Today's updates have changed the game in EXACTLY the ways I wanted. Just got done a 9 hour stream of fun and excitement - the first in a LONG time. It actually felt like 2018 in all of the best ways, without laser beam recoil and bunny hopping like everyone is afraid of. It's not perfect, but god damn it's sure as hell a start! Thank you for all of the support from the community and those that spoke up in agreement, it was everyone coming together to help make these changes happen. Keep the feedback to Nikita and BSG constructive and good things will come.
Will you leave this video up? Many new players will be confused if this video has a million views in a couple weeks. They may avoid the game if they don't understand how fast BSG updated things
Aye, i have been playing since launch and game was at its best imo when streamers strarted playing, after that it just got worst and worst. Barely even opened game last wipe anymore :/
Imo the reason why old Tarkov looked and felt so much more fun was because it felt like the player was in control of a trained military operative, using whatever he can find. Currently, it feels more like the player is controlling some random bloke trying to figure out how survival works, let alone guns.
Would be kinda cool of your character got better at controlling recoil, movement, and that shit as they leveled up. Though that'd make the game impossible for new players, its still a cool idea
fr, sometimes I feel like I'm more physically fit than my PMC who is "Trained Ex-Military Personel". The baseline of skill, expertise and strength should be "Trained Military Personel" and not "random military aged male that happens to be in an apocolypse"
Honesty this kind of seems like a better premise than a horde of mercenaries who decided to stay in a Hellmouth with no stable pay, no stable source of food, nowhere to go if they get hurt and nobody to trust. It just seems like a really poor business decision for someone who is ultimately supposed to be financially motivated above all else. It makes much more sense that we are just another scav learning to survive in a post-societal collapse wasteland. Perhaps Tarkov is the location of some sort of false hope myth and so survivors from all over congregate there hoping for a better life but they only find violence and greed.
Man, you single-handedly made devs to actually hear the community and explained in detail every pain we had to cope with for recent 4-5 wipes. Kudos for that!
Sorry for that, but saying "the community" is not only people who follow streamers etc.. There is a lot of people like me who don't even want this kind of shitty update, but anyway I feel like i'm just a piece of shit and now dev are more involved about listening random streamer than be focus on their own vision ! Saddest things, Nikita don't even got the community he want, few years ago he was saying in a interview "this is very hard game for people who wants challenge", now is all about STIMS to be robocop and then full auto 7.62 with like 35 of recoil lol anyway, i don't like this way, but i'm gonna spray like a idiot at every game ! As they said, "Spray and PRay" that's what you guys want ^^
@@TroutmanRoger Clearly not a part of the community looking to actually improving the game for the better. If you can't control the recoil of your gun that's a you problem, not the guns problem, sorry but it's not like your shooting a fucking cannon.
@@NarutoMagicCyclops there is a point you miss, or maybe my english is very bad. But anyway, now its the most easiest thing to do in Tarkov to control the recoil, i mean there is no recoil anymore so what are you talking about ? I'm complaining about the recoil update because now you can full auto anyone without the presssure we got before like "oh if i full auto this guy, he is not so close and i will probably misse every shot" now this things is over ! Because anyway 7.62 or 5.56 you can transform them like a toy with no recoil anymore.
@@NarutoMagicCyclops and when i said "spray and pray" don't take it seriously, it's a way to say "now its more easy and i will not bring semi auto in raid, i will full auto like a idiot, because that's what people want apparently" so reading you saying "if you can't control your gun"that's nonsense lol, now with the good modding anyone can control the recoil even dude who don't even know Tarkov 😂
@@TroutmanRoger If someone is 25-75 meters out, full auto is completely viable. I don't know what your complaint is about it. Before the update even semi-auto wasn't even viable for most guns, it's idiotic to think the gun itself has such uncontrollable recoil for anything smaller than a .50 cal, like I said you're not autoing cannons. If everyone has the same level of recoil to deal with that is controllable then it becomes a skill issue on the users end, that much is pretty obvious.
I'm glad you brought up HUDs. People act like it's so unrealistic when it just translates info that you would realistically be aware of if you were physically present.
I remember one of my clanmates griping about how they had to watch the ammo count instead of being aware of it based on weight like how they’d do in real life. shit like that video games simply can’t translate one-to-one.
@@oscaranderson5719 this is a bad take from you, tarkov has no ammo count and you simply have to remember how much ammo is in your mags and you get a feel for when you are about to empty, an ammo counter is the least important part of a hud. i could turn that shit off in cod and it wouldnt matter
Jesus. Jaw dropped with how spot on and well put together this is. This hits every frustration Ive had but didnt know how to voice outside of "recoil sucks" "movement sucks". Said it best with the OG's dont want old tarkov back. We want the fun and feeling of old tarkov. I truly truly miss being extremely excited for wipes and grinding.
For real I remember playing multiple full 6 month long wipes all the way through now after around a month I just lose interest because I feel as though no amount of skill matters to the outcome of most my raids and it just isn’t fun
Well said. I'm constantly toe dipping in Tarkov these days... Every time I attempt to re-commit because of the awesome moments I can and have captured over the years, I just know it's only a matter of time before I take another huge break because of the time commitment and overly punishing nature of what Nikita perceives to be "realism" chipping away at my enjoyment of the game and willingness to endure the nonsense of it all. *sigh* launches EFT
it feels like every update im looking for 1 bone thrown in the direction of "dont make me waste my entire week trying to literally do 1 quest" but every update they just make quests harder and remove more items from the starting traders
For me it's hard to say. It's just not fun anymore. There are not enough happy moments to make up for the monotony and grindiness plus the intense punishment.
You put so much time and thought into this message and it shows, and resonates well. I really hope the devs have already watched at this point. Thank you for making this
@@Frs_Jakeyou like it now but will hate it. There’s so much wrong with it. And also literally all lobbies Have cheaters there was a vid made on it by someone recently and was very informative
I always use to joke with my friends about how "I am a high skilled operator that doesn't know how to climb a small fence, and me taking a shot and just giving up on life". This video really hit that spot, keep up the good work and we hope BSG will take consideration to this.
They definitely need to add an adrenaline system or something, especially with how slow & clunky our characters are now. Our dudes should not be giving up on life because someone scratched their expensive plate armor, or because a bullet grazed their arm.
@@BigL3Z what, do you mean real soldiers dont stuff 6 bags of croutons up their ass pre engagement to eat so they dont start blacking out and fucking shitting themselves coughing up a lung after a half hour outside base???
@@CircumSamurai like an automatic "you just got shot, you have 15 seconds to either fight or get out, but you're gonna feel like shit after" switch? Thats a bandaid for the greater damage, stamina, movement problem.
This man turned every ragequit anyone playing tarkov has every had and turned it into a valid and understandable argument. Well played, with any luck this will wake up some of the community and get this game back on the right track.
Would love a part 2 of this where you talk about how the game doesn't value your time, the meta of things, economy, and all the other things you didn't get to
Yea definitely doesn't value your time. The amount of play time you need to just get the flea market or tier two vendors is crazy. If you can only play a couple hours a week, then you are just going to be at a massive disadvantage at all times.
I’m a new player and remember the very first thing I though when I entered my first raid is “wow the stamina system in this game really sucks, it would really benefit from some kind of adrenaline mechanic, but the game is in early access so they probably just haven’t added it yet” but now I realize they should have and could have added something like this a while ago, nice to see some people with real influence share this opinion.
