I put my new Halos in play last week and have played 3 rounds. In all honesty, I wasn't sure if I would like them or not. I'm 75 and carry an 11.2 index. Having played Scrixons and Pings for years, I have never hit the ball better. First round, 83, second round 78, third round, 81. It took about 9 holes to forget about the look and to get rid of my snobbery. Some golfers are more concerned with their own appearance and had rather shoot a 95 with shiny TMs, personally I'm more interested in my "Out/In/Total" at the end of my rounds.
Im a legit 10 handicap now. Not because I'm a decent golfer but because i've used Cleveland Hb launchers and now this past year the upgrade to the Halo. All the good qualities of the HB launcher but with more distance. People laugh at my irons say how do you hit those ugly things. I laugh right back and watch them spray their blade like irons all over the course. They have to hit a perfectly square shot every time. The Clevelands are so forgiving my mishits are better than my old shots that i thought i flushed.
Let's not be modest. You're not a 10 handicap golfer because of the clubs. You probably have a good swing, a great short game, and a little help from the clubs. It's the man not the clubs.
@@YoungDisciple90 Yes still playing them today. Had some back issues and with them can still elevate the ball similarly although my swing speed has dropped a little. Here is the difference -my mis hits are still a playable shot i have 4-PW and also bought 4 Cleveland CBX Wedges.

I don't understand ANYONE who needs this type of ultimate game improvement club getting caught up in sound variances? I returned to golf last year after a 16-year layoff. I tried Cleveland Turbo Launcher, Cobra T-Rail, and Tour Edge Iron Woods. I selected the Tour Edge due to price and a slight advantage in distance. The sound of the ball strike was (and should not be) a factor if you need some help from your irons. I could care less what others think about the look or sound of my clubs. All that matters is how I hit them. Evidently, there are a lot of golfers out there who are focused on the wrong goal. Getting better is all that should matter. I'm 63 and need a double shoulder replacement, in addition to the 16-year layoff discussed earlier. I can 100% recommend this type of club for older golfers. Do yourself a favor, however, and leave out any consideration of sound or looks in your decision strategy. The ultimate game improvement iron that you hit the furthest and most consistently is the one you need!!! Good luck and choose well!
I’m waiting on delivery of halos after a fitting day last week, initially I was not keen, due to the look, but wow ! After trying them I just said order me these please ! They are amazing, I’m 57 and 32 handicap, but that is due to inconsistent swing, I will par an SI 1 , then do a 6 on a par 3. I know these will get me right down, I can’t praise them enough, but I’m not a golf snob, I will use anything to make my 4 hours more enjoyable 👍
Great video Andy. Two BIG pts come out of this video that Average Golfers should embrace: - you a single digit Avg Golfers loves that 5-hybrid Cleveland iron - it speaks to getting far more Average Golfers to remove traditional 5-irons & replace with these types of irons/hybrids (likely the 6 iron as well). Secondly, using a wide-soled club to chip with - 95% of golfers should be ditching pro gap&sand wedges and should be chipping with wide-soled wedges
Amen. Wide soled wedges? Absolutely easier to get good with. I will never be pitching into the cup like a pro. I can get it in a 4 foot circle quite a few times, and that results in some one putts. Chip and putt well, the strokes fall away fast. Team that with wide soled game improvement irons / hybrids / woods, more strokes saved. Lastly, decision making. Seek and maintain the ball in the short grass. On tight fairways, I will tee off with an iron sometimes just to make sure I am in the fairway, no matter how far away I am.
I have been using a set of the Launcher HB (pre halo series) for 4-5 years and at 78 with a swing speed around 90 the only way I would get rid of them is if I got a newer set. Thanks for the test. Reminded me how fortunate I am to b smart enough to have nd use them.
