfectly planned production. This vid will be referenced for a long time I predict. Well done.
With how relatively small BSG is as a studio and this being their first game I'm sure videos like this honestly have to help them shit loads. This coupled with what they know and cant tell us hopefully we can get these kinds of things ironed out before full launch if it ever comes to that lol the entire "Takeaways" section couldn't have been more spot on.
Thank you for this new series and everything you do for the community and for shedding light on a common problem the community is experiencing didn’t know how to explain it.
Veritas Your work never ceases to impress me. This series of videos of Tarkov has shed light on the unknown issues we never thought of. Your Explanation of the Universe and the fact of "You are not Important" fits really well at the start, I find this whole game right now to be like a rough draft of a story each player is the writer of their own character where they go and how they act, yet I see the Stutters and lag as if those are writers block or something close to that. Everyone in the Tarkov Community has had alot of issues with this and now we have the knowledge from you to figure out what is going in this fight and what the f**k is that boi doing in place like that? I learn many things from you when you make videos like this. It is wonderful that you still make content like this, I would love to see how this story ends whether it has a good ending or a dark ending, we will still enjoy you and your work as a music creator and a engineer that created a wonderful app for the game. Keep working hard, Don't push your self to much but most importantly stay safe.
Thanks Veritas, I appreciate all of your hard work and energy you put into this game. You have confirmed lots of my suspicions in this video and it feels good to know I am not crazy, hopefully your work will pay off in the end and tarkov will continue to improve. It was nice to get an insight on your thoughts, your are a very logical person and I appreciate that a lot. Remember to be kind to yourself you deserve it.
Honestly the only series I look forward to on youtube right now. So much back end reasoning, differing perspectives, and just general information dumps. Hopefully it helps bring in more experienced hands to try and reach that end goal of the ultimate tarkov experience
Your videos are some of the most quality ones around, thank you for your always incredible analysis in not just this video but all of them, they are by far some of the best I've seen be it tarkov or not 👌
All I can say about these three videos is WOW! You hit the nail on the head for all the issues that I've been having this wipe! I've been playing this game every single wipe for three years now and this wipe has definitely been the most frustrating. Thank you Veritas for your deep dive into this and I hope that BSG seriously looks at all these videos and fixes these issues accordingly. Keep it up Veritas, you are not the only one experiencing these same issues!
As someone with over 25 years experience working on some of the largest platforms on the planet, watching the depth at which you took the analysis in this video demonstrates you have the potential to be one of the best systems architects in the business. Extremely well done from understanding the problem, building good test scenarios, analyzing the results, being skeptical of your results and seeking additional understanding and finally achieving reproducible results was amazing to watch. If you're ever interested in a job or a reference, hit me up. Feel free to look me up on LinkedIn and send me a message, I'm in the SF Bay Area.
One of the few videos that left me speechless. The effort put into this is astronomical. This video cements my decision to go into Software Dev/Game Dev. Whatever you do, do it well and do it with humility. That’s what I’ve always been told. You are the living example of this. Thank you for what you do. You are a great role model. Thank you.
It is incredible to see and hear you finally say that your voice is being not only heard but understood by the community. Thank you for all the amazing work you do and the number of hours you dedicate to researching all of these topics. The only thing left to say is bravo and keep at it!
You've really won me over recently. Not only in terms of the issues around Tarkov's net code, but also the value of having a content creator who takes the game seriously enough to produce videos with such depth of thought and analysis.
I look forward to these every time you announce a new one. You are so analytical, and to the point. You clearly have done your research. Good stuff man
Thanks for the video. I have of course like you and many been experiencing similar problems with the stuttering. It is a great support knowing these issues are being brought to light in this considered and informed way. Also as a youtube and twitch viewer/audience it is also good to have 1) the direct contact with yourself and 2) the knowledge that your ideas are not falling on deaf ears...as in you having a direct contact with Nikita. Well done for perservering especially with overcoming the negativity and for looking passed the trolls and toxicity. I watch the pogcasts you do with Jesse and enjoy different perspectives. As for your gaming well keep going and maybe one day I can try and shoot you if you ever venture into european servers.