I wish I was there I started in 2020 but I'm still glad I started then over now. I appreciate things from both the past and the present although I think overall the new stuff will eventually rule over the past if they take some of the old patches that were good back into the game.
I hope Nikita sees this and considers this feedback. Great job, Veritas. Keep up the good work and don't forget that there are those of us that value your take.
@@letmeregisterbitch he doesn't think he's the perfect game developer, he doesn't care about the game at all, he cares about the experience, which he's crafting to be how he wants it and he openly doesn't care if it's for everyone, he sees it as an artistic endeavor, not a game.
Man, as a dude who played Tarkov back when the only mode was FACTORY BOTS I wish the game developed differently. I stopped playing a long time ago and honestly, it's guys like you still pushing the game that give me hope. Don't give up man. I hope this video forces people to listen.
I got into earliest alpha wave and ive gradually played less and less each wipe as more and more were added. Im the reason you cant go under customs bridge anymore cause i camped that spot ebery day for a wipe and it was blocked off soon after. Truly the most realistic game ever created where an realistic sneaky spot thats easy to check is inaccessible
You know it really is insane how many sights were basically rendered useless by the recoil. Just watching the last segment of the video is mind blowing. Hopefully we can get back to something similar in the future. Great video!
I loved this game but I quit right after they added med animations as I saw the writing on the walls it was going to go in a direction I wasn't excited about I figured I got a good 1k hours out of it and haven't played since
you and me, and my friend, we all said the same thing. this video made us uninstall tarkov last night. it reminded us of why we started playing tarkov, and why we cant find enjoyment in it anymore.
@@Omaygot_Yugonmakmibus for real. I only played a little bit before they made the FIR change but i never quite understood why. For certain quests I understand why it works better but being unable to flea items you literally found in raid just because the game says you didn't is confusing
At 37:35 the emergency reload magazine falling at the same rate as you as you kill the other guy while still being concussed by the nade, followed by the blindfire all with the menu's music... *chef's kiss* haha
Just coming by again to say, you did it. I'm 100% giving you credit for bringing REAL examples in a very well laid out and clearly explained way to get BSG to listen, and they actually did. I know you're obviously not the only one talking about this stuff, but you took it from complaints with no support to real world examples that are time and time again proven. Good shit man.
Nikita is going to see this and be like “oh yeah there is a hud that shows you what part of your body is injured…now let’s make it where you have to sit there and examine yourself for 30 seconds to figure out where you are injured”
Another situation of developers having no idea what they want to do with the game vs what the community really needs. Destroying their own game just like insurgency sandstorm did to the og insurgency playerbase.
9 months later and just saw this video, it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. Very educated, full of backed up opinions and counter arguments to valid arguments, keep up the work. This is amazing
@@zolo-p3p they’ve reverted stamina consumption, decreased energy consumption in raid, reduced recoil for all weapons, stamina penalty decreased when hit by bullets, increased weight limit when overweight, reduced armor penalties to ergonomics and stamina
@@FemboichadClip nah, If youve played 2020 you'll remember those times, its so much better rn again imo. Now they only need to fix their netcoding, audio and cheater problems, so still lots of work to do, but at least its going into the right direction again
You have made one of the most clear cut videos explaining exactly how so many of us feel about the direction of the game.. thank you veritas. I hope Nikita and the BSG team see this and reflect on some of the changes they have made!
This really made me consider what is meant by "the old game" never really played it beyond 2 years ago, but this all seems logical and makes perfect sense, hope Nikita sees this
Tarkov veteran here. Played since the 2nd wipe. Put easily over 5000+ hours into this game. It was something special. No matter how many times I died, I would get back up and try try again. Even when I felt cheated in some way, I kept going knowing that there was always more to learn and a better strat to play. Never took breaks and played heavily during the begging of every wipe. Even the bad ones. More and more I kept getting shit on and I just kept telling my self "I need to get better" "I just got out played" "maybe next time" I averaged 50% survival rate over 300-1000 raids. Best being 65% at one point. But now my survival rate is 6% no that's not a typo. 6%.... No matter how well I play. No matter how nasty of a shot I get off. No matter how hard I try. I'm not rewarded for my hard work and I don't get any better. I tried to convince my self that it was all the better gamers joining the game. That I was just not following meta. That maybe I fell off as a player and need to try twice as hard. But I never got better. That was half the intrigue of the game for me. The feeling of becoming a more grizzled PMC. The feeling of slowly earning your way up to the top. Not just through sheer hours, but through analysis and hard work. You felt your self get better, even when you didn't have a number like level to tell you you got better. That's all gone now. Not only do I feel like I sank to the bottom of the barrel. Not only do I feel like no matter how much I play I'm not getting better, I'm getting worse. But worst of all, I'm not having fun. Dying over and over again just to eventually make it out was a terrific feeling of success. Knowing you traversed the hellscape that is Tarkov enough time to make some progress in your character and in your game skills. It felt amazing. Challenging to say the least, but it was a rewarding feeling. I never felt more defeated in my recent games. I kept attributing it to my fault. When i did eventually get some extractions. They felt bland and based off luck. After watching this video, I can safely say its the game and not the player. My boy Veritas, the man, the myth, the legend. Who pummeled me more times than once in-game. The guy who I watched calmly and methodically devour whole squads from day one, is now having the same troubles I have. I think I can put the AK down and give it a rest until the game gets fixed to a better state. I don't think its a skill issue when someone who is probably in the top 500 players like Veritas is struggling landing a headshot, controlling his recoil, not getting 1 tapped with class 4 on, or running 50 meters with midclass gear and getting winded. RIP Tarkov. May the devs cast a revive on you one day. Until then, you will be missed.
I feel the very same way, I haven't played as much as you but I too have the feeling of never progressing or even regressing no matter how much time I invest in the game. I can't remember the last time a raid felt satisfying
Just because you are a veteran does not mean you get to experience the game as a good player, that requires work. Sometimes it's just accepting that you just ain't it.
These are reasons I just play call of duty. I have fun when I play that game. Often times when I play tarkov, I feel every emotion under the sun except fun. I have fun in tarkov, but is often overshadowed by disparity.
I just started playing The game again after 3 years of The game. It has lost something. I played The game from The beginning and into late 2019. Back then my experience rewarded me. Now i feel like a total noob. The game mechanics is weird now. And i sure miss The Old tarkov. I am not sure i will be playing a lot, since it cause more distress than good days playing. And it is sad. I hope devs Will find their way and make a game that is with The soul of Old tarkov again. That was something special.
I remember getting into this game around 2017-2018, been waiting 3 years for someone to make a video like this. I'd love to see the game come back around and be able to enjoy it again.
3 years ago is about when I completely lost faith in BSG. This wipe is just a culmination of their poor management. Glad that Veritas, the guy I respect a lot, has a similar vision. The only thing I hope now is that there is a developer who will actually see the potential in our community and will create a game which we demand so hardly
Funnily enough 3 years ago is when Nikita said tarkov is not supposed to be fun in a podcast, I can't find the clip anywhere but it's stuck in my head since that day. I gave up hope when I realized how egotistical the devs are.
This is my favourite video you've made, I really hope Nikita sees this, sits down and really has a think about the direction the game is going in. Thank you for everything you do for the community.
I love the fact Veritas only hinted at the massive cheater problem. My 4th wipe now, and when I started I was never sure of cheaters, last wipe was 1 in 15 raids you would have no doubt. Now 1 in 5 if you are lucky, and they are so blatant about it.
