Dabo hasn't adjusted to the new college football with the transfer portal and NIL. Obviously Clemson was always paying players under the table by using that church by campus to funnel money to their recruits and players but now it's no longer against the rules and they can't keep up with the big boys. Plus Dabo refuses to use the portal to benefit his team and to push the dead weight out the door every season and other teams are so they have a big advantage.

From what I saw the game was Clemson games to win. Kade played really well. He has dropped the early drives he struggled but he picked it up in the 3rd quarter made some special throws that his receivers dropped. So Kade played a really good game. . Turnovers were the problem this game.

Yeah I think we’re seeing the end of the Dabo Swinney era. And make no mistake about it, he’s been Clemson’s greatest coach in program history. But at this juncture, I think it’s fair to ask what was Dabo’s actual role in this success vs. what was actually Venables, Scott, Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence etc.
First respect to Clemson and the success they have achieved. They always held up the ACC banner on the national stage. Last night was a big win for my Devils. And we are GOOD but haven’t been getting the respect that we deserve. I wasn’t surprised honestly with the win. Clemson is a top 4 or 5 team in the ACC from what I saw. They need better QB and wide receiver play. We were not worried about y’all going deep on us at any point last night. You’re running backs are good though and that is the strength of your offense. Good game and good luck the rest of the way.
Duke's QB looks like a future NFL 1st rounder. He is more athletic then Daniel Jones. If Duke's WRs could actually catch the ball they could go far. Their QB was throwing lasers and hitting his WRs in the chest, facemask, and hands but they couldn't catch the ball.
Ohio State exposed Clemson's defense with Venables during the playoff rematch when they blew them out. Clemson was excellent at stealing signs and adjusting their defense on the fly to counter offenses. So Ohio State started huddling, rushing to the line, and snapping the ball quickly. Clemson's defense didn't have enough time to get their defensive calls in and they were out of position. Ever since then other smart opponents were coping them.

This Michigan grad feels for you. We suffered several lost years since I graduated in the heyday of the 90s. Hopefully you’ll soon obtain AAU Membership and you’ll then fit well in the BIG.
FSU, Clemson, and UNC should just leave and join the B1G next year. They can claim their old GOR is void because the ACC changed their original contract by adding more members and they never agreed to play them and lose money flying all their sports across the country to do it. They are going to end up in court fighting about the GOR anyways so they might as well do it now and start making a lot of money in the meantime. By the time they figure it all out in the court system it will probably take 10+ years and the ACC might not even exist by then. Even if they lose the the courts aren't trying to bankrupt state institutions so they would probably be placed on affordable payment plans. The B1G has the academic resources and influence to help FSU and Clemson earn their AAU memberships.
Had a conversation with a buddy a couple days ago where I said be careful about preseason hype because it happens every year, but said I was still optimistic because I thought the team was deeper than the last two years and thought we had resolved QB issue. Now I'm scratching my head and wondering were Streeter and DJU really the issues or is something else going on? I'm not just concerned about Reilly, I'm concerned because I've seen a gradual deterioration in Clemson Football each year since 2018.
DJ U looks great at Org State. Obviously Streeter wasn't a good OC or QB developer. Garrett Riley is a good OC but sometimes it takes a couple seasons to install a complex offensive scheme and to recruit the players needed to properly run it. The older players might be set in their ways from doing something different for their entire college football careers. So it might be difficult for them to pick up a new system compared to teaching it to a new virgin recruit that doesn't know anything about college football.
Garrett Riley looked like he left his playbook back at Ft. Worth and saw the Morris/Scott/Elliott/Streeter playbook lying around and just said Og well.....I'll use that.
The only thing he has done to himself is build this program up to a point where if the team doesn’t make the playoffs every year it’s a failure….same as Nick and same as Kirby.

