Imagine how fun it must be to be Michael League in moments like this. You've written some amazing music, collected together some of the best musicians in the world who are also now your good friends. And now you're all dancing and enjoying music that you're improvising while people pay you to do it.
9:12 Michael's like, okay, okay, let's have the horn break and then we are done with these shenanigans. But then Cory says, 'nope!' Three note drop and back into the vamp we go!! Stanton has no choice but to laugh and play along...
It never ceases to amaze me how funky this shit is. And then I just discovered at 0:01 Michael just casually throws out "Let's play some funky shit". Oh, sure. No big deal or anything. GOD DAMN.
+KrummyBear So true! But Sput did say they were really feelin it on this night. They just played and expanded on the grooves. They didnt have to focus on playing new tunes off a new album like the next time I saw them.
Sometimes the youtube algo works to perfection. I just watched this after watching a short clip of Michael talking about groove and explaining how a proper groove gets better the longer you keep playing it. When he's right, he's right
I like Mark’s intensity better from 4.15 in -he plays with a ferocious groove. He is living proof you have to perfect rhythm playing before being a high level lead player.
I love how the horns have to play set parts, imagine watching all your friends improvise on their instruments while you play the same parts as the person next to you, wondering why you couldnt also get one huge 10 minute solo. Seriously though I think they could have mike maher playing with and after Jennings. But all's fair in snarky's and puppies
Does anyone know how to get that guitar tone at the start? I've got a juicy clean tone going on but it just doesn't have that dirty, funkay, porn feel.....
I desperately need to know which effects Mark uses at 6:44. I'm pretty sure it's the same ones he uses for his solo on The Clearing, and I have no clue what it is.
I agree. They’re still playing at a ridiculously high level, but it’s just not as much fun. Sput and Cory brought a huge amount of extra personality to the group as well as skill. It was like Michael and Cory shared a brain at times.
If Cory yells 'oh my god' when you play then you must be fucking god
QuarterMONSTER!!! Testing how many times I can listen to the same track and not grow tired of it. Not there yet!
I'm currently on my 4th year in a row listening to this and not even close to get tired hahahha
Nine years later and I’m still making a stank face
@@Bankai2169 about to listen again!!
They musically said "Forget the song we supposed to play... Let's just jam for ten minutes!" I love it!!
Yes and then the horns came in and they where like: oh right!
Mark playing one chord and elevating the whole band is what I love about funk. That's all it takes.
That's the magic chord that elevated AWB to the top of the charts in the 70s. (Beginning of "Pick up the Pieces")

Behind the scenes it's still a lotta work, my friend..! 😥😊
@@cactus00001 worthwhile work!
That is my first option for reincarnation !!!! :)
Generally speaking, you just gotta love how much fun Michael always looks like he's having. Fucking hell these people are awesome.
That is my dream

Seriously, one bar and I'm pregnant.
And I'm talking about the *funk* and not Mike's moves.
6:02! Sput can't take it anymore! He stands up in the name of groove! HOLY GROOVE! 8:00! Now I CAN'T TAKE IT!
I love how this band can take their own songs in such wildly different directions night to night
Man, they were in rare form that night! Every video I've seen from this concert has been beyond hot!
+KrummyBear So true! But Sput did say they were really feelin it on this night. They just played and expanded on the grooves. They didnt have to focus on playing new tunes off a new album like the next time I saw them.
+KrummyBear - Yeah, but I've noticed that most of the early sets I've seen them do are a little more laid back. They were wide open on this one.
Pure joy, the whole time. Thank you
April 30, 2022, in Asheville, looking forward to hearing them live for the first time.
I just love how much fun they're all having, you can see that they're loving every second of this jam

@@dz_ca thank you
The transition back to the Quarter Master riff at 10:00 is pure funkin' genius.
so under-appreciated. Shows a really tight band.
"HEAD!!!!" ... you could tell the idea hit him suddenly too.
Have you ever seen a band have this much fun on stage? They are having more fun than we are. Watch Cory and Michael dance!
Man I wish I was there to witness this!
Your watching the next best thing my man!
This is the closest we'll ever get to isolated guitar and bass tracks for the songs from We Like it Here, these videos are a national treasure 😀
Man I had a stank face the whoooole groove!!
That ending gave me chills...
You kids are getting funky! I love it!!!
This is insane! What a change man. Wow!
I had to watch it immediately again.
Top 3 band in the world. The groove and versatility of this group is one of a kind.
Bankai2169 exactly what i said
How did the stage not catch on fire....Lawd that was brutally funky......Cory was driving that bus....whose on drums??
Ron Green robert “Sput” searight
I just want a lettuce and snarky collab. Maybe someday...
Still waiting...
Still waiting?

Mark strums one chord; listen to how intense it builds starting at 3:43
Pick up the Pieces😜

This is so funky!!!!!-

Meu ouvido agradece!!!! Tks Snarky Puppy
It was so funky I smelled it
I was imagining i was on stage singing a jam about chickenwings in a james brown voice, honey peppa......sauce!
Love this version. The O.P's "Fire" riff was fun(ky).
Micheal's face! Says it all! LOL
These guys are from outta space... Hallelujah!
totally sick:) love this!
Mike is saying to Mark at 0:01 "let's funk this up". A secret pact without the band knowing...until it's too late.
It's so great because I love funk and jam, and my husband loves metal. So I like Snarky Puppy, and he likes Skinny Puppy. hehehehehheeheheheh
When the beat drops mike put a lil jump in his groove 😂
Só awesome
My new goto when I need a pick-up. Awesome
Almost forgot to watch this today
5:36 this moment man!!
A very p-funk version... the mothership is here
I just love these guys! The spirit is so great.
Mark Lettieri with the Zapp and Roger - More bounce to the ounce groove!

Mark was made for the Fearless Flyers
Anyone know what effects Michael is using during the groove?
Listen to that happy crowd too :')

oh yea

Quarter Master: Mark Lettieri boost haha
What's the name of the effect Mark is using at 6:44? It's dope!
I'm late, but it's the Growler setting in a Line 6 M5!

Who's the guitarist?
+RamiroFarias1 The great Mark Lettieri!
As much as I love how Snarky has found wide spread success. I feel that they've lost some of this small venue grooviness.