@@JS-qb7he Probably because there is nothing to say that hasn't already been said a million times before on the topic. There are, has been and always will be cheaters, the more popular the game gets the more there will be. Its an on going battle in every single game, but with the real world monetary gain Tarkov can provide, the problem gets 100x worse. The only thing you can do is report sus players when you see them, and hope that the anti-cheat catches them if they are cheating. On a side note, all I could think of during the end montage is how much I want the old optics back. GIVE ME MY PK-06/MRS BACK NIKITA!!!
@Veritas good lord that was a phenomenal video! Can't believe with the amount of videos of yours that I've watched I hadn't seen it before. I especially loved the Insurgency segment which admittedly is one of my favorite games right now and it makes sense as to why. I also completely agree with the PMC recognition part which honestly is why I mainly play Tarkov as a solo. I tried to get friends into the game and they all quit for various reasons, but teammate recognition mixed with the lack of memorizing the first 30 tasks ruined the game for them all...lvl 15 flea is terrible and with the new restrictions should go back down to lvl 10. Maybe a future video (I know you mentioned you considered putting into this one) on the absurd difficulty for a new player in the Modern Tarkov is needed as well. The flow state of Tarkov absolutely needs addressed so hopefully Nikita truly takes these things into consideration as I feel like more and more players will move on from the game. You've done incredible work for this community as you know Veritas, hopefully the game turns around before it's too late! Thank you for all your efforts!
@@VeritasGames Did you seriously make a video unironically featuring the "if you want a realistic game you should trip randomly" argument? How are you this utterly insufferable?
I have been feeling like Tarkov hasn't been as fun for a long time. I thought I was just getting old. Watching the clips of the old Tarkov, now that looks like a fun game I could sink my limited time into. Fantastic video my guy.
Tarkov hasn't been a fun game since september to december 2020 imo, the game was so fun and we could enjoy everything that was in the game. Now I am just waiting Arena to see if we will have a pvp experience like the good old days !
There is server emulation, but unsure how far back it goes and how much of it functions for each version of Tarkov. A recent build is generally going to be the one that is being hosted by anyone. I managed to find old game builds, but no server emulators for them. I think one of them is an alpha version because of the flashlights I saw in Jackfrags' video, I wanted to try it out but I only have the client and I forgot to see if anyone has an emulator for the server for that game version and maybe that Discord server has been shut down now, I'm rarely on there. I only have recent game builds and server emulators for them, like the client version before and after the inertia update.
@@PxPates Game peaked in late 2019, when Labs first came out. This was before the massive influx of players brought in due to RUclips's algorithm and Twitch drops. It has been a slow but steady decline since then. Loved what they have added in the form of maps and bosses and weapons, but some of the mechanics and mainly the people have just ruined Tarkov. Hate to gatekeep, but Tarkov was 1000% better before the massive influx of players. Less cheaters as well.
@@hydra1683-m7u I've played since alpha, the cheaters have always been pretty ridiculous but you're 100% right about twitch drops ruining the game. Holy shit dude thank you SO MUCH for this video. People like me haven't had a voice in Tarkov over the reddit armchairs until now. This was VERY VERY VERY needed. I hope we see better things in the future.
Finally. After all this time, someone was able to put into words what I couldn't and lacked the skill for. Thank you for this, can only hope things get changed in the future, for the better.
i dont care what anyone says. inertia aka input delay has to be the worse thing to happen to tarkov. somehow i can jump 3 ft into the air and jump on boxes with 50kg on my back. i can sprint and jump futher than usain bolt. but i cant change direction in a swift simple manner that a toddler is more capable of.
you have to jump to get on top of a 1ft ledge. you cant walk on it. i have to jump over a 3 ft fence. i cant simply vault (too cod for some) over it. this game feels like absolute shit. its like these pmcs just recently had a stroke and are re learning how to walk and run again.
The hero we need but don’t deserve. Congratulations on cracking through. I fully believe your willingness to put this together facilitated a step in the right direction. I just hope they keep moving.
I SWORE the no movement while blindfiring was a bug. Nobody talked about it and I just couldn't comprehend why BSG would do such a crazy thing. Thank you for this, I think you are the most helpful tarkhov youtuber. Another great video.
Wow, this is spot on in so many ways and I actually defend Tarkov to my friends a lot of the time. This put so much into perspective to me. I feel like I've been in denial so bad!
Man this is the best Tarkov video I seen. I sat down and couldn't stop watching. You actually summarized my feelings to a video with explanation. I didn't experience the early days, it looks like it was a fun game that I realy want to play, not like the game we have today. I keep trying to play but quits because it is not fun. People thinks that the Arena will give us a place to experience a fun gunfight experience. The game is not ready for Arena with the current gungame condition. The condition as I describe it as a "Shooter that can't shoot". I usually play to max traders than start PVP. this is normally when I quit. now days I didn't get to lvl 15 . I got enough sooner. no need to suffer.
I agree with all of these points. I love the emphasis on the fact that my character should be able to control his body and weapon. What we have now is not realism or good for entertainment. The body armor used to extend time to kill for better back and forth engagements. Those fights were the ones that get your blood pumping and have you jumping up and down after winning a tough fight. Now it feels like if you kill someone, you just say "got one" and carry on with no emotion because they died in one shot.
I don't really agree with the claim that armor is too weak at the moment and that making armors even better would somehow make it more about skill. It wouldn't. It would make it more about who can dedicate their whole life to grind the game. Low level players already can't access good ammo at the moment which means that you can magdump a chad in the chest without him dying.
@@FINDarkside that hasn't been my experience at all. I die to 2 bullets with tier 5 armor. That's silly. Makes armor matter way less. More shots to kill does equal more skill to me. More room for outplay. Dying in one or two shots means whoever sees who first. That's luck at that point
@@jl4w54 Then the enemy was shooting with bad ammo. There's a reason why the meta with some ammo is to shoot at legs. It's because hitting thorax doesn't do anything if the enemy has armor.
@@FINDarkside I just don't agree with this man. I have found that having high tier armor is pointless due to how fast you die with it on anyway. Idk what ammo you are shooting at these Chad's with, but I tend to kill tier 5 armor or less with just a few good hits that can come from a single mag. This is not me flexing, most of the time it's luck. But that's also why it doesn't feel good. If you have something tier 5 that costs 210k rubles, you should be tanking someone's pst ammo. You earned the right to tank that. Some dude that went in the raid with a 20k gun with 95 ruble per shot ammo shouldn't have a chance against you if you're walking in there with 2 mil worth of gear
Absolutely amazing points! Especially the weapon control, and stamina not being able to reach cover and just sit there and take it. I gave up on this game when I "Died" to my energy reaching zero because I didn't eat anything in 30 minutes in the raid.
As someone who didn't get to experience early Tarkov, thank you for explaining the nuances and differences over time in the game. It makes a lot more sense why it feels like my PMC turns into a quivering turnip as soon as they start taking enemy fire!
