- Pokémon events on the DS games ended a very long time ago, or did they? Technically yes, but with the DNS method it is still possible AND you can get them all! This is a tutorial for Gen 4 & 5 both, and I hope it helps you!

brother I live in Europe, the Netherlands. have a 2DS and a NEW 3DS XL and it keeps saying Download failed.
Even when I want to go to the nintendo WFC settings in-game it says:

Hope when the 3DS looses its online capabilities the community will find DNS codes for the mystery gifts and to revive online features such as battles, wifi plaza(In S/M/US/UM) and many other features that will be missed.
There's Pretendo Network for that, but you'd have to mod your console
You could just use PKSM to inject Mystery Gift events

For those asking, you don't need to change your time, date, location, or any other settings on your DS/3DS to get these event Pokemon. Whatever events are available in certain regions, they're accessible in those specific region cartridges. Using this method, you can get those event Pokemon at any time regardless of location! Just make sure they're the right cartridges if there's a certain event you want.
Important note: The events are random, so expect the same or different events showing up in the mystery gifts multiple times in a row. Think of it like an RNG system. Yes, all of these Pokemon are legit.
So just to be sure, I can transfer these up to Home with no issues?

@@TeaOverdose yes, they are 100% legit. I think the events had set markers and when they arrived to the actual cartridge they would get the rest. They even pass online checks

I can't guarantee this is the issue you guys have, but I have multiple copies so this might help. I used the top DNS setting, and on system 1 it took 2 tries to work. On system 2 it only took 1 try, and on system 3 I couldn't get it to work. I suspect this to be because system 3 used a Japanese copy instead of English, so mayhaps it only works with USA copies. I'll try more tomorrow though.
I cannot believe this actually worked. I was able to get Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, ALL SHINY BY THE WAY, a ticket to the island where you can catch Victini, Meloetta, Genesect, Darkrai, Deoxys, and a SHINY METAGROSS.. along with others in my copies of Pokemon White and White 2

What are the pokewalker routes even for?
@@mauricioalvarez4611back in the day they basically gave you a pokewalker and it would encourage you walk around. The more steps you took the more likely you were able to get a rare mon. There were different routes you can take some were exclusive I unfortunately never got the chance to get. You would set it up before you extract a mon to put into the pokewalker and then transfer it back when you got home. The screen on the pokewalker would light up if it encountered a pokemon
Yeah it just lets you take a pokemon with you on the go to "walk" with you, letting it gain levels and experience depending on how many steps you take. Each route has an item pool ) varying rarity determined by how many steps on the route you've taken) and mon pool that you can catch (up to two you can import back I think?). Every 20ish steps give you 1 "watt" where you can spend on the pokewalker to encounter a pokemon or search for an item. Iirc your mon can also find items and watts for you if you don't check it for a while while walking
Fun as a kid for feeling closer to your mons, but there were also some neat routes to get harder to obtain items. There was also a Pikachu route that let you catch a Pikachu with surf and another one that knew fly

For anyone doing this make sure you don’t have another WiFi router saved onto your settings and in proximity to you otherwise your 3ds/2ds/dsi will connect to it messing up the dns settings.
So you gotta do this outside or something? Or can I just delete the settings off the 3ds?

Ive done this in gen 5 before, but I straight up thought it was impossible for me to do it in gen 4. Thanks for specifying what i needed to set up for gen 4!
Also theres some unofficial stuff here apparently. I just got the unused Lock Capsule, so i can see that unused Pokemon history!
Yeah it gave me the azure flute lmfaoooo. For some reason it lets you also claim duplicates of many of the events as well. I have like 5 darkrai, 3 manaphy, and 4 regigigas.
Something else that I thought was pretty cool is that my fake pokemon pearl cartridge was working with it as well lol.

