After watching most of you all videos, I went back and rewatched the HBO show Tremè and I was kinda proud of myself for knowing all the streets they mentioned lol. Thanks for all of the work you put into your channel. I’ve been to New Orleans every year since 2012.
thankyou for the good side of new Orleans people aways bring up the bad stuff about my city we have more good than bad I'm a musician from the city so tried of people trying to bring our town down i been are around the world nothing like new Orleans thankyou glen j andrews
I always like the city tours best! I know this might sound ignorant, but is it safe for non-african americans generally around some of these neighbourhoods?
I wouldn't walk these areas at night but id say pretty safe during the day. I just did a walking video in faubourg marigny today. Different area yes but i felt very safe.
I agree with John. Most of these neighborhoods are pretty safe during the day. Not so much at night. Treme sees a lot of tourists, and they're usually in groups. A lone sightseer would probably stick out like a sore thumb and might become a target, but it depends on the neighborhood. In the high-crime category, Treme ranks #10 out of 65.
Trans Canada Phil tremé is actually a pretty big neighborhood by New Orleans standards, and the part of it that’s right by the French quarter isn’t dangerous. Further from that it gets a little sketchier, but it’s far from the worst in the city for sure
I (Jason) am born and raised in New Orleans. Kari is from North Dakota, but had family on the Mississippi Coast and relocated there about 10 years ago, and then she moved to New Orleans 7 years ago.
Jimmy Bee that would be Justin Wilson, who was actually from Illinois I believe. He was a friend of my grandfather. His Cajun accent was part of a stage persona, although he did immerse himself in, and embrace the Cajun culture The Cajuns actually come from southwest and central Louisiana, and didn’t originate in New Orleans, although a lot of Cajuns came to New Orleans for job opportunities. But you seldom hear a Cajun accent in New Orleans.
@@jimmybee7966 that accent is very typical. And wrong. I cant watch CSI new Orleans for this reason. Its sad. Everyone in new Orleans lives on the bayou. Its a bad stereotype. That fake accent they uee is awful. I was on a tv show called "big easy" 20 years ago. It was equally awful

Every city has positives and negatives. The negatives about New Orleans tend to be publicized more, so people don't see the postives.
I love the Treme. I’ll be down in January for my birthday.
Thank you for the driving tour. Very informational.
Great Video, Jason!
Ive always wanted to walk on the green space from downtown up to parkway bakery.
I always enjoy watching these videos. One day I hope to visit.I live in Australia. and also have a YT channel.
Great video Jason I remember Dr Funk taking me on a tour of this area years ago
It's an interesting neighborhood. This was the first time I'd driven down some of these streets.
@@504RoadTrips The NOLA area and surrounding areas were all very Interesting to me but it's just so blasted hot down there..lol
at 02:05 are those housing units (Apartments)? They look pretty nice, on video.
Yes, these are the government subsidized mixed-income housing units that have replaced almost all of the old housing projects in New Orleans.
@@504RoadTrips We got SSI or SSDI repients living in the neighborhood as well
@@504RoadTrips The rent cost out there is somewhere in the $600's.
@@patriot4life450 Isn't the rent dependent on the resident's income?
Where St. Augustine? Beautiful video?
St. Aug is in the Seventh Ward, about a mile outside of Treme.
Did Ruth's chris re open on broad after Katrina? I read they bailed on that location but i coulda swore it reopened after K but closed a few years ago
No, it never reopened after Katrina, and the property was donated to some kind of charity. As far as I can tell, the building is empty now.

What about Georgia Land?
I'm not sure what that is.
born and raised off of ursulines and broad...around the corner from john mc
I can't tell where you're from New Orleans, until you say, "New Orleans." I used to think you were from Mississippi.
