When I was like five, I heard this piece in an airplane video and ever since then I've been trying to find it. Then I stumbled upon this unknowingly and then at 0:54, I was like "THAT'S IT!!! IT"S THE PIECE IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR YEARS!!!" And I've watched it probably 50 times since then!
His improvisations are awesome. I came across van Hoef as a recommended video, and now I'm subscribed to his channel and totally sold on his talent. Truly amazing. And this organ! Wow! such a rich tone, with what seems to be an almost infinite (excuse the hyperbole) registration combination.
I love Vangelis, and this is truly an outstanding and worthy rendition of his Conquest of Paradise. I love the addition of the bells. Together with those great chords they create a feeling of long gone times when the seas were the centre of the world. I'm Dutch, could write this in Dutch... but putting this to words goes better in English. Someone should use this in a film or something like that.
brilliant sculpting of sound and his ear is solid... he is seeking the marriage of the sound and structure in his work.... The orchestral aspect of this music abounds in both worlds of classical and contemporary
I heartily agree; happily this wonderfully talented and musically sensitive artist is doing much to revive interest in organ music and recitals, for which can only say HALLELUJAH !!!
