@@xiopia3940 yeah ... this game's difficulty becomes borderline trivial once you understand scav AI and positioning. The game stops being intimidating and all the excitement comes from PVP which is like 15 to 20 percent of a raid usually at least for me. 9/10 of my deaths to AI now are just to scav bosses.. It's pretty much an unwinnable battle as no matter how much they change the AI people will adapt and unlock level 4 plus armor in time and turn the game into a run and gun pvp fest. I take huge breaks from EFT for many reasons veritas talks about in this video. All of them under the same branch of "total BS" like netcode, scavs bugging out, etc
Yeah no other FPS is this broken and inconsistent and unfair. Not because I want to win, but if I drill you with M995 and you don't die, turn and one-tap me with 5.45 BP, that's bullshit.
they should just do away with leveling "strength". Wearing heavy armor should have big downsides across the board. Right now a sweatlord who AFK powerleveled strength to elite is able to play like it's call of duty while wearing heavy gear. It's stupid.
THANK YOU, for the first time in awhile someone in the community takes a realistic approach to this game (both from a gameplay and development standpoint) , in specific the "Getting Outplayed" section really shined a light on a message more people in this community should take a look at. Also the quality of these videos are outstanding!
if i could like this video a thousand times, i would! As a 2017 EFT solo veteran, i lost all trust in my skills in the past couple of months...i just kept getting my ass handed to me over and over again...so i stopped playing...i decided to take a break because i wasn't sure if i was just getting old, or if i just sucked now...hahaha thanks to you, i kind of know what was the problem now.. I remember feeling like i lost my edge or like the tarkov gods were against me all of a sudden! Missing every shots on moving targets, getting killed while in cover, getting randomly #Tarkoved while in full aggressor mode in the custom dorms by a rubber banding player crossing from room to room... those clips and playbacks in slow motion made me realize what was going on. Thank you for taking the time to edit all those clips together. Epic work bud
@@kinsgaming8197 its so true tbh. In Insurgency Sandstorm i can click heads like john wick when im really feeling myself, meanwhile in tarkov i often struggle to hit shots that would be easy for me in Insurgency.
I thought your point about distrust towards the game was really valid. The number of times (pre 12.8) that I would see scavs to teleport through doors was ridiculous. Factory office was the worst offender. I definitely knew this feeling, but never thought about it as distrust. I was just expecting the game to break, expecting the sound to not register, expecting my headshot to be a delayed kill, or expecting a grenade to either kill me from super far away, or not kill me despite exploding at my feet. But when you labeled this feeling as distrust, it made perfect sense to me. It really is distrust, and no game should make the players paranoid about it simply not working. I really love these videos. They are such high quality, and it's really apparent just how much work, effort, and care has gone into them.
Finally took the time to watch this video entirely. Im glad I did.The montage at the end made me wanted to get back into the game seriously more then ever! Thanks V.
Absolutely love this video, along with the previous. I remember watching your zeroing vid and found that approach perfect for removing all confusion over the current zeroing system with all the false assumptions that come with it. The movement clips you showed are also something I've been talking about in the community. Apart from the stutter steps and buggier movement, the lack of inertia on normal, functioning movement past overweightedness and sprinting leads to so many whiffed shots, especially when sniping. It's another example of a norman door that I'm glad had some clips covering it in this video. Real life includes inertia, and various other games have some sort of inertia in movement, anticipation in the animations, or both to avoid the erratic, on demand movement patterns players are capable of producing in Tarkov. I hope the series continues just as strong, and I remain as hopeful for Tarkov's future as you!
Coming back and rewatching this is seriously isnpiring. This is why I play escape from tarkov. You so perfectly describe how I feel right now in the wipe, and you also have reminded me of the things I've forgotten that may be causing me to lose so many fights right now. Thank you for this. I hope the future of tarkov is as hopeful as you make it sound in this video. Please keep posting content like this.
This is some of the absolute best content about this game that can be applied to most any games. it's honestly why i have been a subscriber for so long. consistent well thought out and explained with logic. more please.
I love this style of video from you. It helps put things most people kind of understand or relate to into tangible interpretations as well as clarify for those that don't. It was well worth the time to watch.
