A shout-out to your camera person- nice work hiding the distracting hair fixing gal outside of the book shop on Pirate's Alley- it was hard to concentrate until you did that. It was actually great to see her put on the mask- a little public service vignette! Thanks so much- keep these great videos coming. I feel like you are already trying to figure out a Treme tour. Hi, I just started watching your videos on You Tube this year and am hooked! I’m watching this one now and when you mentioned singing vendors in the French Market it reminded me of one trip we took to Nola about 10 years ago. We were leaving The Chateau Hotel packing up our car parked on the street and I started hearing a lady from a short distance singing and repeating “Pie Lady” “PIE LAAAADYYYYY” in a loud but lovely tone. Then she turned the corner onto our street and came towards us as we finished packing up the car. As she approached us with her cart, I asked her what she was doing - she was happy to stop and explained to us that she makes homemade pies and sells them in the streets Sunday mornings throughout the streets of the French Q. Then she said she was carrying on a tradition that her Creole ancestors had done for the past 200 years! Well, as you could imagine, I bought every pie she had left!!! She thanked us and said that we completed her day and she would then go home.
I have tried to do my own research on her to see if she is still around but sadly can not find anything on her. Do you have any information on her? I would love to see a video on her if you do!
OAN, I will be looking y’all up next time we’re in Nola! Y’all are wonderful tour guides and I’ve learned so much about NOLA and surrounding towns!
Keep up the good work & God Bless! 🙏❤️

How the French Quarter was built is the saga of one of history’s bravest women. She invented pre-fabricated section building for her matched apartments on either side of the Cathedral which she had rebuilt after the disastrous fire lof 1788.

I was lucky enough to shoot pool with Paul Newman when they were filming "Blaze" in the French Quarter on St Phillip between Royal and Chartres streets. I was selling roses for Bob Bridges (Bob the Flower Man) and we'd meet at a bar across from the garage where he kept the carts and roses. They were between shoots and Paul walked into the bar, saw the pool table, and asked if anyone had any quarters. The bar owner and then a waitress played a game with him, then I did. He's very good, but I was better (at least on that game, lol). Great memories living and working in the French Quarter in the early '90's. Chicken Man, Ruthie the Ducky Lady were friends of mine. Later got a job at Tony Moran's (above the Old Absinthe Bar) and waited on Frank Sinatra and Red Buttons one night.

Yes! Another great tour! I was so excited to see that it covered film and literary locations (particularly Interview with the Vampire). As always, Andrew shares with us the city's authentic heart which I appreciate to no end! (I totally would've been like that guy who recognized him. We stan a legend!) I would absolutely love to see a video about film/literary locations in the Garden District, as well as a ghost tour. I did google Thelma Toole. She reminded me a little of Katherine Hepburn in "Suddenly Last Summer." I don't think I'll ever pronounce 'literature' the same way again! Thank you!! :D

I have a compliment and a complaint. First the compliment: I did not realize that the Madame Delphine LaLaurie scenes were shot at a simpler style house just down the street, wow. Did not know that. My complaint is you had me so excited with the interview with the Vampire stop at the beginning of the video but I was anticipating (hoping!!) it would be where Louis, Lestatt and Claudia lived. Not a house coffins came out of. All in all I adore you and if I weren't unemployed from Covid I'd tip you like a rock star ❤

Very Cool Vid Andrew ! It's nice to some familiar places ! Suggestion: Perhaps do a real Steamboat history ride with some real Cajun Nawlin's delicacies served aboard the steamboat. I love the steam calliope when it sounds at the port prior and after the ride. I'm sure the viewers would love it and would help promote tourism ! All My Best ! ~ Rick

Hey, thanks very much! At least a large % of Freedom was shot in the Treme - particularly recognizable spots would be Kermit's Treme Mother-in-Law Lounge (the building covered in murals that shows up again and again) and the space under the Claiborne Ave./I-10 overpass (you can see a huge mural of Allen Toussaint in the background of a lot of those shots).

The absolute best thing about CofD? It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981! AND was so deserving, you can not put it down and I promise you will come THAT close to peeing your pants, choking on your own spit, falling out of your chair, and just generally having the time of your life tween the pages of a book. How anyone with a tenth of a brain could have passed on this book is stunning. THANK YOU THELMA!! Hi Lisa. There are many vampire tours available in New Orleans. Most include Anne Rice stories and or homes. I don't believe there is a regularly scheduled tour devoted to Anne Rice.
