Shaun, how you lived and loved music was always magical.
11:29 this ending… that shot of the two just after Shaun rips pure soul out of his body… RIP truly
Can we just appreciate how three drummers manage to sound like one person playing ??
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
@@LarnellLewisMusic I haven’t played drums regularly in like 10 years but you are inspiring me to pick it back up one video at a time 😁😁
I like the approach to using drummers like a bunch of Nate Werths. Respect to all four percussionists for making room for each other and playing the shit outta that groove
@@LarnellLewisMusic you have inspired to take up back drumming.
Love from Jamaica🇯🇲. Hope to meet you someday.
yes, its incredible. 😍😍😍
Rest in perfect peace Shaun 🕊️❤️
RIP Shaun Martin 🙏🏼 🎶you will always be remembered
The groove on this one is deeper than wherever my pennies get lost inside my couch. Heck yeah!
Omg hi
Your channel is what introduced me to Snarky Puppy. I kept hearing you name drop them until I caved and decided to check them out, and for that I'm extremely grateful.
@@andrewxu3602 same experience lol
@@andrewxu3602 same here, forever grateful!
*penies
My favorite party of any snarky song is when Shaun gives up playing cause it’s too good
lmao, same.
Lol. He's the freaking man
Snarky puppy. The art of bringing 30 musicians into a room and everyone knows their place into the mix. Amazing production and recording.
Also, the art of bringing 30 1st chair musicians into a band and everyone is happy just being a part of a team… that alone is amazing. To get musicians at this level to leave their egos at the door? Standing O for that alone.
Don't discredit the sound engineer, they play a big part in bringing it together
@@rehpotsirhic WORD!! The sp-mixes are made by some of the half-gods of all the decibel-deliverers....
@@rabo4686 hahaha, thank you...
30 all male musicians. Or, am I missing something? Snarky Puppy is a gay mens orchestra?
I think everyone needs a Shaun Martin in their life
Shawn was having a purely spiritual experience right here! I am all for it!!!
Right?!
what about Cory henry 😢
@@24k_gld_37 He is deeply missed. :(
@@24k_gld_37 hes doing his own thing now and is incredibly happy. Believe he was on tour when these sessions took place. Also remember that Larnell only plays on a very limited amount of shows at this point too
This was my official introduction to Shaun Martin❤
The churchyness at the end cracks me up. Rest Easy Shaun ❤
I wish you were introduced to him before. You heard thing of gold yet?
The vibe in the room is definitely as advertised!!! Love y’all!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Omg it's larnell!!!! I love you man
Larnell, you are the reason I got turned on to Snarky Puppy! I know it's random, but I first found you on the drumeo vid where you do Metallica. I started checking out some of your other stuff...and I've been down the wormhole ever since. I want to thank you for what you do, your attitude, and for giving this metalhead a reason to give another genre of music (jazz/fusion) a second chance. I've been truly enjoying the ride 🤘😁👍
@@colestowing8695 oh man!!!! Thank you so much for checking out my videos...annnddd Welcome to the Snarky Puppy Hang!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
@@gauravsaimaddipati8356 ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
@@colestowing8695 I'm so glad you had this experience! I found that video from the opposite direction - already a fan of Snarky Puppy (and Metallica) and saw Larnell's name pop up and had to check it out. Larnell's skill in picking up that whole song after one listen made my jaw drop and I was really hoping it would turn some Metallica fans onto Snarky Puppy. Really happy to hear it did!
Making it into a Snarky live video is definitely a bucket list item checked off
Same bro.
I agree, so amazing and I can't believe it!!!
Do you know how to do that?
@@FantomOfFear they sold tickets. They announced it all over their social media prior to the event.
@@FantomOfFear If you subscribe to their mailing list, they'll announce when tickets go on sale for these sessions. (Although the previous one was about ten years ago, so who knows when the next one will be?)
I love a good 5 and a half minute swamp monster intro to the funkiest shit I've ever heard
What a nice moment for Mark.
The worst thing about Snarky Puppy is only getting to experience a new song for the first time once.
Back to the roots of live album recording! Today, I feel lucky to be alive
One could argue that 2 drummers, 3 percussionists, 3 keyboardists, 3 guitarists and so on, is all too much... But when you see them playing, it's not at all about being the most virtuos player, it is all about having FUN with friends while playing music and everyone bringing what makes them unique! The one chord or the one sound effect they play is filled with technique and musical thought, but also tons of JOY! They have time to stop playing and just clap along, that's so cool!!!
3 drummers, 4 keyboardists
When playing with that many musicians, you can not identify individual Instruments anymore, like you can with smaller bands. But the soundscape that can be created with all these instruments and good musicians is just insane and so detailed and can't be compared to a small 4 Piece band.
So is it necessary? No. But is it awesome that so many musicians can play together as one cohesive Band? Definitely yes!
It's effectively a modernized Big Band concept, adapted to jazz fusion: Imagine a typical fusion band: one horn, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, and percussion. Then double, triple, or quadruple everything (except the bass) and you'd get Snarky Puppy. In fact, I think they could use a few more instruments: certainly a trombone, and maybe alto and/or bari saxes.
@@Baribrotzer they had trombones and even a string section on their GroudUP album. Not to speak of the Sylva album with the whole metropole orchestra. These were not part of the official band though.
@@creativical
I know. But they don't have a trombonist as a regular member, and I think they need one - a trombone gives warmth to a horn section of trumpets and tenor saxes.
When Jameson came back in, the room was okay with this groove literally never ending. Best $200 I have ever spent.
This is one of my best recordings ever of any song and I always had to stop whatever I was doing to watch the video as well, but it was sad to see Bernard Wright at the very end. Now with Shaun gone, it is unbearable.
I wish they had put this extended version at the end of the album. The album track is amazing, but after seeing this video, you know theres so much more! They could have put both versions on the album
After several album-long hiatus from doing these video-style live albums, it feels damn good to see them at it again. The human element of seeing them play and interact together is absolutely something else. These guys are continually at the top of their game and have been my favorite band for years. If you haven't seen them live you are doing yourself a disservice.
Oh yeah, that’s why you get that reaction from Shaun I imagine.
I’ve had the opportunity to see them live 4 or 5 times. Usually 9 musicians some of which may change out during long tours. I don’t know about now,but when I saw them there were no playlists, solos decided on the fly with a nod of the head from Michael League, and often one of them will add a line and they go on a rant. Great experience.
was the mix as good live?
@@jazzinstinct 100%. Michael League is incredibly meticulous with his live mixes and the team does a great job of giving you the best experience possible. Try and see them in one of their theater type shows; I've rarely experienced mixing that good at a live show with the exception maybe of Cory Wong.
@@wittyjake They should try doing a collab with Cory Wong some time.
RIP to the Dallas legend Bernard Wright. He was the gentleman dancing at the end of the video. WoW

