Gary has always defended Utd.
Gary and Roy need to learn to accept that the United they played for doesn't exist anymore. Just like the Liverpool that Souness and Hansen played for no longer existed when Fergie's United were ruling the Premier League along with Wenger's Arsenal. We are in the City era now.
They can't accept it that's the problem.
Completely agree. It's bizarre that they think just because they used to be good, they have a divine right to always be that. These pundits are still stuck in their glory days at United comparing everyone to Fergie whose been gone years. Someone needs to tell them that it's over.
the reason it's hard to accept is because it's been artificially dismantled by the glazers... and artificially doped by the sheik in city's favour... this not a natural cycle where 1 team aged and fell off and another came up with brilliant coaching through a youth team.. this has been fixed
this is one team being robbed and pillaged and dismantled and the other team cheating it's way forward through financial doping
Exactly. It coincidently ended when SAF left. They are not dominating the league or scaring anyone in the CL.
Yeah and as a United fan though I've come to learn that it wasn't Manchester United I was supporting, I'm not from Manchester and have no stake in the community there, I was supporting that attitude, that style, that ethos of hard work and never say die, that never give up outlook.
It's dead and gone, and so I'm left watching the Beckham documentary lamenting the days when Man United were Man United.
Bruno Fernandes thinks that being a leader is all about always complaining to the referees all the time. He is always complaining, and his performances has been on and off. He must just focus on his performance,
Bruno and rashy just individualistic player under Erik. While they both not produce the other not stepping up. It sad this season all about players redemption, like Harry, Scotty, and Onana.
When the chips are down his attitude has always stunk. That’s when he need to be a motivator and get his players chins up, instead of whingeing at the ref. Poor man management of his players by Bruno and poor man management of his captain by ETH.
Agree, missing the leadership element, the belief and positivity
If he started complaining to his players like he does the ref all the time, we might see a bit more effort from them...........

I was thinking the exact same thing. We never went in any of the games half heartedly. Big teams couldn't take Liverpool for granted.
You ain't wrong even though Liverpool weren't winning any league title back then it was very very hard to beat them and at anfield a draw is a good point
Actually out of the three I think maybe Arsenal actually enjoyed playing Liverpool at Anfield as they somehow managed to get a result over there. That somewhat stopped after 2012 but was close in getting all three points in April last season.
We are abyssmal bro.
Those were, tough times being a red but you have to go through that to reach the summit. Yeah Pool v United fixtures in the early half of the 90s were a thrill to watch but MY GOD they were nerve wracking games for us cos we REALLY didn't want to lose games to those lot. It meant the world to us and more, to beat them in the league even in the EPL era when we'd fallen from our perch and began to realise Sir Alex's MUFC had replaced us as top dogs of England. To this day I still don't know which signing was the worst: Souness signing Paul Stewart, Hodgson signing Christian Poulsen (Konchesky was pretty pants too now that I remember..) or Rodgers signing Mario Balotelli. 😀

