    Eating oatmeal can spike bloodstream sugar levels if you choose instant oatmeal with added sugar or consume too much at once.
    However viewers don’t listen to everyone on the internet go do your own research
    You can read more on the site
    national institute of health about how it reduces insulin response. And how great it ACTUALLY is. And if you measure your oats with a scale most people reading this probably have ate 4 servings every meal thinking there eating healthy and they ain’t: lol
    Also if the oatmeal that you can cook in 1 minute will spike your levels because it breaks down faster and gets converted quicker but they actually make another oat called steel cut oats which take longer to cook and break down slower so you won’t have the issues you’re having maybe? Worth a try if you miss em.

      @@vacaloca5575 Really? You think that makes sense? A food known for being slow digesting with a GI of like 40 (without the milk that lowers it even more) is going to give people insulin resistance?
      Do you think apples give you insulin resistance too? Because apples have an insulin spike comparable to oatmeal.

    • @vacaloca5575
      @vacaloca5575 10 месяцев назад

      @@RmnGnzlz Well, you'd be surprized at what gives insulin resistance. It also depends on your age and activity level. If you are a young athlete, you probably won't get it from eating a bowl of regular sugar-free oatmeal every day, but if you are over 50 and sedentary, then you might, especially, when the oatmeal is mixed with other carbs such as the lactose in milk or the sugars in the fruits you add to it.
      On the GI for regular (not instant) oatmeal, you may want to check again, as I get 55 when I google it, and that's a bit too high for some people, especially, for those with metabolic problems.
      I don't think fruits eaten by themselves give insuline resistance in healthy people, but for those who already have it, the combination of different carbs and even different types of fruits at the same meal may make it impossible for them to regain insuline sensitivity. It all depends where your are.

    • @aeckelbarger
      @aeckelbarger  6 месяцев назад +1

      If your goal is to lose body fat (big difference between losing fat & weight) then I would avoid oatmeal since it is a carb. Eating too many carbs leads to fat gain because insulin (which is needed to process all carbs & sugars) will push sugars & carbs to the muscles, liver or fat cells. If you have plenty of glucose in the muscles & liver then the only place to store excess carbs is the fat cells. People falsely believe that just being in a calorie deficit causes fat loss which is very misleading.

    • @brutus0329
      @brutus0329 6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for replying and for the great advice. I'll have to dig deeper into this. You have me intrigued and also even more curious, especially on what you said about there being a difference between losing body fat and losing weight. Not at all trying to sound dumb here but I didn't think or realize that there was a difference between the two. Just one last question and I'll quit buggin' ya. If you recommend quitting the oatmeal, what would you recommend I replace it with? What foods should I lean towards instead if the goal is to keep the weight down?

    • @aeckelbarger
      @aeckelbarger  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@brutus0329 The difference between losing weight & body fat is that weight loss can mean anything (losing water weight, burning off of carbs & worse yet which I see all the time burning muscle tissue), just because the scaled says there is less weight doesn't mean it was body fat plus muscle weights more than fat so the scale can be very misleading. It is your body composition (lean muscle to fat ratio) that you should be looking for improvement. If you want to lose fat, you have to manage carb intake, not fat intake. Carbs are only needed to replenish the muscles & liver for energy, they do not build muscle. My typical breakfast is 6 whole eggs cooked in coconut oil or 5 whole eggs & 2 strips of bacon. People do not realize that 50% of the protein you take in converts to glucose (same as carbs) but do not require insulin to rise much & that will allow you to burn more fat as your main energy source. You can only burn one energy system at a time, glucose or fat.

Oatmeal can cause rapid changes in blood sugar which can trigger a migraine, you have a Avenin sensitivity which can cause coeliac-like responses like headaches or you are just sensitive to that type of food. You may want to try some all natural grits (not fortified or enriched with folic acid) to see how you respond. Hope that helps.

      @@jaekamacho1416 Okay, thanks for the reply. If you really want to lose body fat, you need to control your carb intake, especially starchy carbs. Why? Because if you want to burn fat, you need to get insulin out of the way since your body only uses one energy source at a time. Every time you have carbs with a meal, insulin has to rise to help process the carbs/sugars & insulin is a FAT storage hormone. You do not burn fat and glucose at the same time. Once insulin is out of the way, you will burn fat after you have burned off the current level of glucose reserves. If you eat carbs at every meal, the only way you will burn any fat is when you are sleeping because insulin is out of the way & your hormones use cholesterol (fat) to repair & rebuild cells. Try only having some carbs in the evening or every 3-4 days & see what happens.

