Aegon doesn’t seek glory, he seeks love and validation. He didn’t get attention by his father, and his mother and grandfather just used him as a puppet for the throne. Alicent had no right to believe Aegon should feel grateful for the “sacrifices” they made for him because none of these “sacrifices” were made for him. In the end Aegon is a puppet. Even when his beloved son died, he had no say when it came to his boy’s body paraded around against his will. The only thing Aegon has left that loves him and he loves in return is Sunfyre
That mentality is something that I feel like we've seen over and over with Alicent and Otto, and one of the reasons why a hefty portion of the audience has such a negative opinion of them. She looks down on Aegon for not being grateful for sacrifices that were made to put him into a position he never wanted, and which was done purely as a means of fulfilling their own ambitions. She had a similar approach to the parade for his son, initially supporting it until balking at Otto telling her she should participate, and then immediately turning back around and using the same reasoning she was upset at being presented with in order to get Helaena to do the same. Aegon has done (or has at least been implied to have done) some terrible things. But much like with the death of his son, in this particular situation he has every reason to be angry and ungrateful, and I can't help but pity him.
Alicent forgets that she is everything that made Aegon what he is, he never wanted the throne she and her father wanted it so badly. They taught him nothing, trained him for nothing. So he knows nothing

He had the same teachers as aemond. Aegon just didn’t care while aemond learned lol you can definitely see the difference between the two. To say they didnt train him is hilarious because in the first season all we saw him doing was drinking and whoring himself out lol

I love that they have Meyles and Vhagar lock talons to fight. Raptors, such as eagles and hawks, lock talons and free fall to try and ground the other in the exact same way.

Alicent is the perfect example of how a parent should not be 🤦🏽♂️. This is one of the reasons why I love team black because with all of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s flaws she at least have a loving relationship with her children and other people ❤. The guy didn’t even want to be king, they kidnapped him , forced him to become the king and once he is trying, everyone just calls him stupid and irresponsible ( which he is) but that’s a reflection of his parents 🤦🏽♂️. You can hate Cole for a lot of things but it doesn’t mean the guy isn’t a competent warrior and battle commander, lots of people let their emotions get in the way of appreciating some great character moments
Sunfyre had her first battle with a dragon whereas meleys and vhagar are experienced in wars and have fought other dragons before. I mean vhagar is a beast because she has fought a lot since the era of Aegon the conqueror.

I’ve read the books, in them Aegon is well aware of this plan and he doesn’t charge like a drunk idiot the show portrayed him to be. They fought Meleys together & since this was the first time dragons actually fought among themselves nobody knew what the outcomes would actually be. Leaving the dragons tangled among themselves all 3 of them, on the show you see Aemond attacking his brother along with Meleys but in the books he never did. I’ve read them, what page does it say “Criston Cole came up with this plan” or even hint at it
Cant wait for vhagar to rip out caraxes guts.. Daemon is supposed to be the best dragon rider and have a high battle iq. However Daemon can't think of a plan to kill vhagar without killing himself and caraxes in the process. Daemon wasn't sure he could kill vhagar, even with the trap set. He needed every aspect of the battle to go 100% as planned to even have a chance of killing vhagar. That's pretty lame of Daemon...
Crazy how you blame aegon whereas he ended up like that from Aemond firing at him point blank. Yeah he went in with no plan or experience, but it could’ve been a 2v1 but Aemond took him out the fight
To be fair, Vhagar was known to be constantly patrolling King's Landing at this part of the war. Aemond leaving to take part in battle was a complete curveball for everyone.

Vhagar is an OG from the conquest. She was ridden by Visenya sister-queen of Aegon the Conqueror. It is hard to know if there was Dragon V Dragon combat prior to the dance.

Its funny how the characters in the story try to paint Viserys as a good King like we didnt watch season 1. 😂😂😂 He was a good man, but a bad king. If Aegon half the king that he was he still would be a bad king.
Uhm considering the only real conflict the king had under his rule was the crab feeder which was defeated by his brother and a member of his council and was heard he was sending aid. His reign was of peace and prosperity in terms of the realms resources. He was a good king but people claim he wasnt cause he had actual morals like not wanting to marry a toddler and sticking up for his daughter his heir which he had to do cause as he said the results of those accusations were detrimental. And he already could feel Otto and Alicent trying to supplant her. He knew that all the council was bullshit and nothing but people reaching for their own power. The reason they keep referencing the song of ice and fire is to show u the sole reason rhanerya is still fighting. Because she knows the secret why Aegon united the realm. For viserys to tell her that she thinks she's meant to be the prince/princess that was promised.