I play Cleveland CBX irons but have struggled to hit the 5 and 6 irons consistently. I laid my hands on the Stealth HD 5 and 6 irons to replace them. WOW great decision. They are so easy to hit and get up in the air. I have replaced my 4 iron with the Cleveland Launcher HB 4 iron. Sorted. The gapping is fine and my scores are better. My mates are amazed at the launch I get with the Stealth HDs and I don’t think it will be long before they have some in their bags
am now 54 and my swing has slowed down. just changed from titleist T300 to the Stealth HD and golf has become so much more enjoyable love these new irons
Hi, forgive me for asking plse but do you have the Stealth HD wedges as well, ie Pitching, Approach and/or Sand? If so, how are you finding them plse? Cheers Andrew
Another great review Sir. As a struggling golfer this would more than like be a huge help for my game. Thanks for the options and the Sub 70 option I see in the comments.
After a 20 year break I did a lot of research and the Launcher Halos come up as most forgiving in a lot of reviews. So I bought them and after 6 weeks with them have shaved 20 shots off my score. They are smooth and forgiving. Hit a little left but once you get used to that and adjust they are VG. Have Cleveland CBX AW, SW and LW. The well hit AW is around 50 metres shorter than the Halo PW. It really flys for the 456 and 7. I a can’t see me changing for a long time.
Interesting review, I've just stocked my bag with Halo XL Hybrids - 3+, 4 & 5 I'm almost committed to the Halo XL irons too. One thing that I noticed in your test, the Cleveland strikes were almost all straight shots whereas with the stealth there seems to be more dispersion. It has been the straight hitting that quickly moved me from 0 hybrids, to 1, to 3. I've never been as straight with any clubs.
I have been playing golf off and on all my life and for about 4 years I played at least 4 times a week and was a 5 handy-cap player. I have not played any serious golf for about 10 years now. But, I am retired now and have stared playing again, not very good i must say. I do have however the occasional shot of a 5 handy-capper and it feels amazing. I am at a 18 handy-cap right now. So to answer your question, I don't care what the club looks like, for me it is getting my strokes down to a respectable 10 handy-cap. I will be looking into both of the clubs you have showcased here. Awesome job and keep up the excellent work.
I have played the Cleveland Halo irons for one season now and because I am 78 but a decent player I thought I would give them a try and even more so was the fact that I wanted to assemble them with my own shafts and grips rather than those cheap shafts and grips you always get with a new set of clubs. Cleveland was very gracious with that request although they could not ship the heads directly to me but agreed to ship them to a dealer who would agree to forward the heads on to me. Believe it or not, I found a fitter/ retailer out in California who agreed to that without charging me at all and I live in Memphis, Tennessee. I put the clubs together and since I have played them one season, the Mizuno forged irons that were in my bag will now have to find a new home. I love these Halo irons and now can't wait to get back out on the course.
I got a set of Cleveland’s just over a month ago to replace my 20 year old callaways and i must say very impressed so far. 4+5 irons harder to hit but when you do they sure go and the rest are just so consistent and easy to play with added yardage
Scott, played the halos 1/2 of last year. The 4/5/6 are some of my faves to hit now. Above those is my Hy-wood. It took a while for the look to grow on me with the halos, or maybe realize I don’t care what someone else “may” think.
Been looking at the hy-woods just in case I can’t get on with the long irons but I’m guessing I just need to get more practice in as I haven’t had then for long. Looks wise I quite like them if in honest and I know they make me hit the ball better that’s for sure
@@scottsmith6274 the Hy-Wood is a 3 hybrid with the face of a fairway wood. Andy has a great review of it. It’s my 195-210 club. I can hit the 4 in the Halo irons about 180-190.
This year I have replaced my P790's with a complete set of the Sub70 799 irons. The new Stealth HD irons are more similar to the Sub70 799 irons than the Cleveland Halo irons. The Sub70 irons cost much less than the Taylormades and have more build options.
Stealth hd has twice the offset and your shots on this Video it seems the Halo XL performed just a bit better…plus Cleveland has been at this style of iron a long time of iron a long time
I tried an earlier version of the Cleveland’s and was curious about the Taylormade Stealth HD’s. However, I am staying with my Cobra T-Rails and Cleveland CBX2 wedges. I purchased the Cobra T-Rails after a fitting about one year ago. I have been very pleased with the T-Rails and my handicap has gone lower.