Props on the test design to replicate stutter movements, I think a lot of people have similar sort of ideas but actually utilising your resources in the community to develop and test with a full server is the important bit, well done for organising it. From a purely non technical, abstract perspective, I wonder if some level of smoothing, a blending of the server authority state and the client authority state that respected hard geometry boundaries, would be a better approach for player models and hitboxes; some way to compromise between the two to minimize experienced rubber banding while decreasing people stutter stepping like the nurses from silent hill. On a similar note, another video that talked about inertia, or the apparent lack of, within Tarkov might also hold a key component to solving the problem. The more predictable a player's movements are, the easier time the server has keeping up with them. With more severe player movement inertia effects coming into play on accelerations, quick dance-y strafes won't be possible any more, which will reduce the potential for bursts of movement that can turn into stutters after hitting the server.
I tried putting this into words better and I just can't capture it the way I feel it, but I just want to say I love these videos and how you handle similar topics. Thank you for the immense effort that must go into them.
Im glad I was able to be a part of the vid and also with my bad/spotty internet that I was able to help you. Thank You for having me be apart of a better understanding.
This series continues to be brilliant! Thanks Veritas for such a well thought out, informative and entertaining video. It's great to see Nikita himself agree with your assumptions and theories too! Keep it up dude.
I usually dont comment on videos but I have to say that one of the main reason I keep watching this series and wait for the next episode is because the script is very well written (or at least for me) and the delivery of it is on point. The content is super interesting and digs deep enough that the majority of people watching can understand the concepts talked about. Great series! I want more :)
I must admit, and sorry for my French... I fucking love your videos Veritas, and I love how engaged and dedicated you are to the projects that you set yourself. You have my utmost respect! This video can and should be used not just for tarkov, but for every single multiplayer shooter where people gets frustrated about the game and starts blaming the devs, game etc.. I have nothing else to say than, you really hit the top of the nail with your in-depth videos!
Just stopping by to say that I watch a lot of your videos and enjoy them alot. I also enjoy your music and listen to it almost daily. Keep up the good work and I cannot wait to listen to more of your music. Peace ❤️
I really appreciate people like you. Your not getting paid to do all this work and it truly shows you care. I personally want to thank you and I know the community thanks you for the time and effort that goes into these videos. This is hard work and it really shows. Great job man.
This is amazing! What a fantastic breakdown and holy crap you put a ton of work into this. This explains a lot of what i have experienced, and it makes me feel good to know that someone has figured out, at least to some extent, what is going on and proposing an idea, rather than pointing blame. I am def guilty of getting mad, maybe even unreasonable about the gameplay experience, and if this does end up fixed in the future, I am hopeful EFT will become an amazing experience. Again, thanks for all the hard work you put in, it means a lot.
Videos on point, discussions on point, your music in the background is on point, your Spotify is on point. Bro sometimes it’s easy to get down on yourself just cause you’re really good at what you do and people still misunderstand you. It’s a sign of brilliance. And while it’s not fun, it’s who you are. If you stumble upon my comment, I graduated from Villanova University. They uphold three values visible on their crest, one of which is Veritas. I came upon the thought that if a person could know every truth, they would lose any purpose to live. Because to me, the truth in this world motivates me. I like to figure it all out too. But it will make you jaded and come off the wrong way. While it is important (the truth) its only some people that feel the way we feel. And that’s why it’s not the only purpose to life. Either way man, I hope you recognize that your ahead of the curve and that if you appreciate and understand your own self, that is huge
Just want to say thank you. You have explained everything I have felt in this game better than I ever could. Thanks for putting in the time to put some in depth analysis on these issues. This is what makes the game better
This video is actually amazing, i am really inspired by this, being a new game developer i am really looking forward to bring this kind of issues to the table. the part where you said short comings and misunderstood really hit me hard. Thanks for this and keep up my man, going through something similar. Keep making great content.
Man, what a well put together video. I've dabbled in game dev and love how indepth you went while keeping it simple. Your dedication to this community is unreal and motivating! Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see the content you create next!