I can't help but notice how relevant this video is to Rainbow 6 Siege as well, even though the games are very different. The Expectation vs. Reality segment stood out to me, though in Siege this is more focused on the way the game is balanced, where the Community's Expectations =/= the Devs Reality as well as some game mechanics and server issues shouldn't even exist when they do. Great video, looking forward to more!
Coming from a MechE university student, loving your vids, it's a nice type of content! Glad to see you're 'enjoying' Tarkov after the patch but I know what it can be like, sometimes things just feel unfair, be that on the desync, hackers, etc. Can't wait for when it's just you and Tarkov, nothing inbetween.
Really top tier content. I really enjoy this holistic examination of what it feels like to play Tarkov. Most people can't articulate it as well as you put it here. Very well done.
This video explains what most of the wipe has felt to me. I thought that maybe it was just me, but alas i am not alone and you have opened my eyes even wider to the problem that plagues tarkov currently
I hear you. I also come from a IT/software development based background. I also understand that most gamer's can be just as bad as Janet from accounting. They have unrealistic expectations, and a inability to communicate rationally because their feelings are in the way. Tarkov is really good at dragging your feelings into it no matter how much you try not to let it.
I always love hearing your insight and perspective on things. What you said at the end about it just being player vs player. That is the dream. Not being salty about an engagement no matter the outcome and thinking “gg” and meaning it. Keep up the great work
Veritas, I love the effort you put into your videos. I also love the passion and effort you put into making Tarkov better, your criticisms are fair and should be addressed. Great job, hope the Devs see this video. Thanks.
I put out a tweet recently which said something along the lines of “something is wrong” - the issues covered in this video, are/were that something and now we can all quantify our experiences thanks to your hard work. Thank you! Also, the montage at the end was epic haha, great composition on the music too!
Another good video on the subject. Since you talked about making this a series on the Pogcast, I got excited for more of that philosophical and in-depth approach, and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to the video on skill gaps, how to overcome and know when to give up, if that's gonna be one of them.
As a gamer who majored in political science & history, and currently finishing my last year of law school I really appreciate how intellectual this is. Not only this one, but all of your videos. Amazing video ! I agree that the ranging on tarkov needs some work, I feel like the zeroing should automatically adjust for whatever round you have loaded into the chamber when loaded into the raid, so while you can mix and match ammo, if you have a m995 chambered, the gun would be zeroed for m995 during the raid loading phase. See that's an issue that IRL doesn't really get, from my time serving in the armed Forces, we all zeroed on ball ammo thus ammo type and velocity becomes a non-issue (tracer rounds are the same as ball in terms of ballistic performance) at 100 meters (100 yards for Americans, the default zeroing distance) and once you adjusted the radial on your sight, in my case the C79, 300 meters was indeed 300 meters because I zeroed for the proper ammunition. Obviously there were issues to zeroing, temperature being one, possibly changing the trajectory of the round but it was still indeed "accurate" unless you were a marksman or a sniper engaging at longer ranges than regular infantry. Hopefully this is fixed in the future, it would make long range engagements and sniping much more fruitful.
Above all else, the amount of time and effort you put into videos is insane and tremendously inspiring my dude. Amazing video and keep up the amazing work.
I have never felt more understood and more clear minded after watching this video this shows every single detail of why I love and why I hate tarkov. Thank you please keeping making amazing videos ♥️♥️
This video series is already changing my perspective on the game. Please keep making this series, as it has the potential to help players develop more respect for the game as a whole. Also, I know it takes time to produce quality content, but I want the next video today dude. GG's if we cross paths.