This is why the voice of long time players is so important. Even with 400hrs on Tarkov, I'm very much a noob and had noticed the issues Veritas outlines, yet, looking back, I can see how it has been the source of my frustrations whilst playing. I really home BSG take note
Free labs, running in with a hatchet and baiting raiders over to freeze area. Those were the mf days man. I remember the first time I ran into raiders, I thought they were real PMCs, I was in a full blown firefight with those mother fuckers and my hand was shaking so much that I could barely hold down the wasd keys. The weight system combined with the stamina system was what ruined it for me. I started to lose interest the same time Warrun did. Every game that I spend a lot of time in, it's biggest downfall seems to be the devs and far to many features that just makes the game clunky (r6s).
yeah I miss the feeling of the game between the release of labs to the release of the reserve expansion. The AS VAL meta was just so much fun, so many of the guns felt so good. If they just reverted the recoil changes, it would fix like 90% of the problems for me tbh.
@@shelltoe_soul val wasnt even really meta it was just one of the most fun to use(with the current ammo reworks even the hk and m4 wouldnt be as strong as back then as its not just m995 and bp val spam)
This is the most well spoken analysis of what's happened to the game over time, and I loved every bit of insight. My only complaint is that the devs will ignore literally everything you said and add a bowel movement mechanic or some stupid shit Edit: I'm so happy I was proven wrong just hours after posting. This is a pleasant surprise
That's why you, Veritas, are the best content creator of this game. I really admire your work and your way of analyzing in a "design based" way. Thank you! PS: That COD footage really shows a realistic recoil system... imagine if Tarkov had that recoil. People would think twice before crossing a street doing zigzags and hops because they would be hit multiple times, the tarkov way. Actually, a "COD recoil and movement" could achieve the desired slow, tactical paced combat Nikita wants!
Lol for real, had the same thoughts. I don't play any CoD, but when I saw these clips I just thought "man, if gunplay / recoil in Tarkov would be like that, I'd be amazed!"
even if they decided to cross ...if they have armor that works they might make it and be able to engage again. the overall flow of the fights are not as fun right now.
Man, alpha player here who hasn't felt the love for Tarkov in a while. This video really helped put into perspective how I feel. Those old clips bring back the love I had for the game. Thanks for caring
I had the same feeling even though i only started 3 years ago. Sure it wasn't the "og" tarkov but it was still in a really good spot. But i kept falling out because the only people i could get in a group with were extremely toxic and wouldn't let you stick around if you weren't good enough or would use you as bait and such. And i hated playing solo. Getting 1 tapped only told me i was in a bad spot or i did something to get noticed it didn't teach me all the things i did wrong
I haven't played for the last 4-5 wipes because of this. The exiting montage made me see the game I fell in love with. Not the spreadsheet-ridden shitfest that we have now
Veritas, a man and passion for Tarkov, saying "last ditch effort". Should be the one single, powerful, meaningful and honest sign that this is the beginning of the end if not answered by BSG, and he is not alone.
I have not played Tarkov "back then" and i didn't even realize some of the old features were in the game at one point, but this video really made me wish they make some changes. I like Tarkov the way it is now, but the ideas of the old Tarkov seem a lot more enticing and could make the game a lot less frustrating and a lot more fun to play. Thanks for the video, really well made!
Amazing video. Sadly me and my friends have given up on Tarkov in its current state. We realised we were only playing to try and recreate the feeling we got from 2018-2020 tarkov.
But It's about old EFTs feel, it was drab, you could not play around with mining rigs and shit, let alone have npc conversations. It was despair, like you had your stuff and you HAVE TO extract, anything else fuck you. Maybe, just maybe he has a point, even if it is just his opinion.
Honestly, he just fell in love with an early stripped down version. What Tarkov really is may not be a game for him. Nikita has told us what is coming and I know my friends will stop playing. It’s not the game it was and it’s still changing. People want to interrupt Nikita, and tell him he’s messing it up. It was never intended to be the game it was 2-3 years ago. Many people who love this game will be heartbroken once it shows it’s true colors. They can’t let go, he’s right. He needs to adapt or find another game. His time with this game might be done already, he just doesn’t know it yet. Just listen between the lines. He’s preaching there is no Tarkov of old, there’s an incomplete Tarkov in beta to gather data to make the changes
I have 4k hours since 2018 and my biggest gripes are the same as Veritas. We have no stamina, we can't carry any gear, and we can't control our guns. Arguably the 3 most important things to EFT.
@@ggwp1847 shit for real? Well all the more reason this lift become a game not for us tbh. I have a feeling Tarkov is in a death spiral depending on who you ask
One thing I feel is shared by a lot of the old players is that we never really could get "tired" of old Tarkov. We had our bad raids or even our bad days, but we kept on playing. Nowadays though, I feel as if I can't sit down and play for more than an hour before I'm just tired of the game. It never used to seem like a chore to play like it does now.
Not exactly a fair comparison, its a lot harder to get tired of a game when its still fresh to you. Chances are you'd get tired of the game if it didnt change much over the course of 6 years, and if they didnt change it you'd most likely be getting tired of the game just as fast as you are now.
This happens with almost every game. You get used to something and it doesn't feel fresh anymore. Like Overwatch is a good example for me. I played the shit out of Overwatch and I miss how that game felt. I was so excited to play OW2. OW2 comes out and its different refreshed take on the game but it's still Overwatch. I'll never get that feeling back.
Great explanation - to add, a core element I miss is the feeling that I was so immersed in the raid with my own adrenaline and physically moving my body as I move my character and having that autonomy to survive. I still duck and dive the few times I've played this raid, but it feels disconnected when I have that rush but my character just drags hopelessly to die to the following few shots.
Bro, screaming at the screen like “FUCKING RUN OR DIE YOU PANSY WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!?!?!? IS WITTLE BABY TIWRED AWWWW POOR BABY, MOVE YOR FUCKING ASS” Yea, I did lose my cool like this before. I play a lot less now
One of the OG tarkov creators who has never been afraid to speak their mind even when it's clear it will get you backlash from the community, you have done so much for the community over your years and you will always be remembered as my favorite science man of Tarkov. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with this video and this is exactly how i have felt over the last couple of years and why i barely last a week if that in a tarkov wipe these days... Also I always find myself going back to listen to your tarkov covers every month or two, bangers.
Rewatching this video, now. With our newest patch. I can't help but feel a bit hopeful, a bit hopeful that it definetly isn't too late. And Tarkov is very well able to change for the better, I imagine this video back then must have felt like a cry for help. Hopefully we have reached stepping stones into making a better experience for us all. Thank you Veritas, like always. Loved and still do, getting your streamer item.
As an old school Tarkov player, this hits me hard and how much it relates to my frustrations despite my love for this game. I appreciate you making the time to make this video and to be heard about what is going on. Won't lie, low key made a tear when I was watching all the great old school tarkov gameplay.
Honestly once they made the weight change and arm stam it really killed it for me.. The fact that i cant mount my gun on a wall or surface, yet my arms get tired after 15 seconds having my gun at the ready is a joke. I mean you can mount your guns in CoD... Even crouched i would use my leg to steady my arm while aiming with my rifle. This game was promoted as "realism" and its just so far away from it at this point, while being able to do surgery in 15 seconds as well multiple times in a row. Then add not being able to sell a kitted up Chads gear on the flea after wiping a squad, ruined most of the game for me. Wish i could play a iteration of the game from a few years ago and just stop there lol
Turning off flea and forcing players to do quests killed it. The most important gameplay cycle was the ability to PVP and then sell it so you could buy your own guns to PvP with. It's not an RPG game and it's not a PVE game. It wasn't marketed as such and it didn't get popular as such. Forcing players to put hundreds of gut-wrenching hours in doing tedious quests cut out 25% of the player base at least. The official tarkov Discord used to be Poppin and slowly declined in numbers ever since. Good luck getting a game with anybody outside of popular hours.
it's fascinating to see Tarkov's differences from years ago. I started playing in 2020 so I didn't even realize how different this game looked and felt to play.