I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis. You were patient and calm despite your team losing; no tantrums or acting up necessary. I truly believe history repeats itself. As my father once told me when FSU was down that “the ACC better beat them while they’re down”. I believe no one can stay good forever whether it be Ohio State, Alabama, FSU, LSU, or even Georgia. Everyone falters and has to rebuild eventually. When Clemson was getting beat by FSU all the time, Dabo stayed and built it up the correct way. Then, they went on a marvelous run and dominated the ACC representing the conference very well for the past 7 years. Now, FSU is coming back. Thanks to Clemson for holding down the ACC. I can’t wait until ALL conferences are nearly indistinguishable in talent; I’m probably just dreaming but I believe it will happen in the future one day. I do wish that FSU and other Power 5 (soon to be Power 4) teams would scrap these money games with FCS competition. FCS doesn’t prepare you for Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan,etc. Maybe the money games keep the small schools financially stable (I truly don’t know) but I do believe a lot of terrific matchups can be made between each conference outside FCS competition or a group of 5. FSU vs Baylor, FSU vs Texas A&M, Clemson vs Texas, Ole Miss vs USC, Alabama vs Baylor, MS State vs Texas Tech, Georgia vs Utah, etc etc. There are a lot of dream matchups that can be made, a lot of what if’s could be brought to realization.

You saw his speed though when Mafa fumbled and Cade rand down the field and made the tackle. In time he’ll be great. Coaching was to blame if he and the rest of the team wasn’t ready.

For all those defending DJ…he was a Huge part of the issue. I’m a Georgia Bulldog, so don’t have the hate many Gamecock fans have, just being honest. I agree that the O-line didn’t do him many favors, but I’ve watched him since High School, and never thought he was all that. He was huge for his age, and took advantage of his “ahead of schedule” size and athleticism over other High School players. Most of his downfield passes were 50/50 backyard throws. He ushered in the non-elite era at Clemson, and the coaching staff stayed with him way too long. Players got complacent with coming from behind too often, sub-par play, and basically lost the drive that winners have. Their play, of late, primarily lies at the feet of their coaching staff. Dabo is a great player motivator, and certainly great at useless statistics, but isn’t great at schematics. The position and asst coaches just aren’t doing their job. Clemson has 4 & 5 star players all over the field, but they haven’t been coached up as they should have been. That’s my rambled take, I could be wrong. I’m no expert, just a longtime fan.
FSU fan here.. not to gloat. Truthfully. You know what happened to Bobby and the dynasty? Lost continuity amongst coaches who finally moved on (amato richt) after spending years as assistants. Not replacing them with the right ppl. Maybe there’s a common thread @ Clemson now?
Klubnik is talented and no OC can cover for 2 fumbles at the endzone and a interception that should been a completion. I am a UT fan but yall just had bad basic football in the redzone.
It’s a circular issue, honestly. And it all points back to coaching. You could tell that Dabo was holding onto the Raines for the offense for the most part all night. Only when we had a two back set did it actually look like Garrett Riley had the clipboard in hand. I just don’t think they trust Kade to throw it down field and that could be because the wide receivers aren’t as dominant as we’ve had in the past and that also could be because the line isn’t as great on the line of scrimmage as we thought, and all points back to Coach again. It’s going to be a long season if we don’t get any of this figured out. First thing that should be done is give the playbook to Garrett Riley, so he could dump it in the trashcan. Once, and for all! Next would be to find some receivers, who couldbe dominant up the seam or at least find space to make a play. Kate has the arm and the accuracy in order to throw it. I truly believe that! We refused to let him throw it downfield.
Dabo needs to get into the transfer portal or Clemson won’t be considered as a good team for very long. If he can’t change with the times, it might be time for Clemson to move on. Plus DJU turning it around at Oregon State really doesn’t make Clemson look good for recruits

I appreciate your candor and honestly about this Clemson loss. No way around it...this was a bad loss. They happen to everyone at some point in CFB. Clemson can rebound but it's not a quick fix. The offensive sluggishness will make things difficult on the defense. What Clemson needs is better ball control so even if they do not score they at least get 2, 3, or 4 first downs and move the ball some. This takes time off the clock. It lets the defense rest. And it keeps the other team's offense off the field. That alone -- even if they struggle to put the ball in the endzone -- will let that Clemson D do more damage. Clemson should have one of the top 2 or 3 defensive lines in the country. It's little steps at a time but it definitely starts with the O blocking and running better. They don't have to pass all the time. They need balance and more time of possession. Just that alone will change what their defense can do to teams. It will keep things closer. But without a more balanced offense and more time of possession it will be a long day against a team like Florida State.