You made me laugh out loud.
Why not

A better future for all
😂
6:31 incredible solo. What a groove.
WHY IS THIS JUST THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN.
That honor goes to Lingus :)
But this is definitely not far behind
❤️ REST IN PEACE BERNARD WRIGHT ❤️
You can feel the Mark Lettieri's touch in this song. Just great. Special attention to the synth sound at 5:34.
Yes , it sounds similar to the Baritone sessions
I feel touched by this whole piece tbh!
But yeah, nice
That's probably the weirdes chord progression I ever heard, but they resolve it so beautifully at 6:17. Damn, they're a telented bunch!
Chris' bass clarinet gave me chills - another level of depth. Bravo Snarky Puppy!
The more I watch this video, the more I love it. It might be my favorite video of all time. Thank you, Mark Lettieri, for composing this tune, and thank you, Snarky Puppy, for an amazing performance.
Shaun Martin's reaction to the organ at 10:50 is just priceless. Everybody needs a friend like him.
A true fan. His reactions are always genuine, and you can tell he hypes everyone up
Amen!
praise break loading, organ lead on
A....men.
Agreed… 😢
This is simply a masterpiece. A party, the celebration of life in the form of music. Snarky Puppy, Brazil loves you!
This sounds like a great movie soundtrack. Someone should write a screenplay around this!
They themselves are 'screenplay' ! -(open your eyes)-
Sounds like soundtrack to movie genre that doesnt exist yet. Amazing!
5:34 here starts the vibe that goes above the most higher clouds and stars of the sky.
I've been playing this song for at least twice a day for the last 3 weeks everyday .... This song touches my soul! Thank you ...
I can relate! It's so awesome. What an incredible collaboration of skill and talent.
I feel exactly the same, this music is universal and speaks to the soul beyond all boundaries

