I just watched "Lingus" a bunch of times, and now I learn that the guy just losing it next to Cory Henry's soloing on that one is five-time Grammy winner Shaun Martin who is capable of doing THIS to a talk box. What the hell?

@Lap Joint: Likewise - saw his reactions on 'Lingus' and many times, I just look out for him - I knew only a guy with this level of depth could be moved to take off his head phones and take a walk in the middle of Cory Henry's soloing. ....Then he does this, 'in revenge' - It does not get any better - brutal. These guys have something 'Xtra' in their DNA. Great Band, great guys, great music. Treasured Gift to the World.

I've listened to this at least 50 times and this is the FIRST TIME that I've heard the echo effect that Shaun does with the talk box at the end of each of his phrases in the intro. It's so subtle and my brain exploded with how phenomenal that microscopic extra layer is. 0:26 and 0:45 for reference. watch his mouth and you'll REALLY be able to hear it and then you won't be able to unhear it!

I frantically shook my head at him during the take, and like a total pro, he continued filling into a second bar like it was all part of the plan. A few seconds later, there is a shot on the DVD showing the two of us cracking up. Major “phew” moment there.

Not necessarily masters but people who are really interested in music or fellow musicians. But i agree with you, this is real music imo and not some random beats with basic chords stuff and catchy melody. This thing is way more complex and can only be appreciated with your entire body and your soul. Cheers!

That's it, passion!! You said it. Passion and the killer music education that a lot of them received at schools like North Texas and Berklee. Just about every one of these guys already have Grammys with other artists. I came across these videos just last night! I had been seeing the name, Snarky Puppy, but I thought it would be more like the band Skinny Puppy, not that there's anything wrong with that. haha... It's not often that a band like this comes along. Rock bands come out of the woodwork every day. Some I like, but not many. I'm definitely pumped about this band. I hope to see them in Nashville in September.

Absolutely agree with you Deadpoolio the Amazing. Love Snarky Puppy and own all there CD's. I am a 61 year old full time musician, music educator, jazz and jazz fusion keyboardist, and child of the 60's and 70's. With the passing of so many great musicians and with what's pumped out over the radio these days, I was about to lose hope. But there are a TON of killer musicians and bands out there.(Just underground now and not signed to major record labels) Snarky Puppy happens to be sort of mainstream(now) fortunately. However I stumbled across a very unique competition called "Strange Arrange" on youtube. From there it lead me to lots of other great bands. Honestly, I had never heard of any of them. Music is still alive and well, it was soooo encouraging to see and hear. And most cool of all, in my opinion was the fact that many of these groups are made up of very young people 20's, and 30's. Check these bands out when you get a chance. "The Bottom 40",(Bottom 40 has same premise as Snarky Puppy, it's a huge lineup of "killer" and older session musicians out of Nashville Tennessee, they re-imagine a ton of covers, If you like S. P. you'll probably like them.) "Red Camp", Dirty Loops" "B.On.it Productions", "Majesty", The Funky Knuckles" lots more
