Thank you for this review. I'm running a modified 14' StarCraft deep V that I use primarily to walleye fish in Saginaw Bay, MI. Think I'm going with the footpedal model for my setup after watching this.
No problem and im glad it helped. Spot lock was the contributing factor to me choosing this one. You can get it with co pilot and have a foot pedal. Just lose the spotlock feature
All in all its been a great motor. It just has some design flaws that i think need addressed. I just sold it and ordered another motor so ill go over some of that in a video coming up shortly
Thanks for the sub by the way! I really appreciate it. I need to get to 1000 so anyone you can share this with would be appreciated and if theres something in particular you would like to see or want covered just let me know and ill do it!
@@9ToesFishing I Have a question about the ipilot. What happens if the I pilot is following its instructions (spot lock/ or on a recorded track for example) and during this time the remote becomes out of range? Does the motor stop because it's lost contact with the remote? Or continue on with what it was doing?
@@000distructzero this is a tough one because theorically if it loses connection it would stop. I say this sparingly because I used to have a Ulterra with self deploy and I would back it off the trailer deploy the trolling motor from the truck, hit spotlock and drive away to park and it would remain spotlocked.
There’s a free app from Minn Kota you can install on your phone that will allow you to still use the basic functions of the trolling motor via Bluetooth. It’s pretty handy to have if something happens to the remote.
The PD are good for their price point. The foot pedal I dont miss, but you can have a foot pedal, swap out the main board for a terrova board 250$. The board is different in PD vs the upper ulterra and terrovas to save cost. Yah the collar is weak point, but I am on third PD never had issues with em. Way I look at you need a weak point somewhere. If it's jammed a plastic collar snapping is easier than stripping the gears inside the unit, Or as you said fix the design to use a small sheer or cotter pin that snaps instead.
I’m not a fan of reviews like this. It just seems like you wanted a different trolling motor from the beginning and are now complaining about it. Also what was the accident and did it affect the rest of the trolling motor, is that why you have had problems with the collar? Who knows, and no video of using it
Its actually a pretty well known design flaw and i certainly am not complaining about it for no reason. Im not sure what you are referencing about an accident but the motor wasnt ever in one. I used it for a year and this is a 100% honest review of it. Its really not great for bassfisherman. Bery inconvienient
Listen man in the end its purely my opinion after using it for a year. There ate several videos on my channel of me using it, just not talking about it directly. Did i want a different motor originally? You bet, but it didnt influence my thoughts on this one. Im not a shallow person like that. In the end i stayed with Minn Kota and got an Ultrex and thus far its a remarkable motor. Ill make sure i take your advice and film using it while talking about it and do another review after a year of use. Thanks for you opinion and insight. I can do things better in the future because of it
I went back and watched it again to see about the accident and now i see what you are saying. No the accident had nothing to do with it. Those are all new parts and they broke again after 3 months. They just need to take a page out of motorguides book on the design of that collar. I thought the review after watching it again was good and fair!
A real help to a new customer😊
Looking to buy one for my Sun Tracker 18DLX pontoon boat. Thanks for the review. Really helped me out. Good luck on your next one.

I never had a problem with power drive, that being said I did go to a terrova i-pilot and far as the foot control I don't miss it!

I had a power drive and hated the stow and deploy. Had to go back to the standard Ultrex type mount. The spotlock on the Ultrex is awesome.
Thats the only good thing about the powerdrive, the spotlock, the rest is pretty much terrible :)

Thanks! I have an older powerdrive v2 that I've retro fitted with the ipilot upgrade kit..
Looking forward to trying it out in the spring.
No worries, glad I could help! I need to get my butt in gear and post more videos :) Work had been taking so much of my time!

Cool thanks. I’m just about to order one. Watching videos to make sure I’m making the right decision
Totally get it and I appreciate you checking it out!
So, you already have a motor on the boat, but you add a second motor?
You can put one on it. Just can't use it and the remote at the same time. I have one.
Great Video! I’m not a fan of no FOOT pedal either. What happens if hand control craps out? You are left with a useless piece of equipment

Great points man i appreciate it!
Cool video, Thanks!!
Ultex with spot lock. I've been thinking about going to Garmin
I wouldnt trade my garmin units for anything. I really like them
@@9ToesFishing I run Garmin's too. I have livescope. I need bigger screens getting old lol
I was talking about the Garmin force trolling motor
Cool video bud... It would be weird not using a foot pedal
I got used to it this year and got really good with just the remote but it wasnt my favorite :)
Did u make the launch video
Yeah
@@9ToesFishing can u link it
Your talking the one where I launched with auto deploy correct?
@@9ToesFishing yes
I love mine and can live without the foot pedal
Yeah i get it. I think its all about personal preference. As a competetive fisherman keeping my hands free is pretty important.
good review
I appreciate it
Is it for sale
It was but I sold it a couple days after I listed it.
do you want to sell it
Its already sold man.