I chose the Cleveland Halo's XL and love the, and that's after being a Taylormade guy for nearly 15 years through 3 set of irons. Will try the new Taylormades at the golf show this weekend, but doubt I am ready for a change especially how well the Clevelands have help my disbursement hugely.
@@riverwalker2173me too I have stealth 2 driver 3,5 wood and 4 hybrid hit them well 3 sets of irons and I can’t hit them for crap so inconsistent I’m thinking about the halos
I'm very interested in the Stealth HD. Stepped away from golf for a couple of years and now kinda just want to see the ball move forward. Will defo look into a fitting!
Great video, thanks. Am about to take delivery of a set of Cleveland irons that I got for just under £90 per club which I now feel is a bit of a bargain. As a 19 handicapper your description of how these clubs perform is so helpful.
Beauty remains in the eye of the beholder. Once a club works better than its competitors, it takes on its own form of beauty. Concerning the Halos, they are not only cheaper, but it appears you hit them better overall. Looks to me the high and mid handicap golfers would do well to give these a try.
I had the Cleveland HB and then the HB turbos. Now I have the halos. The stealth HD s look feel sound and preform. Just like the HB turbos. For slower swing speeds the halos are way better especially in the higher irons.
One of your better reviews that will interest so many golfers, especially older golfers with swing problems or anyone who looks at price, which most of us do. I own three sets of clubs, a wonderful old set of Tommy Armour 845’s Silver Scots that are heavy and made of steel, a new set of Cobra XL fly and my new full set of Cleveland XL Halo Hybrid irons. I have now sold the Cobra XL Fly full set and settled into my Cleveland hybrid irons and without any lie I think they are what many “not so good golfers” should try. No digging up soil with bad divots with these babies, just a nice sound and off they go. Don’t just take my word just go and try them out, they won’t disappoint. You can thank me later 😊
Great video. In each clip you seem to hit the Cleveland better than the Stealth HD. Did you notice that you were able to hit it more consistently? Thanks
I'm so happy to see these products being constantly made to create competition as I just got back into golf after 25 years, next year I will invest in clubs and looking at budget but valuable GI clubs like these Cleveland Halos and these newer ELEVEN hybrid irons. I love the idea of 3-7 but not 100% convinced on 89 and definitely unsure with the wedges
agreed! I think that most of us have our greatest hesitations regarding the playability of wedges, particularly from sand and hardpan. The comparison is quite incomplete absent a demo of the respective wedges
The longer irons in those sets are GENIUS! High launch, accurate and long. If you compare the halos/stealth HD with hybrids, the irons are just as forgiving but with better feel and control. I game the Cleveland HB turbos 4-7, cavity backs in the shorter irons. The 6 “iron” is probably the best golf club ever made.
I have the halos 4 -Sw and the 4/5/6 are my favorites to hit. There definitely is something about the 6 in those. The Mark Crossfield review of the halos talking about the 6 and pointing to the sky, “but it’s that launch, it’s almost like cheating”
I think I noticed that it was a graphite shaft in the Cleveland and a steel in the TaylorMade. In you opinion does it make a huge difference in this type of iron. Would you towards either?. My swing speed in your range.
two people i know recently bought the Halo clubs and they love them, i just got myself a Halo 3+ hy-wood and i love it so i will be going to try the irons very very soon
I have the halos for a couple months and it took a bit of getting used to at first then the transformation came. I was focusing on an simpler swing and these clubs took my simpler swing to the next level. The main problem is once you get used to them its hard to go back to other clubs. I have heard snob golfers on course and even in these comments for this video "clubs wont make you better, its you". That's the aging ignorance in golf mostly from crotchety old men. There are some details to point out though. I could never hit my old 5 iron well and I can destroy with the halo 5, I hit 200ft with not a full swing. The pitching wedge is absolutely butter, the ball just stops within a couple feet. Watch out for too much easy swing power though. The dirt wedge is where the set design fails for me. The technology doesn't mesh in the sand, its too unpredictable but I have a crispy cobra sand wedge so I swapped it out. Next is the weight the heads are heavy and there is an 8g weight in the top of the shaft as well. With steel shafts these things have a noticeable weight difference over standard clubs which will take a toll on arthritis, tendonitis, golf/tennis elbow, etc. My recommendation is to get the carbon shafts if your suffering from any medical constraints. it will be a 10 yard difference loss give or take vs steel but you wont need the voltaren at the end of the day, lol. The grips I'm not a fan of them at all for the steel shaft variants. My 10 year old calaway's have nicer grips. Problem is because of the extra weight of the clubs and the feedback sent back to the golfer, the grips need more dampening. My recommendation is the golf pride CP2 Wrap Midsize.