@@Mimiyan_or_Pikapikafan yeah there were two different darkrai messages but for the one that said "the rise of darkrai" it let me collect it multiple times.
Okay update after testing between my fake pearl and legitimate diamond copies: it seems like you're only allowed 3 darkrai, 2 regigigas, 2 shaymin, and 4 manaphy per copy of diamond or pearl (idk about platinum and I'm sure the gen 2 remakes have different event pkmn). The message when you're collecting the mystery gift seems the same almost every time but they all have different OTs when you inspect them in-game (even though their movesets and levels are all the same). The 3 darkrai do have the same OT but different ID numbers. All of the others have a limit of 1 per game.
All of it is unofficial. What’s actually happening is someone out there is hosting a server that pretends to be the official pokemon distribution server. When you change your DNS, your console attempts to contact the official server for distributions but is instead redirected to the unofficial one where it’s fed the event data.
These “events” aren’t truly the event pokemon either, but just pokemon that look as close as possible to the official event ones (which might as well be the exact same anyways) and the wonder cards are edited to look exactly like what the original event cards said. This also means whoever’s hosting the unofficial event server can create any kind of distribution they want, including adding ones never meant to have been distributed.

I’m still trying to figure it out, i have 3 WIFIs registered in my 3ds, the first one is the router i am trying to use for this thing to get those event pokemon, i changed dns as you said, but when i get in the game white and white 2, it says i have to reach out for help (support team etc…) and then asks me if i want to try again, does this have a relation with the fact that my router has a password to be able to connect to internet, or maybe because all 3 connection blanks are full and that i only have to save one internet router in it. (Sorry for my english)
Yes use an android mobile Hotspot where you can remove the password.
@you have to use a router with low wpns or (however it's spelled) a good reliable way to do this is by using a phone hotspot with no security

How did you get all the gifts? I'm trying in Pokémon Black, I keep changing the date but it only cycles through ~5 gifts.
Worked for me last night, both GTS trading and mystery gifts on both Gen 4 and 5, appreciate the video! Some parts were easy, some hard and had to try different things. If anyone is stuck ask me I may be able to help from the little I learnt last night :)

I'm trying to get the mystery gift on my Black copy, but it still gives me the 20110 problem, I didn't have problems with the connection but I don't have a clue of what could be the problem
@ are you trying Mystery Gift, or GTS? Be mindful they have a separate server (took me a while to realise this lol as I was using the connection for GTS thinking it’d work for Mystery Gift)
I also had an issue with Black 2 (so I guess it will be the same for you, as it’s both Gen 5) but apparently with a bit of research I read that as they came out later than Platinum etc, they’re wifi settings are more advanced, and won’t let you change the wifi settings that have been used years prior (eg, I hadn’t connected my copy online since over a decade prior, with a normal wifi router without messing with DNS settings etc)
I read that the solve (which worked) was by putting the cartridge in another ds system, I put it in my 2DS and it said something along the lines of deleting previous wifi settings, which will delete your PalPad or something (which I was obvs fine with)

I made a video on this for Gen IV events a few years ago, I'm glad there's a way for Gen V as well, I lost my copy of Black that had my victini on it as my starter essentially, so I'm glad I can try to recreate that experience now!
I don't consider these "Hacked" at all. What about you? It's like the Duplicating Trick in Gold and Silver. I can Duplicate any Pokémon within the Virtual Console. It would still pass off as a Legit Pokémon. Do you think we're morally wrong for this? It's not like we're just clicking "Shiny" through an Action Replay.

You don't NEED an Android mobile hotspot for Gen4. If you have access to your home internet router, just set up a 2.4Ghz access point. Windows 10 computers can also tether their Internet with their Wi-Fi card, adjust the settings to broadcast 2.4Ghz and no/low password security.
I have tried with my wifi, doesn’t work, i’m so lost, my access point has strong password, also it’s gen 5
I was wondering why on earth it would matter if it was wifi from a cellular hotspot or router.
But how can I access my internet router ?
Modern routers usually use the WPA protocol for authentication. The original DS didn't support WPA; only the much-weaker WEP. You're right that it needs to be 2.4GHz, because the DS pre-dated 5GHz Wifi, but a DS can't connect to a 2.4GHz access point unless it's using either WEP or no encryption. Because they were made to work on the original DS and DS Lite, the Gen4 games can't use WPA either.
The Gen5 games are DSi-enhanced. Among other things, that means they can use the full DSi wifi, which supports WPA.
Setting up a persistent 2.4GHz access point on your home router with WEP is a really bad idea; it's better than having no password, but not by much, as it's a very weak form of encryption that any modern phone can bypass in minutes, if that. Using a mobile hotspot is a decent workaround; You turn it on when you need it, then turn it off when you don't.