Talk about Trinity for real! That church feel at the end! 🔥🔥🔥 amazing guys!
Who doesn't like an opening with the bass clarinet?
This makes me happy on so many levels. : )
First, Snarky Puppy is just so much better with a great video production. Seeing them having fun is a real plus to their music.
Sencond, I was looking forward to hearing new stuff ever since their last album came out.
Third, having Larnell on board is a big win for any band - he is my favorite drummer.
I also am going to see them on 17th of October this year. Already saw them once in 2019, which was easily my favorite concert I have ever been to, and I have been to lots of them.
Catch them live if you ever get the chance to do so!
Sending love to all of you.
10:40 there's a moment right after an amazing musical moment like this ends where any remotely musical sound will electrify the room. even the silence is heavy
More people need to hear this. Absolutely mindblowing the organization and creativity that goes into these projects!
Thank you Snarky Puppy for introducing me into Jazz fusion but also thank you for showing us the wonderful characters that live with the band or family as you guys call it. But also thank you for giving the world Shaun Martins master pieces. Rest in Pepperoni Shaun you will be missed.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the band outnumber the audience.
Damn, this groove is so good it made my yesterday's leftover store-bought gnocchi taste like the finest dish prepared by some old nonna Francesca in a beautiful Italian village. Absolute chef's kiss! 12/10
Love that moment of triumph Shaun Martin gets there at the end; pure emotion and a fitting reaction to a job done that well. Hat's off as always to the crew; can't wait for this album to drop!
Shawn was having a purely spiritual experience right here!!!! I am here for it!!!
I don't think I've ever had an experience like Trinity. I can't think of a song that elicits as strong emotions with the 50th listen as much as the first. I have watched/listened to this video no fewer than twice a day since I first did, and as much as 7 times/day. It just fills me up every time. 💞💕💗 I am not necessarily religious but I do know church and...'nuf said
I was just thinking when I hit the end of the video, "would it be weird to go back to the beginning and watch this a second time in sequence?"... and did it anyway.
What a solo from Chris Bullock, i'm amazed
I fell like God probably has Snarky Puppy on his play list... Such talent can only come from the creator.
Love listening to their music!
I could cry, Snarky Puppy has done it again 🔥🔥🔥
A jazz orchestra by any other name. Snarky Puppy continue to rock and swing in what seems like effortless transitions between themes, solos and movements. A true delight! The essence of joy. Looking forward to Empire Central disc release. Would love to see a CD/DVD release of the album and these awesome videos. Thanks for the music and the inspiration guys.
Super-excited for this first video drop from Empire Central 😎
Amazing and courageous Mark Lettieri composition.
Any tune that starts with Bass Clarinet to set the texture is a winner in my book :-)
Can't wait for more drops from Empire Central.
On point with each comment!
Yesterday is was in Ulm with my father at a concert where they played this in the beginning. It was great
What the hell did I just come across. What is this what did I just discover. Is this new school jazz? Never heard it like this. Very well done.
This was one of the best live music experiences of my life and this song was arguably the highlight of a magical evening. Mark, this song is composed so beautifully… thank you guys for this gem while we anxiously wait for the whole album. Going to get the bikes out this weekend and jam Trinity while riding on the paths along the Trinity! 🤙
You were there in person?! 😱