I'm really glad the EFT community has someone like you to do this kind of deep dive on these issues while making it educational and entertaining. There are a lot of misunderstandings, not only in Tarkov but with networking,client/server communication in general, especially if you're just an average human with a life outside of gaming with no interest in understanding what makes a game tick. I really feel this video will help the community and the game in the long run. So I'll say it in advance, thanks for helping make Escape From Tarkov 1.0 a badass experience.
These videos are amazing, I never comment on youtube videos, but not only is this video informative, it's extremely enjoyable to watch as well. Great job!
Great video Veritas! Excellent series, I am genuinely amazed at your ability to do these deep dives and break apart the game into bit size pieces. I have no idea how you have the time to put these videos together, but I am thankful that you do. Thanks man.
Fabulous analysis, Veritas. tbh I unsubscribed a while ago because I wasn't vibing with your content, but this video changed my perspective and brought me back on board... for what it's worth, I see that you've responded to feedback and changed your approach. I hear you wrt to mental health. I appreciate the balance you've found and think you're doing great.
Honestly, man you're a pretty cool guy, to think about life and things so deeply is really something, and I hope that you find peace in multiple ways, as a deep understanding and knowledge of everything can also be tough. Love yourself, brother. Take care, keep kicking ass, and making great videos!
Thank you for putting this out there. My brother and I weren't exactly close for a long time - not that we didn't get along or have opposing ideas about things, but simply the age gap between us is somewhat large and our interests really never quite lined up. I've always loved him, but we just really weren't close. He was deployed for about 9 or 10 months in the shit with myself and my parents constantly worrying about him. When he got home it was a massive relief to us all and I flew home (I live almost 2000 miles from them now) for about a week and a half when he returned so I could spend time with him, my niece, and my parents. I've always been a PC gamer (over 20 years now) and over the past 5 - 10 years he's been exclusively console, so we never got to play together. He asked me if I'd heard of Tarkov and because of the only twitch streamer I currently follow (FreeMasonLive), I had. I said it didn't really look like my thing as I'd fallen out of multiplayer games a while ago given lack of time, general toxicity of the community, etc but I'd check it out more. He was adamant about the game being great, and seeing as it was my birthday in less than a month he bought it for me. I was in the middle of a kitchen remodel at the time and didn't get around to playing it until probably a month in a half later (early October). When my mom had talked with my brother's wife the day he was going to show me the ropes in the game, his wife told my mom how excited he was to play a game with me - it was really heartwarming. I was hooked almost instantly - even with the constant dying and losing of gear. I still suck compared to most other players but I still enjoy the hell out of the game - even with the sweaty hands and heart racing for fear of getting shot out of nowhere and frustration losing everything I'm carrying. I've never experienced this amount of intensity with any other game. That said - the issues you're experiencing reflect what I've seen for the past 2 weeks or so. When we play together I constantly see my brother's PMC or scav move erratically, I've unloaded into the heads of players that don't seem to register hits, and I've seen other players seemingly teleport while shooting me. I've got a gigabit connection and a well-specced computer. Seeing these kinds of issues makes me just not want to play until they're resolved as my lack of skill alone puts me at a fairly good disadvantage, nevermind having to deal with lag issues - and that really stinks because right now this is the thing my brother and I bond over the most.
Glad to see you're getting into a better headspace Veritas. I can't imagine the pressures or self doubt that occurs when dealing with so many people, that either hype you or hate you for sometimes equally bizarre reasons :) Stay healthy!
You're an absolute legend. You're essentially debugging the netcode and I'm personally thankful on behalf of the tarkov experience that this game has sparked such a focused investigation from you. Also, your long form videos make me want to hear you on a podcast.
