@@hardstuckbronze5880 Yesterday was recorded over 3,000 times by artists ranging from Sinatra and Ray Charles to countless solo guitar versions. It doesn't exceed the two minute mark by more than a few seconds but it has considerably more than two chords. McCartney has left an indelible mark on the planet with his words & music for which we all owe him a debt of gratitude. Simple perhaps, but nonetheless memorable and therefore enduring. Having crafted When I'm Sixty Four 50 years prior to reaching that age himself (along with Things We Said Today, I'll Follow The Sun and others) may have prompted John to inform Paul that he'd indeed "passed the audition." Having the good fortune of being assigned to George Martin was all it took to place them above and beyond any competition to this day.

Hurry--he's 78 now, believe it or not. I wonder how much longer he will keep performing. It's been 50 years since the Beatles broke up, when he was 27.
I've been lucky enough to see him twice - once with Wings in 1975 in Melbourne. Second time was three years ago, again in Melbourne. 44 years apart and still got it.

Absolutely. A doleful, sombre, narrative accompanied by evocative lyrics and desperate, almost urgent strings---it's a bit haunting and painful: a true classic.
A pop masterpiece. A powerfully poignant story told, with amazing lyrics and a wonderful arrangement, in two minutes. The urgent, plaintive strings take this song to level far above most others.

Great version, yet no one can reproduce the way George and John harmonized in this with Paul. People's voices have their unique attributes that are far harder to mimic.

Nice to see a lefty playing the guitar and really never noticed until now that Paul does play left handed and I'm right handed but have always played left handed don't know why but can't play right handed.
Eleanor Rigby sings the same sad song every night; she sings with a melancholic voice that she practiced for decades; but no one will hear her; what does she care? all the lonely people, where do they all come from? Because it they'd came to her grave they would hear her crying voice calling that impossible love.

Nice song, a must listen once in a while, I was nervous I thought Paul would make a mistake, but he did really good, is a continuous song, so concentration at 100%
No good reaaon for anybody else trying to repage this song. this is exactly the way it should always be done: a good, powerfull strings orchestra, and Paul Mcartney. any other invention ia useless.
Comrade JulyN78 - The Party™ has issued initiatives to completely break down society and degrade culture so the state can take total control. This will require everyone to hand in any 70s rock albums by white artists. Despite most rock being ideologically beneficial compositions, the band members themselves must be photoshopped less white - before being erased from the Collective Consciousness - particularly Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull and Yes. Citizens will then have their albums replaced with Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Linda Ronstadt, as well as Islamic Progressive music & Rage against the Machine. MTV will no longer tolerate bands acting "white" by singing in English correctly, having above average tunes, playing their own instruments or using intelligent lyrics. Bourgeois values and the memory of them must be erased from the Collective Consciousness with the help of historical revisionism in the academia, news media, and the Party's branches in the entertainment sector. The proletariat will then undergo re-education and be released from ungood thoughts, by instilling a culture of materialism, physical beauty, sex and financial success without effort or practical ability.
I know it's sacrilege to say this, but I wish McCartney would write a an extended 4-5 minute version of this. It always feels like it ends too soon, which is obviously part of the appeal (it always leaves you wanting more). But it would feel like such a release to listen to this song, at least once, without having that final feeling of slight disappointment.