    Too much dietary fat is what causes high blood sugar and high insulin when you eat carbs. I eat very high carb very low fat, 75-90% calories from carbs and 1-10% fat and when Iast tested my fasting insulin was 2.3. a1c 5.0 and fasting glucose 73.

    • @aeckelbarger
      @aeckelbarger  Год назад

      Yeah, I did that high carb low fat diet for probably 25 years, what a waste of time and effort that was, trying to eat 4-6 times a day which is totally unsustainable and hard on your digestive system. Dietary fat has nothing to do with high blood sugar, not sure where you are getting that research from. I cycle carbs only as needed to replenish the muscles and liver. The problem with a high carb diet like you are doing is insulin is elevated all the time which also causes inflammation and eventually leads to insulin resistance. I focus on protein and fat because that is what is ideal for hormones (they need cholesterol to rebuild cells), maintaining and building muscle. Carbs do not build muscle, they are simply an energy source that can be stored as fat very easily if you consume to many via insulin. Not sure what your age is but I am 60 years old and my fasting insulin is 2.4 and A1C 4.8. The good news is that you at least know what numbers to look at.

      @aeckelbarger But I'm not calorie restricting. I eat on average 2500-3000 calories a day. I just eat most of those calories in 1 or 2 meals. If I also eat a meal of only greens or non starchy veggies I dont count that as a high carb meal since they have almost no calories. I eat a lot more carbs and a lot less fat than the standard American diet. There are also many people who have also reversed insulin resistance eating high carb low fat.

      I am not a fan of bulking since all you are doing is adding excess body fat from eating too many carbs. Carbs do not build muscle, they provide energy. What builds muscle is protein & fat. Eating too many carbs creates too many issues that are not even healthy. You just need enough to reload the muscles & liver for good energy & strength. If you like oatmeal for a carb then go with that, I no longer believe the hype of how good oatmeal is for health, especially heart health which is just straight our crap. Quaker contributes to the American Heart Association to get them to say that.

      @@salmanzakani5572 Well... I weighed 120 lbs coming out of high school at 5'5" (grew 2" in college) so I had a fast metabolism. You need to focus on quality protein (amino acids to make muscle tissue) & fats (hormones need fat to rebuild cells) because that is what builds muscle. Use the carbs for restoring glycogen to the muscles & liver. I weigh 172 lbs now (I am 60 years old) so I focus on trying to get 170 grams of protein a day. Quality protein (animal protein) already has fat built into because you need fat to help digest & break down the protein (that is why mother nature made it that way) into amino acids. Not sure what your weight is so I would say if you have a fast metabolism that 2,500-3,000 calories a day is a goal to start with to see how you respond. Also, to build muscle, you need to learn how to train properly (just doing straight sets & resting isn't going to cut it) to break down muscle & then let it repair & adapt to the stress you put it under. Just eating a lot of food is not going to give you quality muscle mass is my point. There is much more to it, I know since I have been training for over 40 years & have put on as much as 67 lbs of muscle naturally (zero drugs) doing my lifetime. Hope that helps.

If you want to stay lean while adding muscle, I would have your carbs in the evening since they tend to make you sleepy because they raise serotonin which converts to melatonin. If you think just counting calories is all that matters then you do not understand how to burn fat. Calories is what big food want you to believe because it fits perfectly with promoting the garbage processed food (each anything you want, it is all about the calories). Your body only burns one energy system at a time, either glucose or fat, they do not burn simultaneously (calorie counting). Your insulin has elevate to process carbs/sugars so you will not burn fat until insulin is out of the way therefore if you keep eating carbs at every meal, the only time you will burn fat is when you are asleep because insulin is finally out of the way. The weight that is lost using a calorie counting is water, carbs & muscle tissue, very little fat. This is why people who are in a calorie deficit do not keep losing weight consistently, lose muscle tissue & consistently struggle to keep their body composition of muscle to fat where they would prefer it.

    • @aeckelbarger
      @aeckelbarger  6 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks for commenting and yes there is a lot of concern regarding glyphosates and pesticides in the different plants we eat. Try to go as organic and you can but remember that if it has a hard surface like an avocado, squash, orange, melons, lemons, coconut, etc that you are not going to eat, there is no need to buy organic.

    eating oatmeal keeps your insulin elevated? wtf lol

    • @aeckelbarger
      @aeckelbarger  7 месяцев назад

      Eating any carbs or sugars over 5 grams will require insulin to process and break them down so that they can be stored in the liver, muscles or fat. That is what insulin does.

      @@zentzu4003 Okay, I understand what you are saying. The point I was trying to make is that the insulin shuts off fat burning and if you keep eating carbs throughout the day, insulin will stay elevated.
