Just got these irons. Cleveland did a heck of a job on these. Gained distance and consistency. Handicap officially lower. Thank you Cleveland!!
Good video. I am considering new clubs, this was very informative. I am 69 yrs young
I've been looking at buying these iron's. Now I know I'm buying them because of you sharing information about these clubs I wasn't aware of. Great presentation .Thanks !
you are very welcome
These clubs are absolutely incredible.
I'm a high handicapper senior golfer. I used to shoot in the 80's. I must say these irons are simply the best irons I've ever hit. My confidence and love of the game has come back. So long to my Ping I3 blades. You've got to overcome the look of the backs and just go with how easy they are to hit. Golf is fun again!
Remember, you’re supposed to look at the ball and not the iron anyway!
Totally agree :)
good comment. i just came back to golf after 14 years. still using my ping I3 irons. thinking of buying halo irons. I am 67. do not have the speed anymore. now i need to decide regular or senior flex. my ping i3s have regular flex. i appreciate any feedback
Just bought this set, getting good reviews on RUclips, can't wait for them to arrive 👍
I currently own the HB Launchers which is a couple of years old. I am very seriously looking at getting the new Halo version. I love my current set and only see this version as Cleveland getting better at making hybrid irons for golfers like me. Great review!!
For anybody that is steep with their irons the rails will do a tremendous job of keeping speed up from ground first contact
I had the hibiores, than the HB3... Is it
time? I think thesevare the one's
@@KevininSC
Nope. Just some old-school HB3's.
Looking into srixon zx mk2's
My second time playing these today, can’t wait!
I’m 77 years old never was a great golfer, play high80’s to mid 90’s. Haven’t bought clubs for years , waiting for the 5 to 9 high launch irons. have no idea if it will change my game or not. Just happy to be able to play!
Great Video! So much forgiveness and performance packed into these clubs at a great price!
I'd be interested to see the turf interaction outside with the different sole designs through the set.
I just gave in a few weeks ago and bought a 6 and 5 Turbo Launcher iron, last years model. So far Im very happy, im a 10 handicap and coming from Hogan Apex Edge Pro irons, i still use the 7-A in them but I was sick and tired of hitting crappy shots from 165-190 and these so far have been great. I get a nice boring draw which is my shot anyway so they just work.
That’s great. If you get a chance try this new model side by side with yours and see what you think.
I made the switch recently to the hb turbo irons and absolutely love them. Was struggling with iron play and I think if you’re someone like myself who always found hybrids easy to hit then you will like these. Mishits are incredibly forgiving with them and my distance height spin and accuracy have all gone up. Been practicing a lot lately which is huge obviously but the confidence over the ball with these has been sky high feels like aim and shoot. I think most people that play golf should be using an iron built like this they would certainly hit better shots and score better. Currently 17 hcp and on the way down!!
That’s awesome. Congrats. If you get a chance try this set side by side with the Turbos. If your someone that makes ground first contact or is a bit steep with the swing, these are pretty rock solid at maintaining speed.
@@THPGOLF thanks for that info. Coming in steep and catching fat shots is a problem I have a lot since I'm in Scotland where the grass is always wet and spongey.
The reason I've been looking at these is because of the rails and the weight of the head should minimise those fat shots in boggy turf.
Really good review. Most reviews of these clubs simply drone on about the looks.
Great review Dan, first time watching one of your videos it will not be the last! The Halo irons are so easy to hit I saw them at a demo day this weekend. I heard one guy hitting them call them cheater iron because they were so easy to hit and very forgiving! The speed off the face is very impressive also.
I HAVE THE TURBO LAUNCHERS, love them and lkve the sound
Very good numbers
Great review Dan! I was just chosen as a tester for these irons, can't wait to check them out and see how they perform.
I just bought these because my 8 to 3 iron game is not good. I can hit PW and 9 just fine but distance for all other irons is not what I'd expect. I can hit fairway woods and driver well with club head speed but just can't generate it on most irons, no idea why. I'm hoping these irons do the trick.
Great review and way to stay on top of fresh releases. Totally gonna look into buying these after your review.
Thanks Edward. They are definitely unique, but a fun iron to hit.
This is good stuff Dan. Seems they got their mojo back to my eye as far as a set that will really appeal to this segment in a big way.