Daemon probably DID bounce the infant and child Rhaenyra on his knee; according to the book, he was very much the fond uncle who would bring her presents from far lands, and, over the years, his 'fondness' became 'fondness' of a different sort. But I doubt that he had sexual desires for baby/child Rhaenyra.
Vhagar broke meleys leg in the grapple, then tried to drag her down go the ground. Vhagar knew meleys wouldn't be able to take flight again with a broken leg, luckily Meleys was able to stay airborne. Meleys never really stood a chance in a 1v1 with vhagar.
well the battle was different in the book, and it was said that if vahgar was there alone meleys would have a big chance to win against her ( and vahgar wasn't that sneaky with her attacks in the book due to her old age )

A love Rhaenys, she's one of my favourite characters in any show, but she fought that battle against Vhagar badly. Should've come from above aiming for Daemon, and staying away from Vhagar's weapons. On the other hand Vhagar strikes from below using the environment to remain hidden, just like when he killed Luke. Brilliant tactics.

Great Reaction guys. Arguably the greatest episode of the series so far because every scene mattered. Criston proved himself a great commander and Aemond showed how much better he was than aegon in every way. The reason y Rhaenys didn’t retreat is because it would show that the blacks don’t support their allies and with how the pr with the blacks is already so low she knew they couldn’t afford it. Rhaenys engaged with Vhagar to avenge her grandson Luce. Plus she had this castle to protect (that's why she came here in the first place). She would have survived and won if Aemond hadn't sneak her. She was more experienced in battle than these two.
Everyone can hate him as much as they want but Criston on the battlefield has that aura… the man knows what he’s doing when it comes to battle, he’s spiteful and hypocritical and a big projector but there’s no denying this man is in his element this episode
This episode really showed me why the Greens getting rid of Otto was thier biggest mistake because they all dropped the ball this episode. Aegon is upset that Ser Criston Cole is making plans without consulting him but when he did it in episode 2 by sending Ser Arryk to kill Rhaenyra you didn't say anything then instead you rewarded him by making him your hand so now he feels like he can do whatever he wants. Aemond's and Ser Criston Cole plan may have worked but it was not the smart move, because killing Rhaenys was not a win. They should've went to Harrenhall while Daemon was by himself and his guard was down because he's been hallucinating and they could've ambushed him. But now not only do the Blacks have Harrenhall and the Riverlands, they also have the North, the Narrow Sea, the Blackwoods and Vhagar killed the Sea Snakes wife. They should've thought that through a little bit more.
I've been watching you guys for awhile. Good channel.. Consider this: Aemon NEVER went after Raenys before she went after him. After he lit Sunfyre up, he never turned to chase Raenys she turned back to search him out. Remember he looked over his right shoulder to see her approaching him. So, I think AEMOM double-crossed Cole by not wanting to kill Raenys he wanted his brother gone.
I'm disappointed with Alicent and Aegon's council. They're supposed to be, as Alicent puts it, well-learned statesmen and women, but they don't know how to appease or read their king. The kid who didn't want to be king in the first place. They know that he has Targaryen blood and that makes him restless and unpredictable. Wise advisers, even if they're rejecting his opinion, would have still used words that would make him feel important and included in the battle plans. I would have told him about the Rook's Rest plan to ambush with Vhagar. That way, if he knows Vhagar is out in the battlefield, I could tell him that he needs to stay in King's Landing to protect the city with his dragon because he's the only one who can do it right now. Well, there's Helaena, but it's not clear if they can count on Helaena to mount her dragon and fight. This way, the King, even though young and foolish, would still feel that he's valued and would remain in the city. Wise advisers would reject or deflect their king's opinions if they're foolish in a more gracious manner. Not completely leave him out of the plans and tell him to do nothing.
Aegon felt betrayed by mad how he made his band he plotted with his brother behind his back he had every right to be pissed in books he was part of the plan and in was really 2vs 1 and Aemond never betrayed Aegon they needed Sunfyer because Vhagar was too slow to catch up with Meleys

Yes , the dragons are the real victims of this pointless war this is the reason they got extinct to begin with. Also this was dumb by aemond taken out sunfyre now the greens have 3 dragons , Vhagar Helena has dreamfyre one of the biggest one but Helena is in no mood to fight right now and daeron has tessarion the blue queen which is the same size as vermax (jaces dragon) so technically only vaghar.
Daemons visions show his insecurities and need for validation. He has to face himself here. The Weirwood trees and the bed he sleeps in makes him see this. The old Gods, are present here. Remember the visions Bran saw when he touched a Weirwood. Targaryens are suppose possess a certain amount of ability to see visions. Daemon always hand waved Aegons dream and his brother Viserys belief in this. He is now coming face to face with this.

