Yassir at Newcastle invited over to his mansion in Saudi when they visited for warm weather training the full squad and back room staff over 200 people at his home and was involved with everyone of them. Newcastle have built a family feeling of unity on and off the pitch and they are reapig the rewards, yes players will come and go but that family unity will stay in place from top to bottom and that breeds success
If I own a business, I am forming a strong working relationship with the people I employ, especially those in key positions. Obviously scale matters. The CEO of a company with 1000 employees can't possibly do that but Football teams are not that big. Knowing and having good relationships with the key actors is vital. At the very least you need to be able to evaluate and be confident in their performance/character. For a football team this would mean the manger and assistant managers, DOF, head of the commercial operations, head of recruitment, players (especially the captain and key players). Do you need to be bff's with the kit guy? no. There is a reason Jordan was an absject failure as an owner. Now we know what it was.
I am nearly 70 and have supported Spurs all my life. In my opinion Poch. and his team should be accorded respect for all they did in @5 years at our club. They were sacked and did not leave for 'bigger bucks like e.g. Steve Burkenshaw. Please do not include a complete Club Legend in Glenn Hoddle in this conversation because of his connection with 'the pensioners' . He left (along with a couple of other very good players) after the 1987 F.A. Cup Final to play at Monaco and (much) later returned as a Chelsea player / manager, surely that should not mean we are expected to detest him? Also, if you check it out, another one of our Club's greatest players, Jimmy Greaves was originally on Chelsea's books, along with a couple of others. I was certainly not in support of appointing Terry Neil as manager, or even of releasing another Club legend (Pat. Jennings) to woolich (to promote Barry Daines), but regard what a Club Captain (and potentially a Club Legend in Cambell) did as he left us to join them, as a betrayal should not alter the reality that these transitions will enivitally occur. You have to move on.
AVB was sacked because he had Chelsea on the verge of getting knocked out from UCL against Napoli in the 11-12 season... replaced by DiMatteo who then not only oversaw a come-back against Napoli in the second leg but went on to win the whole thing for the first time in Chelsea's history. AVB was just simply not good enough for where Chelsea were back then.
You work for a brand, but you enjoy your work due to the human vision of the manger If the manager does not trust people the business will fail , in ever decreasing circles IF the manager inspires faith then the business will grow
Why shouldn't a player be friends with the owner of a club? Someone please tell me as I am seeing comments saying a player shouldn't be but not explaining why.
No man utd fan says the players are poor because the glazers are useless. What they do say is the glazers are responsible for the debacle thats being going on below them for 10/15 years. £1bn wasted on this squad and the glazers don’t change a thing. If they think everything under them is operating fine then they are useless.
Agree with Simon. Players should not be friendly with the owners. They have a job to do…they should be scared of the fact if they don’t perform they will be moved on. That’s why what Simon says about the Glazers is wrong….they certainly are at fault for a lot of the problems at United. One of them is paying players too much and not being ruthless by moving on players who don’t perform.
Why are you even talking about SJR? It’s not happening. You don’t spend hundreds of millions of pounds to a firm like Raine just to get a 25% investment. Their annual report last week points towards a full 100% sale.
As soon as a work relationship becomes friendly professionalism goes out the window….majority of the time. The Glazers don’t have a relationship with players but they pay them way too much for what they’ve achieved. Take Rashford for example…,they overpay him because commercially he’s their poster boy, but from a footballing perspective he’s below average most of the time…yet he’s still picked because of the Glazers. As soon as players are paid too much too fast, for winning nothing…that’s when the players become lazy and complacent, and when that happens the team is dead.
This is nonsense from Danny, I get it it's football but why should the owners have to come and speak to players, they pay them enough money! Do you think McDonalds or Tesco owners come and speak to their employees around the country/world. NO! Stop trying to pamper these football players. They are paid crazy money!
Simon's point on David moores lovin lfc players a bit too much hence winning very little . There was a lot of loving goin on at that time with lfc players especially between roy evans and his spice boys. lol.
The thing to blame the glazers about is not hiring the right staff recruitment 'manager coaches the glazer don't do the research to find who would be best for man utd
I'm 20000% sure Danny doesn't write these things on his own.............I remember the great Arsene Wenger saying owners are not allowed in his dressing room
Neymar and the PSG hierarchy ended many coaches' careers... That's the biggest example why it's better to have relationships professional and not more.
Imagine spending billions on a club, walking in, not getting to know the players so that you make decisions without understanding the full context of whats happening at the club. What apsolute garbage. Its no wonder simons tenure failed
When clubs ain't going well for a long time it always comes down to owners in man United case the main reason is players above every other reason owners are last.
As a footballer you are paid to do a job, that's the be all and end all. I have worked for people I liked I have worked with people who were aholes but I always gave my best I see footballers going through the motions it's a bloody disgrace, Now some are saying they are fatigued playing too many games, well they should try working 60hours a week then playing football on a sunday morning.Makes me laugh👑👑👑👑
Simon Jordan once again explaining why his ownership career ended in administration.
😂😂🎯
You think Palace went into administration because Simon Jordan didn't go into the dressing room?
Yet another person who knows fk all about why and what happened.
He Simon even said why it went north ....get yr facts right
Any sort of business , the owner or Chairman should be friendly, not friends.

Khaldoon is known and respected by all at City, it is good to have an owner or someone in charge who knows EVERYTHING
Punditry in 2023: "owner should be in good terms with his employees"
Brilliant.

Honestly i think Danny is the best in talksport...
That's a low bar.

Danny got you on this one Simon

Love it when these two go head to head coz they both criticize man utd too much..
it was nevilles turn in this weeks podcast. poch, eddie hearn and AJ to follow this week ...simon loves that haterade lolol
This is what we mean when people say stay in school kids
Being able to explain yourself properly is a skill that can be beyond useful
Simon can’t have a show for one day without mentioning Gary Neville 😅

Treat people how you want to be treated. Not hard to work out
Wrexham are an interesting example of next gen ownership

just look at the Toon, owners and players and staff are all on the same page they are a closer family than the Waltons.

Why does Simon low key, always blames players for his failure in football? It's getting very obvious now.
True
Well said

Dan rattled Simon today loool
Different times Danny
Jordan is really starting to annoy me
Bye then
How will he cope
Late to the party
Simon Jordan was a vain narcissist and worst chairman Crystal Palace ever had.
Works for Wrexham
Actually, Jordan's the only making any sense. Others believe you pay the players a fortune + you need to kiss their butt as well.
Won very little? Murphy bit his lip there. Lord Jordan is getting worse...
Moores won a damn sight more than this perma tanned failure of a chairman.
Man Utd cannot be like Man city Management in the next 10 years. GL RC
Sir Simon = Top LAD Proper Clobber 💯 Facts

Owners are certainly not last. The owners overpay the players..,making them lazy.
Fff