I love the ones I got so far.i got the custom accuracy build
I bought the Cleveland XL Halo full face irons which are similar to these but better put heavier steel shafts in them for better control Dynamic gold mid 115
Great review Dan. I can certainly see myself transitioning into this style of iron in the coming years. Looks like a lot of positives with these.
Thanks. They are definitely a fun iron to hit.
Everyone is doubtful about the look of these clubs. I like the look ! Just goes to show people are never happy . Isn't lowering your score more important than how they look ???
I had the altitudes full set when they first came out - switched from a Ping g5 set. They were nice at first but then I found the dispersion to great and I blamed it on the stiff graphite shaft. Hopefully the shaft they are now using will be better. Grandson now has the altitudes. Just subscribed good luck nice review.
looks like a pull from the light shaft vs draw bias head....but curious....i just ordered in steel, ill let you know since i fight too much draw....
Great video!
Thanks!
Bought these clubs last week...The only downside I have found is that they do not make a Launcher XL Halo 3 iron! Love them!
I bought the whole set... and yes the 4 iron, 3 degrees less, 18 degrees. Which is kind of a 2-3 iron... Amazing clubs. My 4 iron is my driving iron now
If they are a game improvement iron. Is it logical that if you are a 3 hc it can improve your game as well? Maybe a little hard to shape. But it can be done.
I bought a 6i to try out. Still getting used to it, I usually hit straight but needed a couple of irons to fill my bag. Pleased with it, but would like to try the Cobra T-rail also. Playing it slightly forward of center? Thanks for the review
What surprised me was the distance I am able to hit my Cleveland HB turbo clubs and the straight lines, I have had to sharpen up my course management skills….best clubs ever, well priced for the average golfer considering change, procrastination is a sin, do it
Thats a great feeling isn't it Lex? Glad to hear they are working for you.
GO BIG BLUE!!!
After trying these, I put my almost new custom fitted $2400 Titleist T200 irons in the closet.
My problem with this kind of hybrid-looking design is that I just don't hit hybrids well, despite them supposedly being easier to hit. I would rather hit my 5-iron than my 22* hybrid. So the Launcher XL mid-irons don't set up well for my eyes. Also, since I hit my irons pretty well, I don't have any interest in changing them (Callaway Mavrik). That said, what surprised me the most is the higher-than-expected spin, and descent angles, you produced. For someone who sweeps the ball, and likes the presentation, these seem to be a viable option. Thanks for the review.
The hybrid issues exist for some, although these are some of the easiest to hit we have encountered in terms of ball flight and performance overall (as you mentioned). Really good set that just might be their best yet in the category.
I’m a fan of these clubs, Question about the counter balance weight, is it in the shaft or grip, and how would this impact on grip changes/upgrades
Thanks for the review!
It is in the grip, but it can be replicated.
I have a set of Halo XL’s. I have long arms so I always cut my shafts down 3/4 inches. I cut my new set down and had the grips replaced with mid- size grips and don’t notice any difference. I’m still hitting all of my clubs well.
Fix AV cable. Constant hum during the video. Otherwise great review.
For a 24-handicap novice 50-year-old golfer, what shaft stiffness would you recommend?
With a complete guess, probably regular.
How does the distance of the 7 iron compare to how you hit other 7 irons? How do these compare to the Launcher HB irons from last year? You are very positive about these irons, are you promoting these for Cleveland or do you really like the performance?
We are not promoting anything at all. Simply sharing our thoughts on all equipment. The Launcher HB was a good set, yet this new sole design will really benefit players that are steep. It could benefit sweepers as well but the speed it maintained for steep swingers was fantastic.
What shaft is it? Regular or stiff? Great video by the way.
Stiff
Will you testing the hybrids ?✌🏻👍🏻
We have a full review of the hybrids on the website currently, as well as the woods.
I can't get my iron swing down and keep striking the ground tearing up my elbow. I can hit my 4-5 hybrids pretty well though, would these be a better option for me? Do you swing these like they were a hybrid or do you still utilize all the mechanics involved with a tradition iron swing?
Well that is really twofold. First if you are making ground first contact, early, clubs won’t completely fix that. With that side the wider soles here will help without a doubt. Second, if you are having elbow discomfort, consider graphite shafts.