I'm one of the lucky few who was involved in the Closed Alpha test back in 2016. The game has come a long way since then, and not always in a good way. 2017-2018 were the games best time in my opinion. I have some really old videos of the Closed Alpha on my channel if you are interested. They arent entertaining, but its a time capsule of sorts
Honest to god brother, keep this content coming, you've literally been speaking my thoughts out loud the entire duration of this video. I'm a Marine combat veteran and everything you spoke on is 100% accurate. Tarkov is headed in the wrong direction and I hope that through your influence that BSG makes the necessary changes to put EFT back on track. This is my favorite game of all time and to hear your thoughts on these things gives me a glimmer of hope for Tarkov's future, thank you man, you're awesome.
I'm only five minutes in, but I just gotta say that I've felt this way for so long, and have tried to express these feelings to friends and acquaintances i play the game with, and nobody ever felt the same way. It just feels really great to be somewhat validated on that stance/mindset/whatever for once. I think I'm really going to enjoy the rest of the video, especially because Veritas always does a great job explaining things in ways that everyone on whatever side of the argument can appreciate what he's saying without ever feeling offended (he understands everyones' opinions and point of view, and carefully caters to everyone, but not in an insecure "I'm just trying not to get cancelled" kind of a way, but because he's genuine about respecting each perspective).
holy shit veritas this is PRECISELY how i've felt for the last year or two , and you just perfectly encapsulated it into a 40 minute video, im so happy this is getting major outreach and people are seeing it, hope this opens up bsg and maybe some of the community's eyes. Banger video
I had really forgotten what it was like back then, how I sank countless hours into the game and that would be the only game I would play. I'd get home from work or school and boot up Tarkov immediately, never understanding what I really had. It was around that time I started watching your content and got super invested, it was truly exciting. Now, I can barely play the game for 30 minutes to an hour, this video was one of the biggest nostalgia hits ever. Thank you as always, V.
Same for me. . It was so much fun back then. The pvp felt so rewarding. I started to play less and less the more time went on. Something changed until the game just wasnt fun anymore
soo i did... i mean, i play the first time before it gona shitty, and i never touch it again since 2 wipes ago where i play little and felt really odd... then i back this wipe just to try and was the longest i get in the game, but is not that fun, i almost only die even for scavs that get me from nowhere, pure florest around me on woods and still they got me behind trees is ridicoulous... players kill me on one single shot, i stopped using armour because they not matter anymore, only if you use armour 4 or better, and no matters the weapon i got, i have only the shitty ammo to use, the game become a job and i'am done, if it not change, i not sure if i will get some far in this... i hate flea under level, why? and why i need soo much levelling and loyalty to get my shitty done in hideout? i mean, i love the game idea and the old days is what keep on my mind, where i have no time to play still got more than 10 levels in few time and have fun the entire time, now i'am playing for more than a month and got 15 just yeasterday, have loot as hell playing as scav but not use one due to leak of "good" bullets, try any real life bullets and for sure punch holes in the enemie is better than use the right bullet, more holes more blood is running out, more blood out get a point where the person die, hole size matter, but you need to hit it, armour really works, and rarely get fucked up to pure pass the bullet in a single time to the armour not work more, need a lot of bullets and just stronger and more powerfull bullets pass easier the armour... or same spot accuracy... i love the game idea, not the game right now
I'm grateful I could experience 0.11 and 0.12, with all the changes made to the game I haven't played in over two years. Each wipe I try to come back and I just can't
You hit the nail on the head with this one. Sadly I think the devs will never care to improve the game in the way that the community actually wants it to be
What is "community"? Many people like the game the way it is now. Whose opinion is more valuable? I watched 3/4 of the video and I don't see an answer on how to "fix" the current situation. I get the frustration, but to every mechanic of Tarkov I clearly remember how we got here and why these mechanics were implemented. To "correct" them you would need to almost completely redo the whole fighting mechanics. Maybe it's worth a try, but I don't see a clear path.
Perhaps my comment was written with not enough thought. I do think the Devs care about the game itself (as seen over the last years) but I have to say that current changes are not really orientated towards the community (at least from what I saw, people might disagree with me but from what I read, most people dont enjoy current changes). Of course they dont have to do everything the community asks them for but Im really in fear of this games health.
The way community wants it is just another CoD/PUBG/R6 Siege pretty much from what I've seen on reddit for most part and I honestly hope Nikita won't give up his vision for what the community wants, yeah Tarkov has issues currently and a dozen of them but I also believe it's because most of the stuff is still in development/tweaking stage and there are other more important priorities, maybe more technical ones that we don't really notice that much.
It took sowr3cked making a video and getting a petition signed by thousands of people for Jagex to realize they went down the wrong path with their game. I am full copium mode hoping bsg can have a similar awakening. One quote from back then when we got the 2007scape poll is "its not our fault they got it right the first time" and I think that resonates heavily with what bsg has been doing with tarkov. They achieved something so special very early on and have tried building on top of that to the extent that they've made their game objectively less enjoyable to play. I pray that they can scrounge up the tiny amount of humility required to admit that a few steps backward are what's required for tarkov to be back on the right path.
I feel like there's a handful of popular games that made this same mistake. They struck gold and somehow overthought it by changing the formula of what made their games the best. Some of them reverted, but some companies stand firm with their changes and pay the ultimate price. I really hope BSG at least consider making adjustments.
The move backwards really isnt as extreme in this game as it is with many others IMO. The core of the game is still the same, and its what makes the game fun
@@turkishjedi2195 Veritas constantly brings that up. Gun recoil isn't a hard coded factor, reduce the numbers. Scav accuracy isn't a hard coded factor, reduce the numbers Movement speed isn't a hard coded factore, increase the numbers. Literally the only thing keeping the game as it is now BSG, and BSG worshippers being delusional.
@@turkishjedi2195 that's a really good point. It really is just individual values adjusted to simulate something the game didn't need at all. It's like they tried to take a step towards ultra realism but ended up only making their game feel slow and unresponsive
I've been playing this game since its inception. I stopped playing it a long time ago, because I stopped enjoying the game, and more and more I felt that nothing depended on me. I am very glad that a person like you spoke in the direction of this project. I really hope that someday I will be able to enter Tarkov and get the same positive emotions as in the first years of the project’s life
thankyou for this. all I want is that old feeling of the "adrenaline" of getting hit and using pain meds to stay in the fight until you could get away or win
Especially that gear part got me. I started 2 weeks into the wipe. After a handful of deaths of 1 to 2 tap into the chest through class 3 and 4, I just went back to the paca. Realistically, the only application for armor and helmets nowadays is against scavs, players will usually pen anything under class 5 pretty much instantly. Might as well save some money on armor and gear and invest in good ammo, that's what it feels like, at least for me.
Exactly why relying on what you see as "realism" for development is a terrible idea. Realism shouldn't be the arbiter for gameplay because not only is it impossible to pin down (Tarkov misses the mark hugely on recoil as shown in this video), it leads to bad gameplay decisions. IRL body armor will take a single full rifle caliber bullet, two if you are lucky, and helmets are only now getting to the point they can take a rifle bullet. But in a game based on the risk/reward of what you bring, it should obviously be more useful to justify the cost in economy and risk.
