The 2023 Clemson coach of the year award goes to ! ........... DRUM ROLL ............................................................ TYLER FROM SPARTINBURG !
Mafah is a boss! XT is my personal hero! Love his mental toughness. His mental toughness is way, way, way bigger than his physical toughness! Way bigger….
Well crap, it`s not like we didn`t see it coming early. Every talking head on TV and radio put Clemson on upset watch. And based on what we`ve seen over the last 2 years, it wasn`t surprising.
I made the worst mistake: I forgot that coaching (at every level) matters. Our HC hired a bunch of inexperienced coaches over the years and it finally invalidated the talent we have. I still don't think we're going to be ok next year. I think Georgia massacres us in game one. I've tried to be honest with the Clemson community, but I always end up the spoiled, entitled fan. A lot of these fans need to accept that the days of being elite are over and that Swinney has basically settled in for retirement at the tune of $11 mil per year.
@@ClemsonFootballLive It used to be if you wanted to beat Georgia, you catch them in the first 2 or 3 games of the season. This is a different Georgia now, but i`m still optimistic that this new O line coach will work a miracle, something will click for Cade, and our defense will still be elite. Maybe Jeff Scott will be cheating behind Grishams back with our receivers, and Dabo will trust Riley enough to let him actually run the offense. And pigs will fly. : )
@@ClemsonFootballLive Yeah. People say we`re spoiled and winning is everything. I just want them to look like they know what they`re doing. The years when DW and TLaw were there, even the losses were ok because they played hard, showed they knew what they were doing, and really wanted it. These guys look like they`re just punching the clock, and that comes from Dabo. I haven`t seen much fire from him till Tyler lit him up.
@@rogerparks2373 Yeah, priorities are exposed by what we 1. spend our money on and 2. what makes us angry. Swinney is more angry over criticism than losing. His priority: not winning
Before the Duke game, as I prepared my popcorn, I looked over to the TV from the kitchen and noticed Dabo standing in the middle of the Duke football field. As I was pouring my Pepsi into my cup, I heard him tell everyone that he hired Garrett Riley to call the "Clemson Offense". Here, there was sort of an ominous feeling that there wasn't really gonna be much changes or improvement, but I was still hopeful that there would still be. Unfortunately, as the game got going, it still felt like a continuation of the 2021 & 2022 years on offense. Pat McAfee said that if Clemson continued the poor play following that Duke loss, then it would "get loud". ruclips.net/video/MfkRZipbw-M/видео.html It definitely got loud after the NC State loss.
For comparison.... the Mich '20 and '21 recruiting classes were ranked #10 and 13 ( behind Clemson #3 in '20). A stark contrast in player development between the 2 coaching staffs! Especially offense side of the ball. TX #15 & Wash was #30 in '21. For those who care.
For me, this season was a total disappointment. A total letdown. I'm completely disappointed. Already looking forward to late August or early September. I just want to be legitimately able to compete for a natty again. I could care less about the ACC championship other than being a vehicle to get to where we want to go. This conference is horrible for football.
Agreed. Total disappointment when compared to what I thought Clemson would be before the season. I thought Cade was our next Deshaun Watson, and I think he's proven that not to be the case, unfortunately. I hope he proves me wrong next season, but I don't think he can make that big of a jump in one off-season. I think we'll start 2024 off with a loss (potentially a big one), but if we can run the table after that then we should be able to make the 12-team playoff. Here's hoping!
Oh this season was the end result of poor hires. The HC has retired (while being paid an expected honorarium of $11 mil per year). Listen to the rant against Tyler. People are fooled that Swinney was talking only to Tyler. No, he was making a statement to the fanbase. He read us our rights. He said a lot of alarming things that shows us what he thinks about us and most importantly, how he views himself: he said he expects appreciation, he said Clemson won 2 championships in 7 years (it used to be 2 in 3 years), he said he didn't care how much money he made (most people live paycheck to paycheck while working jobs that will fire them no matter how well they've historically performed; his buyout to be fired is $60 mil plus), he said we hadn't sniffed a championship in almost 35 years before him (true, but at this rate, we won't sniff another one for another 35) etc. If his mindset is not corrected, his overly-supportive fans will realize in 2-3 years that they have been duped and that I wasn't the bad guy. Again, this mindset was exposed. It showed us what got us to this point.
The head yokel dabo said it himself when he was celebrating beating Kentucky.... "we was 4-4 had to make a decision then" so what i took you lose 4 games then coach. Gotcha blabbo Sweeny.. that guy is instant comic relief when soneone puts a mic in front of him.
75% of Clemson fans will not admit. He has retired as a coach but he still wants to be paid. His rants during that 4-4 part of the season was directed at more than 1.5% of fans. He was reading us our rights. He basically said it to Tyler from Spartanburg: pull for me or quit pulling for Clemson. That’s who is coaching Clemson. Not the guy who got us 2 championships in 3 season.
You are right. My prediction for 2024 is 9-3 or 8-4. I know the offensive coaches Swinney retained. They are part of the reason the team has underperformed
@@ClemsonFootballLive Clemson will be fine, this season was a shock, I thought Clemson was loaded before the season. I think next year with Nico Tennessee can go 11-1 floor 10-2, reality might punch me in the mouth though, the SEC is insane..
Agree across the board. Looking back… a 9-4 season is infinitely better than what we thought it would be after NCSU. No losses were (really) blowouts. (Duke wasn’t up big in Q3) We weren’t as lucky as we were in the past - but we also weren’t as dominant. When you are dominant, you don’t need luck.