Hope you are still monitoring comments, as this is August 2022. I'm looking at this Halo iron and also the PXG 0211Z, built for the same high handicapper (as I am). Have you tested that one?
Of course we are. And its the Halo and its not close, especially if you are slightly to severely steep. The sole works fantastically well in that situation.
@@THPGOLF Thank you! The other advantage, I suppose, is that one can buy the Halo clubs one at a time, and PXG seems to come only in sets. I have Cleveland (smart sole) wedges, so need only 6-P.
What type of golfers are these clubs aimed at compared to the Cleveland Launcher HB Turbos?
Similar golfer, just a newer model. One that we think made great strides in speed with the new sole design as well as mainframe.
Is the shaft a graphite shaft or a “graphic style” shaft? Big difference.
I’m not sure I understand the question. There are composite shafts and steel shafts.
I had the old HB3 irons a few years back and found they sat a little face closed, which would give me occasional pulls to the left. How do these new irons sit?
They are still slightly closed but closer to neutral especially in the scoring clubs
Would you suggest graphite or steel shafts?
Depends on the player. And there are a lot of options
is this club bigger than previous launcher hb irons in terms of heel to toe club length? i remember previous versions' short irons were quite compact
We haven't put them on the measurement device yet, but to the naked eye, they do not appear to be.
if you prefer hitting a fairway wood on every shot get a set of these
What is the stifness of the shaft you are using in the video? I have just tested a 7 iron with a 5.5 shaft in don´t seem to hit it as far as my old Mizuno irons.
Their standard stiff in this video.
what is the differen e between the launcher xl halo and the launcher hb turbo irons
Quite a bit of it is explained at the beginning of the video. Between their new face construction and sole design they are pretty different irons.
Can I buy them off you? I've been looking everywhere for them.
No, we don’t sell equipment, but I believe Budgetgolf.com has them available.
I have been playing with the HB Turbo model for about a year and like them. Certainly more forgiving. I am wondering if the XL Halo is enough of a difference to consider upgrading?
Its hard to say. We have found that if anybody is a steep swinger or hits ground first contact, the new Halo has been exceptional vs the Turbo.
@@THPGOLF another question - I see that the standard grip is the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360. But, they say there is an 8g weight in the grip to counterbalance. If I want a different grip, do I lose the 8g weight? I looked on Golf Pride's website and I don't see a Tour Velvet 360 with a counterbalance weight built in.
the problem the person testing the club is a low handicapper or scratch golfer. these clubs are designed for mid and high handicap players. its designed to be easy to hit and forgiving
The club doesn’t know who is swinging it. We test everything thoroughly with all handicap ranges.
Do they make lighter shafts for super seniors? Thanks
Yes they do
Alternatives to these from other brands; Wilson Launch Pads, Cobra T-Rails, Tour Edge ( Bazookas, HP3, HP4, E-521 iron woods).
I have gamed the Cleveland HB Launchers and some of the Tour edge versions. The Cleveland were slightly draw biased, the Tour Edge more so. I found the HB Launchers to give high launch, good spin and good distance/ dispersion.
The Halo XL seem to have blended some of the Cobra baffler rails design , which might make them more playable for steeper swing pane players. If you like Hybrids, you will feel at home with these. I know of a few players who blend these with their irons in the 20 (4 iron) -30 ( 7 iron) lofts, then cavity backs for more shot shaping (8-A).
you should leave all shots in not remove one. you said we arent robots but you remove a shot from the sample group which could make the group more cinsistent or more robot like
It’s not removed, it’s still visible. We do that to show iron head consistency on good strikes but still leave it showing so that people see all shots
Would love to see an average joe weekend hacker test these clubs. All the reviews are by the usual bunch of RUclips reviewers and they are all close to even scratch players. They can basically hit anything. I would like to see someone like me and how easy it actually is to hit.
It’s why on our forum, where this video also lives, we have feedback from all skill levels
@@THPGOLF Feedback and live video is two very different things. I get what you're saying, but it would be cool if you could have an average joe on the video trying the clubs that are supposed to help high handicappers. Nice videos though!
Tech Talker needs to invest in new tech and upgrade his mic
would you suggest these irons for a high handicapper with senior swing speed?
Sure. Super forgiving and nice high ball flight
