Rest in peace, Quartermaster of Snarky Puppy. I don't think I ever cried for a person I did not personally know like this. Wish I had had the chance to see him live :(.
I did see Shaun and Snarky Puppy for my birthday. I can confirm Shaun was exactly like this in person. He heard my best friend scream it was my birthday and he started an impromptu birthday song + photo afterwards. Truly a joyful spirit and being. ✨
RIP Shaun. This video has 2.8M views and I'm pretty sure at least 500k are me listening on repeat. We all miss this amazing musician and person, but at least his music will play on
Larnell Lewis is one of the best drummers on the planet, and Cory Henry is in my eyes one of the greatest pianists that ever lived. He is just an alien.
@@l3gendbaap963 and they are all in the same band omggg, it’s like when you are a soccer fan and wonder what would your favorite players from different teams do together , snarky puppy are those soccer players
Is impossible not to smile hearing and watching this guys... Even now, with "Empire Central" just "out of the oven", still enjoy this tracks like the very first time... or even more...
I might be biased, but the Keyboard section always amazes me with their ability to play their keyboards with so much feeling, while using the the techniques required for those instruments - Organ, Rhodes, and Piano are different instruments - while always giving each other room to breathe. Truly special musicianship!
Snarky Puppy produces some of the best music I think I've ever heard. They are what should be defining this generation's music, not the pop crap that's spewed across North America.
OMG I've been listening to all the songs and my granddaughter has taken a strong liking to this one for some reason...my God she is dancing and rolling on the floor and waving her hands...lmbo she is having her own jam session off this song...big ups SP!! Love and respect you all! Blessings!
She feels the rhythm. Some children respond very strong on rhythmic music. My daughter did that with jazz and salsa. Have to send her this one too I realize now.
The melody line that the horns play, that simple melody and the build around it is the most enchanting thing about this song to me. That melody takes me back to New Orleans more than anything.
When I take my last breath, and they are walking my coffin out of the church, I want this to be my Recessional Music. Then again, if they play it, it might RESURRECT ME! LIFE!!!!!
I've been HEALED! 4:35 brings me right back to sunday school, 'The bible tells me so!, mixed up all in there' A friend just suggested I give a listen to Snarky, so hear I am! A new convert in the church, with the congregation all about, making music!!
they just look like they are having so much fun just being together and playing music. why can't every group look like this? music would be so much better if it were so.
Last night Michael League told me everyone in that band used to be at the same level we are. I WANT to believe that. But I feel like they were all proficient musicians at age 6
This might not be the BEST Snarky Puppy video-I'd vote for Lingus, with What About Me as a close second-but it's probably the most fun. And wow, do I need this in 2020.
I officially ant a Derges and Second Line at my funeral - THIS MUST BE PLAYED! Such an awesome composition or Praise, and Sadness, and then Glory! 6:15 cemented it for me!!!!!
How can it be that 54 don't like this music (as of May 16, 2016)? If they don't like it just move on. I can listen to this all day long. One of my favorite bands!
I've been watching this amazing musical group since 2019. This is my first time seeing this particular video. OMG..I LOVE IT !!!! I'm smiling, laughing, rock in my chair, toe tapping and clapping lol. Snarky puppy never disappoints...EVER!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely! But the beauty of it is that you can get as deep into it as you want. I could just as happily chuck Snarky Puppy on in the background while I'm just hanging out or getting stuff done, as I could lie down doing absolutely nothing but listening intently to their music, and as I could listen to and analyse it. They're so good from pretty much every angle of musical appreciation. Genius!
Snarky Puppy is for everyone. This is not 'intellectual' music, even though the composer and players are smart people. This is music that's meant to move people - to feel, to dance, etc. And it totally does.
Micheal League has said in interviews that he gives all the band members demos for them to learn by ear instead of scores to learn from sheet music. this apparently lets the band members feel the music instinctively instead of conditioning them to read the songs off of sheets it also helps that these guys have been playing and touring in snarky puppy for 17 years now, lol
OMG! This is the most awesome and nostalgic and energetic master piece I've heard. I wanted to sing dance cry shout cleanup make lemonade fry fish hug everyone and grin while listened to this!!!!! Wow!
Favorite song by em' Reminds me of that New Orleans feel, not too far from where I am growing up. So in all, it reminds me of home and where I'd lived my whole life.
"Shaun Martin on the piano, literally..." Seeing how easy the friendly banter is between them helps understand how easily they can banter musically too.
I'd love to know how people click dislike on this. I mean, even if it's not your bag genre-wise, surely you can appreciate the vibe, fun but also the skill and talent of these guys right? Strange to me.
This video is a musical pillar in my life. RIP, Shaun Martin. You and your talent will be missed.
me too, amen rest easy old friend
Absolutely devastated to hear of Shaun Martin’s passing. This song always brings me so much joy, and is a perfect testament to Shaun. RIP.
Shaun Martin, On the Piano. Rest in Peace

You and me both. I bawled like a baby for several minutes when I found out.
This song is probably the best way to remember Shaun Martin. I hope it continues to be played in tribute to him by the rest of the band.
RIP Shaun Martin 💔

Snarky Puppy is like a musician all-star team. So sick.
Very far from a all-star musicians, more in this musical genre, but really close indeed. awesome group.