I don't even play tarkov anymore but your video essays are always fun to watch. Keep it up dude, hopefully you'll get Nikita and the dev team to stir the ship in the right direction
I started in 12.11, best gaming experience I've ever had. I had never been so immersed and so excited to progress. Nowadays it feels like I'm fighting the game more than playing it. I wholeheartedly agree that this game could be truly one of the greats if it reverted some of the changes you discussed (inertia, recoil, and pace). It's a rush to have fun now.
Yeah I feel like instead of fighting other people you're fighting the game mechanics and that's the biggest drawback. I started 6 wipes ago and I've never had more fun in a game in my life. Until Nikita brings inertia, weight, recoil changes and completely trashed the game. Instead of rewarding people you get punished. It's a complete joke
PVP was insane back then, the game became extremely boring when they add the inertia and avatar cant even do a simple quick peak in the corner, the story says that the character was based on super soldier that is being deployed in the battle field, but cant run a 1 min sprint or even manage weight when peeking.
real life: a bullet hits a pmc, adrenalin rushes in, he does not feel pain and gets like a samina and strength boost Tarkov: a bullet hits a pmc, he looses all his strenghts + stamine and he loses his will to live, he crawls across the floor at 2 miles an hour LMAO
This Video is a heart to heart and hits very close to my own thoughts as a Tarkov vet. I have 6k hours in the game, started playing in May2020's wipe and still think this was the best state Tarkov was ever in. PVP was fast paced, fun and adrenaline packed back then and the overall gameplay experience was simply better compared to today. As realistic as a game wants to be, we all have to acknowledge that we are still playing a game. Realistic elements are totally fine as long as they won't stop the game from being fun to play. With the Inertia, Stamina-, Recoil- and the restrictive Flea Market overhaul the game feels slow, unappealing, way off track to what Nikita envisions and shows in his Raid Series and leaves new players and players that might not want to spend time doing quests totally behind. Back in the day it did not even matter for players to do the quests. Obviously you had advantages doing them, but at the same time they could just go farming and keep spending their roubles on the fleamarket. Right now, aside from the questers, noone has access to high tier stuff, since it is simply banned from the flea. This also results in taking a lot of freedom and influence away from a player driven economy and accessible free market. Being good in Tarkov consists not only about being good at shooters in general, but also being good in understanding how every aspect of the game works. This includes basic fps combat knowledge, movement, skill based mechanics, market, management, analysis and a lot of sweat. In all facets the game has to offer. I vaguely remember BSGs statement about the flea market restrictions when they were first put in place. To close the gab between the casual and hardcore players by not making high tier ammo and gear available early in the wipe. However for the hardcore tarkov player nothing changed. We still grind to 42 in less than a week and have all traders maxed out while the casual player needs ages and -due to that change- will take way longer or never get access to high tier ammo and gear. Before the change, even though expensive, they could still rival a hardcore player if they invested enough time and roubles. (just one of many examples) Thanks for the awesome video! I cannot agree to you more since I feel you took every single word right out of my mouth and made an awesome video about it! Keep going forward strong! Free our movement. (back to the old movement) Free our guns. (back to the old recoil and semi auto cps) Free our flea market. (back to the old player driven freely accessible market) Leave everything else in the game as it is, and we're closer to the raid series than ever while still having realistic elements in the game and having fun playing!
Duuude. This is EXACTLY RIGHT with the market comments. I've come back from a LONG break about half way through last wipe, and I was able to run decent enough stuff by the end of the wipe - even though the ammo was mostly locked off, most of the weapon parts and mid-high level armour was still accessible if I remember correctly. Just not the TOP tier stuff. Then, I got into this wipe and by literally day 3 I saw someone who was like fucking level 35, and I'm here at level 4 or 5 because I'm too tired of the game to play that much, and I feel like I'm ALREADY behind literally 3 days into wipe. I'm dying wearing my best gear - M4 and Ghzel - in like 2 shots and I go "what?" And the dude killed me with M856@1! Less than a week into wipe! I feel like the sweats are sweatier and higher level than ever. I remember tuning into LVNDMARK's steam like a year or two ago and going "WHAT!? HE'S LEVEL 35!? at like a week and a half into wipe. And that was impressive for the most part back then. But now it's like everybody and their grandmother's sideboard is level 60 by the first month. I can't compete. I'm a very experienced player, and sure, I'm not used to a lot of the newer mechanics and the new maps, and I'm overall rusty, but I just couldn't compete with that without making it a fucking job. All the flea changes have done is widen the gap between the casuals and the giga-sweats. I mean, how TF would it close that gap? Who TF is selling top-tier ammo other than the guys crafting it? And who can craft that shit other that the higher level players? I just booted up tarkov, went to factory 15. About 12 level 40+, and 3 or 4 level 50+. There is literally ONE DUDE between the levels of 20 and 40. One guy at 28. Everyone else is 40+ or LESS THAN 20. These dudes are FARMING these level 2 players. It's a SEA of teens dude. No-one over 20. There are currently 2 PEOPLE under the level of 25 in the lighthouse lobby. Everyone else is 39+. This shit is cancer man. The players who joined last wipe, or the wipe before when tarkov got really big, they still have the energy and passion for the game to GRIND out shit as if they have nothing else to do. So now, guys like this level 58 here are just unreasonably far ahead of anyone else with a life, lacking grass allergies. So he's just writing his eulogies, packing the lobby with dads working 9-5 who don't know why the guys they're trying to defeat and compete with are 30 levels ahead of them, why all of their gear is irrelevant, and their effort seems in vain despite all the lessons and pain they went through trying to just get that directors office room key, to get that package to factory, trying to plant it only for the Level 40 'tism Tony to come hunting them down instead of just letting them live and get out. It just feels shit to not put 70 hours a week into the game.
While I'm a very new player and never experienced anything before the current wipe, I still agree with lots of this stuff. I like the realism this game provides but some times it feels that it tried to be "too real" to the point that it feels like I'm controlling a toddler with 4 missing limbs instead of a highly training PMC - in turn breaking the "realism" and immersion feel of the game.
:') watching face cam of PMC on both side in Ukraine war i feel like we are peasant soldier training in 2 days and being thrown into war zone then a true PMC with high skill .
You talked about some good points. The reason i stopped playing is I can't dedicate the time needed to actually have fun. In order to get good gear, you have to spend hours and hours grinding, and I just can't dedicate the time needed. Definitely miss the old tarkov and wish things would change. Great video! Very well put together and very respectful. I hope battlestate games will see this and take it into consideration. Its sad to see a lot of the OG people losing their love for the game due to the direction its heading right now. We all support you no matter what. You make great content no matter what. Play what makes you happy and you enjoy playing, i will always be a fan and supporter.
Having finished the video I have to say another comment and that is I have always appreciated your content and the value you bring and brought to this community. I am extremely thankful for the things you have shown us in the past like audio and science. Without you we would be a lesser community as a whole. Even if anyone doesn't want to admit it you have acted like a dev outside of the payroll for the company and I for one appreciate now and then what you did and do for this game and your community and your RUclips and Twitch channel. I hope you have much success and happiness in your future thanks for everything.
This video made me realize how much I miss pre 12.12 Tarkov. Great video Veritas, keep up the good work, I think this was very eye opening for new and old players alike.