shaun martin is very expressive. He always made every performance memorable
I aspire to live my life more like the man at 8:22
LOL, that's me. I'll DM you some tips!
Holy shit that guitar section playing at ~3:00 and later is so tight and crispy. Sounds like one player but with a super dense texture. God I just love these guys so much.
And it's all from memory? I don't see anyone reading. Amazing - from the writing and arranging to the playing, mixing & recording!
"They can all read music... but they don't."
Astonishing
Had to pull out my nice nice headphones for this one.
You can tell that everybody's in on the groove. I saw Maceo and roots at the New Orleans festival about 20 yrs. ago. They played a song for at least 30 minutes, and it was so grooving, nobody wanted it to end! That's how I feel about this song.
Y’all really went to church at the end 🥹🤣✨🎶 Freaking amazing as always!!! All amazing musicians!!! And THREE DRUMMERS✨All the faves!
Not one wasted note or rest. Stunning!!! My heart is pounding in my chest listening to it!
The coolest musical organization on the planet!
This song gives me “we like it here” vibes and I like it!!
I discovered Snarky Puppy in early 2020, I had never headbanged this hard in my life. Shofukan, What About Me?, Sleeper, Jambone, Lingus, Binky, Trinity, are all part of my religion.
Don't forget Shapons Vindaloo and The Curtain.
Got addicted in 2011 when they were advertised at a jazz fest with the promo video being Skate U.
Chonks has amazing melody :)
You should also add Flood to that list! 😀
The exact same tracks for me + Whitecap, Celebrity, Go and Jefe.
Plz put the extended version on Spotify. Can’t get enough of the ending😍😭
Yes please!!
Shaun Martin is everyone’s facial expressions yet again
The brain behind this production is mad... mehhnnnnn. I jsut Love. So nice
Pure butter, amazing collaboration.
Brilliant. And I am so glad you guys honored Bernard Wright like this. I can’t wait to see and hear his performances on the album. I used to go see him at the Pussycat Lounge on Monday nights 10-12 years ago with Wes and the Funky Knuckles/UNT crowd or whoever was in town and it was always something supernatural. He was somewhere between Prince and McCoy Tyner ✨
I have no words to describe it... Thank you for making me value the gift of hearing more and more.
Directly from Brazil !!!!
CANNOT stop watching / listening to this!!! Not since 'What About Me' have I been pulled into a Snarky Puppy tune like this. Almost a religious experience. Mark Lettieri is so freakin' talented. Amazing. Can't wait for the release in September!
Aw man, same here! What About Me was THE song for me and I was thinking this just might eclipse it 🤩
Same! I love everything they do but the more guitar based stuff, What about Me and now Trinity really give me the feels. I think it lies in me being a guitarist…
so much Love in that Room
My boy Larnell Lewis at it again. Unreal performance by all.
11:02 Larnell almost started a whole praise break in there
That woulda made this 100x better

Oh man, this song is so good, I watch it over and over. Groovy!
Ya'll just NEVER miss huh?
Another banger for the playlist.
your music always help me to gain focus and be calm especially when I'm studying. THANK YOU❤
"How many musicians do you need?"

I MUST see them at some point in my life. Has to be a totally different experience live. Would have never found out about Snarky Puppy if it wasn't for that Drumeo video of Larnell Lewis playing Metallica, I'd probably have never heard of Snarky Puppy, and I've been hooked since.

Oh... Here we go again... Another masterpiece. Everyone is in the right place, in terms of arrangement and in the mix, sounds outstanding. Thanks guys 🙏🏻
10:40 RIP Shaun Martin ❤
Snarky Puppy are typically inspired and with amazing musicianship... but this... this is another league of artistry... what a tune!
That first groove is almost like a musical trust-fall. There's something a little scary and dangerous about it but you still follow along. Once they get to the groove at 5:34, it's like getting to the beach after walking through the jungle.