I used the top DNS in the description (167.235.229.036) in the Primary DNS tab with nothing in the Secondary DNS tab and it worked for me, Make sure you are also connected to the correct Wi-fi network along with the password as I was connected to an older network that is no longer in use- you will need to put the Wi-fi name and password in manually as it doesn't search for it itself, so make sure that is correct. I managed to get Pokemon on black and black 2 games on english games, select mystery gift then click connect to Nintendo WFC which I believe is the second one down as the others won't give you the mystery gifts. I hope this helped!

Thanks, I just got Liberty Pass in Pokémon Black and I was able to catch Victini and I also got Keldeo, Meleoatta, Mewtwos, Darkrai, and a Shiny Dialga.

I homebrewed my DS and just injected events into my savegame but this here is probably even cooler and needs no homebrewing. The pokemon can NOT be distinguished from legit event claims therefore no worries for people who might fear being Nintendo banned. Though I do recommend to set your DS time to a date where the events were given away. It just looks better but the problem with the DNS/Wifi method is, that you dont know what events you get, you just get all existing events one by one, which makes the time changing a real hassle.
Hello! Random guy *very* new to the ds modding scene, how exactly did you ‘inject’ events and is it possible to do it in gen 5?
I only recently learned how to un region lock a Japanese 3ds and currently planning on reliving my childhood after learning I still had almost all my old games (like BW2 lol) still functional and in good condition so any info helps. Thanks 👍
@@jblockminermc5401 I don't know if it's the way OP did it; but if you're using a 3DS, there's a piece of homebrew software called PKSM which can edit the save directly, and you can inject Wonder Cards with it. And it works with DS cards just fine - all you have to do is insert the card into the 3DS's slot and PKSM will detect it.
I also own a homebrew DS and a normal 3ds xl and got them before the eshop closed for Pokemon
I don't think the date matters because you technically can wait however long you want to pick up the event pokemon.
There's also a GTS replacement that works for both gen 4 and gen5 games, it's called Poké Classic Network

I had to open a Guest-WiFi and connect over the ingame WFC settings, because the Dsi Binaries were missing on my rom. Thus the general 3ds settings couldnt be used

Just be warned if you do this that it takes a while. You get the events, but it's random what event you get. Especially when you get down to the end, it can be a pain in the butt to get the remaining events. Check a repository like Bulbapedia or Serebii first so you know which events are out there. Or just roll the dice. A lot.
Oh, and they also give you unreleased (but still available in the code) events too - like the Spear Pillar Arceus. I think that one does not pass a legitimacy tracker because of its unreleased status.

Hi man, i tried for some time but on my pokemon b2 it worked and got almost every gifts (didnt change date and all this stuff) just going with the other dns in description. Thx a lot man, i could'nt believe it in the first place but thank you so much❤️❤️
Something that shuld be noted is that for DsOG/lite plus any ds/3ds console using the gen 4 games is that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE AN ANDROID WIFI HOTSPOT. This seems to be something everyone that has done a subjet on this fails to mention. Yes you can do this as this is the simple way if you have android phone of course. But! Almost any modern router should have the option to make a 2.4 ghz wi-fi network. It's best to make a guest network where there will be no password to type in anyway. You also do not have to type in the SSID stuff in the DS at all as the network should appear when searching for an access point.
Our router has both a 5 and 2.4 at all times should check it out sometime then
the issue isn't just whether your router/hotspot or whatever is broadcasting at 2.4ghz. the main obstacle is that the DS only supports WEP for wireless security, which is horrible and can be trivially cracked, whereas routers at a minimum support WPA2. setting up a fully unsecured 2.4ghz network on your router just isn't a good idea