I’ve just ordered the Stealth HD 5-SW as my new irons after testing on my local course ( thanks to the pro for that) , they’ll make a massive difference to my enjoyment of the game and lower my scores I hope too
i just priced these up at lefthanded golf, both in graphite and the TM are £999 for 7 irons, and the cleveland are £627 for 7 irons so TM are £53.00 per club more and the way andy was hitting those clevelands i know which i would buy
A good video! As some for feed back for you. My golf buddies and myself, all late 60s and high handicappers have tested both of these clubs, plus the Wilson launch pad and the Cleveland XL very similar to the Halo. We all found that we preferred the look and feel the Cleveland Halo, and during a fitting at Golf Town in Canada we found that the Cleveland Halo came out on top.
I went to Golf Town and tested the Wilson Launchpad and I hated it. I didn't even try the Cleveland because they kind of look the same, but I tried the Titleist T400, I love it so much. I'll probably give a try at the Cleveland Halo.
i carry the older Turbo 6 and 5 from Cleveland, use them as my 170-180 and 185 -195 clubs. I just like the iron length shafts and if i do my part they really sound good and pierce threw and i find the spin is fine, i get maybe a 2-4 yd release so i just plan on that but they do stop good enough for me.
That was a really enjoyable and informative review. I liked how we got to experience what you were experiencing and thinking in real time if that makes sense.
After watching this video again I realised I was a golfing snob definitely still living in the past when I was 19 20 or do playing off 6 still thinking I was that player no at 57 riddled with old sporting injuries knees shoulders etc I bought the cleveland irons and yes think this is going to be a good move thus year thanks Andy 😊 👍
I just bought the Cleveland XL Halos, I've never hit a 5 iron better, long, high and straight. They are amazing clubs and they truly are the easiest to hit clubs I've ever played. I will be gaming these a long time.
As I age (currently 65) I do not give a hoot what a club looks like. I DO care a LOT about how it can help my game, even if it had Mickey Mouse ears and it helps me hit it straighter and farther, I am all in.
Great review, much appreciated! I love your video reviews because for one, you're out on the course in real conditions rather than just hitting off a mat indoors. I also like someone who is similar to my ability reviewing them rather than a scratch golfer who could make do with just about anything. You see that a lot on RUclips. I currently play with Ping G710 8 irons through Wedge and 18*, 21*, 24*, and 27* hybrids. I like how I'm hitting most of my clubs, especially hybrids. As for my irons, I hit my Ping Wedge and other wedges fairly well - Callaway Jaws 54* and 58* but am struggling with my 8 and 9 iron. Some of this is due to a lot of tight lies on my course so I'm thinking that a Cleveland Halo 8 and 9 iron might work for me better. I'm thinking about picking up a Halo 8 iron and giving it a try. If it works, then getting the 9 iron (and maybe even a 7). I will say though, one of the things I'll need to get over is being a bit of a golf snob myself and hearing reactions from others who I play with. A couple guys who I play with are so proud of their blades yet I beat them consistently with my game improvement irons.
Just bought the Taylor Made HD irons on a custom fit actually went into my golf course pro shop looking and trying the new Callaway big bertha and Apex DCB's but ordered these ...simply better for me ....
I've been playing the cleveland's for a few years and wanted to try the stealth HD, so I went for a fitting. Walked out of there buying the Ping G430's...
Love your content. This comparison was most interesting. I want a new set of clubs this year and you have convinced me to consider this type of club. Thank you!
I will be trying them next Saturday at a Cleveland demo day event. I've always struggled with iron play, especially as they get longer. I drive the ball very well, but suck with irons.
