Since I saw this video 8 months ago, I've noticed that Barnes and Noble's themed collections are edited by Stefan Dziemianowicz. There are no repeats of stories in the collections so I can keep collecting them in a growing set of beautiful anthologies. Dziemianowicz edited Penny Dreadfuls, Classic Ghost Stories, Phantom of the Opera and Other Stories, Classic Horror Stories and the newly released Classic Supernatural Stories and Classic Fantasy Stories.

At this point you’ve probably read them all by now, but the occupancy at owl creek was a twilight zone episode that really made an impression. I just bought this after watching the video and can’t wait to read it

Ambrose Bierce's Owl Creek Bridge is a great tale. His stories are set during the Civil War.
I got the Phantom of the Opera one very recently. It contains Le Fanu's Carmilla, a story I've been wanting to read. The cover of the book is gorgeous. I put it up there with the Penny Dreadfuls cover.

Sheridan Le Fanu's an iconic Irish writer, of whom literary critics were using the term Weird fiction even before Lovecraft. There's a park named after him here in Dublin..Schalken the Painter was adapted as a movie in the '70s that the BFI put out on Blu-Ray a few years back.

I loved The Watcher by J. Sheridan Le Fanu. Some people criticize the length but I personally thought the story warranted that. Very eerie and creepy!

I just finished that one! I loved it. Ending had a bit to desire, but the buildup was amazing and gave me the chills

I just received a lovely edition of Sherlock Holmes by Easton press. I bought it used and it’s from the 1980s so it has a few blemishes to the gold gilt but I can get over it

So far the only major difference in our tastes is that I prefer Marvel. Although the more I think about it, I have read tons of DC or DC imprints. Just the main superhero comic is Batman. The majority of DC I've read are things like Preacher and Sandman. In fact I have read everything under those titles. I got bored with Superman. He's too powerful. They always have to make him sick or something similar. I do recognize that DC is more mature and tends to get darker. I actually prefer that.

Hehe! My love for DC is mainly for Green Lantern (maybe surprisingly), and for the Justice League stories that have a mythological dimension to them, though like you, the old Vertigo imprint is definitely my favourite! I do love the Marvel movies, though (hard not to!)