Yep just setup an unsecured guest network. Turn it on while getting the cards, then shut it off right after. Works like a charm

i got the shiny creation trio, which is awesome cause i actually modded in the event giratina on my old file! i also got a shiny metagross and a shiny larvitar along with a bunch of legendaries!
Knew about these and always pass them off to people, so now I have another video to send lol.

Amazingly this worked for me, i grew up playing pokemon white and its so cool to get these pokemon to fill the dex without spending a assload of money :)
would love to get a genesect, and as what was said in the video. I myself view these as legitimate pokemon. it's the same now as it was back in the day to get them but obviously different methods are used. and who knows if any of these will ever be added again back into the series. after having a bunch of event pokemon that were put into BANK and forgot about and then erased because BANK was horrid about that lol.. I'll gladly get these back again even if they are not mine officially. Here's hoping in the future if they do remake black/white on switch then maybe we'll get some more back from previous games too.
I see them as completely legitimate as well. We're not just creating them in the wild by the use of an Action Replay (Even though I have one). I have a buddy who considers these "Hacked", but I respectfully disagree.
it took a couple tries to get the DNS settings to work, not sure why but i had to delete my connection settings twice and then add it again before it would allow me to connect. but i got it working on my copy of black 2 and my first mystery gift was a shiny metagross! thank you so much for this video!

Quick note. This still works as of today in September 2024. Also quick tip, this also works for downloading the world tournaments at the Pokémon world tournament in driftveil city

@@wasuh464 not much to say except follow the DNS set up in the video, go to the PWT in Driftveil, access the black computer and select download tournaments and you'll connect to Nintendo WFC vis your hotspot and should get access to the tournaments. It wasn't working for me when I initially tried it because I was using a DNS code from a different tutorial video, then I tried this videos DNS and it worked. Just got to keep trying.

That's too bad they aren't timed. I think it'd make them feel a bit more special like they once did, if they were only available at specific times of the year, and you could only get one of each per save
@@wolfybuilder Thats still the case. If you redeemed that event Pokemon on your save you cannot get another one. It's just that there isn't a distribution limit as the costumers in that time that came to redeem them were obviously allot. But that doesn't mean you can get more than 1 per save file. It still recognises your game and if you already got one.

Shiny Genesect is actually obtainable through this method. He just didn't show it. It was given out from 13 July 2013 - 20 September 2013.
I'm researching right now, but I'm pretty sure that it's only available in the Japanese versions of Black 2/White 2. Not in the international versions
This video was awesome. Just wanted to throw it out there. I tried this with Soul Silver a few different ways, but using your method and it worked. I tried it on a DSi, a DSi XL, a 3DS XL, and a N2DS XL. I used Twilight on a hacked DSi, an R4 cartridge on a non hacked DSI XL, I used the real cartridge on the N2DS XL, and used a backup on a hacked 3DS XL. All of them surprisingly worked. I don't have a fake/repro game cart, so I can't say if that worked but if it works on emulators and an R4 from 2017, it'll probably work on anything lol. Thank you again
It still worked for me for fifth generation. I tried with the first dns in the description. Also you have to connect wifi and not wps because it couldn't work. I deleted all other wifi connections and only keep one of the 3 spaces, the other two in blank. Hope it could help others.