They arrived and I used them yesterday on the course. They are much easier to hit than regular irons. They do help with confidence. I'm really thrilled with the purchase.
Thank you so much for this video. It was EXACTLY the review I have been looking forward to seeing. I am definitely in the market for these clubs (I've also been looking at the cobra t rail hybrid irons as well). Did you find that the Cleveland felt lighter that the taylormade? Wonderful review...I could have watched for a half hour more it was so informative!🙂
The Cleveland irons are always so impressive irrespective of the looks. Beyond the ease of strike and sole help you mention, they actually spin like or more than a comparable GI iron, so you aren't left facing low spin bombs that don't stop and bounce through greens.
After watching your previous video on the Launchers, I decided to try them. Found them too bulky . Persevered for 6 weeks. Couldn’t get them to work. Made the mistake in buying them in Winter conditions seemed to lose a lot of Distance, since been left in Garage, disappointed in myself and hybrids.where do you put ball in stance. Might give them a summer try.
Probably will. Wrong time of year to try them, lack of distance got in my head, regretted chopping in Ping G. 400 ‘s. Couldn’t believe what on line sites offered me for Hybrids, despite being A1 condition. Cheers. Mick
I think the only issue for these kinds of clubs is spin drop off. From stuff I have seen, the cleveland launchers have an impressive ability to maintain good spin levels on the ball compared to most other GI type sets. Not sure about the stealth HDs.
I like the way the Cleveland clubs look, I believe that is a competitive price, and you can get driver, fairways woods and hybrids Launcher XL Halo. I’m trying to find a golf shop or course around here and see about a Demo
I think feel will be key to what you go for, I tried the hybrid irons but they were to brutal and hard sound/ feeling . The Titleist T400 were much better feeling and split sole gives good turf interaction. looks like the HD is doing that a bit as well with the chamfered sole. But whatever game/super game improvement iron you pick it’s got to be better than the “good” looking irons unless you are a pretty low handicapper. Another well known you tuber plays game improvement irons for that reason and he is a pro!!!
@@paulmcgee1867 won’t help what ? The lofts are picked simply to get the required height to match the typical numbered iron. If the T400 had higher lofts the balls would fly to high due to the tech tungsten etc. The loft issue is irrelevant it’s how high the clubs hit the bell for the various clubs.
Andy would you recommend the wedges in this set wondered how they would perform if you had to open them up. I'm 61 play off 7 but winter has been a grind struggled with ball striking and loss of distance thinking of giving these a go. Great channel by the way.
GET THESE CLUBS. I have the Cleveland Halo XL launchers 8, 9, P and G. I have CBX wedges. I have also got 5 hydrids including halo launchers. i GOT RID OF MY DRIVER. I have dropped on average 1 stroke a month since i got them. im 62. Hitting my 8 iron 150 meters/164 yards. The contact is crisp. Its like cheating. Im down to 9 HC in 6 months. Best golf of my life. Hitting green in regulation is now common.
Cleveland seems to be the more forgiving club for the average golfer. And better results from your swing pattern,Looking good and sounding good is not what I’m buying I want results on my ability as a golfer. Cleveland all the way
Thanks for doing this comparison. I have the Clevelands, love them. Was "lusting" over the Taylormade Stealth HDs. Probably will just stay with the Clevelands. If money falls from heaven I'll go check out the Taylormades. Update....bought the Taylormade Stealth HDs. Couldn't hit them. Sold them on ebay, picked up some Ping G430s which I was able to hit much better.
no golf snob here mate...............hahaha..............wonderful review.... been playing T-rails for a couple of years.... and i couldn't care less what anyone thinks... good on ya..
Also (having made the switch from Halo to Stealth HD), note the Halos require head covers because the black backing is so easily scratched and marred. At least with the Taylor Made I can bang the club back into the bag after a bad shot without ruining an iron.
I tried the Cleveland Halo vs. the 211 Xcor2s. The Halo went so high that I lost distance. The PXGs fill better for me, so I sent the Halos back. The TMs look intriguing but it may be I just can’t hit super game improvement irons. Glad for this video!
