Day 2 of our solo trip on Vietnam's Ha Jiang loop. Today we're deep in the mountains near the Chinese border. Based on a local's recommendation, we take a road less travelled, and find ourselves in a river that possibly comes from China 😂 Just hope we don't end up looking like the 3-eyed fish from the Simpsons

It's not that strange if you've traveled to other countries. Many people speak English in this part of Asia, at least at a basic level. It's more surprising to find someone who doesn't know any at all. It's not a matter of obligation but just a normality. SEA languages are hard to learn quickly when you're just driving through like he is. I lived in Thailand for months studying Thai and I still suck at it, their English is better since they learn it in school from a young age, so it's not that crazy that you'll end up conversing in English if your Vietnamese/Thai/Whatever isn't there. It's like how many Americans know basic Spanish from school, except here they care way more about learning English than we do our second languages. I end up using my phone to translate in these kind of situations, but maybe he had no signal.

I spent last December in Vietnam with my Vietnam vet grandpa and it was either the worst, most nightmarish bureaucratic experience in the world or the most relaxed, sunny, and friendly experience in the world; no in between.

Hey Connor. You should travel to Santiago Atitlan in Guatemala. It has long scenic roads like this with a MASSIVE volcano surrounded by water. It’ll change your life.
About the chips bag, If you're at a relatively high altitude it may be the reason. if the chips were bagged at a lower altitude and sealed, the difference in air pressure will cause the bag to inflate.

They don't fill their bags of chips with air it's because of the pressure due to the altitude. The chips in Colorado look the same as well and when I see deflated bags I think oh it's probably stale.

By the way the chips beingfilled with air isn’t cause they’re filled with air it’s cause you’re at high altitude where there’s less oxygen so the bag expands or less pressure at higher altitude

Chips packets are usually packed in the plains...so at higher altitudes (like in this place), due to lower air pressure, these packets become fluffy (due to expansion) i think

You're at altitude, m8. Air is less dense/the atmospheric pressure is lower, which is why the bag of chips was puffed out and why your carbureted scooter was leaning out once you started into the mountains. If you'd adjusted the choke, it would've been fine.