Even my 3 years old was so happy listening this. Thank you so much for the gift Shaun Martin. I'm really sad.
Rip Brother.

Rest In Paradise Shaun Martin !!!
I'm a simple musician: I hear a snazzy trombone solo, and I smash that like button with obliterating force.
Repeatedly
It's a worthy solo.
don't break your finger!
You must dig you a li'l Watrous.....
Our world needs moar trombone in it.
I just discovered Snarky Puppy today. I’m a new fan😎
Rest in Peace Shaun Martin, you will be missed ❤
that bluesy piano solo at the end is sooooo fucking good
its gold. wait no, gold isnt worth that

They Took It To Church...! Love It..
Rumor has it, to this day, Michael League still hasn’t met Shaun Martins parents.
That rhythm section is jaw-dropping levels of good.
5:03 The international gospel riff. That part hits home.

"Shaun Martin on the Piano....literally ON THE PIANO"....haha this make me laugh every time! Great band, great guys, great music!
Snarky Puppy does dixie-land jazz!!! great stuff
Shaun Martin on the piano, Literally "ON the piano" (@8:20)
There's no such thing as dixie-land jazz
+Jordan Johnson Yes there is....It was the first type of jazz to ever be recorded.
+Adam Wechsler it's called trad
This is straight up gospel. I can see the minister coming out and start speaking in tongues! (grin)
When I take my last breath, and they are walking my coffin out of the church, I want this to be my Recessional Music. Then again, if they play it, it might RESURRECT ME! LIFE!!!!!
The Brass section was beasting!!!Just simply beautiful!Everybody was wonderful!!
Best band I've ever heard hands down! This doesn't make any sense!
That bass line at 7:56!! They could have rocked that groove all night!
Killing.
Indeed
Even without the wonderful trombone, there is definitley a New Orleans vibe going on here.
I've been HEALED! 4:35 brings me right back to sunday school, 'The bible tells me so!, mixed up all in there' A friend just suggested I give a listen to Snarky, so hear I am! A new convert in the church, with the congregation all about, making music!!
Oh ok, I thought it was "when the saints starts marching in."
SEVEN YEARS!
It's taken the algorithms that long to recommend this feast for the spirit
I was today years old when a new life began
There are two types of people in the world. Those who have heard Snarky Puppy; and those who have not. Welcome to the SP family :)
@@JonathanAdshead thank you brother, it's like coming to a home I never knew was there.
I'm having a fine old time working through the catalogue :D
0:16 when the bassline starts. got damn shit. sooooo good
RIP Shaun Martin
A “taste of New Orleans” from the new “young lions” of jazz. This made me smile and dance this morning!
7:24 Everyone fading out be like: "Let's just let Shaun do his thing"
This is what the LOVE of music looks and sounds like amongst musicians!
My exact words!!! Extensions of their souls for everyone to hear!
Everytime I hear these guys I'm amazed. Nothing better than a tight ass horn section, to go along with everything else.
Out of this world outstanding!!!!
I wish there was video feed dedicated to sput
his hands are lightning
Reminded me of "Birdland" by Weather Report. I like how the band encircles those listening to them; what an experience!
I love love love Birdland!! So glad you gave omage(?) to them. I just got the serious feels!!!!!!
Вот воистину музыканты достонные всяческих похвал и уважения.... Как нежной лапкой п о душе... Слушаю и переслушиваю многократно
The organist really put his body into it!!!! Love it, lol
Cheers Shaun Martin. 🎉🎉🎉
First song I thought of when hearing of Shaun's passing. Thank you for the music, man!

I just purchased the "Ground Up" album. It rocks. They really know how to bring Jazz Fusion.
Shaun Martin + Cory Henry + Bill Laurence is amazing

Either Shaun Martin or Cory Henry is my spirit animal; not really sure which yet.
Why not both?

A message to the trombonist. Man... I've been in metal pipes business for ages and there's no way, you must be able to pull that one out completely!