You can get all the pokemon you received in white 2 in white 1 too... I received the same ones in black 1 and black 2... The only difference i either have (or it was by coincidence) is that i also received Zekrom in black 1 and reshiram in black 2....
Can confirm it still works, make sure youre changing the dns and not the ip, i accidentally did that twice and almost gave up.
what dns did you use and did you put secondary dns as al 0
I used 178.62.43.212 for the primary DNS and left the secondary in Pokemon soul silver. I might be misremembering I'll have to look later

Regarding the legitimacy of the Pokemon from these events: They're on the same level as 8F Mew glitch. In other words, completely legitimate. This isn't the first time someone changed their settings to obtain pokemon previously thought to be unobtainable, and it won't be the last.
That's what I like to hear! I have a buddy who sort of sees them as "Hacked". I wouldn't use that term, but I understand what he's saying. We're not in a lab creating these Pokémon either. I see them 100% legit like you. This is different. I have an Action Replay, but I'm not just making them pop out of the sky.

this still works 4/24/24. you may have to delete your save file though, that was why i was getting error code 60000 on my White 2 version.

May 17 2024 - Pokemon Platinum version works
I have been using many tutorials and this is the one that has worked for me. Yesterday I bought a Pokemon Platinum copy for really cheap price and decided to try this out. Thanks for making it to the point and actually effective.
For anybody trying for the Platinum version, you will need to use the Nintendo WFC that appears in-game. Do the same as he did in the video. I also used an Android Hotspot with no password.

For some reason, I've gotten this to work with my copy of White, but not Black 2. I've tried everything I can think of, but it keeps giving me the 60000 error.

Has anyone got a list of what Pokemon you can get? Since you get duplicates and basically just have to keep pressing A Idk when to stop and I feel a checklist would be very helpful. (Im specifically doing white 2 atm though I plan on doing heart gold and soul silver as well).

I finally got it to work for Gen 5!! Time to start ribbon collecting
For me this worked well earlier this year, but recently it doesn't. I have tried both internet and mobile hotspot, all the dns' I could find, I've tried on my ds lite, dsi XL, 3ds and 2ds, but I just keep getting a variety of error codes. I don't understand why it worked earlier this year and not now, but I'm guessing the servers are unstable or down. I'm not sure, but maybe there's a difference between Europe/Asia/US?

UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2025:
This DOES work, however in my copy of white 2 I had to input the “other” option for the DNS code.
Also when you choose your WiFi (how you want to connect), I had to choose “Get Via Nintendo WFC” then “yes”. It will connect you, search for a gift, and you shall receive a gift. This is after clicking “mystery gift” in the main menu, then clicking “receive gift”.
You will be loading into your game, then go to ANY Pokemon Center and speak to the man with the blue hat on the left side just after entering and you will receive the gift. Make sure you save your game before starting up the game before claiming the rest of the gifts. Hope this helps someone.

Tried this several times and after entering the IP, the DS asks for a Internet Conection test and it doesn’t work.

It works. It's not the IP you need to change, it's the DNS, maybe that's your issue.
I'm very happy this is a thing. Game Freak made Deoxys and Shaymin, some previously event exclusive Pokémon, available in newer games, so I say these Pokémon are legit.

Not helpful, but my Japanese B2 won’t connect either. I have 2 copies of English Black, and then English White and White 2, those all worked. Maybe it’s just Black 2 specifically for some reason that doesn’t work?
Technically you can set this up on a router on for the Nintendo DS games but the SSID would have to have open or WEP security enabled which either of the two is considered insecure. I have a SSID on dedicated VLAN that automatically goes to the DNS so I don’t have to change the WiFi setting on the game card and it works! But that it is usually not for someone who isn’t that great with tech. Still good video explaining the basics!
I've tried both DNS settings for Black 2 and neither worked. It tells me Wi-fi services have been discontinued. Error code 20110. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

actually for the 3DS family of systems the secondary DNS does matter if you plan on using normal internet in your console at the same time, using a public DNS or the one provided by your ISP

Having an issue with my copy of black, I used the first dns and was able to receive all gifts over wireless on my dsi for platinum, however when trying to do so with black i cannot connect. I've tried with both dns, on my dsi and on a 2ds, I've changed the date, I've turned off power saving in my Hotspot, and it simply will not connect to receive mystery gifts, anyone have similar issues / fixes?
