I love this. Grew up on Treme St. 1000 block. Played in the park or St Augustine church yard till the street lights came on. My family still own the property there. My nanny just passed in February. I’m in Illinois now. Ty for the tour.
Robi seems so much more relaxed in this video. From the very first one of these videos I watched I wanted Andrew as a tour guide, now I want both of them. I don't even care what part of the city we tour, I just enjoyed their chemistry together. We are heading to New Orleans in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to get there! That was FANTASTIC! When I visited New Orleans, some years ago, I really didn't see much more than the French Quarter and the Garden District, so I really appreciated this visit to the Tremé and learning about what a wonderfully rich and culturally important neighborhood it is. I really enjoy watching Andrew and Robi walking and talking together and I LOVE that they and James are old friends (Nice to see you James!). These videos popping up in my subscription list literally make me squeal with happiness and I am really looking forward to a food-centric tour as well as a ghost/vampire tour (fingers crossed!). Take care you guys! Sending love from Oregon ❤
Roby, Andrew... thank you, thank you, thank you!! I was not born in New Orleans... hell, I wasn't even born in the US! But i fell in love with New Orleans and moved there in the late 90's, because I learned that it is not where you're born, it is where you belong. Sadly, I moved away in 2000, and ever since then I've been working on making my way back home to my beloved N'awlins. Next time I'm in town for Jazz Fest, I'll look you up! Once again, thank you for making this misplaced New Orleanian's life a bit more bearable. Laissez Le Bon Temp Roulez!
Hi from Trinidad and Tobago. I really want to say your videos are a breath of fresh air. The teaching of the history and religion is really awesome. So much more of this needs to get done to destroy some of the crazy stereotypes especially around african religions. Great job!!!
You are welcome and thanks for watching, Basil! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please do share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
The show Treme was the reason I feel in love with New Orleans, I knew so much about the culture/history and felt such a connection and had never visited. Once I had the opportunity to go I felt like it was such a familiar place as if it was home. This place will forever have a special place in my heart!
I was born in Georgia till I was 12. Then moved to New Jersey, I always wanted to go back to the South. I have been in NC, SC, Florida and New Orleans, I never felt more comfortable till New Orleans, I love it there. Can’t wait to go back. I have seen every video from you guys, I have learned ALOT from your videos,KEEP DOING THEM! I will definitely look you up when I go back!

Love, love, love your channel! I was a business traveler from 2006-2011 and my old stomping grounds was New Orleans. I gained 20 pounds because of the good food! And the men, one word (gentlemen)! My favorite neighborhoods are St. Roch, Gentilly , Mid City and Algiers. I just discovered Edna Karr High school band and they are AWESOME!!!. I hope the travel channel picks up guys up. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
Love it!! We are talking about an Algiers tour and eventually we may get to all of those cities, that is assuming the Travel Channel doesn't steal them away from us :).
Four years ago, in March, I was in a tour group that did the same walk. The airport changed to Louis Armstrong airport on NOLA. Last time I was in New Orleans the airport had another name.
I love NOLA! I ate so yummy when I was there, and people were genuinely friendly. As a New Yorker I felt the culture shock and fell in love. I can't wait to go back!!!!! Thank you guys for telling me the story, even after I was there. I felt the presence at Armstrong park, I felt the energy left behind. It meant every thing to me.
Andrew, all your tours are amazing, and this one especially so! Robi adds greatly, the perfect complement to your scholarly guide. Extra points awarded for mentioning Earl Palmer, the true father of rock drumming as we know it.

Another fantastic video Andrew and Robi! So great- thank you so much. I love the Treme. When I moved back to Toronto after living in NOLA in the 90's, I would talk about the Treme as being so very special but it was so hard to translate. I was so happy when the show came out- made people understand what I had been on about. By the way- I grew up Catholic but don't practice, but when I lived in the Marigny, I would go to St Augustine's for the holidays. At Easter time, on Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, the Pastor rode in on a real donkey. It was awesome. When Katrina hit I was very concerned with the citizens, of course, but I also had a little worried wonder about the church donkey that, rumour had it, was tethered in the Lower 9th. It was a very long time ago...Thanks again guys- keep them coming!
I visited New Orleans last year (loved it!) and I tried to access Louis Armstrong Park from the Treme side. I did notice those long foreboding gates. I was so confused on how to enter the park. I thought it was closed. I thought that was strange.
You're doing a great job! Keep it coming. Louis Armstrong had a home in Chicago on 44th Street! The house is still there. We used to see him sometimes as kids. He would perform at the old ballroom impromptu on 43rd and Calumet Avenue. That ballroom is being restored. Miss Mahalia had a home there too further south and sometimes attended old Progressive Baptist Church. You should see it.
Hoping that the city will fix the gate of Louis Armstrong park on St. Philip that leads to Treme. It would be lovely to see the roses there, at the park as they are there for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you both for this and all your tours. Thank you, especially, for not shying away from the true history and critical analysis. We are coming to NOLA in early April and your tours have been invaluable. Appreciations to Robi and Andrew! As a person visiting any new place, it's so important to me to remember it's a community and to show up with respect, so thank you!

Appreciate the honesty of the video. Would have liked to have you touch on the Storyville aspect of the area (or maybe that's another video). I've been visiting to great city for over 30 years. I was supposed to be there when Katrina hit as I typical visit for Dirty Linen & Red Dress.(@ least) each year. I have never been so sad as when I visited the following year, post-Katrina....
Storyville will be in another video. We are thinking about a series or playlist that focuses more on history. We will also have a live stream for things like Red Dress.

I love this. Grew up on Treme St. 1000 block. Played in the park or St Augustine church yard till the street lights came on. My family still own the property there. My nanny just passed in February. I’m in Illinois now. Ty for the tour.
It's an honor, Tina. Thanks for tuning in.
Kudos on another entertaining and informative video!
How was your visit? Did you get a chance to book with them??
@@sleepqueen1350 Our trip was amazing but unfortunately we ran out of time before we ran out of things to do so we weren't able to catch one of their tours. I'm hoping to try again on a future trip to The Big Easy.
Really enjoyed this one you guys and really love your longstanding friendship and interaction.
Thank you for your channel and all of the useful information. I always wanted to live in New Orleans. The heat and humidity however would not be comfortable for me. I will eventually visit during the winter months this coming year.

Thanks for the compliments Antoine. Keep loving and keep watching .
We love it. We will be publishing the food tour video at some point over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Thank you Robi and Andrew for another great tour!
Thanks again for watching our video, Lori. We are glad that we could refresh your happy memories about our beloved city.
Very informative tour new Orleans 👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks for sharing!! Glad you enjoyed your trip throughout.
Andrew, all your tours are amazing, and this one especially so! Robi adds greatly, the perfect complement to your scholarly guide. Extra points awarded for mentioning Earl Palmer, the true father of rock drumming as we know it.

Ase! Thank you for getting off the porch and telling the truth Cherie! So proud of you and so proud of our Creole Heritage. Remmen Ou!
Thanks again for watching Carol! Also, thanks for sharing this wonderful information.
Hoping that the city will fix the gate of Louis Armstrong park on St. Philip that leads to Treme. It would be lovely to see the roses there, at the park as they are there for everyone to enjoy.
Agreed!
Thank you both for this and all your tours. Thank you, especially, for not shying away from the true history and critical analysis. We are coming to NOLA in early April and your tours have been invaluable. Appreciations to Robi and Andrew!
