You've recommended millet as a healthy alternative to oatmeal, but I just watched another video and the doctor said that millet is really bad for your thyroid. I'm really having a hard time finding foods that are healthy to eat. It seems there is something bad in everything. So, if breakfast cereal is bad, anything with sugar or made with flower is bad, in fact, all processed foods are bad, too much fruit is bad, bacon and eggs are bad, millet is bad, and now, oatmeal is bad, but maybe not as bad as the other things that I've mentioned. We have to eat something so considering the alternatives I guess oatmeal isn't so bad. What do you think?
Also, I would love it if you would make a video showing what YOU ate for the entire day yesterday. This would give us an example of one entire day of completely healthy eating.
😀UPDATE 2/24 - Okay, I found a solution! It's oatmeal from - One Degree Organic Foods - It's organic oatmeal that is gluten free, sprouted rolled oats and it's certified glyphosate free and non GMO verified. I got it from Costco and it comes in 5 lb bags.

Some erroneously call it "a fast metabolism", but I just call it "lucky." You don't have to be a medical expert to understand that everybody has a unique metabolism. If eliminating oats from your diet has helped you to achieve weight loss and feel better, that's great, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee that the same food that impacted you negatively will affect others in the same way. There is different layers of what is considered healthy. Some people think just because they are not diagnosed or on medication they are healthy, but others may consider being healthy when you optimize and push the limits to make your body as healthy and fit as theoretically possible for your given age/lifestyle/etc. also saying oats is bad doesn’t mean it’s as bad as other things, and that you still can’t make it through life eating them, it’s just become a popular health trend to eat oats, which is misleading in a way. There are people who smoke cigarettes and live “long healthy” lives but that doesn’t mean cigarettes are good.

BOTH of my maternal grandparents have eaten oatmeal all of their lives. They are both still alive, in their mid nineties, and STILL have the teeth they were born with. Also, neither of them have any health issues except for hypertension that did not begin until they hit 90 years old. I will continue to eat oatmeal as they have done, because their longevity has proven to me that oatmeal is just fine to consume.

I need to take a good probiotic, eat some sour-dough bread and take a small dose of Metamucil also everyday to totally fix it with a cherry on top. Oatmeal got me cruising and I'm very happy!

I dunno. I'll take this video with a grain of salt. The doctor failed to mention the positive attributes of oatmeal such as the effect on cholesterol, the soluble fiber, and it's ability to absorb up to 100 times it's weight in water. As a personal aside, my mother suffered terribly from morning sickness with her first 3 pregnancies. When I came along she had a doctor tell her to eat oatmeal, and it greatly helped that problem. She fed me much delicious oatmeal throughout her life.

This is why people say be careful what you read on the internet. Or be careful of what you watch in this case. You can find plenty of video's that will encourage you to eat oatmeal from people who are nutritionists and health professionals. You can find videos like this one who will say the opposite. Oats are amazing for the body and digestive system and oatmeal is the undisputed champion when it comes to finding the best source of fiber. I've never known an unhealthy person who regularly ate oatmeal or quite frankly, ever ate it at all. There are plenty of proven benefits to eating oatmeal and every person I've ever met who did regularly eat oatmeal was in great shape and perfectly healthy. Sometimes common sense just has to lead the way. Oatmeal is definitely good for you.

Red meat, fish, eggs, cheese, fermented products, and non-starchy vegetables. For animal products - organic fed, humanely raised, and wild-caught only. Use your common sense. For example, if you like pork but can't find "certified humane" and "organic" labels or farm-raised pork in your area, go for other meat like grass-fed beef.
If you must eat sugar, pick sweet potatoes over grains (wheat, oats, rice) and fruits. You don't need to worry about lectins if you are 1) metabolically healthy, and 2) prepare those ingredients the right way.

Some women add (high phytase) buckwheat flour during the soaking period which is still a common practice in some eastern european countries

It’s not that simple. Food companies want us to believe it’s STILL SIMPLE - but they have industrialized nutrients OUT of food - sprayed chemicals and genetically engineered our SIMPLEST of foods so that they are no longer considered ‘food’ by our own bodies. We are getting sicker and sicker with each generation. We have to pay attention. We have to reclaim what we consume. And hopefully won’t have to turn to BIG PHARMACEUTICALs to be our savior.
‘Don’t take it personally. It’s just business, right?’ …No, this is so wrong. And generations from now, our progeny will be shaking their heads at how ‘The Free Market’ was an acceptable reason for making us all sick.

Glyphosate is used in many non-organic oatmeal brands. But many (not all) organic oatmeal products do not. It's a shame that isn't mentioned here. Also, Millet is suggested as an alternative, but Millet can cause thyroid and gastro problems, and should be avoided by people who have thyroid conditions. So, if you want to continue to eat oatmeal without the worry of glyphosate, choose an organic oatmeal brand that does not use it.

Dr. Gundry, I buy my "Sprouted" Organic-Oats from Costco. Since they are sprouted, they must have been fermented with water long enough before being dried, so I 'm assuming that sprouting process removed most (if not all) the hazardous lectins? Additionally, since they are organic, I assuming that no herbicide nor pesticide was used on these oats at all?
By the way, I freeze my bag of oats to convert a greater percentage of the oats to a resistant starch, which not only lowers the glucose effect, but also creates more of a pre-biotic food for my friendly bacteria in my gut. Thanks for producing this video!

Though I am never overweight right from time. To me, instant Oat is highly processed and not that healthy. Instant Oat spikes my blood sugar by 8mg/dl. Most of the time my FBS is between 93-104mg/dl, and after taking instant Oat it'll spike to 106-108mg/dl. I never had any insulin medication as my doctor advised me to control my blood sugar through portion control and balance diet. I do the same and it is actually amazing 😊 The Dr is just too dramatic. Lectins can be removed by soaking them overnight with water or fermenting them.

You're right, i eat watersoaked oats for decades, but now i know it's pure starch /sugar plus omega-6!!! Besides some! vitamins🤔 I've eated it in the morning (when you forget the lectins) with bananas, apple and yogurt....better than toast + marmalade or pancakes...

If I watched YT all day by the end of it I would face a life of starvation. Just this morning I am "advised" that all berries, eggs, red meat should be avoided and now oats is on the same list! Is there any food safe? Last year I was told that oats were a great anti-cancer food. Years ago we were told not to eat burnt toast under any circumstances or else we would get cancer. Should we head to the fields get down on all fours amongst the cattle and eat grass?