@@JamesRinaldi yes I’m a bit the same no problem getting the ball up I prefer my fwy woods myself 5,7,9 never been a fan of hybrids I might have to go for fitting and gapping session
Andy, playing the Cleveland halos. Really like them. Your hy-wood video was a gateway for me. I noticed you aren’t as “drawy” with the 5 halo as the original review. Do you still feel like you have the face slightly open. It seems like you were hitting the Halos right on the screws. Great content as always!!
Andy - you are not done. What about the Tour Edge and the Wilson options? The Taylormade have the most offset which I really don't need. I'm over 70 but my miss is nearly always to the left. I have hit shots with all four and favor the Wilson Launchers but I need to hit them side by side.
three years ago, we played with a 14 yr old kid that shot a 74 from the tips on one of the hardest courses in San Antonio using the original version of these irons, saying "Golf isn't really that hard." All 3 of us wanted to strangle him, because we were all struggling. I am now 40 years old, 12-14 Handicap. I usually game players irons such as Apex. I recently switched to the full face Halo XL, because they are so easy to hit and I do not have that much time to practice. Think about your last round and how many great iron shots you had that you felt like "Wow that's a golf shot!" You can triple that number with these irons. Most of my shots are gorgeous and almost effortless. Some say they sure look ugly, which to me they look like I am about to launch it. I guess thats Why God made iron covers?
Great ideas again. Personally I have the Wilson’s so not looking to change 👍🏻. I was very surprised with my set just how nice the PW is and because of that I have since added the GW 🎉
Just got fitted for Ping G430's. Traded in Halo XL set. I went with driver, 7&9 fairway woods, 6&7 hybrids, 8,9,PW, 45, 50 bent to 52 and 58 degree wedges. All in the High Launch option which seemed to give me the best results with 85mph driver and 65mph 7 iron clubhead speeds. Had loads of fun with the Halo set. I think the Ping HL's are ladies clubs in disguise.
Did he mention the offset on, for example, the 7iron is 4.1mm for the TM and only 2.1MM on the Cleveland. Notice his strikes with the TM curve more the the left as a result of the difference in offset with the same swing.
One big difference is that the Stealth HD is designed to be draw biased and has a lot of offset. The Halo irons are neutral and have very little offset.
Hi, just ran across your channel. Great reviews on these Cleveland Halos. Is there an advantage with graphite shafts? Im more concerned about consistency than distance, even though I don’t hit the ball real far anyways. Im 6’ tall 190 lbs, multiple rotator cuff surgeries have my upper body strength down quite a bit.
I put my new Halos in play last week and have played 3 rounds. In all honesty, I wasn't sure if I would like them or not. I'm 75 and carry an 11.2 index.
I don’t understand all the concern over the sound of strike? How the ball performs should be the primary determination.
Update, I knocked 11 shots off my first round with these, and a Cleveland cbx 54 wedge, I’m in heaven right now 😂
@@garyfitzsimons3741do you still use them I’m looking into a used set at a local shop I also have the Cleveland cbx4 wedges 55 and 60 degree
Cheers
Andrew
@andrewferguson1013 hi I bought 6 to aw and all are great irons didn't bother with sand and lob wedge because I already have a 54 and 58 wedge 👍
@@markturner8916
Cheers, and is are the PW and AW really still more forgiving than your usual other branded wedges?
@andrewferguson1013 getting the same distance but more reliable and forgiving definitely so there's been no drop off
@@markturner8916
Thank you! Are they more difficult to shank lol, my nemesis!?
GREAT video!!! 🔥I’m a 12 handicap and putting the TaylorMade HD’s in my bag with the KBS Max regular graphite shafts! 🔥🔥🔥
This year I have replaced my P790's with a complete set of the Sub70 799 irons. The new Stealth HD irons are more similar to the Sub70 799 irons than the Cleveland Halo irons. The Sub70 irons cost much less than the Taylormades and have more build options.
