    The creativity of Larnell's part is mind-blowing. He's somehow keeping the groove as tight as ever while also filling non-stop and never doing anything remotely the same twice all over the kit. His mind operates on a different level. I would have been out of phrases in 30 seconds, but he's speaking a whole dissertation on the fly in his own language. And its fucking beautiful.

      Speaking of machines, you even have a perfectly played "blast beat" between bass drum and floor tom in 5:51, in first 16th note triplets and then mother-fucking-32th notes at tempo 132 (16th note blast beat at 264bpm).
      Like Mangini said once, a "blast beat" can be most musical in the proper musical setting - in jazz fusion, for example :D
      I've notated this whole, have to say it was worth it again...

    • @nenissaK
      @nenissaK 7 лет назад +5

      I guess I should, I bet people want to learn this. I posted it to Ultimate Guitar as a Guitar Pro 6 file (takes about 24 hrs for it to be accepted there it seems, never posted anything anywhere before). I marked ghost notes where they fit (and where they can be heard in the song naturally) and marked all accents and distinguished between rimshots and regular "shots" :p. I play this with my second snare on the left to the hihat even though Larnell has his on the right between his 2 floor toms. But the cowbell has to be on the right (attached to a tom for example) to be able to play the solo. But I tell you it's worth it. I used two bass drum pedals during the end of the solo because I can't do a blast beat with a single pedal at 264 bpm :D so I recommend that if you have 2 pedals, I also marked the changes in the Guitar Pro with "jalan vaihto" which is "foot change" from hihat pedal to bass drum pedal or vice versa. It took me 3 weeks to transcribe, learn, practice and memorize this and it still has much practice value (meaning that I suck :D).

    Michael League seems so unassuming, but his work ethic must be off the charts. He writes, arranges and produces most of their songs, and has to schedule tours and sessions depending on who's available and has to decide which of his guys should be featured as soloists, because they are ALL killers! He hardly ever features himself, although he is quietly one of the best bassists in the game...

      ***** I see it as jazz fusion (because of the funk and latin influences), and the arrangements make it prog.

    • @theboywholikesgaming1119
      @theboywholikesgaming1119 9 лет назад

      It's more like fusion because it has impovisation, prog in the other hand doesn't have any of it.

      Prog always had a ton of improvisation in it. I dunno what planet you are from.

    I love the haunted guitar solo. The song entitled "What About Me" meaning you are searching what are you worth for, the haunted guitar solo is like you are searching for yourself. Then on 3:30 he is building and beginning to found his notes or himself. Bob lanzietti is a master guitarist he puts adventure to the piece

      the way i interpret it is. its like a distraction and by the time he really starts playing you realize the drums are what u should have been listening to the whole time

    • @TheSeeking2know
      @TheSeeking2know 3 года назад +6

      @@jawballisticweimser4502 Hmmm. So it's like a story where the drums were showing the way and maintaining the tempo all the while but the guitarist represents a person losing their way then finding it at the end because the stability of the drum gave them a way back

    • @jawballisticweimser4502
      @jawballisticweimser4502 3 года назад +2

      @@TheSeeking2know yeah but then then in the end u get corey henry keeping tempo for the drums.

      oh my god, just like how I feel, when the solo starts it feels confusing like lost in someplace dark (a forest or somewhere) but then it finally found "the way" and just went mental...

    How good is it at 5:53 the bass player just gives the nod and Larnell shifts into top gear, I can and do watch that guy play for hours at a time. What a seriously great group of musicians. And that guitar solo was from another planet. Brilliant. Knowing Larnell had 2 hours on a plane ride over to learn the entire set. What a very special talent he is. I'd give anything just to have 10% of his talent.

      7 hours on a plane ride and 2 hours in the studio to learn the set. It's mind-binding that he did that.
