great video! fixed my sticky focus...but now auto focus doesn't work ugh! I cracked it open 2x, i guess the either a wire/ ribbon got damaged or the USM fingers were damaged. Oh well....manual focus works and its smooth.

Oh, by following your video, I was able to disassemble only the front element group and clean the middle lens - which was covered with excessive dust.
To think the guy I bought the lens from some 6 weeks ago gave me a discount for me to have it cleaned! :-) Thanks again!
I was recording so it was like 2 hours…. you can do it in less time…

What Kind of lubricant you use at 6:43 ? Is it safe to use CRC Super Longterm Grease MoS^2 with this lens?

Hi, what were the problems with the AF before? I have an 85mm f1.8, that is pretty much the same, and it jumps forth and back nervously, like its juuuuuuust stiff enough on some points that the motor won't spin it.
this won’t used whole range it was stuck in middle .

@@milanbabic3243 well, I haven't fixed it, I just kept in using it with manual focus. When I have more time I'll disassemble it and maybe change the motor

hi, it is difficult to tell… something inside is loose or broken…
The felt like washer may become thin. Try to insert a shim to fix it.

Hi, yes you can try… but common issue is the motor it self… so hard to tell
My lens stopped focusing at infinity. It doesn't beep because it doesn't focus. In closer she focuses perfectly. Could it be that lack of lubrication and the claws you adjusted? My lens fell out once.

The only way I can possibly achieve all that disassembling/putting all together back again - with my (lack of) technical skills - is playing back the video backwards halfway into it.

most likely is flexi cable disconnected… go and follow video for steps on how to open lens to see pcb and all connectors.

let me double check sth with you, this lens focus OK (on EOS 6D) until it starts to stuck on a point and starts looking for the F-point and goes in and out like it's on AI servo or something. so, should I fix it this way as you did beautifully ?
If I can do this actually I don't need the fix the lens. I can produce my own lens😅