SUB70!🐊
Stealth hd has twice the offset and your shots on this Video it seems the Halo XL performed just a bit better…plus Cleveland has been at this style of iron a long time of iron a long time
Same. I traded my 790’s for the stealths and wow the stealth’s are so much more forgiving
I've had good results with TM woods, but their irons never agreed with me😕
@@riverwalker2173me too I have stealth 2 driver 3,5 wood and 4 hybrid hit them well 3 sets of irons and I can’t hit them for crap so inconsistent I’m thinking about the halos
I bought the Cleveland irons last year lovevthem
Thanks
I started using halo xl's this year and dropped my handicap by 10
I'm so happy to see these products being constantly made to create competition as I just got back into golf after 25 years, next year I will invest in clubs and looking at budget but valuable GI clubs like these Cleveland Halos and these newer ELEVEN hybrid irons.
I game the taylormade m cgb irons and they help tremendously. I would consider the stealth hd as 5, 6 & 7 irons.
I’ve just ordered the Stealth HD 5-SW as my new irons after testing on my local course ( thanks to the pro for that) , they’ll make a massive difference to my enjoyment of the game and lower my scores I hope too
One of your best side by side comparisons. Well done!
Mizunos, Wilson, Callaway iron sets and now gaming Clev XL Halos…… so much better as if it was what a 10 handicapper like me truly needed👍
Nice video. Interested in your view of how the Cleveland Halo and Stealth HD compare to the PXG 0211Z irons.
You somehow are making all the golf videos I want to see...onto your PING G430 VS TM Stealth HD next. Cheers to you sir, liked and subscribed!
i just priced these up at lefthanded golf, both in graphite and the TM are £999 for 7 irons, and the cleveland are £627 for 7 irons so TM are £53.00 per club more and the way andy was hitting those clevelands i know which i would buy
I go there for my wife, great service and prices
@@gmsvalley Golf Town in Ottawa were offering a free fitting when you spend over 500$
@@christopherwooderson4705 I finally bought the Titleist T400 barely used at Golf Town for 1050$ instead of 1855$.
Did you try the halo’s?
@@robcollins8690 Yes I did, with graphite shafts. I am planning on trying steel shafts before I make a decision on which clubs to purchase.
i carry the older Turbo 6 and 5 from Cleveland, use them as my 170-180 and 185 -195 clubs.
Thats good to hear mate, hope they go well. For the first time the longest iron in my bag is a 6!
I just bought the Cleveland XL Halos, I've never hit a 5 iron better, long, high and straight. They are amazing clubs and they truly are the easiest to hit clubs I've ever played. I will be gaming these a long time.
Cleveland Golf Launcher XL Halo are the clubs that you want as they are effortless.
I’m actually debating between these two to be my next iron set. Your vid is very good timing for me. Thanks ⛳️
Don't forget to give the Wilson's a go too
@@richardlupton3676 I’ll probably look at the Wilson and the Cobra too.
I orddered them. Easy to hit, all went up in the air. Impressed.
They arrived and I used them yesterday on the course. They are much easier to hit than regular irons. They do help with confidence. I'm really thrilled with the purchase.
You looked like you absolutely nailed the Cleveland's!
The best for me is the Cobra T-Rail. I own all three, and the T-Rail is automatic. The feel and sound are right on.
The Cleveland irons are always so impressive irrespective of the looks. Beyond the ease of strike and sole help you mention, they actually spin like or more than a comparable GI iron, so you aren't left facing low spin bombs that don't stop and bounce through greens.
Absolutely
After watching your previous video on the Launchers, I decided to try them. Found them too bulky . Persevered for 6 weeks. Couldn’t get them to work. Made the mistake in buying them in Winter conditions seemed to lose a lot of Distance, since been left in Garage, disappointed in myself and hybrids.where do you put ball in stance. Might give them a summer try.
Hi Mick, sorry to hear this. I play them as I would an iron, I change in ball position or swing, get them back out and give a try, good luck
I played hybrid Cleveland’s for years haven’t played in 5 yrs now trying to get back into golf
They remind me of a modern day Browning 440 iron from the 70's and 80's.
Agree completely ,Browning 440s got me down to single figures. Thought I was a real golfer and switched to blades. Was never as good again.🏌️♂️😀
Lip
Except the Titleist ones have much stronger lofts which won’t help
@@paulmcgee1867 won’t help what ? The lofts are picked simply to get the required height to match the typical numbered iron. If the T400 had higher lofts the balls would fly to high due to the tech tungsten etc. The loft issue is irrelevant it’s how high the clubs hit the bell for the various clubs.