I was thinking about this video more. I guess my take from an emotional, coping situation, is that I take these micro stutters as a form of Fog of War. The chaos of not exactly being sure if your bullets are going to hit true. That is how i deal with it. How I live with being "Tarkoved". How I try not to be salty. I've a good guess that the opponent is over there and I try to click on head. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have a crappy internet, I live in a rural area. But I love the game. If I'm eroding other's enjoyment due to my slow connection, I'm sorry. I play very ratty, picking my battles very specifically. My survival rate, which I know is meaningless, but for the sake of showing my cowardness is sitting at 71% at the moment. I run away. A lot. Running a night helps a LOT, avoiding PMCs like the plague. But I enjoy this play style too. It is not just necessity. Veritas, this series has been enlightening. I've really enjoyed learning more and I hope the game evolves with some of the things you have brought up, in mind.
Something to understand and add to RTT RTT: being as you said the time it takes for a packet to get to the recipient and back to the host, a fast connection being better of course. Hop count: The amount of devices the packet passes through to reach the destination, your RTT can be fairly low, but there's a good chance you could have a high hop count, more hops means more possibilities of losing a packet, or otherwise "dropping" packets. In some places especially in rural area's the hop count can be quite high. IP Fragmentation: A packet is basically broken down down in small pieces, or fragments, in order to pass through smaller MTU(maximum transmission unit[basically 10kb packet is fragmented into 4 2.5kb packets then reassembled either at the recipient or somewhere in between]). This would be more prominent in a TCP application as UDP connection would be more beneficial to have it off, but there could be instances where the packet goes through such routers during the hop count, data can and will sometimes drop or become corrupted forcing the server to drop the packet anyways. Lastly especially for those who live in bigger cities, apartment complexes and small neighborhoods, throughput can limit your connection quality as most places you share a line with everyone else connected to it, and a lot of times even fiberoptic connections are lazily connected to the main line, getting proper DSL is pretty much impossible since a lot of these lines are shared with others who pay for the same service if it's even available.
All three of these videos were awesome dude. I have shared them with a bunch of mates, and even link it in Twitter when people are just being whinners about the game not being perfect. Thank you for these.
The hole series and this video especially expresses was I personally feelt in the last half year of playing EFT. No matter how much I love the game, at the moment it is not enjoyable and I have to play something else. I hope your analysis will help the developer's to improve EFT to its full potential... A big thanks!
Me and my buddy play this game a lot, way more than any other game because of how you feel rewarded just for surviving a raid in general. We've been playing hunt showdown for the past week or two, but the reward to loss ratio isn't quite there, and I am finding myself more easily bored by hunt because the problems are more prominent and the rewards for surviving are quite meaningless.
Thanks to Nikita and everyone in the community for the support and feedback. You are legends!!!
Thank you for addig videos about netcode in the description will check them out after the premier. I am really excited ^o^
Just a tad preachy and grandiose for a video game video don't you think? Not bad or unprofessional just like. Can you just say what's wrong with the net code?

It must be a pretty rare thing to have a member of the game's community this dedicated. The amount of effort put into this series is wild. Quality content.
Tarkov has a few, we're lucky that way :)
"So, why does tarkov Stutter all the time?"

Good job man! You are not just a regular streamer who just plays for fun and earns an extra buck from RUclips, you acually do quality research and can give a very detailed report to the devs wich they should really take into consideration.

This is incredible on another level. being the state of Tarkov currently with desync this has been so helpful and educational. Thank you
Please contact game devs from other fps games and interview them. Would love to see a video showcasing their expertise and hear their input on tarkov.
Yep this would be great!
I totally agree. A "How to make the ultimate game series" would be awesome. A guide to what gamers hate the most and the solutions or lack of in the industry!!
Yes because professionals are going to offer FREE advice to their competitors on how to fix THEIR game lolmao
This must have been the most over-engineered, hilarious and derailed introduction to a technical gaming subject ever. Kudos! :)
Excellent video Veritas was in your stream last night you took time out to watch my clip and explain things thanks for that.
Remains a very good in-depth and balanced video and all what you mentioned at the end of it! Also, a bump for the YTA 😉
The balance between appreciation and getting a big head can be hard, but the fact that you are aware of that means you have good intentions. Also I think everyone would be better off by being more skeptical. The amazing Randi would be proud
One of my heroes!