Stellar insight as usual, you have an excellent ability to communicate logic in your content. Agree with everything said, for me whats sad is that it's just not fun to play EFT anymore - that remark about respecting our time hits home hard. I've been holding on and keeping an eye on things in the hope that the team manage to figure it out. There's just no other game like it, would be a real shame for it to fall apart.
Being able to move after being shot would be such a game changer especially for the solo experience. I could actually have a chance to pin point where I’m getting shot from and possibly have a chance to fight back. Tarkov needs this for sure.
I think in order to realistically recreate any sort of combat situation to the extent EFT wants to, there needs to be a third slider - adrenaline. Like Veritas said, it doesn't matter if your character is tired, thirsty, hungry, etc., they are a trained combatant, in a combat environment, and guess what happens when you start taking fire? Your mind, as soon as it realizes what is happening, releases an incredible amount of adrenaline, BECAUSE YOU GOT TO MOVE OR DIE. Until we see a representation of your character's current adrenaline level that ties into all the systems, we just wont get there. Delaying your character's recoil control is NOT the answer. Don't even get me started on bushes. You walk into a bush, and it doesn't slow down your momentum. No. It just DROPS your movement speed as if your character somehow all of a sudden forgot how to walk fast because branches. The blind fire... USELESS. Might as well just cut it out to free up controls. The fact that you have to WAIT for your character to STOP MOVING before you can press the key (otherwise it just wont work, you have to let it go, then press it again) is just dumb.
I've wanted the adrenaline system to be implemented since I started in 2020, because its realistic. Sure, in real life combat you or I could be cowering of fear and pissing our own pants by immobilization, but we're playing a game - virtual reality. My fight or flight instinct will always choose fight. I dont think the blind fire function is useless, even had good fights with it this wipe, but I want to be able to control my character while doing so.
If they reversed the Stamina Burn on taking a Hit to Give Stamina rather than take it, That'd probably be the easiest and quickest implimentation of Adrenaline. You're getting hit and need to move to cover? Here's some Stamina, RUN. That right there might be the quickest fix and then take some tweaking to it, like an adrenaline bar that gets depleted as you take damage to feed into leg stamina, but you can only get as much as the adrenaline bar has to give when you take damage. Have 50 adrenaline, 0 Stamina, take 20 points of damage, gain 20 Stamina, adrenaline is dropped to 30, it can recoperate over time, given meds, stamina, food and drink. whatever they think of. That Max Energy drink might have an aditional use or that adrenaline stim.
But in the clip Vertias used as evidence, it showed that it doesn't work that way. The guy was describing how he had to carry this other guy who "thought he was dying" and was completely out of the fight. Are there cases where someone gets shot and goes super hero, absolutely. Is that normal, I don't think so. I'm not a soldier so I certainly don't know from personal experience, but I don't think that is a normal reaction to getting shot.
@@GoodDodge This is a good idea, plus I think you should have run speed increased when being shot at, not decreased. When I'm being shot at, you bet your ass I'm gonna be booking it as fast as possible.
We were considering getting into it with a group of friends. We thought that we were in for some actual realistic and tactical gameplay. Thank you for the review and your comparisons with actual real footage.
It can be, but its rough around the edges. Out of nowhere, they just updated tarkov 30 minutes ago with changes seemingly inspired by this video. Reduction to stamina lost on hit, overweight threshold, armor movement penalties, stamina loss across the entire board, and most importantly, recoil. I wouldn't say drop everything and play, but keep an eye on it for a while. See if the latency on streets gets better, the audio issues, and of course the combat which likely will need more tuning. But this is an out of the blue miracle, and more may come.
For real , especially about bsg not respecting our time . Play a 30 min raid to get head eyes through a bush by a scav . And even if you see him good luck spraying him . Better use semi . Back to rust for a bit .
This wipe is my first wipe and from the 100 hours that I've put into this game so far I'd have to say I am astounded that there were so many things removed that I thought would have made the game way more interesting and always question why my friends teaching me the game never use certain aspects of the game like blindfiring. I hope it continues to get better and I'm glad they finally fixed the covert movement that should have never been broken in the first place. I'm glad the recoil patch helped so much bc learning to aim as a new player felt impossible to control full auto fire bc of how much recoil my supposed "operator" receives when we know that's not how firearms work.
Your back to back comparisons of tarkov gameplay and mw2 gameplay was absolutely brilliant and very entertaining. There are so many aspects to cod that are far more realistic than what tarkov offers.
Realism in a game isn't exactly good, ngl cod still an incredibly boring game to play. I agree with papa V but there's a reason we really don't like cod. There's 0 risk/reward so nothing feels like it matters that gets you immersed or care about living/winning so the entire game is just the same damn repetitive arena shooter we've been playing for 20 years.
i feel this so hard never played tarkov before so this is my first wipe started 30 days in and immediately knew as a security armed guard myself that i can out preform my PMC i can outshoot outrun and endure more (accidently shot myself in the leg in my off time once lol) what rlly stuck with me was when i found a t6 armor that i took to dorms so i could finish one of the 3000 quests there and got instakilled made me realize that armor is legit worthless to the point that what i do most often now in no armor no helm factory runs because then at least im playing R6 without the toxicity
Wow, those opening points are so accurate. I tried out MWII on the end of last wipe (as my first entry to cod series) and was bewildered how good weapons handle and how smooth the game is in general. I realised how much I miss old recoil in tarkov, 'easier' weapon handling does not rule out hardcore gameplay and I have no idea how people can defend it in its current state. The MP5 footage in the montage unlocked a lot of memories, I miss the days when MP5SD was great. I've been playing on and off ever since before Reserve came out and recently been having more and more trouble enjoying my favorite game.
Funny enough, quite a few points Veritas made in this video were just addressed by BSG with the latest hotfix to recoil, stam drain, and character weight limit.... can't help but feel like Nikita saw this video and felt some kind of way. The clips in factory where you were diving to the ground with intention, quick and impactful without being cartoonish, and blindfiring while trapped in a proned spot of cover --- really makes you realize what we had.
I find it hard to understand how anyone can take issue with what you're doing. Well done for keeping these debates alive and enduring the flack you receive in the process. You're discussions/investigations are doing wonders for the health of this brilliant game and I applaud you! Thanks and respect.
Long time lurker, this is exactly how I feel about the game as well. Also you could add a whole chapter on the changes we have seen to ammo etc this wipe alone. The feel of tarkov changes every year it seems but Nikita always says it's in pursuit of his vision.
Thank you
Loce you bro
Good jobb. At least someone had the balls to say the truth
So awesome to see it turn around today. Thanks for this video and helping us voice our collective concern.
Will you leave this video up? Many new players will be confused if this video has a million views in a couple weeks. They may avoid the game if they don't understand how fast BSG updated things
Tarkov feels like a full time job made for streamers rather than fans.
People were playing games for 8+ hours even before streamers?
Trust me, it's not even made for us.
Yes.
except is not. your just bad at it so it feels that way
Aye, i have been playing since launch and game was at its best imo when streamers strarted playing, after that it just got worst and worst.
This is exactly it.
@@void8656 You do level up these skills by performing them. Just takes a while.

@@oscaranderson5719 this is a bad take from you, tarkov has no ammo count and you simply have to remember how much ammo is in your mags and you get a feel for when you are about to empty, an ammo counter is the least important part of a hud. i could turn that shit off in cod and it wouldnt matter

3 years ago is about when I completely lost faith in BSG. This wipe is just a culmination of their poor management. Glad that Veritas, the guy I respect a lot, has a similar vision.

