But in the world of supply and demand, why not get them to pay for their ticket and the police cost. That was the owners point. And I’ll also note, its not just his club thats doing this. Also curious if this was a way for Wrexham to deflect attention away from the fans being upset about kit and ticket prices at home lately.
I think he's just set the price he thinks is right for his club and maybe hasn't factored the increased volume of ticket sales and associated alcohol and food sales into it.
@@johnm725 because they are a club in a relatively poor area of the country, don’t get me wrong, I think £20 is enough for league 2, but the hypocrisy of Wrexham is clear when they charge £24 every home game yet complain that a club with 5% of Wrexhams income charge £1 more. He deliberately avoided answering the question directly because Simon got him on the fact that they would have made more money from that game than any other without raising the cost of the tickets.

Let's break this down... A guy who looks like the villain from Dune makes a greedy decision. Then, the owners of the club that were suffering the price hike decided to do the opposite. That is literally what happened. Unless the guy that struggles to breathe during a basic conversation can properly explain the financial reality, he shouldn't bother doing interviews 😂
It is worth noting that the Accy chairman puts in his own money to fund a club for the benefit of the community, I don’t agree with the price hike but he’s not some money hungry bloke.
If they'd addressed the concerns about the price hike weeks ago when it first came to light instead of ignoring it, then maybe Wrexham wouldn't have pulled the stunt they pulled. Andy's just whining because he's had his pants down on social media.
Damn shame Andy had to contend with a dude who ACTUALLY knows how running a football team works!! Honestly, I'd have had more respect for him if he'd just admitted "Yeah, there's more away fans coming, they'll come regardless, so I'm gonna take the opp for make some extra cash. Stash it in my 'rainy day fund'". Something like that. Not this chickenshit about "Police costs".
4:17 Andy shoots himself in the foot. "That's like saying if you bring a lot of fans we'll lower the ticket price" - yes but you did the opposite, with the same arguement. He said more people cost more money so we raise the price.... so what is his point/arguement?
Why get in police for Wexham fans? we used to go to Bangor races every year and the so called Wexham front line were waiting by our coaches and half a dozen of us sent them packing a load of kids
Followed Leeds for decades and through the lower leagues this happened to us so many times. Recall a trip to Burnden Park, Carlisle, in the 80s. They drove us past the home turnstiles with the prices above the entrances whereas our prices were more than double. Nice touch.
It's obvious, the guy is trying to cash in, he knows Wrexham fans will pay it so he has tried to fleece them and cash in, but he has been found out, thankfully. He knows and we know they will earn more from this one game then probably 10 games put together if you factor in spending money on food, drinks and services.

Simon and Jim out of their depth talking about League 2; the obvious question *not asked* to Andy Holt was ticket prices v Stockport County, Bradford City and Notts County (and probably one or two others) where the increase in the policing bill would have been similar.
Its not just extra ticket sales its the extra revenue that those fans spend in the ground, say they spent an average of £5 each in the ground then they made a huge fortune of the away fans
If it’s cost a extra £5 per head for policing they lose money. Spending £5 isn’t £5 profit it’s £5 turnover, staffing product etc needs to come out of that. Unceasing ticket pricing is £5 extra to cover policing . Sounds like Wrexham charge £24 a game anyway
The accrington Stanley owner sounds like a clown his getting extra money because while there are there they will spend money while there at the ground and his saying no thanks makes perfect business sense 😂😂