This game showed me that D.J. wasn't the ENTIRE PROBLEM with Clemson. Our WRs, CAN NOT get seperation to get open. We are to SLOW and don't run CRISP ROUTES. D.J. wasn't the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, just like last season, we DON'T take care of the ball and when we do fumble or throw a INT, it's at the worst possible time of the game. The sooner we Clemson fans ACCEPT the fact that we are now a mediocre program and that we NO LONGER are a National Power House the better off you will be. Our glory days are OVER!!!!!!

They can claim their old GOR is void because the ACC changed their original contract by adding more members and they never agreed to play them and lose money flying all their sports across the country to do it. They are going to end up in court fighting about the GOR anyways so they might as well do it now and start making a lot of money in the meantime. By the time they figure it all out in the court system it will probably take 10+ years and the ACC might not even exist by then. Even if they lose the the courts aren't trying to bankrupt state institutions so they would probably be placed on affordable payment plans. The B1G has the academic resources and influence to help FSU and Clemson earn their AAU memberships.

Had a conversation with a buddy a couple days ago where I said be careful about preseason hype because it happens every year, but said I was still optimistic because I thought the team was deeper than the last two years and thought we had resolved QB issue. Now I'm scratching my head and wondering were Streeter and DJU really the issues or is something else going on? I'm not just concerned about Reilly, I'm concerned because I've seen a gradual deterioration in Clemson Football each year since 2018.
DJ U looks great at Org State. Obviously Streeter wasn't a good OC or QB developer. Garrett Riley is a good OC but sometimes it takes a couple seasons to install a complex offensive scheme and to recruit the players needed to properly run it. The older players might be set in their ways from doing something different for their entire college football careers. So it might be difficult for them to pick up a new system compared to teaching it to a new virgin recruit that doesn't know anything about college football.

I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis. You were patient and calm despite your team losing; no tantrums or acting up necessary. I truly believe history repeats itself. As my father once told me when FSU was down that “the ACC better beat them while they’re down”. I believe no one can stay good forever whether it be Ohio State, Alabama, FSU, LSU, or even Georgia. Everyone falters and has to rebuild eventually. When Clemson was getting beat by FSU all the time, Dabo stayed and built it up the correct way. Then, they went on a marvelous run and dominated the ACC representing the conference very well for the past 7 years. Now, FSU is coming back. Thanks to Clemson for holding down the ACC. I can’t wait until ALL conferences are nearly indistinguishable in talent; I’m probably just dreaming but I believe it will happen in the future one day. I do wish that FSU and other Power 5 (soon to be Power 4) teams would scrap these money games with FCS competition. FCS doesn’t prepare you for Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan,etc. Maybe the money games keep the small schools financially stable (I truly don’t know) but I do believe a lot of terrific matchups can be made between each conference outside FCS competition or a group of 5. FSU vs Baylor, FSU vs Texas A&M, Clemson vs Texas, Ole Miss vs USC, Alabama vs Baylor, MS State vs Texas Tech, Georgia vs Utah, etc etc. There are a lot of dream matchups that can be made, a lot of what if’s could be brought to realization.

You all need to chill!! I don't know what's gonna happen the rest of the season but if you think this team is done you are all gonna look stupid! My tigers have a history of loosing a games badly but they always recover at some point. When they do don't forget this time in history! You all are not experts.