Something they did recently with 12.8 on the initial patch that I still to this day will attribute my high recent win ratio and my first ever scav boss kill on none other than Sanitar himself, is that of “SCAV WEAPON SWAY.” Yes, it implies that the reason why you got Head Eyes one tapped before across the layers of soft cover from way further than you could ever see by the predator vision boys that back up Sanitar, is because they could see through bushes but most importantly because their weapons behaved differently to them, then they do to us. This is a Norman Door too. You can clip your game play and see how a scav was walking toward you while shooting and got the perfect one tap to the face, but you were standing still mostly and side stepped once so your shot missed as it should. Theirs should have as well and all you can chalk it up to is “well the boy got lucky” or “the bot is literally aim botting me.” Thing is the bots had Tarkov Prime, a paid for subscription that allows you access to a version of the game that is 20 times better than the EOD version most of us know and love. Tarkov Prime was deactivated for the scavs when they introduced this, and I think it’s fair to say you can push scavs more aggressively to invoke a heavy bleed, as they cope with weapon sway the way we do, and suffer immensely from the ground being ripped out from under their scavy legs. Their door has been reversed, while our Norman door has been fixed.
And then there's Lvndmark. But honestly, thank you for this informative video, it will ease the pain a bit, "gid gud" on forums just doesn't help, it's great to see a successful content creator addressing this in depth, understanding how frustrating it is to be constantly at the wrong place at the wrong time, never be on the lucky side no matter how well geared, passive or cautious, getting headeyes within 30 seconds of the raid, finally obtaining that quest/expensive item and knowing you won't make it out alive. I thought I'm cursed. Literally tagged and cursed. Hard earned level 28. So thank you.
Incredibly well said and summed up. I couldn't have put it better and I think even I realized a bit better what exactly has been bothering me in Tarkov lately compared to 3 years ago. Take this as a huge compliment as it certainly is one. Great content! Thank you so much and have a great day =)
Killer Video! I have been feeling these issues for a while, and honestly sometimes I think im just going crazy, but it feels good to see someone have a technical view of the situation as it stands. Also, so glad i stayed till the end. Love this video, pls gib moaaarr!
I am absolutely loving this video!! I don't know how many arguments I've had with fellow backers of a specific game that recently went into Alpha testing.. So many ppl started sh**ing on it instantly about how they see it as unplayable etc.. Told them time and time again that it's their expectations that was in the wrong.. Aswell as their knowledge of what Alpha Testing is supposed to accomplish..
37:16 I noticed you gave credit to 'ic6yyUWU' whilst the person showcased in that clip is 'BlizzyR6' I can see how that happened, I was there that night and ic6yyUWU was another person you killed in that firefight. (I believe the last guy using Warmage)
Honestly loving this series so much more than the hottest guns. the analysis and explanation are way more immersive and captivating than the "showman" in the guns series. Thank you for your thoughts!
Thanks Veritas for the last 2 vids. quality! Started with one of my friends after a year brake. Thanks to him being new to the game I can re-discover Tarkov again :D I go into raid with on expectation: "I will die" :)
"How many times the experience that you felt was unfair?" This is the first wipe since Labs introduction when my least damaged area overall is right leg instead of head. This many times. My head turned into a bullet magnet. Something is not right. I think that game's netcode is falling apart because they never expected to have so many players.
A very thought-out and informative take from a gaming and development point of view I actually learned a lot from this video, not just about Tarkov but in other areas as well that's what kind of content I look for on RUclips so thank you Veritas, keep it up my dude! If you read this please take it with a pinch of salt and don't think I'm having a rant but after watching this I really do think more people need to listen to what Veritas is saying, for example - Breaking Expectations, I can pretty much guarantee every one who plays Tarkov has their own expectations of what other players will do but when they do the complete opposite of what you thought was going to happen, you get killed and get salty asf and blame the game when its you who fucked up. I fall in to this category too because it's just Tarkov, but we need to understand the game better (practice more, play more effectively e.g be more confident in moving around the map, know where Scavs and players will spawn and move accordingly. Just a few examples here) but my main point is focus on making the game better for every one, like sending any bugs, video clips etc.. through the EFT bug report they do get looked at trust me. That's the best way we can help the developers sort these issues out instead filling up their time with useless information is alls I'm saying. BSG have quite a few departments working on the game like map design, game play mechanics, audio tuning all that good stuff that makes the game what it is but these things take time, time in which we need to be patient and understanding to make the game better, as frustrating and boring as it sounds. I've watched hundreds of videos on Reddit, RUclips, Twitch you name it because people were so angry and frustrated for being killed in game and their 'evidence' (that's what they call it) had no proof of any wrong doing other than being out-played by the other player. Imagine having to cipher through thousands of complaints, pointless reports and no useful info that would give me a massive migraine I can't imagine how the developers must feel. But yea sorry for the long story just wanted to express my feelings towards it all, hopefully it made sense to anyone reading this if not I apologies in advance I left school when I was 15 to start my career in the army, wasn't a high-flyer lol.
