Cable capacitance probably matters more than what kind of wood an electric guitar is made out of. A good cable going from the guitar to amp (or the first buffer) is really important. I wish more companies would list the capacitance of their cables
I have been reading about runway cables and had seen some other RUclips videos. I just put an order in because of this video. Thanks!
I was just reading a thread on how to reduce noise on a my Katana Artist-which said get the best cable you can afford-when you mentioned this interview. I'd already seen Austin's product on Darrel Braun, and between the two, Runway Audio seems to fit the bill. I just sent my order in. Thanks, Dylan!
That's literally the exact cable I was building around the time you were doing yours. I just couldn't keep up with demand and didn't want to push for it. They're great cables and people are still gigging with them. So I would say Runway Audio is doing it right and ready to build.
Very cool. These cables are on my list.
I bought a 20' cable and joined your channel. Thanks Dylan!
thanks so much sir
great company and great dudes. they've done two pedalboard setups for me and both turned out amazing. cannot recommend them enough.
How did you ship out the pedalboard and pedals for? and how much did it cost for them to make you a pedalboard set up? Did you tell them the exact order that you wanted and can you just explain to me the process and how long it took please? I’m thinking about doing that for myself as well!
@@fredsaintfelix6828 I don't quite remember how much it cost since it was a handful of years ago, though if I had to guess-timate, i'd say it was probably around $45-55 to ship? The first setup they did set me back around 750 and the last one they did was 600; however that includes all custom hand-made/soldiered patch cables with SP 400 jacks (best on the market right now).
It's a pretty simple process: after you fill out the form on their website, you'll get a phone call from them to discuss what kind of pedals you're using, what kind of board you have, power supplies/etc. They'll ask you follow up questions in regards to how you want your board to be set up (pedal order mostly). It's about a 15 min phone call, give or take. They'll then send you a quote to make sure everything reflects what you talked about; if it all looks good to you, you'll ship the board out and it usually takes them about 2 weeks (depending on how big/small your board is) for them to complete it. Hopefully that explains it all :-)
@@chrisjeemusic Yes that explains everything perfectly and clearly, thank you so much for your time and taking Time to just explain everything In detail. Much appreciated!
@@fredsaintfelix6828 No problem at all! Happy to do so :-)
@@chrisjeemusic do you send the pedals with the pedals already mounted on the pedalboard?
I was expecting an in-depth discussion about cable building, however this turned out to be a just presentation of Runaway Audio company. They seem to be very decent cables however my guitar cable has 15,8496 pF/ft or 52 pF/m capacitance so I don't see any reason for a change. Anyway I still enjoy watching this channel. Thanks for the awesome stuff Dylan!
20 pF/ft (66 pF/metre) is pretty good. There aren't many others that low. And some are 3 times that - multiply that by the length of your cable and it can amount to a significant total capacitance.
I just purchased 2 of the 10’ cables and, I’ll get the patch cables when I can afford them.
I just bought some.
I’m going to get one after Christmas because my cable isn’t working all that good
Colossal cable sweet fats low capacitance cables said ‘hold my beer!” 17pf/ft! Silver plated copper!! Excellent!! 🏆
$130.00 for an 11 foot cable? Yeah…. No.
@@DylanTalksTone lol you said you wanted the best! Silver cables cost more! 😋
Diminishing returns at that point
@@DylanTalksTone true, but considering it a one time purchase because like everyone they offer a lifetime warranty, seems to be worth it! 🏆
Seems like a good company
Do you prefer these cables more than Mogami cables?
Mogami has nothing on these cables. Mogami has a marketing department that is better than their product.
perfect for someone like me who loves flying.
what about Revelation Cable ?
Would love to shoot it out with a LAVA Cables ELC and Blue Demon.
I've used these cables recently and I'm definitely a fan. However, I don't agree with the "best cables" statement. Yes there great and I have no issue recommending them to other's, there is nothing really quantifiable to state there the best. The shielding is roughly industry standard, other companies claim greater shielding. Use plugs that most use along with Neutrik and Switchcraft, all have proven reliable, although I've seen all fail. Great that they mention capacitance, most companies don't, although there not the lowest I think Sommer makes one that's lower. Again great stuff, but as with everything else gear related there isn't a best, just whatever inspires you to play.
Feel free to share a better spec cable that is more durable. I’ll totally check it out
@@DylanTalksTone That's the thing I wasn't saying that it's not the highest spec cable available, just that each cable alters the tone in a way that won't appeal to every player. If it was just about capacitance, flexibility or shielding I would be looking at specs. I believe it's called the Sommer Spirit is the lowest capacitance cable I've ever tried, but it's not the best either. It's really just about how the cable affects our setup and our own prefence for the tone we're going for.
Shouldn’t Austin be in Texas?
The best I hsve found are Rattlesnake cables. They are my choice.
Q: What is the lowest Capacitance cable on the market ?
I believe it is Sommer SC-Spirit LLX which has a stated capacitance of 15.8496 pF/ft.
@@PeterNiallLancaster Serious ?
It wasn't always this easy. Back in the day your choice of advertising was limited to magazines, which was expensive. Otherwise you had to open accounts at local ma & pa music stores and, if successful, expand outwards. This was super expensive with airfare, hotels, rental car and answering machine services. We didn't have internet or cell phones so you had to carry a bunch of dimes in your pocket to make phone calls and you walked a lot. But persist we did and a handful of manufacturers established the professional audio cable business.
So the fact that you can go on Instagram & RUclips a hundred times a day and proclaim that you make the "Best Guitar Cable Ever" is a slap in the face and extremely disrespectful to those companies that started it all.
Just so you know, you absolutely don't make the greatest cable ever made. You use the same cable as 95% of all the other cable guys, the same connectors, the same shitty heat shrink, the same snakeskin covering and I'm absolutely positive you use the same exact manufacturing techniques as the lot. You have shown no originality or creativity in your products, no technical breakthroughs that allows you to make this claim.
But after more than 40 years of building hundreds of studios and thousands of cables, I could be wrong. I'm all ears.
SO of course with these claims, there will be a LOT of A/B testing and measurements showing what these differences are in quantifiable electrical and electronic terms right?
I mean… the specs are published. It’s not that hard.
He actually mentioned cable capacitance specs right in the video.
Yes, it is a good quality cable. But.. one big problem.. If you using it on a hardwood floor and accidently step on it you will be flying along with your guitar.. This is why they called Runway?? The outer surface of the cable is very slippery. Good luck.. You can break your bones and your instrument. Unsafe IMO
Divine Noise cables are the best cables. End of story. You’re welcome.
Amazon cables for ten bucks are better than this scam.
Please, tell us more.
I would assume that since y'all boast about the fact that Runway cables are the "best", surely you have published a white paper describing which tests you ran, and the results, and which brands you tested them against.
Yes. We did a video about that as well. Picofarads per foot is the important specification.