This is one of the reasons why I love team black because with all of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s flaws she at least have a loving relationship with her children and other people ❤. Vhagar broke meleys leg in the grapple, then tried to drag her down go the ground. Vhagar knew meleys wouldn't be able to take flight again with a broken leg, luckily Meleys was able to stay airborne.

Criston proved himself a great commander and Aemond showed how much better he was than aegon in every way. Jacaerys had done much more flying, in terms of distance than his mother Rhaenyra, and neither have any battle experience (nor their dragons).
This episode really showed me why the Greens getting rid of Otto was thier biggest mistake because they all dropped the ball this episode. Aegon is upset that Ser Criston Cole is making plans without consulting him but when he did it in episode 2 by sending Ser Arryk to kill Rhaenyra you didn't say anything then instead you rewarded him by making him your hand so now he feels like he can do whatever he wants. Aemond's and Ser Criston Cole plan may have worked but it was not the smart move, because killing Rhaenys was not a win. They should've went to Harrenhall while Daemon was by himself and his guard was down because he's been hallucinating and they could've ambushed him. But now not only do the Blacks have Harrenhall and the Riverlands, they also have the North, the Narrow Sea, the Blackwoods and Vhagar killed the Sea Snakes wife. They should've thought that through a little bit more.

Consider this: Aemon NEVER went after Raenys before she went after him. After he lit Sunfyre up, he never turned to chase Raenys she turned back to search him out. Remember he looked over his right shoulder to see her approaching him. So, I think AEMOM double-crossed Cole by not wanting to kill Raenys he wanted his brother gone.

I'm disappointed with Alicent and Aegon's council. They're supposed to be, as Alicent puts it, well-learned statesmen and women, but they don't know how to appease or read their king. The kid who didn't want to be king in the first place. They know that he has Targaryen blood and that makes him restless and unpredictable. Wise advisers, even if they're rejecting his opinion, would have still used words that would make him feel important and included in the battle plans. I would have told him about the Rook's Rest plan to ambush with Vhagar. That way, if he knows Vhagar is out in the battlefield, I could tell him that he needs to stay in King's Landing to protect the city with his dragon because he's the only one who can do it right now. Well, there's Helaena, but it's not clear if they can count on Helaena to mount her dragon and fight. This way, the King, even though young and foolish, would still feel that he's valued and would remain in the city. Wise advisers would reject or deflect their king's opinions if they're foolish in a more gracious manner. Not completely leave him out of the plans and tell him to do nothing.

Basically all she's done the entire series is make one stupid decision after another because she's reckless, dumb, horny, and thinks her actions don't have consequences. She thinks she's found a way to dig herself out of the hole but she just keeps digging it further. This brain trust is the great white hope of Westeros? Really? Really? And the only reason anything has worked at all is because she had Viserys to make excuses for her in the first place. Oh, and I haven't seen anyone mention that she spent so much time not wanting to be wedded off for political advantage yet she doesn't bat an eye at doing this to her own children or stepchildren to solve problems she created. She doesn't ask them before doing this, nor does she express any remorse. Rhaenyra does what's good for Rhaenyra. Frankly, Vis should have realized a long time ago she isn't suitable for leadership and doesn't want it, made Aegon his heir, and put some work in teaching how to rule instead of letting Alicent do all the parenting. Aegon might have turned out half decent if he had.

The book establishes maelys had a chance against vhagar rather she'd actually win or not is debatable it's not impossible.
Meleys didn't have a chance of beating Vhagar, it was over as soon as they locked up.
Vhagar broke meleys leg in the grapple, then tried to drag her down go the ground. Vhagar knew meleys wouldn't be able to take flight again with a broken leg, luckily Meleys was able to stay airborne.
@@kylemma33 meleys leg wasn't broken and that has nothing to do with its inability to fly as it was still airborne when vhagar fell, the book says otherwise it did have a chance under the right circumstances.