Dabo loves his wide receiver screens. I remember when they played Ohio State in 2013 they were doing wide receiver screens all night… it was working that night though

I grew up in the upstate so I’ve got lots of Clemson friends and family and most of them are the same as most Gamecock fans- unrealistic and with team-colored glasses. @@Canesheels maybe so. But he’s a great qb too. The entire team played horribly. He made rookie mistakes but dropped passes, fumbles and the defense arm tackling wasn’t really his fault. You saw his speed though when Mafa fumbled and Cade rand down the field and made the tackle. In time he’ll be great. Coaching was to blame if he and the rest of the team wasn’t ready.

For all those defending DJ…he was a Huge part of the issue. I’m a Georgia Bulldog, so don’t have the hate many Gamecock fans have, just being honest. I agree that the O-line didn’t do him many favors, but I’ve watched him since High School, and never thought he was all that. He was huge for his age, and took advantage of his “ahead of schedule” size and athleticism over other High School players. Most of his downfield passes were 50/50 backyard throws.
He ushered in the non-elite era at Clemson, and the coaching staff stayed with him way too long. Players got complacent with coming from behind too often, sub-par play, and basically lost the drive that winners have. Their play, of late, primarily lies at the feet of their coaching staff. Dabo is a great player motivator, and certainly great at useless statistics, but isn’t great at schematics. The position and asst coaches just aren’t doing their job. Clemson has 4 & 5 star players all over the field, but they haven’t been coached up as they should have been.
That’s my rambled take, I could be wrong. I’m no expert, just a longtime fan.

It’s a circular issue, honestly. And it all points back to coaching. You could tell that Dabo was holding onto the Raines for the offense for the most part all night. Only when we had a two back set did it actually look like Garrett Riley had the clipboard in hand. I just don’t think they trust Kade to throw it down field and that could be because the wide receivers aren’t as dominant as we’ve had in the past and that also could be because the line isn’t as great on the line of scrimmage as we thought, and all points back to Coach again. It’s going to be a long season if we don’t get any of this figured out. First thing that should be done is give the playbook to Garrett Riley, so he could dump it in the trashcan. Once, and for all! Next would be to find some receivers, who couldbe dominant up the seam or at least find space to make a play. Kate has the arm and the accuracy in order to throw it. I truly believe that! We refused to let him throw it downfield.

Dabo needs to get into the transfer portal or Clemson won’t be considered as a good team for very long. If he can’t change with the times, it might be time for Clemson to move on. Plus DJU turning it around at Oregon State really doesn’t make Clemson look good for recruits

I appreciate your candor and honestly about this Clemson loss. No way around it...this was a bad loss. They happen to everyone at some point in CFB. Clemson can rebound but it's not a quick fix. The offensive sluggishness will make things difficult on the defense. What Clemson needs is better ball control so even if they do not score they at least get 2, 3, or 4 first downs and move the ball some. This takes time off the clock. It lets the defense rest. And it keeps the other team's offense off the field. That alone -- even if they struggle to put the ball in the endzone -- will let that Clemson D do more damage. Clemson should have one of the top 2 or 3 defensive lines in the country. It's little steps at a time but it definitely starts with the O blocking and running better. They don't have to pass all the time. They need balance and more time of possession. Just that alone will change what their defense can do to teams. It will keep things closer. But without a more balanced offense and more time of possession it will be a long day against a team like Florida State.

This game showed me that D.J. wasn't the ENTIRE PROBLEM with Clemson. Our WRs, CAN NOT get seperation to get open. We are to SLOW and don't run CRISP ROUTES. D.J. wasn't the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, just like last season, we DON'T take care of the ball and when we do fumble or throw a INT, it's at the worst possible time of the game. The sooner we Clemson fans ACCEPT the fact that we are now a mediocre program and that we NO LONGER are a National Power House the better off you will be. Our glory days are OVER!!!!!!

Tee Higgins is weird on social media he cheers for the Tennessee Volunteers and him and I went to the same high school, and he said the only went to Clemson because while we were growing up Tennessee you had some bad years.