United isn't a big club tho
This is what I've been questioning recently about Erik Ten Hag's style of play. At Ajax, he had them playing beautiful football with positive results. I'm assuming that's why United hired him to replicate that style of play and achieve more given the financial resources at United. It's been 18 months and when you look at United, they're literally a far cry from the Ajax team that made a lot of noise back in 2019 in Europe.
not possible without the right players. Arsenal under Arteta for first two years were absolutely diabolical and disjointed. It took Arteta a while to sort out the personnel required to play that way.
Ten Hag has right figured out United can only do anything on the counter and is playing to that strength, it however looks quite ugly.
Its almost 2024 dude
Because this Utd squad isn't good enough to play the Ajax did under EtH. Either physically or mentally.
I know this will be controversial, but i think Dutch football has been overrated in the past decade. Yes, they have the Johann Cruyff pedigree and what not, but their style needs modification in modern football where footballers are fitter, more physical and can press hard. Look where Ajax are now in their league, they are teetering in the relegation zone.
@@swordofkhaine8464 ten hag already got some his player but somehow making united worse than last season
Always Good To Hear Roy…👍🏾
Gary’s right. How on Earth are players signed by other managers like Maguire, Lindelof, and Martial (who was signed in 2015) still at the club? Like for instance Klopp arrived at Liverpool and had a careful assessment of which of the current already-there players could he improve and work with, and which ones were no good and thus could be got rid of.
It took Klopp several windows and he was happy to work with Gomez, Lovren, Sturridge, Lallana, Milner, Henderson, Coutinho, Lucas, Firmino etc...
The key difference is that Klopp improved the players that were already there.
Because one two summer transfer windows is not enough to build a team.
Klopp has been at Liverpool, I think, eight years now. United cannot keep a manager even to have three transfer windows. Chopping and changing managers because you used to win trophies a while ago is a losing strategy - for the fans, for the club, and for the players.
@@richarddunne9802
Those players you listed at Liverpool were all cleared out after a few up and down seasons. Ten Hag inherited a much larger and more broken squad than Klopp.
@@Art-is-craft That's correct. They were all cleared out with Premier League and Champions League winners medals, except for Coutinho, who was sold for a record sum, Lucas, and Sturridge, who got only a Champions League medal, poor fella.
And Milner, Henderson, and Firmino were cleared out with six trophies each, having made it to three CL finals, and Gomez didn't get the clear out memo and is still starting games.
It was *embarrassing*
Ten hag has not improved anyone, if anything they all regressed, mount amrabat evans rubbish signings that no other top manager would ever make. The options ten hag has at the back due to injurys has to be taken into account.
I love that Roy said all of this when Ronaldo was still around when everyone was blaming Ronaldo for these loses
The thing I noticed, is it didn’t feel like a derby. Usually both sides hammer each other to a standstill. It just felt like a normal PL game.
Good to hear from Gary ‘the weight of the world’ Neville
It seemed as though when ten haag came certain players definitely improved rashford probably being the best example. But after a while it looks as though certain players like rashford and bruno and a lot of the others have fallen back into old habits.
It must be incredibly frustrating for ten haag to try and keep these players strong mentally as well as physically. They are all just overpaid but also so weak and so undisciplined. It's going to need huge investment to dig out ALL that toxicity in that dressing room.
A clear out needs to happen but cannot be done in one season.
Love Garry and Roy's input, they are so on the money...
Utd need a manager like Roy and a couple of bulldogs on the pitch. They might not be top level talent, but they need passion and team that has a solid core of players. They need heart

Ten hag must be baffled as to why these players can’t show the focus and commitment of last season. Having Shaw, Martinez and AWB missing for the whole season is a big part of it but a lot of these players just have weak mentalities.
United weren't even good last season They had to rely on Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham having really bad seasons to secure an undeserved place in the top four.

Where is the fire in their eyes. When a sub comes on can’t they look hungry and deviously inspired to score. The difference between a player and a winner.
I think the decision to get rid of Ragnick which was co-signed by Ten Haag was the first mistake from the manager because it ultimately showed that Ten Haag thought he could carry the club on his shoulders which he has now shown he cant. As a result he's gone on to buy a 90m winger in anthony only for bruno to play his position, and then has gone on to sign mount, only for bruno to play his decision.
So he's actually handicapped himself by bloating the squad with a lot of imbalance and average talent ID. The truth is he is not a world class manager who can lead like a klopp, pep, jose, emery. He's a coach that needs an operating system around him in order for him to be settled but he killed himself of that opportunity by not fighting for ralf and the glazers are at fault too.
United fans were to quick to call him elite based on his ajax days, when you really look at it, Ajax have a cultural system set where they produce talents developed in the cruyffian way of playing which allowed erik to add his style which is "transitional" to an already possession based squad which is why Ajax 18/19 were so dynamic and fun to watch

The fact you said Sevilla instead of Valencia renders you unqualified to comment on anything regarding this game, Manchester United or indeed Football in general.
Rashford back on school dinner duty
He will soon return for his 8 game run in every 2 years 🤣🤣🤣
Roy is spot on about Rashford's body language.
Gotta love Keane
Ten Hag is diabolical
Everyone at United is diabolical.
What else can he do with this shite bunch
I know he’s a British academy graduate but Scott McTominay is never criticised when he’s a basic championship player
never criticised except all the time and when the manager wanted to get rid of him