As a labs only player, and being decent. Nothing is more frustrating than that distrust in the game that you described perfectly, whether it's fighting players or raiders for that matter.
Okay wow I have to write another Comment after watching and I must say that this Episode is even better than the last one lol. Digging deeper into the materia of things could be your thing, was really well done.
39:11 is pretty much tarkov summed up for me right now. I'm always playing duos with the same guy and we have observed so much of that happening. The dialogue among the lines of "Why was your mag empty, you didn't shoot a single bullet? - Yeah I did, emptied my whole mag in him." happens quite a lot. Or our own classic by now: "Are you alright? - Yeah, of course? - What do you mean 'of course', you just got hit by that scav? - No, I didn't, he missed all his shots. - Bro, your character was moaning like three or four times for me."
DUDE INERTIA, like the Networking problem with movement is because u can A D spam so the network has to catch up to your client being teleported to the side as is Tarkov movement, so with inertia that small window of acceleration from 0-walk speed would alleviate the strain on the network, God willing they will make their netcode better but less strain on the network is never a bad thing especially when you have lag spikes that are not necessarily the game's fault PS: I've been playing insurgency sandstorm and I feel the movement is very much slower than tarkov, which I don't prefer, but the inertia in that game is really well executed and it would be lovely to see that in our game
Truly amazing Tarkov content here. I was able to watch this entire video in a single sitting with ease. Keep this kind of stuff coming Veritas! I think these kinds of videos will do wonders to temper a lot of the reactions people have from the outcomes of engagements and do a lot to help us get this game where we really want it.
this wipe i stopped playing to 5 months or so i know a lot of ppl was useing the packet cheat but i kept dieing on customs over and over a bunch of weird ways and ive played this game for years now and haven't stopped playing but i kept getting one tapped to the head or just died weird so much it could have been great shots i know i get them sometimes but it seems to be alot better right now thank god. i hate the strafing speed they need to make players have momentum or something great video glad to see you above 100k now
I wouldn't mind the desync and erratic player movement caused by netcode if it was unavoidable due to the nature of internet gaming. But it's 2020 and games made 15 years ago feels much smoother than Tarkov.

Yes, it implies that the reason why you got Head Eyes one tapped before across the layers of soft cover from way further than you could ever see by the predator vision boys that back up Sanitar, is because they could see through bushes but most importantly because their weapons behaved differently to them, then they do to us.
Thank you so much and have a great day =)
Great video, love the Tarkov soundtrack toward the end there.
I've really enjoyed your take and analysis in your recent videos, solid work as always.
This series is amazing, Veritas. As you mentioned in your pogcast, I'm so glad you made the "right" videos. :)
Amazing video Veritas, as always. I love your content, keep up the good work!
gotta love this holistic view of the world of Tarkov!
Love to see the videos, so excited about this series
37:16 I noticed you gave credit to 'ic6yyUWU' whilst the person showcased in that clip is 'BlizzyR6' I can see how that happened, I was there that night and ic6yyUWU was another person you killed in that firefight. (I believe the last guy using Warmage)
THANK YOU FOR POINTING THIS OUT! I pinned a comment hoping to remedy this :(
@@VeritasGames glad I can be of help, can't wait for future episodes
i'm gay
Honestly loving this series so much more than the hottest guns. the analysis and explanation are way more immersive and captivating than the "showman" in the guns series. Thank you for your thoughts!
Thanks Veritas for the last 2 vids. quality! Started with one of my friends after a year brake. Thanks to him being new to the game I can re-discover Tarkov again :D I go into raid with on expectation: "I will die" :)
I love this series so far, great work!
