  • I built a bunch of drawers to finish out the bottom of my workbench a few months ago, but never organized them for tool storage. So in this video, I made specific dividers and compartments to hold a bunch of my tools and accessories. Enjoy!

    What do you guys think, would you change anything about these drawers?

      The only thing I'd change is to have it in my garage. :-D

      Haha - maybe you could cut a slot in the bottom of the drawer for the circular saw to sit lower and to keep the little bottles upright put some foam strips in between?

      @dianesmith5723 7 месяцев назад

      No cancel that I just watched it close again!! But I think the foam would work

    Love drawer in a drawer idea. I have often wondered how to put some of the lesser used tools in my shop along with their accessories. And then there you go. Thank you. Subscribed.

    I like the idea of keeping the accessories in the same drawer, especially the nailgun drawer with the reams of brads right on top. You know, us woodworkers are always moving things around in our shop, our we come across an idea and tear apart the last good idea. I do try to repurpose the materials though. I like to practice my joinery skills on projects for the shop, so dovetail drawers and cabinets usually just get modified. But when I built out a 16 ft wall of drawers, I made various sizes and I have a couple of deep drawers that would be perfect for fitting out with your tray system. Thank you're for sharing your ideas with us. Happy holidays!

    Now that is what I call utilizing your space efficiently. I like the double sliding trays. I just may have to borrow that idea when I build my assemble workbench. Great job!!

      Really good use of all that deep storage. Jay Bates has a really good tutorial on the sliding trays from about 4-5yrs ago. John Heisz is always coming up with crazy drawer or cabinet pull out ideas. Marc from The Wood Whisper did this exact same drawer in a drawer idea too about 2yrs ago and so did Bob from I Like to Make Stuff. Genius idea and had to this myself (when their videos came out) but to my deep kitchen drawers.

      @@NirvanaWoodWorksbyJanie Kitchen drawers are a great idea! This type of organization isn't just for the shop. I can see this in a bathroom vanity too! Such fun to build.

    WAY cool build. I have seen a few drawer in a drawer vids (usually half sized trays) which still leave a good portion of lower tier covered. Your solution covers that. Looks like you are using full extension sliders for plenty of clearance, too.
    It also occurred to me that the drawer mod isn't permanent. The inner drawer could be taken out and a filler installed in the back of original drawer if the storage needs change for taller stuff.

      Thank you! I’m pretty happy with how these turned out!
      Yes, I’m using full extension drawer slides. Absolutely could revert back to a full depth drawer if desired!
