The question is : What can't Reaper do? The most customizable, simple on the surface but super deep, comprehensive and most professional DAW, i have ever used. You can make this DAW to do pretty much anything you want, with audio, and soon probably with video too, who knows. Now you can even replace sounds, just like that. No need to convert audio to MIDI anymore, or use plugins etc, unless it is your style. Reaper has not stagnated at all, it is still pushing forward. Amazing 🤘
Absolute more dynamic kicks, this is worth trying, sometimes I have projects where kicks are so poor, but they use different kicks to mix in. With all the disadvantages, you get. Phase and other problems. This is very useful, thanks Kenny, you just made my day. Also the snare is ringing a lot in the original, so this way is great to get rid of those. Or keep it and mix in with the sample. I consider this one of the most useful video's, for me. A lot of others are also great, but this is where my world will change. I used before the SPL drumexanger, but this is way more powerful. Amazing!
Love your work brother. You help me so much on my albums! The narration video got me through. And now this to help w better replacement sampling on my drums. Can’t wait to tinker w this. Thank you and Gods blessings over you
I find it is easier to just drop in a ReaGate and ReaSamplematic5000. From there just have ReaGate trigger a MIDI note. You can even record the MIDI to a new take if you want.
a really good trick. I would never have thought of that in 100 years. Instead, I might have bought a plugin for expensive money that doesn't even come close to the performance of the trick you presented in this video. 👍🤗
I wish dynamic split items was a bit easier to handle on Reaper but I had no idea I could just replace items like that... awesome, already planning a custom action to make it instantly!
But here’s my question, if we use reaper for our live mix at church how would we be able to layer samples on kick and snare without having to use triggers?
So I’m having issues.. once I click dynamic split, everything works but some of the hits get duplicated so it sounds like it’s glitching out. Also, not all of the transients are being split.. some are getting missed. Any advice on how to fix that?

Oh my! Thanks Kenny I've eaten so much time creating midi spikes (could you do a video on this topic please?) And using sampleomatic after. Your method is more efficient!
Not mentioned in the video, but this technique results in the new samples not having any of the dynamics of the original drum performance. This is probably most noticeable with snare, especially if there are any ghost notes, crescendoing fills, etc. It basically has a compression effect on the drums, with the ratio of the original sample to the new ones determining how much compression there is. All new drums = maximum compression. For some genres, this doesn't matter or is even desirable. For others, you will lose some of the feel of the original performance. Of course you can manually fix it with item volumes if you want to take the time.
It would have been nice to do a volume leveled comparison rather than just adding to the volume with the samples. Everything always sounds better when louder!

It can't make breakfast yet. and this is disappointing .
@@eegoal if you have smart devices at home you can tell coffe machine to make coffe from reaper.
Mhen.. thanks Kenny. This is top notch! This has saved me a buck or two! God bless you sir.
This is a banger. Makes some certain plugins redundant saving a big buck. Thanks again, Kenny!
Brilliant content as usual. Thanks for always showing all steps involved! I'll definitely apply this when needed

Great mix! This is how it's done. Amazing, concise, clear. Nice job zooming in on the menu items. Just totally pro video.
As always writing a comment to support the channel

I'm trying to clean up my band drum track recordings from the 90's and this was very helpful!! Thank you for sharing👍👍🥁
Awesome tutorial Kenny. Thanks for this lesson, cheers from Brazil.

You should try ReaSamplematic5000. It's 3000 more. :)

I've learned so much from your tutorials! I appreciate what you do and the clarity with which you explain things!

Great video, wandering how it will work on drums if you have room mike track only
Thank you Kenny, right on time as usual, great job
Thank you much...I always luv the videos you create to show every step...Thank you!
Nice - and you could EQ each kick differently and pan them wide for an even more massive sound.
I think this is one of the powerful features from Reaper, That I wasn't aware of. Absolute stunning technique.
So useful, thank you Kenny!
Saving this to favorites, holy cow
Excellent! Useful! There is nothing like a drum - you can't beat them! But now you can - by layering them...
Kenny, your videos have become way too cool. :)
So cool, where do tou find free drums single samples?
I've been collecting them for years. They're around if you look.
I always thought this must be awfully hard to do. Nicely done. Well, explained.
Same here, I used a plugin, but wasn't that satisfying like this.
Kenny, can you please show us how you mixed that radio-ready vocals in this track. Sounds really 90s-00s rock. I really love it!
Your tastes 😂😂😂😂
This is insane… So simple and fast!
Thank you!
An easy way to make it way better. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for.
Hi. Love this. WHere can I find kick and snare samples please?
Just what I needed. Thanks Kenny 🙂
Is there bug in the current version. No matter how I set the threshold these are only few cutting points.
Does anyone know why im still hearing the original kick sound even though its been replaced with the sample?
Is there a way to do this but with sample libraries instead of a singular sound? I want to randomize the drum hits so they sound more human.
But here’s my question, if we use reaper for our live mix at church how would we be able to layer samples on kick and snare without having to use triggers?
This is great!! Thanx Kenny (and Reaper for being Awesome)😁
Great lesson. And really cool song!
Very very nice! 🙂
Thank you, Sir, 🙏🌺😇
Would love to know what you have on your library as replacement samples :)
Just like every video, treasure trove of info!!
Once again, You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use reaper for live streaming mixing to separate mixing of actual performance to live stream. My question is, is this possible to apply on my case?
So I’m having issues.. once I click dynamic split, everything works but some of the hits get duplicated so it sounds like it’s glitching out. Also, not all of the transients are being split.. some are getting missed. Any advice on how to fix that?

Could you use an envelope on the volume? I know it’s tedious but it seems possible
*the song is "Break The Line" by Coma Svensson. Nice video tho \m/*
Who is the artist on this? Great song!
That's amazing
Damn that was helpful and awesome
I invested in BFD3 because it was on a black Friday sale and I just haven't been able to get it triggered by Audio
ANY ideas..?
nicee, tks so much ~~
🤩
i've used rea-gate for midi triggering drum samplers for years, way simpler and faster(for me anyway).. still great info for beginners as always
Amazing !! thx !

YEP Nice
Really? It was really that easy? I gotta try this!
woowww👏👏👏👏
this changes my audio...
i had kick snare kick kick snare
no matter the thresehold it became a single kick all the way through
woooooooow