I got enough sooner. no need to suffer.
fps game but your character has jello arms

I feel like Tarkov hit a sweet spot at the release of Labs after the healing animations and single round loading were added that I miss for sure.

Funny enough look at their story on Instagram
Check their twitter, they just changed everything

Yeah, I love when the dumbasses say, "we don't want unrealistic recoil like COD". Bitch, *the Call of Duty recoil IS more realistic!*
even if they decided to cross ...if they have armor that works they might make it and be able to engage again. the overall flow of the fights are not as fun right now.
Dude, the end of the video is like 3 exclamation marks to your argument!
@@ktg_2castle960 It's not Nikita making the changes anymore. He's working on his own single player game now. I think he abandoned Tarkov
@@ggwp1847 shit for real? Well all the more reason this lift become a game not for us tbh. I have a feeling Tarkov is in a death spiral depending on who you ask
It is so good to know that with the 0.14 patch I truly think that tarkov has taken this feedback and the game has truly improved it.
IS WITTLE BABY TIWRED AWWWW POOR BABY, MOVE YOR FUCKING ASS”
Yea, I did lose my cool like this before.
@@BloodyElbow707 exactly, ripping chads off their gear and sell it on the flea was such a great feeling lol, I miss that.
Thank you yet again veritas for being the voice so many of us just simply dont have. you litterally said what i think most of us feel
it's fascinating to see Tarkov's differences from years ago.
They arent entertaining, but its a time capsule of sorts
yeah its shit now
They've broken more than they've fixed, and all their "realism" adds are mostly just like Veritas says; annoying and unecessary.
Same joined last year.
@Andrew Sullivan you’re kidding me right? COD will never table EFT. Good lord… especially if they keep these fixed up.
Exactly how I feel
Same here man
holy shit veritas this is PRECISELY how i've felt for the last year or two , and you just perfectly encapsulated it into a 40 minute video, im so happy this is getting major outreach and people are seeing it, hope this opens up bsg and maybe some of the community's eyes.
Me too man. Me too.
Same for me. . It was so much fun back then. The pvp felt so rewarding. I started to play less and less the more time went on. Something changed until the game just wasnt fun anymore
I was lucky enough to play a little bit of Tarkov in those days, and love the hell out of it. It just cannot hold my attention anymore. Great video.
soo i did... i mean, i play the first time before it gona shitty, and i never touch it again since 2 wipes ago where i play little and felt really odd... then i back this wipe just to try and was the longest i get in the game, but is not that fun, i almost only die even for scavs that get me from nowhere, pure florest around me on woods and still they got me behind trees is ridicoulous... players kill me on one single shot, i stopped using armour because they not matter anymore, only if you use armour 4 or better, and no matters the weapon i got, i have only the shitty ammo to use, the game become a job and i'am done, if it not change, i not sure if i will get some far in this... i hate flea under level, why? and why i need soo much levelling and loyalty to get my shitty done in hideout? i mean, i love the game idea and the old days is what keep on my mind, where i have no time to play still got more than 10 levels in few time and have fun the entire time, now i'am playing for more than a month and got 15 just yeasterday, have loot as hell playing as scav but not use one due to leak of "good" bullets, try any real life bullets and for sure punch holes in the enemie is better than use the right bullet, more holes more blood is running out, more blood out get a point where the person die, hole size matter, but you need to hit it, armour really works, and rarely get fucked up to pure pass the bullet in a single time to the armour not work more, need a lot of bullets and just stronger and more powerfull bullets pass easier the armour... or same spot accuracy... i love the game idea, not the game right now
I'm grateful I could experience 0.11 and 0.12, with all the changes made to the game I haven't played in over two years. Each wipe I try to come back and I just can't
You hit the nail on the head with this one. Sadly I think the devs will never care to improve the game in the way that the community actually wants it to be
Nikita cares. It's obvious every time I speak with him. Whether he 'gets it' and agrees is a different story. We'll see?
@@VeritasGames Yes we'll see. Game is wip anyways.
@@xRyannn the inability to move backwards because of the delusion that constantly moving forward is the only way to achieve a goal
The move backwards really isnt as extreme in this game as it is with many others IMO. The core of the game is still the same, and its what makes the game fun
@@turkishjedi2195 Veritas constantly brings that up.
Gun recoil isn't a hard coded factor, reduce the numbers.
Scav accuracy isn't a hard coded factor, reduce the numbers
Movement speed isn't a hard coded factore, increase the numbers.
Literally the only thing keeping the game as it is now BSG, and BSG worshippers being delusional.
@@turkishjedi2195 that's a really good point. It really is just individual values adjusted to simulate something the game didn't need at all. It's like they tried to take a step towards ultra realism but ended up only making their game feel slow and unresponsive

thankyou for this. all I want is that old feeling of the "adrenaline" of getting hit and using pain meds to stay in the fight until you could get away or win
Not to mention the movement used to be more fluent and realistic.. now it's not realistic lol, so the jokes on him... he just made it clunky and fake
Couldn't agree more
PVP was insane back then, the game became extremely boring when they add the inertia and avatar cant even do a simple quick peak in the corner, the story says that the character was based on super soldier that is being deployed in the battle field, but cant run a 1 min sprint or even manage weight when peeking.
Same start patch and feeling here.
real life: a bullet hits a pmc, adrenalin rushes in, he does not feel pain and gets like a samina and strength boost
Tarkov: a bullet hits a pmc, he looses all his strenghts + stamine and he loses his will to live, he crawls across the floor at 2 miles an hour
LMAO
(just one of many examples)
Thanks for the awesome video! I cannot agree to you more since I feel you took every single word right out of my mouth and made an awesome video about it! Keep going forward strong!
Free our movement. (back to the old movement)
Free our guns. (back to the old recoil and semi auto cps)
Free our flea market. (back to the old player driven freely accessible market)
Leave everything else in the game as it is, and we're closer to the raid series than ever while still having realistic elements in the game and having fun playing!
You make great content no matter what. the circlejerk about muh hardcore realism became so real that it did a full circle and now its unrealistic.

Thank you very much for the kind words!
I really have no idea how they broke blindfire but they did XD never cease to amaze
I didn’t really realize how much Tarkov has gone the wrong direction until you gave me and glimpse of the glory days. Man I miss peak Tarkov
You did it, EFT changed some of things you mentioned! Cheers man!
I just watched the video, saw your comment, checked the new update and cried from joy. Veritas is a legend.
So much to agree on in this video! My tarkov spirit has just died more and more with every wipe for a reason
Your back to back comparisons of tarkov gameplay and mw2 gameplay was absolutely brilliant and very entertaining. There are so many aspects to cod that are far more realistic than what tarkov offers.
I know I personally have been trash talking COD for the last handful of years but damn, the current versions of COD are looking really good.
Tbh I thank you, Trey, Klean and everyone else trying so hard to get this out there.
Keep it up V! I always appreciate your thoughtful and considered arguments. I think more people like them than ever say. Cant wait for some KSP2 vids!
Finally, I've been waiting for this video! :D
Thank you Veritas, for always putting so much time and effort into your content!
Long time lurker, this is exactly how I feel about the game as well.
Also you could add a whole chapter on the changes we have seen to ammo etc this wipe alone. The feel of tarkov changes every year it seems but Nikita always says it's in pursuit of his vision.
Looking back on this video after 11 months I am so happy they pretty much fixed a lot of these issues that you talk out