Excellent work, I'm really enjoying this series of 'documentaries' on Tarkov. I really think analytical stuff like this is where you shine, my man.
Thank you man
Great comment bro keep ur head up high and your goals in sight.
@@Shaders- Appreciate it, thanks.
HAH I had to google that one! nice 😎
Maybe these all long awaited fair fights :D
And nah mate, thank you for taking time to test!
Just watched this thing from start to finish... my fav analysis of yours so far. This is great work. I have experienced so much of this.
This is a great analysis and I don’t know anything about coding programming or such but I still understood the main issue the way you explained.
The fact that BSG agrees with your videos is awesome too for the future!
Keep up the awesome work man !!
Damnit, I knew dark energy was the cause of something nefarious... Just didn't think it'd be my tarkov lag
Longest and most detailed video ever describing a time honored component of online shooters..."Peakers Advantage".
Your new series of videos are in another whole new level. I am enjoying them so much. Good job!
wow, incredible video series, very well done Veritas. keep it up buddy stay strong
Ridiculously high quality, entertaining, and informative content. Just wow lol you killed it
Thank you for this new series and everything you do for the community and for shedding light on a common problem the community is experiencing didn’t know how to explain it.
Absolutely love these videos man! Thanks so much for your hard work and time put into this community. Much love from New England!
The amount of time you put into the research, scripting, editing etc, on these videos gives me more anxiety than playing solo on Labs. Amazing work.
This is REALLY incredible work veritas! The ammount of work done here to give layman explanations to people who doesnt work in this field is nice!
Server processing delays is really the best conclusion we could have hoped for. It means that many potential culprits are within BSG's control.

I look forward to these every time you announce a new one. You are so analytical, and to the point. You clearly have done your research. Good stuff man
awesome video, keep doing the deep dives behind the scenes stuff. it helps to further our knowledge of what is really going on
Thanks for the video.
With more severe player movement inertia effects coming into play on accelerations, quick dance-y strafes won't be possible any more, which will reduce the potential for bursts of movement that can turn into stutters after hitting the server.
ok I lol'd at the nurses from silent hill comment 😂
I tried putting this into words better and I just can't capture it the way I feel it, but I just want to say I love these videos and how you handle similar topics. Thank you for the immense effort that must go into them.
Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into making this and bringing this major problem to light.

Great job!
This new video series(?) is fantastic. It's really you in your element. You might not see this but you've always been a real one. Great work.
Love the video, deep analysis and hard work like this is always appreciated. Thanks for helping to make the community better.
Once again Bril, Bloke!! Very well thought out, rigourously researched and excellently presented.
I can't imagine the pressures or self doubt that occurs when dealing with so many people, that either hype you or hate you for sometimes equally bizarre reasons :)
Stay healthy!
Brilliant work, a big thank you for the substantial effort and focus needed to create this video.
You're an absolute legend. You're essentially debugging the netcode and I'm personally thankful on behalf of the tarkov experience that this game has sparked such a focused investigation from you. Also, your long form videos make me want to hear you on a podcast.
Check out my podcast then :) The Pogcast
@@VeritasGames awesome. Done.
I have enjoyed the hell out of this series. I think you are measured, careful and chock full of information. Kudos. Humility is so important.
I've really enjoyed learning more and I hope the game evolves with some of the things you have brought up, in mind.
wow massive respect to you for figuring this all out and being to explain it in as simple terms as possible, very clear and concise, nicely done!
Great video, I never comment on videos but this must have taken a lot work and I want to thank you for it! I learned a lot!
Something to understand and add to RTT
RTT: being as you said the time it takes for a packet to get to the recipient and back to the host, a fast connection being better of course.
Another well-thought-out and a well-executed video explaining Tarkov as only you could. Thanks for the continued enlightenment!
One of your best videos for sure. This felt like a service to the community. Much appreciated!
Damn the series is entertaining! Very cool, nerdy enough stuff, really enjoying the episodes. Thanks for the ton of work, Veritas!
I can really tell how much effort you put into your videos. Love it
The hole series and this video especially expresses was I personally feelt in the last half year of playing EFT.
