@@gregoryduncan3067 oh yeah! Wow, I should rephrase my statement to: There are only a few remakes of Beatles that I really like. Joe could sing anything and I'd like it! 🙌😎
@@gregoryduncan3067.. Yes, that's a great one, too.. Earth Wind And Fire's "Got To Get You Into My Life" comes to mind too. "Every Little Thing" by Yes is a lesser known but very good, unique rendition. I think all the examples we've mentioned in these comments have at least one thing in common. They're not strict 'covers' . The performer(s) take the liberty of putting their personal touch on them.
He also did this on Ed Sullivan in Dec68. Also on Dick Cavett in 1972. He seems he really liked the song! Charles wrote many familiar songs beginning in the late 50s. Somewhere along the line, it appears that he stopped writing and did covers? Appreciate any insight on this topic.
sorry for the late response, but just read your post. True, Ray Charles may have 'really liked' the song (can't really think he'd sing it if he didn't), but, as I recall, his version was very popular. (Hence, he chose to perform it on "the Midnight Special", which was a very youth-oriented and "must-see" late Friday night tv series at the time on.) At one point, Charles' version reached Billboard's Top 100 at 35 in the United States and was number 36 in the UK. The cover also received strong endorsement from members of the Beatles.
Em trinta de março de 1973 eu estava exatamente com um dia de vida. Que privilégio, após 51 anos, ver essa gravação com qualidade tão exuberante, Ray Charles nessa linda versão da canção dos Beatles.

Earth, Wind and Fire did a great rendition of Got to get you into my life on the Sergeant Pepper’s album. It’s too bad Ray Charles was not on this album as well with this song. Paul McCartney must’ve loved this version as well.
Amazing!
Totally different take, making a very British song sound like a Chicago blues song....absolutely stunning ❤❤
I normally don't like other people's versions of Beatles songs, but Ray just has a way that makes it work Great performance!💜
Agreed. They're few and far between. Notable exception is the gorgeous Sergio Mendes treatment of Fool On The HIll.
@@blujay9191 oh yes! I love that one, too.
"A Little Help From My Friends" by Joe Cocker is another one of the good ones.

Fabulous rendition of a fabulous song! 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Fantastic Ray...I was so fortunate to be able to see him in the early 90s...thanks for sharing his live performances because no one was like Ray!
Fantastic version! Totally reinvented the classic McCartney song.
Ray took this to a whole 'nother level. Soulful.
What a great cover and tribute to the Beatles by one of their musical influences ("I Feel Fine" sounds like, "What Did I Say).

Would be interesting to hear a Soul and R&B compilation of Beatles covers.
A great Ray Charles cover of a classic song.
His vocals reminds me of Richie Havens
Ray Charles re-made it in his own style 🎶💙🎶👏👏
Enthusiastic performance!
Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
That guys performances are so full of energy. I think, if he could, he would be running around on stage.

Ray doing one of my favorite Beatles songs. Wow! Ray had no equal.
He had the talent to even enhance an already successful music
Great interpretation of s great song
The great Ray Charles....whenever he sings it's the Blues
The biggest of the last century beside Frank Sinatra and Elvis 😊

Love this version
One of the greatest, saddest songs in music, made his own.

So good❤
A versao dos beatles e a melhor, mas essa do ray charles e da hora tb
Um cover à altura. Grande Ray ❤
That's just sooooo good.
Awesome
Oh genius❤
Sounds exactly like Jerry Fisher era Blood Sweat and Tears ...
Check out the Australian band ZOOT cover of Eleanor Rigby.
I promise it's worth it, though perhaps not for a Ray Charles fan!
Peace.
Wow Ray was rapping long long before it had a name!
There is still too many lonely people out there. The bigger the cities, the more cell phones and computers -- the more lonely there are.
Horrible
Of all the Beatles songs he could pick from, he picks Eleanor Rigby? Seems kind of odd, but whatever.
He picked several.
That didn't work. Nice try though.
(:
Uh you're in the minority here.
That's nothing new. LOL

Love Ray Charles and The Beatles, but didn’t think it worked either. Credit to him for trying a different approach.