"How many times the experience that you felt was unfair?"
This is the first wipe since Labs introduction when my least damaged area overall is right leg instead of head.
This many times.
My head turned into a bullet magnet. Something is not right. I think that game's netcode is falling apart because they never expected to have so many players.
you have an insane skillset and would probably be desirable for employment in any field honestly. you are the man veritas! keep strummin
Veritas makes the highest quality, most intelligent, and thorough EFT videos in the community... period.
I am about 13 minutes in since I saw the video go live. Good work Veritas. I love this type of content
The Saturday Footage looks amazing! I can feel how it felt like a while ago. When i, like you said, belive the game!!!!!
Such an amazing unique take on Tarkov content . Love it
Recommended video. Awesome content with fantastic presentation! Subbed without question
I love this mixture of game analysis and human psychology. Great stuff!
As a labs only player, and being decent. Nothing is more frustrating than that distrust in the game that you described perfectly, whether it's fighting players or raiders for that matter.
I can’t even fathom having enough money to be a “labs only player” wtf
The redemption at the end is fucking priceless. The feels.
Okay wow I have to write another Comment after watching and I must say that this Episode is even better than the last one lol.
Digging deeper into the materia of things could be your thing, was really well done.
He’s a software engineer, it’s what we do
The end clips where tarkov actually worked, were very nice treat even tho i saw most of it live :D
Such amazing video.
Seeing Veritas genuinely enjoying Tarkov again brought a tear to my eye.
Which was promptly looted by a hatchling, but progress is progress.
I greatly appreciated this video Veritas ! Well done ! :)
Loved the first video of the series. Really interesting take tbh.
GREAT work. Excellent content and production
Wow man, the cuts of other streams is really good editing work.
Great content! Best Tarkov video in a long time!
Where’s the entomology video I accidentally requested? Kidding - love this so much
Thank you so much for putting this so eloquently and giving me an option to show my friends when they ask whats wrong haha...
solid video, and beast clips at the end
39:11 is pretty much tarkov summed up for me right now. I'm always playing duos with the same guy and we have observed so much of that happening. The dialogue among the lines of "Why was your mag empty, you didn't shoot a single bullet? - Yeah I did, emptied my whole mag in him." happens quite a lot.
Or our own classic by now: "Are you alright? - Yeah, of course? - What do you mean 'of course', you just got hit by that scav? - No, I didn't, he missed all his shots. - Bro, your character was moaning like three or four times for me."
I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. Your content is so well thought out.
DUDE INERTIA, like the Networking problem with movement is because u can A D spam so the network has to catch up to your client being teleported to the side as is Tarkov movement, so with inertia that small window of acceleration from 0-walk speed would alleviate the strain on the network, God willing they will make their netcode better but less strain on the network is never a bad thing especially when you have lag spikes that are not necessarily the game's fault
PS: I've been playing insurgency sandstorm and I feel the movement is very much slower than tarkov, which I don't prefer, but the inertia in that game is really well executed and it would be lovely to see that in our game
Another banger Veritas. This series is great!
Excellent work veritas, as a developer myself, i can sign everything you said.
Truly amazing Tarkov content here. I was able to watch this entire video in a single sitting with ease.
Keep this kind of stuff coming Veritas! I think these kinds of videos will do wonders to temper a lot of the reactions people have from the outcomes of engagements and do a lot to help us get this game where we really want it.
this wipe i stopped playing to 5 months or so i know a lot of ppl was useing the packet cheat but i kept dieing on customs over and over a bunch of weird ways and ive played this game for years now and haven't stopped playing but i kept getting one tapped to the head or just died weird so much it could have been great shots i know i get them sometimes but it seems to be alot better right now thank god. i hate the strafing speed they need to make players have momentum or something great video glad to see you above 100k now
Dude I can never play like that.😅 The music and the video legit gave me happy vibes to see you having “fun” again!
Dude you deserve way more attention then what you have right now, keep it up.
I wouldn't mind the desync and erratic player movement caused by netcode if it was unavoidable due to the nature of internet gaming. But it's 2020 and games made 15 years ago feels much smoother than Tarkov.
