Daemon and Heleana meeting does remind me of the scene in Angels in America where Prior and Harper meet for the first time: "What are you doing in my hallucination?" "I'm not in your hallucination, you're in my dream!"
There are 2 or 3 references in the show itself where they mention House Bar Emmon, one of them explicitly stating that they rule Sharp Point (when Corlys mentions they are going to Sharp Point to pick up Lord Bar Emmon's nephew as a boatswain). So Ryan Condal's error is even more insignificant.
Weird fact i found: it is considered bad luck amongst sailors to rename a ship. It angers the sea gods and ceremonies are supposed to be performed before a ship can be renamed. Not sure about the renaming part but sailors still hold some old traditions like the offering up of people by hazing them when crossing the equator. There are many ceremonies performed when the equator is crossed that they are actually forbidden to speak about with anyone who hasn't done it. Having pleased King Neptune, sailors are granted the title of Shellback and celebrate all night out at sea.
In regards to Larys being a terrible spymaster this season, I think it's worth noting that his spying has always been confined to the Red Keep itself (matching the rat-changer hypothesis) and the people he can surveil over time, while most of the things he misses this season are things not primarily taking place within the red keep, or has been characters quickly entering and leaving it. He's never seemed to have a network of spies and informants like Otto and Misaria had, just an uncanny ability to know what the people in the red keep do.
i think that because he is the lord confessor and alicent a "devout" follower of the fait of the seven, they should have lean on a catholic confessor and torturer angle, and his kinky relationship with the queen. to me, being latin, this was the most obvious direction of the character. the way you made sense of the cut tongues in a gesture of devout atemp at redemption, and gatering information from the staff trough their confessions, specially of the common folk
@@albertdrevdal4233there could be a confessor for every sept on the land (and just like that you introduce another location for intrigues) with larys being at the top of the pyramid. but that would necesitate to develop the faith of the seven into something interesting that people could consider an important part of their spiritual life, and i dont think they are capable of that.
Because then the middle aged people who watch the show won’t have any scenes where they can point at something on screen and be like “I understand that reference! That’s a reference to something from the hit HBO television series Game of Thrones based on the hit book series A Song of Ice and Fire by the talented author George double R Martin!”
Because Rhaenyra must be the chosen one undisputed hero. Can't have a morally grey conflict when one side are the prophetic heroes trying to save the realm and the other are the cartoonishly evil power hungry usurspers who cannot even stay loyal to each other as a team.
Doughty is a GREAT word! It means brave AND persistent, and in his scenes with her, you noted how dedicated he was to returning to "but you will sail for us, right?" Throwing in a great archaic word - with accuracy! - makes me weirdly happy.
They have shown Dreamfyre on-screen at least 2-3 times - when Aemond runs into her during the "Pink Dread" scene and then there's a few long distance shots from Laena's funeral. So *some* kind of model of her exists.
I think rhaenyra pulling away from daemon when he leans in has more to do with not wanting to be seen as feminine and to project strength in this moment

Its unfortunate because June I was beyond hyped waiting many months prior for the release of HotD S2, The Boys S4, and The Bear S3, and every single one of those shows suffered the same problems (In part due to the strike of course) but each and every one of those shows felt like they were meandering for longer then they needed to. It feels like an apology almost to the fans for each one like "Hey sorry this happened this time, but next time we got you!" and every show set-up an extraordinary successor season to follow, but I felt a little cheated by both, like I had already waited years for well.... not much to happen for a month and a half (granted a lot of HotD season 2 was great and the same for The Boys S4, but they all just feel like they are leading into their "Endgame" so to speak, and yet.... now we have to wait 2 more years and expect to be hyped the entire time? It just doesnt pass the smell test a bit

I never expected season 2 to be the 'war season', I always expected it to be as slow as it was, with the strategising taking precedent over actual battles, so maybe that's why I enjoyed this season a lot more than most people seemed to. BUT I will say, episode 8 did not feel like a finale at all, and when I realised it was the last episode this season I was really disappointed.

I think Daemon got the vision with the interpretation they wanted him to get. Remember, TPTWP is supposed to come from the line of Aerys and Rhaella. At this point, there are way too many Targaryens ahead of their forebear, who's currently a baby in the show. There are a "queen", a "king", whatever Daemon considers himself this week, and four princes who are arguably ahead of this kid. Add in possible claims coming from Baela and Rhaena (even Laenor if he's still out there) This isn't really about the throne or who's the "rightful heir". It's a culling.

Wild. I literally looked you up last night cuz I said “man the good singer who likes dragon shows hasn’t posted in a while”
Two quick things because if I start I won’t stop:
1. Hey Rhaenyra, remember how like a month ago your son was eaten alive? Remember how angry you were? Where the fuck did that rage go for this entire season?? I don’t think they said Luke’s name once in season 2.
2. Hey Rhaenyra, remember how the news of Aegon’s usurpation literally caused you to miscarry your only daughter Visenya? Remember how the books make it clear you blamed Alicent and Aegon and all the rest for her death? Why did you not bring this up in the _two scenes_ you had with Alicent??
Must have this comment committed to video with that incredibly condescending Daenarys smile for every "Hey Rhaenyra"
Because the script is bad
I honestly think I will spend more time in the future rewatching Dragon Time than I will the actual HOTD Season 2

Bringing up the winds of winter(which I agree with most of the criticism directed at george for it) is irrelevant to this story and adaptation which is more like a bad fanfiction, sorry if an author calling out the butchering of his work by two arrogant people who vastly overestimated their abilities got under your skin.

47:13 You can an actually definitively see Dreamfyre in season 1 episode 7. Not the shot with basically all of the dragons early in the episode where there’s maybe Dreamfyre or maybe Seasmoke off to one side, but the shot towards the end of the episode after Rhaenyra is cut when the greens leave Driftmark, you can see Vhagar, Sunfyre and Dreamfyre flying away together

@@LoBaSmoke fortunately the show does not take place on this earth… i think…
Yeah but the ship was also massively rebuilt at the same time. Maybe that's enough to justify a new name.
I had this same exact thought. I think there are a few exceptions to this, but I’m too buzzed to think of them rn.
i think that because he is the lord confessor and alicent a "devout" follower of the fait of the seven, they should have lean on a catholic confessor and torturer angle, and his kinky relationship with the queen. to me, being latin, this was the most obvious direction of the character.
the way you made sense of the cut tongues in a gesture of devout atemp at redemption, and gatering information from the staff trough their confessions, specially of the common folk

Never thought this would actually come out. But I'm happy it's here!
I’m so sick of this show trying to connect itself with game of thrones. Why can’t it just be a self contained story about a Targaryen civil war?
Because then the middle aged people who watch the show won’t have any scenes where they can point at something on screen and be like “I understand that reference! That’s a reference to something from the hit HBO television series Game of Thrones based on the hit book series A Song of Ice and Fire by the talented author George double R Martin!”
@@AesirUnlimitedmember berries
Game of thrones rushed the white walkers to get to the dragons. House of the dragons slowly brings in white walkers to ignore the dragons.
@@AesirUnlimited I don't think it's middle-aged people specifically. 🙄

Add in possible claims coming from Baela and Rhaena (even Laenor if he's still out there)
This isn't really about the throne or who's the "rightful heir". It's a culling.
Is Dragon Time based on Grrm's book Schwire and Gloob?
I've watched the full length version on Nebula already but I'm still here to support and see what Glidus clipped as the best 2 1/2 hours of it 😂