Nice in theory
@@paulmcgee1867 In practice they delivered 38 points today.
You know this is the comparison I was waiting for. Apples to apples. Well done!
Wonder how well the Cleveland launchers or even the Wilsons compare to the 0211 Z game improvement irons by PXG? Average Golfer loved the PXGs.
The Clevelands look just as good in my opinion
no golf snob here mate...............hahaha..............wonderful review.... been playing T-rails for a couple of years.... and i couldn't care less what anyone thinks... good on ya..
You can blend the sets..maybe standard Stealth with the HD for the longer irons like 6i and 5i
To me I don't care what the clubs look like as long as they make me feel confident standing over the ball and help my game get better 😊
I have the halos but looking at HDs. So great review.
Hey Andy…. Did you check out the spin rates of the TM HDs? That’s why I love my 799s from Sub70. Ty for another nice video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Looks like every Halo shot was more ‘playable’ than the HDs.
Our ‘snob’ factor can not be over considered.
I noticed that too. Seemed to be more consistently, but slightly, better with the Halos.
Also (having made the switch from Halo to Stealth HD), note the Halos require head covers because the black backing is so easily scratched and marred. At least with the Taylor Made I can bang the club back into the bag after a bad shot without ruining an iron.
I currently play the model just before those Halo irons, and I am very much interested in the Stealth HD irons as all of my woods are TaylorMade
Thanks Andy I prefer the look of the TM over the Cleveland I’ve got the PXG 0211 but getting older and want to make it easy as I can I’ll go try both
I tried the Cleveland Halo vs. the 211 Xcor2s.
Cant get my hands on either right now Daniel
three years ago, we played with a 14 yr old kid that shot a 74 from the tips on one of the hardest courses in San Antonio using the original version of these irons, saying "Golf isn't really that hard." All 3 of us wanted to strangle him, because we were all struggling.
I’ve had the Wilson launchpads for 2-3 years now , I love them !! These also look great as well I’d love to try them out
Have you preview the new Wilson dynapower irons ?
Just got fitted for Ping G430's. Traded in Halo XL set. I went with driver, 7&9 fairway woods, 6&7 hybrids, 8,9,PW, 45, 50 bent to 52 and 58 degree wedges. All in the High Launch option which seemed to give me the best results with 85mph driver and 65mph 7 iron clubhead speeds. Had loads of fun with the Halo set. I think the Ping HL's are ladies clubs in disguise.
Just bought a halo 4 iron for $100! Needed a 175-185 easy 2 hit long iron before I get 2 my 5 wood?
Andy
What shafts and what flex did you have in the STEALTH hds
Andy you convinced me to game a 7 wood and yes even a 9 wood, but I’m not sure I could game those chunky Cleveland’s
I carry mostly Clevelands in my bag
Excellent video, thanks, and I used Halo great clubs
Did he mention the offset on, for example, the 7iron is 4.1mm for the TM and only 2.1MM on the Cleveland. Notice his strikes with the TM curve more the the left as a result of the difference in offset with the same swing.
I played the halos yesterday for the first time I didn’t get much higher launch don’t know if I’m setting up the club on the ground right help
What kind of shafts do they have available ? Thanks
I am looking to replace my 4/5/6 irons and the HD look a good option but don't know if they can be purchased individually.
One big difference is that the Stealth HD is designed to be draw biased and has a lot of offset. The Halo irons are neutral and have very little offset.
I am fighting over Taylormade hd, Callaway big Bertha 23, and Titleist T350s. Any opinions?
Hi, just ran across your channel. Great reviews on these Cleveland Halos.
Is there an advantage with graphite shafts? Im more concerned about consistency than distance, even though I don’t hit the ball real far anyways. Im 6’ tall 190 lbs, multiple rotator cuff surgeries have my upper body strength down quite a bit.
Depends on your swing speed. If you have a moderate swing or better, stick with steel. Graphite is good for those with slower swings.
